Cmdlet New - vm - ID options flag

Hi all

I've scoured Google and VMware communities discussions to answer this question, and I came up dry.  Now, it may seem like I'm haircut, but I can't find an option - ID for 'Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)' there is an option for "Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)" when you create a virtual machine in vSphere Client it is possible to get the first one as a guest operating system.  However, when you work in PowerCLI I seem to only get the latter as a guest operating system.  I'm not entirely sure what I'm missing.  How to set the guest operating system to my new virtual machine for 'Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)' the cmdlet new - vm?

Thank you.

  • Is there a way to improve the performance of cmdlet New-AdvancedSetting?

    I used PowerCLI 5.5 on a server to update ESXi 5.0 3.  It seems to work ok, but the New-AdvancedSetting cmdlet is very slow.

    I implement VMX settings in the guide for each of my virtual machines VMware hardening.  Things like:

    insulation. Tools.Copy.Disable = TRUE

    isolation.diskShrink.diable = TRUE

    log.keepold = 10

    log.rotatesize = 10000

    etc there are about 50 parameters

    I can read all the key/valules from a file and put successfully using the New-AdvancedSetting command (thanks, Luc relaxing!):

    {foreach ($option in $OptionList)

    New-AdvancedSetting - $vmObject entity - name $option.key-$option.value value - confirm: $false - ea 0 - force | Out-Null

    }

    Updated the VM settings, but it is very slow.  It takes 5 minutes to adjust these settings.

    Is it possible to speed up this process?  Is this a side effect of my mixed environments?

    Thanks for any help,

    Maureen

    The only way I can see to speed the process is to use the underlying ReconfigVM method directly.

    The advantage is that you avoid any fresh cmdlet generals, but also and especially that you can specify all the advanced options at one time through the ExtraConfig property in VirtualMachineConfigSpec object.

    An option of the cmdlet should have

    Try something like this

    $opts = @)

    Options.csv Import-Csv - UseCulture | %{

    $opt = new-Object VMware.Vim.OptionValue

    $opt.key = $_. Key

    $opt.value = $_. Value

    $opts += $opt

    }

    $spec = new-Object VMware.Vim.VirtualMachineConfigSpec

    $spec. ExtraConfig = $opts

    Notice-EEG - ViewType VirtualMachine. %{

    $_. ReconfigVM ($spec)

    }

    This assumes you have a CSV file that contains all the options, and that looks like this

    "Key", "value".

    "isolation.tools.copy.disable", "true".

    "isolation.diskShrink.disable", "true".

  • How can I get rid of the new tab completely option

    I don't like the new tab that opens each time you open a new Web page, I tried the options to hide and stop and neither work, I want to just stop this option completely and return to control when I open a new tab.

    I've used an app/add on speed dial called, what helps me access to my frequently used sites. The tab option new firefox is a pain unwanted.

    You can do this by changing the parameter of browser.newtabpage.enabled to false.

    To do this, you must go to the about: config page:

    • In the url bar, type Subject: config and press enter. If you see the "this might void your warranty!" caveat, just click the I'll be careful, I promise! button to continue.
    • Copy and paste browser.newtabpage.enabled into the search field. When it appears in the results below, double-click it to change to false.

  • Why was the 'new tab' button option removed from research 'Customize toolbar '?

    Back in 3.x and more I was able to place a "open new window" button and a button "open new tab" in the bookmarks toolbar. This has worked well for me. Now with 4, the 'new tab' is not available, and you can open a new tab using the default button, right next to your already open tabs.

    Any chance of that open new tab button back? I would use rather than (what I'm used to) than new.

    Called options, remove them stop.

    You can find the button new tab showing as a '+' on the tab bar.

    You can open the Customize and drag the new tab, button of the toolbar tabs on another toolbar and it will become a regular tools like the new button bar button tab you have in versions of Firefox 3.

    If you would like the button tab at the right end of the tab bar then put a hose to the left of it.

    Open the Customize via "view > toolbars > customize" or "Firefox > Options > toolbars."

    Well, you didn't post in the forum of items relevant for you were transferred to the present where you can get help from other users.

    It is important because most of the time this forum has the same questions... and the answer.

    In your case, it's simple: Adobe has moved the Photomerge command from the 'Experts' editing mode to the ' guided changes' mode without enough put into custody. Change is mentioned, if you read the section "What's new" for help and advertising, but it's too much to expect users to read this. So, we get several similar messages every day since the launch of version 14. It also proves that users do not take the time to browse this forum. It is true that the function "search" is far from ideal.

    Before ask you, here are the answers to the related questions:

    You can change the settings of end BC captcha by going to Site Settings > Captcha settings.

  • How can I report an error in the cmdlet new - vm, when try/catch catch him?

    I used PowerCLI 5.0.1 and tries to add a processing error on the create a new virtual machine.  My try/catch block doesn't seem to be jumping to catch code.

    try {}

    new-vm-name badvm - vmhost "10.10.1.1" datastore - bad

    ECHO "inside to try"

    }

    catch {}

    $msg = $_. Exception.Message

    ECHO "inside wrestling"

    echo $msg

    }

    When I run the present, I get the appropriate error «...» Cannot find StorageResource with the name of 'bad '... ' appears on the screen and the text ' to try '.  I expect to fall into the Catch code.

    The host is valid and connected; so, it seems that the new - vm cmdlet Gets the host - successfully - and then the host will return the error, but don't know the code to Catch.  Could the successful connection be confusing wrestling?

    I thought call get - vm with the name and check if it was created, but I would like to tell you the cause of the failure.

    Thanks for any help,

    Maureen

    You could add -ErrorAction stop to this cmdlet.

    Or to investigate the content of $error [0] after that you call the cmdlet

  • cmdlet New-hard drive

    This will create a HARD drive on the same DS as the VM...

    Get-VM-name $displayname | New-harddisk - CapacityKB (10GB / 1 KB)

    How can I make more than one HARD drive in this order?

    FOR EXAMPLE:

    HDD1: 10 GB

    HDD2: 5 GB

    Thank you!!

    You cannot create two hard drives with a single command. You will need to use at least two commands. In PowerShell 5.1 Release 2 new disk hard-cmdlet has a parameter of CapacityGB. So, you can use:

    $vm = Get-VM -Name $displayname
    $vm | New-HardDisk -CapacityGB 10
    $vm | New-HardDisk -CapacityGB 5

    Hello Luke,.

    When I run this task of clone, there are quisced snasphot. Any chance to make a snapshot of the non-quisced of task clone below? Thank you

    New-VM-name $newVMName - VM (Get - VM $fromVMname) - VMHost (Get-VMHost $tgtEsxName) - data store (Get-Datastore $tgtDatastoreName) - RunAsync

    Behind the scenes, the New - VM cmdlet uses the CloneVM_Task method.

    But as far as I know there is no way to determine which method to use a snapshot not suspended.

    What you could do, is to create a snapshot yourself non-suspendu and then create the clone of this snapshot.

    But forcing you to use the CloneVM_Task method instead of the New - VM cmdlet.

    Out of curiosity, why would you clone from a non-suspendu snapshot?
