changing the IPs of WiSM2 HA controllers...
Hello experts!
HA WiSM2 already install and smooth.
Customers had to change the IP addresses of the service interfaces.
They can be changed directly from the console of each controller while in config HA
or
you need to remove the controllers of the HA config?
Removal of the config HA means disable just the SSO, right?
then I can proceed to the next generation of IPs?
I just wanted to be on the bottom.
Thanks in advance.
Service interface has nothing to do with HA SSO.
The IP address of the Service Interface is editable through the console (better) or by IP.

Problem in the establishment of the IPs of various NICs through Set-OSCustomizationNicMapping
I need to create multiple VMs to Linux from a few different models and I would use a customization specification profile. The VM model has 3 NIC in 3 different VLANS, the 3rd is not suppposed to have a default gateway (which is not my main problem). Cloning via vCenter works, after I provide the IPs 3 virtual machine is cloned correctly.
However, this script, I try this code:
$custSpec = get-OSCustomizationSpec "D1 RedHat | New-OSCustomizationSpec-name "xyz".
$custSpec | Get-OSCustomizationNicMapping | Game-OSCustomizationNicMapping - IpMode UseStaticIP-position 1 IP address - 10.70.236.99 - mask subnet 255.255.255.0 - DefaultGateway 10.70.236.1
$custSpec | Get-OSCustomizationNicMapping | Game-OSCustomizationNicMapping - IpMode UseStaticIP-position 2 - IpAddress 10.70.237.99 - mask subnet 255.255.255.0 - DefaultGateway 10.70.237.1
$custSpec | Get-OSCustomizationNicMapping | Game-OSCustomizationNicMapping - IpMode UseStaticIP-position 3 - IpAddress 10.10.10.99 - mask subnet 255.255.255.0 - DefaultGateway 10.10.10.1
$custSpec | Get-OSCustomizationNicMappinggives some problems with PowerCLI 4.1U1. The first Set-OSCustomizationNicMapping command sets the IP address correctly, but the 2nd and the 3rd gives:
Game-OSCustomizationNicMapping: 14/04/2011-16:23:10 Set-OSCustomizationNicMapping the Posiotion of the object property has changed. This property represents a portion of the Id of the object, so this operation is ambiguous. Please get the new object and run the operation.

Thanks in advance.
Hello
This behavior is by design. Here is the explanation:
Cause:
1. misuse of command
' Set-OSCustomizationNicMapping - Position' sets the posiotion of the nic past mapping object.
The following call assigns consecuently the posiotion three objects to map nic 1:
$custSpec | Get-OSCustomizationNicMapping | Game-OSCustomizationNicMapping - IpMode UseStaticIP-position 1 IP address - 10.70.236.99 - mask subnet 255.255.255.0 - DefaultGateway 10.70.236.1
2 locking mechanism
So lets have the mapping objects following nic
1 mappingA
2 mappingB
3 mappingC
If you keep the reference to A and B and change the posiotion c and 1st then the references of the A and B will expire and you will no longer be able to edit them with this old references. The reason behind this is the unique identifier of A and B, we know is their position and this ID has changed--they became the 2nd and 3rd. So to change the old references with bad identifiers may cause problems only. That's why we have implemented the locking mechanism and you have to get the nic mapping objects to change.
Solution:
$custSpec | Get-OSCustomizationNicMapping | où {$_. {Position - eq 1} | Game-OSCustomizationNicMapping - IpMode UseStaticIP - IpAddress 10.70.236.99 - mask subnet 255.255.255.0 - DefaultGateway 10.70.236.1
$custSpec | Get-OSCustomizationNicMapping | où {$_. {Position - eq 2} | Game-OSCustomizationNicMapping - IpMode UseStaticIP - IpAddress 10.70.237.99 - mask subnet 255.255.255.0 - DefaultGateway 10.70.237.1
$custSpec | Get-OSCustomizationNicMapping | où {$_. {Position - eq 3} | Game-OSCustomizationNicMapping - IpMode UseStaticIP - IpAddress 10.10.10.99 - mask subnet 255.255.255.0 - DefaultGateway 10.10.10.1I hope this will help.
Thank you

Tecra S: I can change the IRQ settings?
Hello
Recently, I received a new external (E - MU 1616 m) card using a PCMCIA card to connect to the computer. It does not work as it should because of the fact that the shared PCMCIA cardbus controller's IRQ with a range of other things (controllers USB, internal modem and the video card).
Is there a way I can change the IRQ setting for the PCMCIA controller?
I now that if windows XP is installed as an ACPI computer it does not change IRQ but if install you it as a standard PC, it does. Anyone now how to do this?
Any help is most appreciated!
Thomas
Hello
As far as I know since Windows 2000, it of not possible to manually change the IRQ.
Visit this link:
http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;232824Well, in my opinion, you can try to remove the PCMCIA Device Manager. After the restart of the unit of the OS recognize the PCMCIA device and allowances the IRQ.
Try it.Good bye

I need to generate 3.3 V logic level Digital train of pulses with the NI PCI-6221. Can I change the level of 6221 OR logic output?
The output cannot be changed. 5V to 3, 3V level controllers are readily available (Maxim, I think). As long as the scanning speed (etc.) is fast enough for your pulse train, even 3, 3V regulator would work. I don't know if NEITHER offers a module to condition TTL levels.

HP Elite Book 840 g1: change the RAID on AHCI on Elitebook 840 g 1
I have an Elite book 840 g1. I'm changing to AHCI RAID and cannot get it done. I tried everything on the web regarding the registry settings and changes to the bios. Nothing has worked. Any suggestions?
Solution to change RAID AHCI on an HP EliteBook 840g 1
My EliteBook 840 g 1 does not have a CD/DVD drive, so I put my software available on a USB stick and this worked great.
1. back up your PC or important documents.
2 put the software available on CD/DVD or USB depending on one you plan to use.
3. close all programs and restart your PC.
-C' is where it gets difficult.
4. enter in the Bios by pressing the ESC key
5. make sure you change your boot order / put USB or CD/DVD first in order - depending on what you are going to use
6. once in the BIOS go to the 'Advanced tab' and then 'Device Configurations '.
7. go to RAID/AHCI and switch to AHCI
8 save the settings and exit.
-C' is where it gets trickier.
9. THIS CRITICISM IS - after save and exit the BIOS of the PC will start start - don't let it throw - back in the BIOS before it starts
10. once in the BIOS, go to the boot options and select the option that you put your software available.
11. now booting from USB or CD/DVD, you have your software available on
12. your PC will now go through the re-imaging process and when it's done, you'll be in AHCI.
13. you can check by going to "Device Manager" > double-click on ' controllers IDE ATA/ATAPI "and below you see"Intel 8 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller '.
14. He verifies that you are in AHCI
15 take advantage of the improved performance
The extent of the change RAID on AHCI by using registry settings I couldn't get it work. I changed the starting value of several channels (msahci, istorA, istorV, etc.) and couldn't make the change happen. From my experience, I had to reimage my PC for that change to AHCI RAID. If someone has a proven solution, changing to AHCI RAID in registry settings without having to do a reimage would be what they please report them. Thank you and I hope that all this information is useful.

I can't access the IP4 properties to change the ip address.
I can't access the IP4 properties to change the ip address. The laptop connects to the network and has the internet connection but when I try to set a specific ip address tab of connection properties for ip4 and ip6 wireless network is grayed out. Is there a setting in Vista the automatically it controls and does not allow access to change?
I put IPs for the other 5 computers at home for use via my wireless router and have no problem with any other computer but one of Vista.
Hello Jimmy,.
I recommend trying the steps described in the Jack post that is marked as an answer in this thread:The thread is in the Windows 7 forum, but the diagnosis also applies to Windows Vista. -
Hello
Today, I have the different situation:
Sequence:
We have 25 systems in the field with 2 links from different suppliers and working with BIO metric access. Suddenly admin changed the router's IP and network IPs to switch different range when he requested the change IPs newly given according to IP configured in router and switch. 5 systems I changed the static IP in all systems through the local administrator and tried to connect by using access biometric .i found only 10 systems took the static IP and the rest of the systems did not the. I tried thanks to rinse / renew / other commands and methods varied, but he was not taken at last I checked ipconfig and found that the ststus autoconfiguration IP service: 192.164.152.58 such as that not given earlier. After changing in ok and properties ipv4. So again see properties ipv4 value if you change the different value, but ipconfig shows that I never gave other PIS .NO updates are installed in the system. I know is questions.
Note *: when using images of backup IP address is accepted and works fine
This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)
If you give us a link to the new thread we can point to some resources it -
How can I change the player assigned to the SSD for a SATA instead of the SCSI drive?
Original title: SCSI instead of SATA
I built a PC with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. My C: drive is a Samsung 840 Pro SSD. The system never worked properly and I discovered that the SSD which is a SATA 3 drive in Device Manager is configured as a SCSI disk. Someone knows how to change the driver assigned to the SSD for a SATA instead of the SCSI driver?
Hello Uriel,
Thank you for your response.
SATA controllers will normally appear as "SCSI" controllers in windows. It's normal and nothing to worry about. Often the SATA controllers will also be able to run in IDE mode and then they present themselves as IDE controllers, but it is unlikely that they will be able to operate optimally, as the IDE interface is missing some features of SATA. So even if you do not have the ability to set the cache in the Device Manager, a SATA controller is running in mode SATA should work just fine.
The IDE bus is managed by the controller SATA3, and if this control is set in the BIOS to "IDE" somehow it seems related to the operating system as a SCSI device. By setting this entry in the BIOS to "RAID/IDE" IDE devices get properly detected.
This can also occur if you change the BIOS settings for the SATA ports of 'IDE' to 'AHCI' after installing Windows 7.
I hope this information helps.
Thank you

We have a pair of 5520 s defined as active / standby, the two have an AIP - SSM.
These two AIP are set to automatic update, that the SIG files so this is not a problem, but what about detecting active? The primary IPS will have seen a lot of traffic that switching IPS is not how active rule sets is performed when the ASA switches to the rescue unit? Will I 'holes' in my security of lack of sets of rules?
Hello
The units of the IPS are completely independent and don't sync anything without additional aid (for example using the Manager of security or other).
Given their auto-update is good, but you must also ensure that the config is replicated, so when you make a change on one that you have to remember not to make the same change on the other.
Situation normal active IPS is transfer of traffic (and sleep mode sees nothing), but when they flipping the day before IPS is suddenly in the ASA active - he doesn't know that the other IP address is out of action, he sees just the traffic which it will inspect according to its configuration.

Andrew.

Hello
We use the AIP-SSM-40, Version 7.0 (2) E4.
Send us traffic from all the interfaces of the IPS. When we test with hamid 2004, we have no alarm.
the ASA configuration is as follows:
inside_mpc of access allowed any ip an extended list
Interior-ip-class of the class-map
corresponds to the inside_mpc access listInterior-ips-policy policy-map
class internal ip class
IPS inline helpservice inside Interior-ips-policy-policy interface
on the AIP - SSM, the configuration is the following:
signatures 2004 0
high severity alert
Atomic-ip engine
event-action produce-alert|produce-verbose-alert|deny-attacker-inline|deny-connection-inline|deny-packet-inline
Yes specify-l4-Protocol
L4-icmp Protocol
Specify-icmp-type no.What we should do to get the alarm?
What do you mean alarm? Do you mean that you are not able to see the events triggered by signature # 2004?
You can check what is the frequency of the alerts configured for this signature? The default value is "Summarize" every 30 seconds. You can change the frequency of the alerts to "All fires", if you use the #2004 signature for testing.
In addition, you must send traffic across the ASA for traffic is inspected by the PPE.
Finally, I'm assuming you already activated/assigned the virtual IPS (vs0) sensor for signature (sig0).
Hope that helps.

Hello
I was asked to rename the current SSID (data, voice, Fords 1) because they have weird names. We have 3 controllers (4402) and ~ 55 APs.
Above all and change the SSID name for the particular WLAN want to ensure that customers will be able to reconnect correctly using the new SSID.
First of all, I guess I have to disable the WIFI network to be able to change it.
Can someone let me know if you need other things to consider as well as potential problem?
Thank you
Krisztián
Hello
You can't cange the name of an existing SSID SSID.
If you want to use the different SSID name you will need to create a new SSID with the new name and your copy of case all existing SSID SSID settings.
Regarding the current SSID, you can disable or simply delete if you no longer have to use it.
But remember that this means that all clients associated with the previous SSID will be disconnected and will need to associate the new SSID.
HTH,
Tiago

Are different from the signature IDS and IPS signatures, then?
If Yes, where can I get the latest signatures to the IPS?
Also, how should I do to update the IPS signatures on my router 7206VXR with these latest signatures?
Thank you
Yes and no
IDS stands for Intrusion detection system
IPS stands for intrusion prevention
The main difference is that the IDS systems monitor attacks but cannot remove the packages in the attack, while the IPS systems can monitor and also give up the packages during the attack in order to avoid the attack.
In the past, all Cisco products were IDS sensors. This includes devices and modules.
Even the IOS software running on the Cisco routers who did an analysis of the signing was called ID (although technically, it could reduce the attacks and could be considered as IPS)
Recently (last summer) the code of IOS has been enhanced to do additional signatures and even provided the ability to add new signatures without loading a new IOS (new signatures are in a configuration xml file).
When this feature has been added to the IOS team decided to start calling this IPS signatures because they wanted to emphasize the fact that the IOS router may drop packets and avoid the attack.
The base IOS image comes with a default set of IPS signatures.
New IPS signatures can also be loaded onto the router.
These new xml configuration files are available on CCO.
New files:
http://www.Cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/iOS-sigup
Old files (archives):
http://www.Cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/iOS-sigup-arch (currently empty since only one or 2 have been published so far)
So, the answer might be a sort of Yes, from the point of view IOS. Old IDS signatures are the initial signatures hardcoded in the old images of IOS. The signatures of the IPS are new signatures in the new IOS images that can be added via a configuration xml file.
Technically the difference is mainly in the age of the naming convention. The old stuff is called IDS and news are now called IPS.
To load these new files, you must run recent firewall IOS Images, and then follow the instructions in the read me files.
At the same time the ID modules and devices through a code for IPS functionality changes.
This new feature is not yet available. But after the release of new signature updates will be called IPS signatures.
However these IPS signature on the devices and modules updates will always also IDS signatures when it is configured to monitor only.
So from the module and unit point of view, the answer is NO, there is really no difference between IDS and IPS signatures. The difference with IDS and IPS is not signatures but what happens when the signature is detected (only monitor with an alert or alert monitor but also drop the package in order to avoid the attack).

Speakers stopped working after changing the device sound card
* Original title: switched to hi-speed of dial-up, speakers stopped working / / rev. #2 Can I change the title of: speakers stopped working after changing the device sound card
I have a Motorola SM56 speakerphone modem, I went from dial-up to the Road Runner. When I open Device Manager and expand the sound column it lists "High definition Audio Device" (manufacturer of Microsoft), there are 4 that say "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" then there is one that says "Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device. When I open the properties of the Unimodem device it says ' device working properly. "
Let me start at the top under "General". It lists the name of the device: Unimodem half-duplex Audio device. Device type: audio, video and game controllers; Manufacturer: Microsoft; Location: Motorola SM56 Speakerphone modem.
My speakers worked very well before I went. I tried updating the driver but he came back with "best driver already installed. It is a desktop PC, it is about 6 years old, but has been revised, graphics card new, updated to power, new 4 GB ram I think. The hard drive is 1 TB. I'm running Windows 7 Pro. I forgot to mention, if I open a WMV file and volume in the taskbar commands, I see the green light moving. The green light on the actual speakers turned on, just no sound. It seems to me that the old speakers do not like the new modem from Time Warner. (I'm an old lady, what the devil I know)
It is a question of another driver, or is it something else?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are plug you the speakers into the modem?
They must be connected in making your computer speaker, usually a light green color (read the manual of the machine). Go to control panel / sounds / playback and make sure that the type of speakers you selected as the default device.Audio device drivers updated its better to not use MS Update (it is not). Re-post giving your machine make name and exact model number (for example HP, Inspiron, ABC1234 etc.).See you soon,.Jerry
