Codecs and MP4 files.

First of all, what is a codec exactly?

When I try to convert a file Mp4 WAV it tells me this (we'll use EA for example.):

This file C:\Documents and Settings\Penny\My Documents\mp4\Emilie fall - 306.mp4, cannot be imported, please install the correct codec first. If files can be read on your computer, probably Sansa Media Convert does not support this format, either the file is corrupted.

I know that it supports Mp4 files... I would be very grateful if someone could help me.

The technology is certainly not my favorite for this reason things. It can all be so confused...

Now, I see the picture you are trying to paint.  You try to convert a video to flash (flv) to display on the Sansa.

There are two things for you.  First of all, what tools to your Toolbox?  If you have a successful conversion depends on the codecs necessary to match the video source with the version of destination of your choice.

Close the MSC.  Download the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) and install it.  It is a whole digital tools for your video conversion tasks.

Then try something different, possibly convert it to avi before running the target through the Sansa Media Converter.

If you download AnyVideoConverter (there is a free version), you can try different output formats until you get a successful result.  The STROKE output goes in the SCM.

  • Windows xp and mp4 files.

I have windows xp and you can't play a mp4 file.  All ideas/solutions?

There are many types of mp4 files, you need to know which codec made those you want to play and then install the codec for it.

If it came from a camera, you can find the disk contains the codec you need, or can help ensure that you have the latest version of quicktime.

Otherwise, use avicodec to find out what it is, then look for the manufacturer of the codec, I recommend to install the codec packs.

  • How do I edit metadata for wmv, avi and mp4 files in WINDOWS XP.

    Hello world

I have windows xp professional sp3 and windows media player 11. I am not aware that with my system, I can use anything beyond wmp11.

I have a filmmaker who does not use Mac (I really don't like them). As such have hundreds of video files, both my own and friends, colleagues and clients. I'm * REALLY * try to organize my files and I wanted to add metadata to the videos so that I can search by category, type and the names of the people who participated in the production. I tried to make this easier by using the metatags as 'comments' and 'Keywords' etc. I thought it was a pretty simple procedure - just right click on the file and change the properties.

I tried everything that comes to mind and spent 3 hours in all research on this question with NO results! Each awnser I've seen so far does not help me. Unless really miss me something.

I imported video files in my library. I can't get the "Advanced Tag Editor" appears with movie files. I understand not only with audio files. I downloaded abcavi editor and who does nothing, I can't always find the files and when I right click on them and look at their properties, they remain dimmed. I used adobe bridge (cs4) and meta-data that application only works when you use it. I don't want to have to ramp bridge and sacrifice the memory just to perform a task which should be simple and accessible using my operating system.

any help is really very much appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance.

    -p.

AudioShell adds tabs for metadata to the properties of the file to many formats, including WMV and MP4.

As far as I know, there is nothing like this for AVI files, so you will need to use the external abcAVI for this. Note that AVI has very bad assumption, marking, so you're usually better with WMV or MP4.

  • codecs and .avi files

Hi, I posted a question yesterday on .avi and there was some useful answers. I installed GSpot and it tells me that the video file CODEC is MJPG/Motion JPEG, a digital camera Olympus Pen EPL1, and there is no required CODEC on the audio file. He said then the MJPG CODEC is installed on my computer, then why when I import the file into the first Elements 9, it renders very bad quality?

    Concerning

For the predefined project, you can go to the toolbar at the top of the main editing screen and look at Edit > properties for the project, at least that which was moved in PrE 9.

When CODECS are installed properly in the system, and they are those who pre can use, the program will use with the highest priority for the import. It is usually the last installed. Export/share (MJPEG is rarely used here), we got a drop-down list, which will be available in Advanced and compressor or similar syntax, but the exact location may vary by format, and also all the CODECS aren't available, there still according to the chosen format.

MJPEG, to not more than one of these two. If one has a MJPEG CODEC, installed from utility disk from the camera (could be separate install, with the driver or included it editing software), they should not need to install others, such as the camera mfgr. has optimized the contained, usually with the CODEC used by the control.

As you have the MJPEG CODEC installed, I would look first in the match between the screening of the project and source files. If there is still a gap, then hit Enter to restore the timeline or parts of it, should get a good smooth reading - Redline turns green.

Check for a first report, offset, and then we can move a few steps.

    Good luck

    Hunt

PS - I'm a big fan of the ONLY installation that the exact CODEC when required and NOT only install CODECS, that can be found. Keep his computer as clean, is it possible, is paramount.

  • exports of h.263 and .mp4 files

First off I'm under CS5 on Windows 7.

I am trying to export videos for Blackberry devices (specifically the older models which I do not support h.264 decoding.)  On my old computer, using Sorenson Squueze, I was able to produce a file that would play on older models. I exported several videos in the h.264 format, playing on the new devices, but read the audio only on older phones.

I tried to use the preset of mpeg4, but it seems to only be able to play 3gp files, and those I export does not seem to play very well, so, on devices.  There is the option under the mpeg4 preset to change the MP4 multiplexer, which I tried.  The result is always an unplayable file.  Unplayable in Device Manager, unplayable in Quicktime.  Does anyone have experience with these devices? or with the mp4 multiplexer?  Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I ran the old file, I export squeeze by GSpot so if someone of you can read it and tell me where to start, or with certainty that this folder / its properties cannot be reproduced in the first, I would be very grateful.

  • Correct the settings to use the mov and mp4 files in CS5

    Hey guys,.

1st time on the forum and probably a pretty noob question, but if I change an instructional video and images is in mp4 and mov formats, is there a particular model when you create a session that I should use? I find that my video don't line up when I import it within the parameters of HDV. I'm trying to align, but the audio shows that it is a few milliseconds each side.

    Frustrating!

    Charlie

    UPDATE *.

Now, I realized that the two videos have slightly different frame rates. MP4 is 30.01 and MOV is 29.97 could that cause synchronization problems? Any way to change this?

Convert the 30.01 to constant framerate with HandBrake

Use including a hdv preset, in my opinion, as a xdcam ex preset is a better choice. Long ago, I'm using cs5.

  • Investigation of thumbnails: thumbnails of .flv and .mp4 are no longer works. Help?

For awhile, I had photos for each video file. Recently the .flv and .mp4 thumbnails now appear as icons. How to bring back the thumbnails? Video selection and editing has been less hassle when they were stickers.

    Thank you.

    JK

First of all, check in a window of Windows Explorer on the view menu "Vignettes" are selected.  You can try something else (e.g., list), then re - click thumbnails.

Windows XP offers you support and a miniature video Manager (shmedia.dll), but as far as I know, it only handles files of the following types: .asf, .asx, .avi, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .ogg, .ogm, .wmv

You can see if the commands described here helps, but because the .flv and .mp4 are not in the list above, I suspect that they will not--> http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to-enable-or-disable-media-and-video-thumbnail-preview-in-windows-xp/

You will need to re - install some application allows you to display the .flv and .mp4 files which should re - install the thumbnail manager associated with him.

Where the thumbnail handler is still in the system and is either corrupted or must be re-recorded (as described in the link above), you can determine the file name by using ShellExView if you run ShellExView, sort the output of 'type' (if it isn't already) and look for "miniature" entries  If you right-click on an entry and select 'Properties', you will get a list of file extensions that it manages.

    * Original title: Windows Media PLayer

I have Windows Media Player version 12 installed but when you try to play .mp4 files in WMP, I hear the sound but the picture is distorted and I can't see the picture.  Please see image attached.

Even if I see that I can change the version of the file in a different format, I have the same problem with videos on websites that I can not of course change the format before playing these.

I managed to fix the problem for about 20 minutes by flattening my computer re - install the operating system and this resolved until all updates have been through, and then it disappeared again.  I tried many codecs packs and this still does not help.

My system is running Windows 7 and Media Player version is 12.0.7601.18840, which tells me that Media Player is the most recent version.

    Please can someone help?

Open uninstall a program in windows and in the left click on the feature to turn on or off windows. Clear the check box of the window Media Player, and then click ok. This will uninstall the drive, and then restart.

After restarting the same steps, now, check the box for the same and perform a restart and if all goes well it should solve the problem.

Note: Make sure that Windows is up-to-date.

  • .mp4 and .mov files are just BIG

Sorry, without posting the details of encoding, is there an obvious reason why my .mp4 and .mov files are ~ 10 x the size they should be after the SOUL? I'm talking about 300mb.mov and 30 MB .mp4 before later files. If you need details, I'll post. Thank you.

File size is determined mainly by only two factors - length and bitrate.  The used codec, resolution, frame rate, etc. all have little or no effect on the size of the file.

Length and bitrate.  If you want a smaller file, one or other of the people must be reduced.

  • I try to download an MP4 file in FCPX and get this message "no Importable none of the selected files or folders can be imported." "Changing the selection and try again" does that mean and how do I solve this problem?

I get the "No importable files" message when I try to download a webinar for editing mp4 file. I have try the MOV file and still no change.

IS the file on the computer? Are you using the FCP import window? You can open the file in QuickTime format? If you can't that means the Inspector's report?
