Color scanning

I've owned an HP PSC 2510 Photsmart al-in-one printer for over 3 years and have scanned more than 25,000 photos black & white and color during this period and the digital images stored on my PC.  These photos were taken with old devices, for which I have no slides or the original negatives.  However, I have always been pleased with the quality of the digital images of these photos.

I noticed that the quality of the images produced recently analyzed pictures is greatly declining. The images do not appear to show the true colors and the lighting seems to be blurred, almost like the condition set in an overexposed photo camera.  Because I'm not using the printer to print the images, I think that it has nothing to do with the printer cartridges, which seem to be printing the documents and photographs scanned already very well.  There is something affecting the analysis on these all-in-one printers to be replaced with the wire of time, or after a certain number of analyses?  Appreciate someone can provide all the advice.

Hi BigJohnW,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

Sorry to hear that digitized quality has disappeared on the printer.  If by chance you have the printer power cable connected to a power strip/bar, I suggest that you plug directly into a wall socket. HP printers have already built in surge protector and that could be the reason why you have questions.  If you always had it in a strip bar, the printer can fight for power on another component such as the system of distribution of ink.  Here is therefore a document explained the problems when connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power.  Please note that the printer in the document is a LaserJet printer and it appears only as an example and that this document is for HP products in general.

Please feel free to write back if you're still having problems.

Thank you for your time.

  • Inverted color scanning

    Hi elweezo,

Reversing black and white using the interface of scanning your PIXMA MP495 only is not supported.  To invert the colors, the issue will have to be scanned and then reversed using software such as Adboe Photoshop or Jasc Paint Shop Pro for image editing.

    Hey Dozrtravlin,

Looks like there is a hardware problem as you mentioned in the post.  However, there is a step that I recommend to try.  This step is to perform a factory reset the printer to ensure that it is not a problem in the internal software of the printer.  I have these steps and they will send you a private message.  Before performing these steps please read thread of Bob_Headrick on printer resets found here.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 - black lines when copying, colored scanning lines

    Hello

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600. When I try to copy from glass, copy of ADF, I get black lines going the length of the pages. Whenver I scan, once more, the glass or ADF I get lines colored, ranging from the length of the analysis. I called HP customer service and the representative told me clean the glass and part inside of the ADF, but the problem still remains. No idea if this is a common problem? More important still, how fix it.

Do a hard rest on the printer. Let the printer and unplug the power cord. In doing so, it will remove the lines.

When a solution is found, please indicate the position that solves your problem.

If I have solved your problem, please do not hesitate to provide laurels and make sure that you mark this thread as provided solution!

I have a Mac with OS 10.8.2 and HP Officejet 4500 wireless printer.  I can scan, but it is not upward in color on the Mac.  Only B & W.  I don't have any software for PDF files.  I have only to display PDF files in 'Preview' on the Mac.  What I need to buy software to get the scans to come up in color, or is there a setting on the Mac or the printer?  When I print it is set to "scan color" but always returns to B & W.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Nate,

  • Strips of color scanning with scanjet 3970

Hello. After several years of work very well, my scanjet 3970 is a failure. When I scan it shows on the screen preview and saved file bands colored in the picture. I use Win XP and the latest drivers. The problem also arises when I scan from any twain app or Win XP "scanner and camera" Control Panel app.

The problem has nothing to do with the effects of moiré or any type of effect of ground and also appears when you scan a page completely black or white.

  • Art of color scanned in Sketch?

Hi - I recently bought an iPad Pro and Apple pencil I can use sketches to color for my graphic novel pages. I normally draw on paper and in the scanner and colour it in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet, but it's long and laborious and I hoped to be able to do it directly on the screen with the Apple pencil would make it more natural and fun (and faster).

I found how to import the scan black and white drawing in the sketch, but it does not appear that there is an available blending mode (like multiply in Photoshop) which would enable a layer underneath the linework of color and being able to see through it. I don't want to lower the opacity of the line art because I need the lines to be nice and black.

Is it possible that I can do this - this seems to be a fairly simple operation, but it is worrying as research if it is not possible?

    Thanks in advance

    Scarlett

    Hello, Scarlett,.

Here's a fun work around the use of watercolor brushes I love. on the sketch. I hope it's useful for you.

    1. open in a new Web on the sketch.

    2. press on the icon + to add a new layer and choose layer from the Image. Access your analysis and import it.

You can change the scan imported to your taste, and when you're done scaling, click 'Done '.

    3. now for coloring! Add a new drawing layer by pressing the icon +. Choose a watercolor, for example the dish of Watercolor Brush, or the round Watercolor Brush. Choose a color and paint colorful washes transparent on your image.

    4. in addition, you can use several layers if necessary. The opacity of the drawing with colored wash layers and the layer of the image can be adjusted. To adjust the opacity of a layer, give the layer a long-press and open the layer dialog. Adjust the layer opacity by using the slider.

I hope you have fun with this watercolor work around.

    Happy, sketching,

  • 6520 HP scan the docs of color like B & W a MacBook - PDF & color scanned photo docs are fragmented

    I have a HP Photosmart 6520 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier... I use a MacBook Pro, which has Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2. I've linked the 6520 wireless via a "n" wireless TP Link ADSL2 modem/router.

I scan a document of color for the MBP, using 6520 display panel, if I choose (in the settings) "Scan Type > Document (PDF)", the result is a PDF black & - not white. I would have thought that he would transmit the color scanner. It never occurred to ask me about it when I bought the camera.

If, on the contrary, for the same color paper, I select "Scan Type > Photo (JPEG)" the result is more "fragmented".jpeg files, each showing only a small element of the scanned rather than see the page as a feature complete in a single file (but they come out in color!).

I'm something wrong or missing something? Is B & W PDF standard? How can I force a color document can be completely copied into a .jpeg file? Once more, any advice will be accepted with gratitude.

    Hello jkaminky

When you press on copy and go to the settings adjust you the lighter/Darker? Also are you running the latest firmware? What operating system do you use?

    Travis,

Yes, the printer was up to date in its fireware. I am running Win 7 Pro (64), but the problem resurfaced surface during a copy operation only one position from the table of the printer. I advanced the lighter/Darker the maximum setting and it helped, but not as 'Normal' of origin. If I chose a copy in color at the keyboard, a B & W document came out excellent. My troubleshooting reveled that the problem wasn't actually in the scaning aspects of printing of the operation.

I made a number of steps with scaning of troubleshooting. I carried out all them from the table and sent output to a flash drive on the printer. I wanted to keep the remote computer. Even from the keyboard on the preview screen, I could see the very light scans of B & W, I did a number of quality adjustments to their levels of maxminum with an improvement, but not quite to its previous level of quality.

I was ready to leave when he came for me to restart the printer. I turned it off and unplug the power cord. After a short wait, I reconnected the power and the printer. He was back to his old self well with everything that normal value. It's now a happy printer with a happy owner.

Thanks for the reply. Take this into account if another comes with a problem on the copies where the copies n & B are very low, but color copies are very good.

    Thanks again.
