Clone Stamp selection failure in CS6

• Option-click for the clone stamp does not. I've tried several suggested fixes, no results. Help!

  Howdy!

  I searched and found similar questions on the forum and I tried all the solutions proposed, that I could find, but I'm still not resolve this issue. Hoping that maybe someone found a fix!

  The problem is that the option - click to set a point source for the Clone Stamp tool does not work, but the behavior seems to be particularly odd.

  With the Clone Stamp selected, tool if I press the option key pressed, I get the crosshairs target little, which makes me think that Photoshop is the option key is read and is not a recovery program of her clutter. When I then try to use the clone stamp, however, I get the dreaded error message:

  "Could not use the clone stamp because the area to clone has not been defined (option - click to set a point source)."

  I went through all the relevant troubleshooting steps, I could find elsewhere on the forum. I have updated to the latest version of Photoshop and my BONES. I tried to reset the tool. When this does not work, I reset the Photoshop preferences. I have disabled all the other programs that seemed that they might have some sort of overlay keyboard shortcut, but as mentioned, Photoshop DO change the cursor when I press the option key, which makes me think (although I am far from being an expect) is not the issue. I have no plugins or mods or anything of this nature that is installed. It is a completely vanilla installation.

  I am under Photoshop CC 2015.1.2 20160113.r.355 x 64.  My OS is El Capitan 10.11.2.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated. As far as I know, there is no work around. This tool is dead in the water for me until I can sort this out.

  I have to admit, I'm puzzled. Everything seems as it should. The tool has been reset, preferences reset and the layer looks very good. I wonder if it is a question with El Capitan. I use Windows, but know that Photoshop has had problems when El Capitan came out. If you have not used the clone 6 months stamp then it would have been pre - El Capitan. Have you tried completely uninstalling Photoshop, restart the computer and reinstall?

• When you use the Clone Stamp tool CS6 the alt key does not work?

  Just recently, my mouse have misbehaved and touched my CS6 when I was working on a photo. The result, my alt key does not work. For example, when I use the Clone Stamp tool, I can't sample as the alt key does not work. Even in ACR, the alt key does not work. When I drag the 'white' to the left while pressing the ALT key, the screen turns black.

  You are able to use the ALT key well otherwise on your computer?

  You can try to reset the Clone Stamp tool.

  To reset, follow the instructions below:

  1. Select the Clone Stamp tool

  2. right click / Control click dropdown at the top left

  3. choose Reset tool

• Clone Stamp does not work in Mac OS 10.11.1 CS6

  I used the stamp of duplication without problem until today. It will show the target circle when I press Option by clicking, but when I try to use it it lights up only the region, he don't clone them. I flattened the image. By other threads in Sources, I did kind of layering are checked. It may have started after the upgrade to el Capitan.

• PES 12 Clone Stamp Tool - selection Souce region

  Other than Alt + Left Click combo, are there other ways to select the region of origin of the Clone Stamp tool?

  I use PSE 12 on a window 8.1 Thinkpad Yoga with active digitizer/pen (especially in tablet mode) and it would be great if I could choose the source without the keyboard autour must region. I don't think that there is an Alt key on windows on-screen keyboard. ?

  There is no alternative key and PSE offers no keyboard customizations (although I believe you can use keyboards created in Photoshop CS5, or earlier in PSE).

  The on-screen keyboard of Windows has an Alt key exactly where it is on a physical keyboard - next to the space bar.

• Photoshop CS6 Clone Stamp setting

  I think that I inadvertently changed a setting.  It used to be that when I would use the clone stamp, I hold the Alt key and click a location, and then everywhere I moved the cursor/brush to find a place to click, it would show in real time which would look like the clone until I actually clicked. It was extremely useful.  Today When I Alt-click on the area of model, the cursor/brush shows white until I click somewhere so I see the result... less convenient...

  All of a sudden the Clone Stamp tool does not work when you work on a tif file. Yes, I get the circle with + sign when I press the ALT key, but tool not clones.

  I discovered that it affects all file extensions.  Files were created after adjustments in Bridge. Layer is not locked. The opacity is 46. Now that I have reviewed your response, I was watching a FAQ on the same thing. Honestly, I didn't know you can reset tools.

  I found out how to reset the CSTool and voila! Now, works great.

• Can I change icons clone stamp and brush selection circles in CS5?

  In much my older version of Photoshop, when I chose the duplication or brush, buffer their icons changed to a circle when I used them in the picture. This makes it much easier to work on small surfaces with buffer of duplication or brush - brush and clone stamp forms I have CS5 are not specific enough. They can be changed to circles?   What? This is patently false. Not only you can install ALL versions of AE all the way back to CS6 (see here to learn how), but CC 2015 project files can be opened in 2014 CC without having to convert them.

• Photoshop CC 2015 - clone stamp does not!

  Running on Mac OS X release 10.9.5 (Mavericks). First time since the update using clone stamp. Buffer of duplication and Healing Brush no longer taste of the layer, instead they seize the whole layer. Editing is not possible for the moment. No way to sample a small area. Small brush selected, I am an experienced user. What happens here? Please fix it as soon as possible!

  If you go to window > Clone Source and checked Clipped which is better?

  My Clone Stamp tool has disappeared from my toolbar, I have been using this tool for several years, now he is gone, I rebooted CS6 and I restarted my computer. I could not find a solution on the Adobe on online help. Someone has an idea of what has past.

  The Clone Stamp tool is intended to be used to paint the parts of an image on one image (the same or another).

  To do this, a sampling point must be set for Photoshop 'know' what piece to be used and which is done with the Clone tool from the selected buffer, alt-click on the space provided.

  I'm trying to use the clone stamp, press Option and click to select (the reticle appears, indicating that Photoshop knows that I am pressing Option), but I still get the error message indicating that a point source has not been defined and should I option + click to select a source on a regular basis. The same thing happens regardless of whether the stamp is told the current sample or all layers. I tired with my external mouse and keyboard and my laptop mouse and keyboard, nothing works. I also tried to restart Photoshop and restart my machine, but it still refuses to taste.

  Any ideas on what else could be wrong? If not, is there another way to select the source for the Clone Stamp?

  I had this problem with the same exact configuration. It took me a while to realize, but a 3rd party app has been registered for the Alt + click so the orders are not go to PS in my case it was Flexiglass. You have this or something else running in the background?
