Cleaner to no progress / lnSizeCorrectionFactor became very low

Hello

We have an application that uses I 5.0.104.  We have recently had a problem where a transaction log I continued to increase in size (3 GB/hour).  We eliminated the possibility of a lack of enforcement by comparing the records of the application against getDatabaseStats, so we know that the application was not somehow forget delete records.

Call for cleanLog() of JEMonitor had no effect on the JDB files and returned 0.  getEnvironmentStats() revealed that lnSizeCorrectionFactor had dropped to 0.079.   Enable logging for com.sleepycat.je.cleaner.Cleaner gave us:

2016-01-18 17:10:58, 128 DEBUG logging [vacuum-1]. Log4jLoggingHandler (Log4jLoggingHandler.java:83) - [myvhost] file to a chosen lower used for cleaning. fileChosen: 0x3ca92d lnSizeCorrectionFactor: totalUtilization 0.07944859: bestFileUtilization 2: isProbe 0: true

Restart the application, the transaction log I shrank to normal size, but the situation has come back a few hours later and continued to remanifest after reboot later.  So far, our attempts to understand/reproduce the exact second stage failed.  The unique environment of I is ultimately used by many different applications and have all of the different traffic profiles (frequency/size of folders, etc.).

We have getEnvironmentStats() in production and see that once the lnSizeCorrectionFactor starts to fall below 1, normally, it continues to fall and once it hits 0.5 stop cleaning and we see the growth of the unlimited transaction logs.

The application is mature enough and worked in production for many years without seeing this problem.  (Apparently the problem is correlated with a change that doesn't have) since I 5.0.73 I 5.0.104 b) past to CacheMode.EVICT_LN and reduced je.maxMemory (our application cache the data itself to a higher level, so put the I caches of leaves was redundant from our point of view).

Prompted by Re: bloated disk EI 5.0.73 and 5.0.97 changes, we test our application with EnvironmentConfig.CLEANER_ADJUST_UTILIZATION is disabled.    So far, everything seems fine.  We are aware that without je.cleaner.fetchObsoleteSize = true vacuuming will assume that all the records in a journal are medium in size and so can clean more/less clean, but we do not want to pay the cost of additional reading.

If you were able to comment on the nuisance of cleaner behaviors with CacheMode.EVICT_LN and cons for the use of EnvironmentConfig.CLEANER_ADJUST_UTILIZATION disabled in isolation that would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi Keith,

As you read the more information about this problem, I guess you know that the upgrade to the 6 EJ (use the most recent version of course) is the only solution, but assigning false to CLEANER_ADJUST_UTILIZATION works for some applications. If it works for you, that's fine, but please plan to upgrade.

The reason why EVICT_LN to highlight this problem is that, after that the LN (registration data) is expelled, the Btree contains more his size. If you delete the record, guess the size using an average. If the LN was still in the cache, the size would be called at the time it is deleted. I 6 and above all, the size are stored in the Btree even after the LN is expelled, which solves the problem.

  • Portege Z930 - display became very low

I have a Portege Z930 ultrabook. A day or two back the display suddenly be permanently turned off. However, if I look closely, I see that the image is there but VERY, VERY weakly. It is as if the light has been turned off (although since the screen is DIRECTED which is not the case).

I was able to get a replacement screen, but that made no difference.

The video card on the motherboard works - at least insofar as I can plug in an external monitor and see everything correctly.

I wonder if a hardware switch inadvertently triggered and miss me the framework. Or I suppose it could be a witch that turns off the screen when the cover is closed, which became faulty...

The Z930 has fonctionnee Windows 8.1 very happily for the last year or two.

I hope that it will be something simple, rather than a motherboard failure...

Gmail will also save all e-mails, both sent and received in 'all mail '.

Deletion of an e-mail from a folder does not result removes the email in "all mail".

Basically, all letters, incoming and outgoing are saved in the folder "all messages".
Labels can be applied to create a visual effect to appear as in other folders, for example: Inbox or one that you create.

So to delete an e-mail from for example: Inbox simply deletes the "Inbox" label and still leaves the email in "all messages".

Oh dear.  It turned into a terrible mess of a thread with opinions and advice.    You do your layout with Word.  In my experience, Word is a nightmare when it comes to positioning many areas of text and images.

You shouldn't have changed the Word document in a JPG file, because the text all which perfectly progressive, which would be printed to "all" size without loss of image quality, then became an image file.  But if you "had" to make it a JPG, just about the worst possible way to do this is with the Snipping Tool, because the resulting image would have only the resolution of your computer screen.  Dows following?

How big are the pictures you used in Word?  They probably didn't need to be very large, because each image is only an impression at a relatively small size.

First thing to try is to open the Word Document and save in PDF format using the Standard option (after you select Save as PDF

It will keep the text in the form of scalable vector objects which allows printing at any size.  However, I don't have the knowledge of how Word uses images.  I just did a little test, and while I could zoom in to see in the text, I'm not sure that the same is true of the images.  Depends on word refers to the image of the player, or he brings as an object of frame size, and I suspect it's the latter.  You need to do some research on it, because it might make you save a lot of time.

You have Publisher?  Editor certainly reference the drive images, and friezer downsize to fit the page.  I suspect that you can import a Word into Publisher document, which would put you best part of the way with it.  I would like to test it, but I use it as a loyal user of Adobe InDesign.   If you are forced to restart, then editor or InDesign would be lot better, but it's doable with Photohop.  Just make sure that you start with enough pixels, which means 36 inches at 300 dpi or 10 000 square pixels.  When did save as PDF using the preset high quality printing, and ask your color printer (probably just use sRGB)

    Good luck

  • Tecra A3 has very low volume

Hi all, I bought a used Tecra A3. With Win XP Professional, service pack 3. I have not all records with him.
It was working well before a week or two ago. It has very low volume, I have all levels of volume and the maximum wave. The manual volume knob on the front has no effect, it used to work
I think the problem started when I downloaded youtube FLV files, then I downloaded a program ('super' was the name of the program) to convert the FLV files into AVI files.
I uninstalled the program of conversion, I failed to convert anything. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver of sound card - card his Realtech AC97. I uninstalled and reinstalled WMP11. None of this has helped.

On this view, I saw how to do a system restore. I thought to perform the system recovery can solve the problem.
My question is, if I perform the system recovery, to the GET to the elimination of the parameters of the box, it will clear the WIN XP operating system?

Thanks for any assistance received, Darren.

    Hello Darren

Please do not be angry on me, but make you it so complicated. Let's be clear on this:

Saved on DVD of recovery recovery image contains the operating system, all necessary drivers, Toshiba tools and utilities and some additional applications such as a DVD player. So if you want to install the OS by using Toshiba recovery media will be deleted all content saved on the HDD, formatted partitions and lately OS will be installed. When all is finished you will have clean operating system preinstalled. It will be the same State as the first day after the default purchase.

Then I don't understand what you mean now with the restore process. During the installation of recovery is complete you must not install or configure anything. Just boot OS, install your favorite software, install the Microsoft updates and be happy.

If you have any other questions please post again, but please if you ask something to be clear and precise.

I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite L20-101, Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Yesterday, the sound of my laptop started to play very very low.

Drivers audio (conexant AC-link audio) seems to work fine, and I'm all set to maximum volume.
It was sudden. One moment he was working well, and the next time I start it the sound was strangely low.

I don't know if it's a hardware problem, or if she could we have resolved to restore the entire system with the recovery CD (I prefer not to do so).

    Any ideas? Any help?

    Thank you

    Hello

I think you should check the sound volume using the headphones.
If the headphones work correctly the problem might be related to internal speakers.

But to be honest it is really not easy to say what causes this problem as I said can be faulty speaker but you should also check all possible settings and perhaps a new OS reinstall would also be a good idea.

It would be useful to know if the sound issue would persist using the laptop with clean, factory setting.

As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

It's frustrating, I know.  Question: If you put the 'original' of return RAM in the system and restore the system back to how it was when you bought, 1st you get the experience index you originally?  This is assuming that you are ready to perform a system recovery which erases the hard drive clean and make it the way it was when manufacturing built the machine.

Please confirm you "not" mix the different types of RAM in the computer, which means that you put in two sticks of 6400 and two sticks of 5300 (these numbers used for example)

If your device does not work, perform a backup now if you have not already done save the file to a place and a name that you can easily locate it on computer.

I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all the other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer, thus eliminating the operating system for the BB to the computer in order to ensure that the version I want to reinstall a new version uploaded.

Get the latest Desk Top software DTS)

and install it on the computer.

Get the latest version of the operating system

    http://us.BlackBerry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

    and save it on computer.

To erase all data on your BlackBerry device, follow these steps.

    (1) download JL_Cmder http://www.4shared.com/get/oqP9V-2Q/JL_Cmder_v19.html

    (2) install JL_Cmder to the computer.

    (3) double check you have already saved the BB. If you DO NOT, you will lose all data.

    (4) make sure that DTS is closed and plug in the BB to the computer via USB

    (5) to reach the JL_Cmder on your computer and double-click it to start. Now, it may take a few tries to connect, so persevering until he does.

    (6) on the first screen, press a key to continue.

    (7) now, if your device uses a password, enter it now. If not, press "N".

    8) press 4 to start CLEANING

    (9) press on 'Y' to continue

    (10) now type "blackberry" to continue

    (11) on the BB, you see a white screen with an error "507". Don't worry, that's what you want! You are now ready to install the operating system.

Launch the new Desk Top software on the computer

    (1) on the homescreen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Device > update my device.

    (2) click on view the other Versions. Click the version of the new OS you previously downloaded.

    (3) click on install. The DTM will install the OS and then provide you with a list of applications to install. If you have had problems with an application, do not install it.

Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is finished and restarted the device.

After 10 minutes, restart again by removing the battery slot while tension and leave for a few minutes.

Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functional BB!

Most of the time, you can use the Task Manager to see which programs are hogging resources.  Make sure you click on tab the process, and then on the small button at the bottom left that says something like "show processes from all users".

In addition, switch to view... Select the columns entry and select other readings/o and i/o
You can sort the columns by clicking on the title - this way, you can control what is spking during closing.  Get the name of the process that is spking and we can start watching them.
