Color spaces do not stick...?

What is confusing: I have a layered file, assigned color space is sRGB. I save a png file via save for Web, check the option to convert the export in sRGB. Everything looks good in the save to preview 2 - up web. But when I opened the new png file, it's the color profile is defined in Adobe RGB and color space appears off - is not as he did in the SFW preview.

Details: My default color space is Adobe RGB. Synchronized on all CS5 applications. I have the option checked to warn me on the inadequacy of the profile when opening a file. So far so good.

So it seems that my working space (Adobe RGB) color is the substitution of parameters SFW and my document color space settings

Same thing happens when registering as a jpg.

Any thoughts?

Economy on a PNG in save for Web will delete the profile. The box converts the numbers in sRGB, but the profile itself is stripped. So when you reopen this file untagged, the workspace is assigned.

A regular PNG, however, will keep the profile, even if the checkbox "add profile" is gray.

It's just how the current implementation of PNG in Photoshop. It makes no sense, but that's it. What you see is actually the standard "normal" behavior.

Regarding the jpeg, the default to save for Web is also to strip the profile, but you have the choice to incorporate at least here (you have not with PNG).

    Hello

I have a few questions related to printing from lightroom, I'm new on this bare with me.

    (1) I have a canon 7 d I shoot in Raw 12-14 bit? and most of my treatment is done in lightroom, so no need to export to photoshop, however if I would be this export as 16-bit tiff or Jpeg? So, if I had to after post-processing in photoshop then back in lightroom, this would allow only me to print in tiff or jpeg format is correct as a psd/jpeg file?

    (2) given that I only edit in lightroom I can print directly in Raw CR2 format 12-14 bit using canon plugin pro printing studio? or is it exported to the translator as a 16-bit file? and then use the ICC profile that is (canon paper) for best results paper mill, I lose a quality of colour printing by printing from Raw 12-14 bits instead of 16-bit tiff/jpeg.

    (3) using the profiles of ICC paper mill, the original raw will deposit 12-14 bit sRGB 7Dcamera be translated to the printer default Lightroom or is the color space is not necessary because I have not converted to 16-bit in post processing?

    (3) I did not have my calibrated monitor yet but intend to do so in the future, but until then I'm not messing around with pro, photoRGB Pro or Adobe RGB or sRGB mode.

    (4) if I use lightrooms canon pro printing studio Player is the color space translated automatically the settings of my camera or do I have to activate it in lightroom first?.

    (5) I use a Mac running yosemite 10.10 and to learn more about ICC profiles where the factory ICC profiles download how and where to store can you recommend a joint Web site to learn how to do this on a mac?

    (6) as you can see I want to just print the best images from the camera to the printer without much science involved but I'm willing to learn, but get confused with the post-production of workspace different menu software for best results, that I'd do it prosume until I get my proffesionally calibrated monitor would print from Raw with the factory ICC profiles?

    7) color space and calibration of the parameters are all about what you have on the print screen or it is mainly for the depth of extra color to print?

I can calibrate my monitor on adobe RGB and have my camera shoot on adobe RGB-calibration with the software, but said I need correct color surveillance devices? If I were to do this and still just used paper ICC profiles the footprints would be better?

My first impressions were excellent, very similar to what I see on the screen in all cases but I checked the lightrooms settings and these are on Pro photo RGB for external editing and it of color space for printing pluggin also studio, or is it just native Raw sRGB if I change the settings it says I'll lose the color space maxium potential.

Sorry for the influx of questions :-)

Hahnemühle has an excellent explanation on downloading and adding profiles for PC and Mac

    http://www.Hahnemuehle.com/en/digital-FineArt/ICC-profiles/installing-profiles.html

Print Studio Pro is rather obscure on the use of profiles than those installed, but it's pretty simple.

In the area of setting printer settings choosing fine arts I or II (I used one and it seems to work)

Then in the color management box, use the pull down to find the right profile added.

  • Is there a way in LR to say what color space photo is stored in?

I have a lot of files Tiff 16-bit in my Lightroom library.  I'm looking for a simple way to determine what color space has been assigned to them.  The only way I know to find out is to open them in Photoshop.  Lightroom has a way to tell me?  This seems like a pretty basic capacity for high level like Lightroom photo software, but I can't.  File Tiff still has numbers RGB of origin who had the RAW file, or have been changed as a result of the color space used?  If the original numbers are still there, so maybe that the assigned color space is not serious, and I can change it if I want to? I'm using Lightroom 5.5 on a windows 7 64 system.

In Lr5 - Yes, well: sorta...

No display on the right metadata, or in lib filters, but smart collections have rule - see 'color-> color Source profile. Unfortunately, one must know ahead what to look for, but still: it's better than nothing...

    For example:

Rounds to the top of all the photos with the Adobe RGB profile.

And you can have another with "contains the sRGB..."

  • Can not unlock the profile sRGB color space drop, Help!

I need to unlock the next file to install adobe cs4 on my windows vista system:

    C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\color\sRGB Color Space Profile.icm

I downloaded the program "unlocker 1.8.8" but when I try to run the file, I get a message "no locking handle found. I tried to "install profile" as well, but nothing happens when I press this option. Also, when I go in the file properties > security, it only allows me to add 'total control' to the 'system' or the 'administrators' account I am at a loss. Help, please!

Thank you for your answer! I was able to install adobe cs4 without opening the file after all. I followed solution 6 on the adobe forums page you suggested above (adobe customer service offers I do solution 1 and 6 and since I could not with solution 1, I did solution 6) then quit all programs and restart the computer. I then leave all the start up programs and tried to install again and it worked (the program has been completely uninstalled before that I did). Thank you :-)

It will happen when your Photoshop color settings (image 1) does not match your files.  The first thing to do is to check your color settings (Edit > parameters of color or shift-command-K).  You will see that mine is set to ProPhoto RGB.  When you use RAW files, you can set the desired picture profile by clicking on the link at the bottom of the window of Camera RAW, which will bring up the workflow Options (image 2).  Here, you can see that mine is set to ProPhoto RGB, which means I'm not all conflicts.  You will have the profile matches no window, when these are different.

Most cameras have the possibility of sRGB and Adobe RGB for RAW files no, and when the RAW capture ignores this parameter allows to set in the workflow window.  I hope this helps.

  • Photoshop does not recognize the monitor color space

I have a screen that supports Adobe RGB color space, but when I try to open a picture saved in this color space it tells me that my workspace supports sRGB IEC... and so wonder if I want to change the color on the picture profile or keep. Can it be because its only on the calibration in the factory and the first I need to recalibrate using a calibration device? I have tryied to use google, but in fact I was not yet able to formulate it to search correctly and only found nothing that could help me.  I use the BenQ sw2700 monitor if it helps.

suggest you to calibrate your monitor profile

I use upstream, that allowed color spaces are CMYK. When I place a RGB file, preflight reports an error (very good). But when I add the Fx (effect) does not forward flight "Bevel and Emboss", report an error, which is really annoying. How can I fix? I like to have 'The transparency blend space' on "Document CMYK" and in the preflight profile "Fusion of transparent space" required: "CMYK".

Interestingly, if I copy and paste your images into a new doc 2 points scored.

I think that the solution is to assign the CMYK printer profile in the document. In this case, you no longer control upstream for RGB color, because by default it is converted to CMYK space correct on export or print output.

  • When Lightroom does not display color space?

When Lightroom does not display color space is assigned to an image? It should be in the metadata Panel. In Bridge, it displays color Mode: RGB/B & W and color space: sRGB/Gray Gamma 2.2. Or Lightroom all converted Adobe RGB or ProPhoto RGB?

The ExifMeta plugin (free) will show the color profile in the metadata Panel.

  • How can I convert in the NTSC color space?

I'm at the graphic point to a Roku application that requires that colors spreads without danger in the SDTV NTSC color space. For example, I can't have true colours black white or real. They are not allowed.

There is a space of RGB colors. When I create a new document in CS6, I choose this profile as the color space. However, I am still able to stick in the images that have a pure white in them. When I save the document for the web and devices, he always saves with pure white.

I am sure I did this conversion in the past before, but I can't make it work in CS6. I tried going in Edition-> assign profile and Edit-> convert colors in profile, but in both cases, I'm still up to the end pure white.

    How is that possible?

    Hello

See if filter > video > NTSC colors makes a difference.

  • Exporting color changes do not...

Hello and thanks in advance for the help!

I'm trying to export a bunch of pictures that I tweaked the color on and a few other parameters. Saturation lowered, sharp, etc...

When I put the lightroom and the jpg in any other viewer side by side, export resembles the original before it has been tweaked. Too red, too much saturation. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I tried to export an image no different and unique and a bouquet. In Lightroonm, they look amazing. Exported, they do not.

    All ideas will be useful.

    Thanks, joe

The Dell 3011 is a Monitor wide gamut.  This means that colors will be correct only with programs such as LR color managed.  I think that Picassa is not color managed.  Photo Viewer Windows 7 is color managed, is not the equivalent of XP (photo and Fax Viewer).  Browsers are not managed by color except Firefox and (to a lesser extent) Safari.

The fact that LR seems OK suggests a profile provided by Dell was responsible.  If there is an installation disc with the monitor, which probably loaded a profile.  However will not be as good that create a profile with a hardware colorimeter (ColorMunki Display, Spyder 4...) which cost about $120 to the top.

Wide range of monitors are great (I have a) that they can display a wide range of colors than the standard screens gamut more - but you must use color managed programs to get the colors right.  The reason: most of the images are sRGB and most of the software assume everything is sRGB and monitors of the normal range are very roughly sRGB color space.  So everything kind of works (very roughly) without color management if you stick to sRGB and have a range standard screen.

  • Projection of images and the question of the color space

We are having a discussion in our photo club. We use a projector to project the images of the competition. For years, we used Faststone Viewer to project images. We have the usual problems of people not calibrate their monitors and sometimes the colors match does not, but it worked pretty well.  Now that the people who handle the projection are competent in LR, they use LR on a Windows laptop, to organize and display the images via the projector. The projector is a projector of sRGB VGA.  Some argue that LR will cause problems because it uses the Adobe RGB color space as the space of display colors. (We know that the native color space is ProPhoto). Others think it will display images in space sRGB color to the projector as you can when you export an image. I can't find anything in Adobe help pages on this subject.

Here is a contribution to the debate to give you an idea of what some people are talking about:

I understand that LR will send bits of images (in the Adobe RGB color space) to the Windows API and in turn the bits are returned on the LCD screen and exit VGA via LCD/VGA color profiles associated. That is my understanding of the viewer FastStone sends the image bits being without modification in the color space. LR sends the bits altered the Adobe RGB color space. Assuming that both programs require the same Windows API, the images must return the same, but they do not. My conclusion is that the former is in sRGB and the latter in Adobe RGB. I guess they call the same APIs because you can open a jpeg file in Windows Picture Viewer (applet in Win7) and see a different rendering of FastStone, it does not use the color managed API.

Anyone who can shed some light on this delicate subject?

You actually want an app like Lightroom or Bridge to view images on your projector and not the unmanaged faststone Viewer or something like. Lightroom translated correctly the image on the destination for the projector profile regardless of the original color of images space. It is best to calibrate them and profile projector in addition to your monitor. Some of the highest fine adjustment washers support projectors too. It is rare that these projectors really are sRGB. They are usually somewhat narrower. Some of the more recent are wider gamut when using LEDs or lasers instead of bulbs.

  • Color space options

It's on the menu "Export As.... ».  I can either, both or neither of the two boxes and it seems a bit contradictory.  For example, convert without coating seems to be useless.  What do the various combinations?

    Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 10.38.15 AM.png

Conversion will change your image color space sRGB. It's better to display pictures on the Web in browsers managed UN-color, than no conversion at all.

Incorporation of the profile - means that a color managed application (for example, photoshop and some but not all browsers) doesn't have to guess that the image is sRGB - it is told and can therefore display correctly.
For the web - I check them both.
