  If you reload the OS of your phone by using the link to BlackBerry, you'll pick your SMS icon.

  I've separated the send SMS/MMS messages.  When I select the SMS icon I can see SMS messages on a specific date ~ 7 days, but nothing more recent. When I select the display folder and select SMS Inbox, I see all my SMS messages until current.

  Does anyone know how to fix the icon TEXT corrupted (which is probably showing a view corrupted SMS Inbox)?

  A simple battery pull should fix things for you.  When your phone is turned on, remove the battery and then replace it.

  Reloading your operating system on your phone will reinstall the SMS icon.

  Connect your phone to your PC via USB and open BlackBerry Desktop Software.  Once your phone has been recognized, click device at the top of the software, and then restore the menu drop down.  Choose the most recent restore point and proceed.  Once it is recharged, the icon of your SMS should be intact once more.

  Hi friends,

  I upgraded my OS to v6.0.0.461 v5 device.

  After a month I saw "Eception exception: java.lang.NullPointer Exception ' msg of error on screen and icon missing SMS on the Menu. This happened to me twice in the past, I tryied to get my data back SMS following steps - below but could not get my previous SMS data.

  > a backup with Desktop Manager

  > Did wipe with BBSAK

  > V6.0.0.461 loaded OS with BBSAK

  > Data restored with desktop manager - observed data SMS were not available.

  Kindly tips get my backup solution and permanent SMS for this kind of problems.

  Reloading your operating system should bring back your SMS icon.

  Connect your phone to your PC via USB and open the Desktop Manager.  If you have not installed, go to www.blackberry.com and look up for Apps & Software.  The link will be there.

  Once you have your phone on and Desktop Manager is open, click device at the top and then update the menu.  You could get a command prompt that your phone is up to date.  It's OK.  Under this prompt, search to display the other Versions.  Click on that.  The version installed on your phone is expected to be the top one in the list.  Ensuring that you keep this checked, click Update and wait it out.

  Recently, I went out of State and had not experienced this problem before leaving the State.  I was out in the glue and often not there where there was a signal to receive messages.  I noticed that my icon said: I have messages.  I saw a few and opened and deleted if necessary, however when I went back to the main screen, it says that I still had 7 messages.  There is no unopened messages or missed calls.  I looked in all the missed messages files and that you have not found a.  Is there a way I can reset my icons?  Is this a known bug?  My SMS icon and icon facbook work perfect so far.  Please advise?

  Alternatively, you can try to perform a hard reset if you have not already. With the machine on, remove the battery for 30 seconds and replace it. See if the icon will reset once the device to finish starting up.

  To have a separate icon for SMS go to the menu, main folder message, press new menu options, General options, change the SMS and email inboxes to separate.

  If you updated OS 5, you will notice that SMS messaging is not "spent". Simply press the back (lower right corner) to send.

  If you want to send the text Message, press Menu > forward.

  If you have a new icon rogue Message on your home screen, or a negative number (-1), one of these solutions could erase or reset:

  Try these options:

  Messages > saved Messages

  * Scroll at the top of the folder, on the title menu, click or tap to MARK PRIOR OPEN date
  Change your theme and see if it persists and return to your desired theme. (Options > theme > select.)
  * Connect to Desktop Manager > backup/restore > advanced. On the right pane is the list of the data on your device. Scroll to the e-mail highlighted messages database, and then below, select TRANSPARENT. This will clear your system of all messages.
  * Clean and reload your OS.
