HP Officejet Pro 8600 - black lines when copying, colored scanning lines

Hello

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600. When I try to copy from glass, copy of ADF, I get black lines going the length of the pages. Whenver I scan, once more, the glass or ADF I get lines colored, ranging from the length of the analysis. I called HP customer service and the representative told me clean the glass and part inside of the ADF, but the problem still remains. No idea if this is a common problem? More important still, how fix it.

Do a hard rest on the printer. Let the printer and unplug the power cord. In doing so, it will remove the lines.

When a solution is found, please indicate the position that solves your problem.

If I have solved your problem, please do not hesitate to provide laurels and make sure that you mark this thread as provided solution!
Although I work for HP, my messages and responses are my own opinion and not of HP

  • OfficeJet pro 8600 black vertical lines of print when copying

I got a new of OfficeJet Pro 8600 a couple of weeks, and it worked fine until today, when I tried to copy something. I can always print from my pc and scan without problem, but when I try to copy a document (if I load it into the tray or put it on the scanner) the page comes out covered with black vertical lines of different sizes. It seems that this isn't the ink or the scanner since I can print from my pc and analysis very well.

    Help, please!

This unit is plugged into a wall outlet directly? If this isn't the case, then try to connect the unit to a wall outlet directly.

The 8600 Officejet Pro has built in the surge protector and double this feature may cause some problems.

Also, try to reset the printer hard:
    * Unplug the unit while the printer is on
Disconnect the other end of the power cable from the wall socket direct
    * Wait 30 seconds
    * Plug the unit to the top

Let me know if it helps.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 black printing/copying has vertical lines on the page. The color is fine.

HP Officejet Pro 8600.  at 2 weeks.

    Windows XP

Color copies/prints are very good.  Black prints/copies have vertical lines widths, ranging from top to bottom.  This occurs when it is copied to form glass or through the feeder.

    Suggestions?

If the unit is producing lines in copies, so I suggest checking a few things. Make sure that the printer is plugged into a wall outlet directly and not in a surge protector. Additionally, make sure that the glass of the scanner (including the small strip on the left) are clean.

  • Over Pro 8600 black line vertically when printing from charger only

One year old Officejet Pro 8600 Plus on iMac running OSX Maverick works very well.  For the last week, all the copies show clean, black, original vertical when line is loaded from the top of the charger page. This line does not appear when they are copied from the glass.  The line stops about 1/8 "from top and bottom of the copy.  It is exactly 6 "between the left edge of the copy, 2-1/2" from the right edge.  I had a paper jam tray - but months before this line started to show.  Nothing else recently that I'm aware of that could be the cause.

How can I get rid of him?  Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Office Jet Pro 8600: Black Line on my 8600 Pro JO

Im having the same problem as many have had over the years. I was getting several lines back when I scanned and copied files (not when you printing from the computer, seems to only happen when I use the feed. I did what others said and it disconnected a surge protector and left it unplugged for two hours. After, lines of light disappeared but a dark one is still there. Ive cleaned the rollers or at least tried. How to hide the car for him give a good clean, if that's what continues. Thank you.

The document here can help solve the black lines to scan using the ADF on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.  From my experience this is almost always caused by a specification on the thin glass on the side left which is used for scanning using the ADF.  Cleaning of this area as described in the above document should solve the problem.  If the initial cleanup does not resolve the problem, it can help to shine a bright flashlight almost parallel to the glass.  For a line on the left side of the printed page, the place will be toward the front of the printer, if the line is on the right side of the document, it must correspond to a specification to the rear of the printer.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 more on glass copy problem

When I try to copy on glass, the bar scanner does not move to the far right edge so it cut about 3 inches from the top of the copied document. Scan from document feeding and sending items to be printed work very well.

Hi @MKortan and welcome to the Forums of HP!

I understand that you are having problems to copy.  I would try to help!

What size of paper do you use?

I recommend you to perform a power reset the printer.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

Also, try to plug the power to the printer into a different wall outlet.

I suggest you then update the firmware of the printer:

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a: HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a - Print when Fax is not saved

Can I do so a fax is printed when it is not registered?

I know that I can put to print and save every time, but I trust HP digital fax to save paper.

If a fax is not registered, either because of a network error, or if the computer that logs usually in is cut off, can just fax be printed?

@MrMeow, it's nice to meet you.

I think I found something that can help your fax dilemma.

This information has been in the User Guide for the Officejet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one - N911a; PG 69.

    Set up backup fax

According to your needs best and security, you can configure the printer to store all faxes it receives, only faxes it receives while the printer is in an error condition, or none of the faxes it receives.

The following fax backup modes are available:

On >  The default setting. When backup fax is enabled, the printer stores all faxes received in memory. This allows you to reprint up to eight more recently printed faxes if they are always saved in the memory.

NOTE: When the memory of the printer is low, it replaces faxes print, older because it receives new faxes. If the memory is full of unprinted faxes, printer stop to answer incoming fax calls.

NOTE: If you receive a fax that is too large, as a very detailed color photo, it cannot be stored in memory due to limitations of memory.

Error only > Causes the printer to store faxes in memory only if there is an error condition that prevents the printer to print the faxes (for example, if the printer is out of paper). The printer continues to store incoming faxes, as long as the memory is available. (If the memory is full, the printer stops responding to incoming fax calls). When the error condition is resolved, the faxes stored in memory automatically, print and then they are deleted from the memory.

Off >  Faxes are never stored in memory. For example, you might want to disable fax backup for security reasons. If an error condition occurs which prevents the printer to print (for example, tracks paper printer), the printer stops responding to incoming fax calls.

NOTE: If the backup fax is turned on and you turn the printer off, all faxes stored in memory are deleted, including any unprinted faxes that you might receive while the printer was in an error condition. You must contact the senders asking them to return the unprinted faxes. To get a list of faxes that you have received, print the Fax log. The Fax journal is not removed when the printer is off.

To set backup fax from the printer control panel

1 tap (right arrow) and select Setup.

    2. press Fax Setup, and then click Advanced fax setup.

    3. press on the backup Fax reception.

    4. press on , error, or out of service.

Reprint of faxes received from memory

If you set backup fax mode to On, received faxes are stored in memory, whether the printer has an error condition or not.

NOTE: After that the memory is full, the oldest faxes, prints are replaced as new faxes are received. If all stored faxes are not printed, the printer does not receive fax calls until you print or erase memory faxes. You can also delete the faxes in memory for purposes of confidentiality or security.

According to the sizes of the faxes in memory, you can reprint up to eight more recently printed faxes, if they are still in memory. For example, you will need to re - print your faxes if you have lost the copy of your last draw.

To reprint the faxes in memory from the printer control panel

    1. make sure you have loaded paper in the main tray.

2 tap (right arrow) and select Setup.

    3. touch Tools , or Faxand then select reprint faxes in memory. The faxes are printed in reverse order, where they were received with the most recently received fax printed first, and so on.

    4. If you want to stop reprinting the faxes in memory, press the Cancel button.

Please let me know if these steps solved your problem, or if there is anything else I can do to help.

I look forward to hear from you!

    Thank you

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 more. No menu auto scan when loading documents in the ADF?

I have an Officejet Pro 8600 more again to replace the L7780 who brought up the menu scan, when a document is loaded into the autofeeder.  How can I get the only 8600 to do the same.  I find that I liked the convenience of the automatic menu, but it does not come to the top when I load the document (s) to scan in the ADF.  This feature has been discontinued?

Thank you.  I do enjoy the printer but miss this feature that I scan all my documents in my computer to avoid to keep a lot of paper.

  • OfficeJet pro 8600: not possible to change the scanning of the Panel of the printer resolution settings

With my Officejet pro 8600, there is no possibility to change the scanning resolution settings when you are working in the control panel of the printer (not present button to touch) when I want to scan to the computer, while in the manual it is mentioned that, after pressing the Document Type, it should be possible to reach the resolution to change the resolution of the scan setting. On the other hand, when the scan to a memory card the button change the resolution settings is present.

Sometimes for the scanning of all computers to select (winXP SP3 installed on it). The HP printing software is installed on all computers and manage digitization to the computer is turned on. It is possible to change the resolution settings when using my computer with the HP printing software, but as I said not in the use of the printer.

Thank you to help you solve the problem!

    Hey mk75053,

Scanning to memory card has the parameters of resolution through the front because that is the only way for the device perform this type of analysis.  However, to change the resolution settings for the Scan of the computer, one will have to perform scans through the software installed on the PC.

I have all three types of 8600 models where I am located (base, more high quality) and of all printers simply ask to start the analysis after selecting the scan type.

    I hope this helps.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Premiun: deleting e-mail in scanning to e-mail option

My scan-to-email address book is full. I need to remove the address that I no longer use. I have not found the option to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hello @ImaTazzie73 ,

I understand that you have difficulties to change the address book for your Officejet Pro 8600 Premium.

I want to help you with this.

He says that your operating system is windows 7. On your desktop, you should have an icon that looks like your printer.

It should be named HP Officejet pro 8600.

If you double-click on this it should open the Printer Wizard.

Here there is another icon, you can click to scan to e-mail.

It should open a tool that will allow you to edit the address book.

    Another option is as follows.

Tap the wireless on your printer and note the IP address.

Using Chrome or another favorite browser, type the IP address in the URL bar.

This should take you printers EWS (built-in web server)

    Select the tab labeled scan.

You should now see where you can edit or change your address book.

I hope this helps you. Let me know if you would like more details, and I dwell.

  • hp officejet pro 8600 premium: lines when scanning or copying using the ADF.

I get a black page line everytime I try to copy or scan using the ADF. I tried to unplug the printer for 30 seconds and in him plugging everything into a wall as stated in a previous post. I also cleaned the glass for scanning.

    Hi RedShawLaw:

Please follow the steps in troubleshooting found here.  The ADF uses a specific area of the glass.  A small piece of dust or smears may affect ADF scans, so special attention to the cleaning instructions part.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911a: Can print / copy in colour, but not black

Last night, tried to make a copy of the Officejet directly black and got a page of black streaks almost completely dark.  Tried to copy the same document in color and got a nice copy.

Today, I tried scanning a document from hp on my computer software.  Got the same streaks.  Scanned in color and got a good clear scan.

It may be dirt on the glass which would affect color and black too, right?

    Grayscale printing is fine.

How can I solve the problem?

No worries on forget everything shuts off and turns back on.

I saw the power of the printer and the new solve a lot of problems, but it's the first time I've seen do so solve the problem with black streaks.

One thing that I would check if it happens again is to make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Copy and scan functions can behave a bit strange if the printer does not have enough power.

I'm glad that you all fixed. If you need anything else please let me know, otherwise have a great day!

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 - paper format and copy

I have an original document which is 216 x 330mm (8.5 x 13 in) and the paper of the same size. I want to copy the document to its original on the document size. When I try this, thumbs down, or so of the original are not copied. Now, for reasons known only to HP, the "Paper size" menu (on the printer) in the copy options gives a very limited number of possible paper sizes, and 8.5 x 13 is not one of them. From there, I understand:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/scanning-faxing-and-copying/unable-to-copy-legal-size-on-HP7610/m-p/297...

that replace the region of the printer setting affects which paper sizes are available under the menu copy and this seems to be true, but I tried a lot of different countries and none of them include 8.5 x 13.

My only option was to scan the document and print it then my PC. Note that when you print from the PC the 8.5 x 13 size is available, and if I get the result I want - an enlarged copy on paper of the same size. However, it's much slower just made a copy of the printer, and if I had to copy a large number of documents, it would be really possible.

So is there a solution to this? I for the life of me don't understand why everyone thought it would be a good idea to limit considerably the range of sizes available destination when copying. What would be really nice would be to have all of the available formats, the same list see you if you go to 'Print Options' on the PC, the printer, what that is the region, and if this list is deemed to be a bit heavy so to choose the settings by default, perhaps in an 'Advanced' options menu

    Hi Bell,

I cut paper format legal until Folio and tested on a 8600 JO.

I found that the setting of the copy to legal size and feed the page via the ADF has copied the entire page on Folio paper I created.

There is no errors if the printer did not bother the paper more short.

  • new e-all-in-one officejet pro 8600 black does not print

I can't print in black with my new printer.

HP says it's out of warranty. I bought it on Amazon of Bob Electronics and they had him as a monitor in use. Has not been used, but if the warrantly expired.

    Hello @ Tallgrayguy,

I understand that you can't print with black ink cartridges. I would try to help with this problem.

Chances are while the printer was sitting as a model of display used, the dried out print head. It's too bad that most print heads are not something you would find at your local big box store.

On the front panel of your printer, press the arrow outside the screen. Select Configuration.

Then tap Tools.  From there, locate the printhead cleaning option. Try this three times.

I hope that this will work. If it isn't I would like to refer you to a post from Bob_Headrick.

black ink does not.  I read the document completely, and then decide if it fits your situation.

I would like to know how things will go.
