Changes in VISA interrupt handling?

Hi all

I'm grabbing at straws here, so I'm looking for a shoulder crying.

I wrote a prog to USB with CVI acquisition a decade for a Board personalized. It worked well for a few years, then was extinguished. We try to use again, but it is not working properly.

We do not have the original PC, so we use it with the latest BCI on Win7 or XP, with the latest driver VISA (regenerated .inf file).

Communication with USB works fine... except the interrupt routine. Instead of receiving a break with 3 bytes of data (say 'ABC'), I get TWO interruptions, the 2nd first with 0 x 1, the one with "BC". There are different types of racks of interruption of different lengths, all have the same cut in two, with 1 as 0 x 1, the 2nd one with valid data.

Anyone has an idea why there might be such a change in the functioning of my interrupt routine? VISA changed its treatment of interruptions in this time?

Short of a solution on the side of PC, we are ready to reflashing the card, in the hope that we have the most recent version of the firmware!

It may be useful, here is a dump of the USB VISA settings (I'm not familiar with most of them):

  • Stable aid application: change of visa of 8.5 to 8.6 refnum cleaning?

    Hello

I had big problems to sort some problems of communication series in a very broad program with parts dating back to Labview 3. A few mistakes intermittent comms started occurring after the upgrade of LV8.5 to 8.6.

After much headscratching it seems that the problem is due to the way refnums VISA are cleaned when a VI stops (even if others are still running in parallel).

As far as I see it, to 8.5 and below if a reference VISA is open, and a VI that uses end execution, the reference remains valid.

In 8.6 However, if ANY VI that uses a reference VISA ends, then the refnum closes automatically. However, this seems to behave differently on different computers.

I would be grateful if people with both version 8.5 and 8.6 could test the attached files. The first VI runs in a loop by checking if the reference is valid. (With the option to close it if it is already open).

The second opens a VISA reference, waits 2 seconds and then stops (without closing).

I tried this on two computers, one of them (where we are having the problem), there is a difference in behavior between LV8.5 and LV8.6. On the other hand (a laptop with no serial port, only USB, so I can not check the exact same resource VISA), there is no difference.

It would really help if you could do the following in 8.5 and 8.6

    1. run "refnum valid check (8.5) .vi" and close the reference if it is already open. If you have no try to port ASRL1 something else.

2 enforce ' VISA Open refnum with delay (8.5) .vi ", (with the same visa resource), wait until it finishes.

    3. tell me what happened (and what VISA resource you used if it wasn't ASRL1).

    Thank you very much.

    Alex

OK, I just solved my problem (after several weeks).  The option "automatically close VISA sessions ' has been selected.  Unchecking this guard the open reference and solves the problem I had.

  • Change default handler calls for unity

In 4.0.4 SR1 unit, how to change the default call handler, under the heading "Call Routing"? The default call manager section is grayed out and there is no way to change opening greeting, another manager of appeal.

The predefined rules are gray because they are not intended to be changed. They are rules "rescue" which must be in place and valid at all times, otherwise it is possible that calls will not be managed properly.

You can override default emergency rule basically call manager by simply adding a new rule above him, with the same criteria as the Default rule call Handler, but different ' send the call to the "destination. However, be sure tp change the order of the rule such that your new rule is just above the default rule call manager, but under the rule of Sign-In attempt. If it is above the rule of attempt to Sign-In, then the subscriber access simple message will not work. Whenever you make changes to the range tables you want to run tests to ensure that they wanted affect on different types of incoming calls.

  • "Waiting for in time (RT PXI target) real answer" error when the program is waiting interruptions

    Hello

I developed an application to detect interruptions generated by an electronic card and act accordingly. The program was developed in labview, but she calls a dll; created with labwindows. The dll is scheduled to open the visa communication, select the events and install the interrupt handler and when an interruption is detected, it reads the value of the different registers of the map and returns to labview to view.

The problem is that when the program expects an interruption, a prompt appears with the message "Waiting for real-time (RT PXI target) real answer" and the only option I have is to click on the button to disconnect the pxi or just wait. If I wait and I generate an interrupt, the prompt disappears and the application view data as it was planned.

To wait for the following code the interruption has been programmed into the function:

    While (flag == 0)

    {

    Sleep (1000);

    }

When an interruption occurs, the value of flag set to 1 and function continues without any problem. I am not really sure, but here is probably the problem and it probably isn't the best way to wait for a break because the sleep function suspends the thread to the configured time, but at least the load calculation in the PXI is between 0 and 1%. I was wondering if anyone knows how to wait for a break without 'lost' communication with PXI and if there is a better way to do it.

Any response will be welcome and thank you for them,

    Jaime

    Hey there.

You see problems with connectivity it's because the thread by DEFAULT CallLibrary nodes running in is the UI (UI) thread - UI thread manages also the important things like, say, communications (especially all the connections for the VI server) and other things that you could run all the time.  A CallLibraryNode is not, by default, intended to be used to execute code that runs for a long period of time.  If you want to do this, you assign the execution of the CallLibrary node to run in the context of a LabVIEW run-time engine thread (by selecting to make it work "in any thread") and not the UI thread.  This can be done through the properties of the CallLibraryNode.  By selecting "run in any thread" the call DLL will be generally in the context of the thread running in the run LabVIEW, which is usually what is meant when even.  The VI CallLibraryNode color change of Orange (UI) to blue (LabVIEW thread) so that you can quickly tell what context the appeal will be in.

The reason the interface thread user is the default thread is because most often DLLS calls need to be serialized (because of functions is not not thread-safe) and so it serves to protect the integrity of the system.  However, if you know your threads are thread-safe, or you will use these threads for a while, it is best to program the CallLibraryNode to use a Thread of LabVIEW execution rather than the UI thread.

  • Interruptions GPIO on LM3S8962

Hello. In collaboration with ARM LV 2009 & LM3S8962.

I use pins PB4 GPIOB and PB6 as sources of interrupt on falling edge. Handler interruption VI created correctly, everything works well, interrupts are triggered correctly. However, I'm trying to understand how to determine the origin of the interruption - PB4 or PB6? Simply by reading the node associated with each spindle EIO won't work, because PB4 both PB6 could be logic 0 to the downtime, but only one of them has generated the interrupt. Been put apart using an inline C node, have other options?

    Thanks for your help!

    Paul

And here I'm answering my own question.

In the default VI interrupt handler that creates LV, there is an entry named "Param". Documentation of DIDN'T say this entry is not used. FAKE! This entry will provide the value of the status register of the interruption for the interruption that is handled. Somewhat similar to GPIOPinIntStatus (unsigned long ulPort, tBoolean bMasked) for an interruption of GPIO port.

So, in my case described above, I get param = 16 for PB4, param = 32 for PB5 and param = 64 for PB6. Sovled

ToNI Note: I think this should be stated in the documentation, because this feature left unexplained seriously disables the use of interrupts.

  • Change the amplitude of the Agilent function generator output while the output is on

    Hello

I am writing a program to scan the amplitude of a sine wave of a function (Agilent 33210 a) generator output. I have two sets of pilot example: Agilent 33xxx and HP33120a (the first one uses VISA, IVI 2 uses).

Using the example of driver code, I changed to generate a sine wave to 1Vpp, wait 1 sec, and then modify the amplitude of 0, 5V. I have attached the images in my field that show what happens when I do that. The two examples cut first exit before Relighting with a different amplitude. 33xxx driver takes 140ms for change, and has a strange burst between the two signal. HP3120a driver takes 30ms and cleaner air.

    Agilent 33xxx example using:

    \

    HP33120a example using:

I would like to have the change is instantaneous. When you use the generator manually, I can turn the button and change the output in real-time without delays.

Thanks for the suggestion of Mateus, but I am trying to automate this process of my best. Change the VISA pilot is the direction I want to go.

Thank you crossrulz... I wrote a new issue VI of the Standard waveform VI set up so that it simply writes the new amplitude control and none of the other things. Worked like a charm! Now the waveform changes amplitude without turning off the exit. I also checked to see if re-defining the shape of sine wave (even if the original is also sinusoidal) was the cause of the delay as you suggested, and you were right. Thanks for the help!

  • Problem to run Agilent GPIB with NI-VISA card: recurring at Agilent VISA 32 report of open conflict that all things set correctly...

    Hi developers OR,.

I have a recurring problem to correct my installation using a labview and Agilent GPIB card.

Of course, the well-known configuration tips are generally defined:

-Agilent VISA a VISA secondary (by-side mode)

-the passport for tulip is enabled in NOR-MAX

-OR-488 support active in Agilent librabry suite 16.1

I uninstalled and reinstalled any component twice, but still get the same error message when I want to talk to a Keithley 2400 EMS:

-Firstly, the agilent GPIB interface is correctly recognized expert Agilent connection and NOR-MAX

-Then the instrument of 2400 keitjley initially works correctly in Agilent connection Expert and NOR-MAX

BUT: when I try to send a command to the device (whether through the wizard or VISA using the Labview instrument driver), the tool returns an error (error "Application incomplete" punch followed immediately by a second "Invalid while in the local" error code)

At the same time, the Manager (32 open report VISA) conflict in expert Agilent connection says "NI-VISA has returned an error. "There is a conflict of interface between NI-VISA and VISA Agilent". He suggested that the conflict occurs when different interfaces receive the same number of interface in the two VISA.

Therefore, aware of the conflict that can occurs in a side-by-side installation, I tried to change the ID of Interface CLCL's Board of Directors in the Agilent connection Expert (from gpib0 to gpib9) and restart, but it did not help.

So can you help me solve this recurring problem?

Is it necessary to also change the VISA interface ID, or address of the GPIB Board Agilent GPIB in connection Expert? Wouldn't be the same address (9 for example)?

    I really do not understand.

Sorry for this new message on the configuration of this topics, but I found no useful advice in the forums.

    See you soon,.

    Yoyo87.

Finally, I got my system running after several tests, although I couldn't use NI-VISA as first VISA (allowing the tulip passport) with agilent VISA (permit for programs OR-488) at the same time.

I uninstalled it all components of NOR and the agilent and re - install in the correct order (OR first, followed by agilent): nothing has changed.

I check for updates of agilent and NOR and use several different versions of VISA at the same time: nothing has changed and I still communication errors when you try to send the order through NI-VISA Interactive control or labview (although it worked well by expert agilent of connection).

I don't really know why, but I solved my problem by installing Agilent VISA primary visa. In this way, even if I do not see the Council of Agilent in NOR-MAX, I can always send control of GPIB instruments by labview using their VISA address or aliases defined in connection expert Agilent...

I am always interested to understand why I was not able to run the two VISAs on my system with agiulent only one card PCI GPIB... so if one of you sees a clear reason for this...

Thanks in any case, even if I don't have a lot of response on this topic...

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP bug control has a value of 0x0000007F. This bug check indicates that the Intel CPU generated a trap and the kernel could not catch this trap.

This trap might be a bound trap (a trap the kernel is not allowed to capture) or a double foul (an error occurred during the processing of an earlier fault, which always results in a failure of the system).

Important info if you received a STOP Code

If you received a blue error screen, or a stop code, the computer stopped abruptly to protect against data loss. A hardware device, its driver or software might have caused this error. If your copy of Windows is shipped with your computer, contact your computer manufacturer. If you purchased Windows separately from your computer, Microsoft provides support. To find contact information for Microsoft or the manufacturer of your computer, Contact Support.

If you have experience with computers and try to recover from this error, follow the steps in the Microsoft article solution STOP (blue screen) errors in Windows.

These actions could prevent a mistake like this does not happen:

    1. Download and install updates for your computer from Windows Update device drivers.
    2. Scan your computer for computer viruses.
    3. Check your hard drive for errors.

    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP parameters

The first parameter that is displayed on the blue screen indicates the number of trap.

The most common trap codes are the following:

    • 0x00000000 or division by zero error, indicates that a DIV instruction is executed and the divisor is zero. Memory corruption, other hardware problems or software failures can cause this error.

    • 0 x 00000004, or overflow, occurs when the processor executes a call to an interrupt handler when the overflow (OF) is flag set.

  • 0x00000005, or limits check fault, indicates that the processor, then executing a BOUND instruction, determines that the operand exceeds the specified limits. A BOUND instruction ensures that a signed array index is within a certain range.

  • 0 x 00000006 or Opcode not valid, indicates that the processor attempts to execute an invalid instruction. This error occurs generally when the instruction pointer is corrupted and point to the wrong address. The most common cause of this error is hardware memory corruption.

  • 0x00000008 or Double fault, indicates that an exception occurs during a call to the previous exception handler. In general, two exceptions are handled in series. However, there are several exceptions that cannot be handled serially, and in this case, the processor signals a double fault. There are two common causes of a double fault:
    • A kernel stack overflow. This overrun occurs when a cover page is hit, and the kernel tries to push a frame. Because there is no battery left, a stack overflow results, causing the double fault. If you think that this presentation has taken place, use ! thread to determine the limits of the stack, and then use KB (display Stack Backtrace) with an important parameter (for example, 100 KB) to display the full stack.
    • A hardware problem.
  • Less common trap codes are:

    • 0x00000001 - a system call - debugger

    • 0 x 00000003 - a breakpoint in the debugger

    • 0 x 00000007 - a statement of material with no present coprocessor coprocessor

    • 0x0000000A - has corrupted Task State Segment

    • 0x0000000B - access to a memory segment that was not present

    • 0x0000000C - access to memory beyond the limits of a stack

    • 0x0000000D - an exception not covered by another exception; a protection fault concerning violations of access to applications

For other numbers of trap, see an Intel architecture manual.

    Cause

0x7F bug check occurs after the installation of a faulty or incompatible hardware (including memory) or if installed hardware fails.

A double fault can occur when the kernel stack overflows. This overflow occurs if multiple drivers are attached to the same battery. For example, if two file system filter drivers are associated to the same stack and then again the recursively of file system, the capacity of the battery.

    Resolution

Debugging: Always start by the ! analyze extension.

If this extension is not sufficient, use the debugger kv (display Stack Trace) command.

After using one of these commands, reuse kv to display the new battery.

Troubleshooting: If you have recently added the material to the computer, remove to see if the error recurs. If the hardware failure existing, remove or replace the faulty component. Run the diagnostics of material that does not have the system manufacturer supplies to determine which hardware component.

The scanner memory is particularly important. Faulty or incompatible memory can cause this bug check. For more information on these procedures, see the manual of your computer. Check that all the cards in the computer are well calibrated. Use an ink eraser or electrical contact treatment, available in electronic supply stores, to ensure the adapter card contacts are clean.

If the error appears on a newly installed system, check the availability of updates for BIOS, SCSI, or card network controller. These updates are generally available on the Web site or the hardware manufacturer BBS.

Check that all hard disks, controllers, hard drive and the SCSI adapters are compatible with the installed version of Windows. For example, you can get information about compatibility with Windows 7 in the Windows 7 Compatibility Center.

If the error occurred after the installation of a new or updated device driver, you should remove or replace the driver. If, in this circumstance, the error occurs during the startup sequence and the system partition is formatted with NTFS, you may be able to use Safe Mode to rename or to delete the faulty driver. If the driver is used as part of the start-up procedure of the system Safe Mode, you must start the computer by using the Recovery Console in order to access the file.

Also to restart your computer and press F8 to character-based menu that displays the choice of operating system. In the menu of Advanced Options , select the last known good Configuration option. This option is most effective when you add a single driver or service at a time.

Overclocking (setting of the CPU to run at a speed higher than the nominal specification) can cause this error. If you have overclocked to the computer that is experiencing the error, return the CPU to default clock speed setting.

Check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the device or driver that generated the error. You can also disable caching memory BIOS to try to resolve the problem.

If you have encountered this error during the upgrade to a new version of the Windows operating system, the error can be caused by a device driver, system service, an anti-virus or a backup tool that is not compatible with the new version. If possible, remove all third-party device drivers and system services and disable all antivirus before upgrade you. Contact the software manufacturer for updates of these tools. Also, make sure that you have installed the latest Windows Service Pack.

Finally, if all of the steps above do not resolve the error, take the system motherboard to a repair for the diagnostic facility. A crack, a scratched trace, or a defective component on the motherboard can also cause this error.

It's my generic how updates of appropriate driver: (updating the video/display driver and BIOS)

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded: run DriverView - set the VIEW to hide
Microsoft drivers - update those without drain in their names (and BIOS and chipset).

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now click on
Driver update (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right
Click on - uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • ARM module + PWM LM3S8962 problem

    Hello.

I'm experimenting with LV2009 + Embedded module for ARM (also the 2009 version).

    (1) what actually works, a few screws, I did (no examples):

-loop infinite + led flashing + 200ms wait timer

-infinite loop + number of the current iteration on LCD + 200ms wait timer

    (2) the demos provided in /examples/lvemb/ARM/LM3S8962 sistematicaly (PWM, Blinky, DIO, OLED) fail. Ex: DIO relies, but throws an exception when it is downloaded on the dev. BOAD and executed; PWM does not build (not a filled.ctl or a update.ctl lack of file problem, I fixed) - something related to a PID Subvi. What I'm doing wrong here? Any help? (Note: I also changed the parameter debugger & programmer of the project uVision, the default ULINK2 fails of course).

    (3) PWM EIO problem: I got the first aforementioned VI (1) (LED light MagNet) and added a HIO PWM5, in the same loop.

-What is the wired to the PWM EIO node value mean? Duty cycle 0 to 100? Duty cycle 0 to 1? The number of ticks to the top state PWM? Sometimes it worked, sometimes the PWM was logical high all the time.

-If I add a property PWM5 EIO node and try to put anything, it breaks. From what I've seen in the uVision debugger, it gets stuck in the default interrupt handler section. I can't understand how he got there.

Please help me with an example of how fully configure a PWM EIO, exercising control over the frequency of having to test cycle, everything.

Thanks in advance for your time & help.

    Paul.

    Hi Paul,.

This looks like a problem where you (or rather the code generated LabVIEW) set up the device before you activate the device PWM.  The target will fault in this case, but the Simulator will not.  Because that the PWM EIO node initializes and allows the PWM peripheral, if the EIO property node is executed before the EIO node, the target reproach.  Try using a sequence structure to make sure that the node of PWM EIO runs before the property node.
