Combatiability fiber Module

Hello

I need to know who is Cisco C3850-NM-8-10 G switch Module is Compatible with the Cisco ONS-TR-100-LX10 (Sonet Mux).

Thank you

I don't think that there is compatible options.  The closest would be GLC - FE - 100LX, but it is not listed as being compatible with a 3850.  I don't quite see 3850 SFP listed as 100LX in support.  So I think you're out of luck.

    Hello

We recently purchased a cisco asr 1001 router and I have a number of interface units. I want to fill these with fiber modules.

Can you tell me what fiber modules are compatible Please? SFP regular ok to use or is there a special series of asr of FPS to use?

    Thank you very much

    Paul

    Paul,

You reason that GLC - T & GLC - SX - MM is not supported with the ASR1000 platform.

    The following link confirms that:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/OL_6981.html#wp131775

More FPS are supported with ASR1000 platform:

    SFP-GE-T

    SFP-GE-S
    SFP-GE-L
    SFP-GE-Z
    CWDM SFP
    DWDM SFP

    GLC-BX-D
    GLC-BX-U

I handled a similar case yesterday where GLC - T wouldn t aith ASR1k & I confirmed that it would be not be funded in the future as well.

  • Investigation on compatibility of combine fiber HP Module.

    I have a Cisco switch s 2960 PoE installed.

I was wondering if the fiber HP #AJ718A ( http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/3790470 ) module is compatible with it.

If it is compatible, is there much difference between it and the cisco GLC-SX-MM?

    Thank you

I was wondering if the HP Fiber module #AJ718A   ( http://h30094.www3.hp.com/product/sku/3790470 ) is compatible with it.

No, it won't.  You insert the SFP in a Cisco 2960 S and the port goes into 'err - disable' until you remove them.

is there much difference between it and the cisco GLC-SX-MM ?

Not a lot of difference.  There are only a few FPS manufacturers that provide components for the major manufacturers like HP and Cisco.  The difference is that Cisco has inserted a brand Cisco SFP IDPROM algo.  The unit will interrogate the component and if the extracted from the IDPROM hash values do not match, then the port goes in "err - disable.

  • Nexus F2e series modules

Can someone tell me what is the difference between F2 and new F2e?  All I can find is supportive effect. Isn't it?

The biggest complaint (and Gotcha) when people bought the N7K-F248XP-25 (aka standard F2) is an inability of the online map to work with F1 and M1/M2 card.  The F2 has be in it's own little VDC.   No member of Cisco would have admitted that it was due to a technical fault (or disaster).

Thus the F2e is born.  Whatever the standard F2 can do, the F2e can do as well.  And the F2e can work with M1/M2.  "And when that happens (as indicated on the data sheet)" when you deploy the Module Cisco Nexus 7000 F2e-series fiber has VCC with the Cisco Nexus 7000 M Series modules, the Nexus 7000 F2e - series Cisco Fiber Module will run in mode Layer 2 only, delegating all capabilities of layer 3 for the Cisco Nexus 7000 M-modules of the series present in the VDC. The initial version of the software does not support this feature. »

The F2e comes in two "forms": 1/10BaseTx 48-ports or SFP / SFP +.

As the "F2", the F2e still won't be able to support the OTV (integrating F2 series Modules in a Cisco Nexus 7000 Series System).

Due to the release of the new map of F2e expect Cisco to announce (within 6 months) at the end of sale of the standard map of F2.  (My own opinion, read below for refutation of the management team Cisco Nexus 7000 Production.)

I don't know what Cisco will do to customers who bought the standard F2 by mistake.  Cisco quietly will allow them to trade or swap for F2e?  Only people (like Jerry) in Cisco will know.

  • Auto-negotiation in fiber

    Hi all

I came across this doubt recently, while I was assigned to a "Revamping" for a network inherited project.

As part of a temporary installation, we are required to connect two switches:

    A. 2950 switch with port MTRJ fiber types.

    B. 2960 S series with Gigabit Ethernet Ports with GLC-SX-MM modules in them.

    The underlying fiber is multi-mode.

    If my request is:

If these switches would work if linked together?

    It's

    [Port MTRJ 2950 (10/100)] <-------------------------------------->[Port gig of 2960 with glc-sx-mm (100/10/100)]

I understand that it is an uplink 10/100 and 10/100/100. It will in this case auto-negotiation ports fiber?

Is there an incompatibility in the functioning of the wavelength of these two ports? (Sorry, if that, a silly question, but I'm new on this!)

    Thanks in advance!

     from fibre ports don't autonegotiate?

You want to say "single" speed?  Or 100 or 1000?

It is the standard of optical fiber.  Cisco did not rule.

The only way for you to go either 100Mbps/1000/10 - / 40 - / 100Gbps depends on what optical fiber module, you want to use.

  • Trouble seeing vhba of UCS on Nexus 5 k

I have UCS > 6100 (a/b) > nexus 5 k (a / b) > emc vnx 5300.  I have two installed VSAN and my switch can see two ports on my vnx5300 with show flogi. However, my 5ks don't see the vhba on the ucs system. I have two vhba configured, a tissue in one and the other for fabric b. From now the nexus is connected to the 6100 as a port channel. Ports-channel is configured as a trunk. Now, this makes me think that this is where the vsan communication is a failure. The connection to the 6100 and nexus needs to be something more than a simple trunk?

    Dennis

    Dennis,

I hope that you give on the Fiber Channel uplinks to your N5K and not Eth/FCoE (there no FCOE Multihop yet).

Assuming that you have your 6100's with CF logs to your N5Ks and the N5K "npiv' enabled, you should see the flogi to your host vHBAs.

The CLI of 6100 you can also 'connect nxos' and 'show flogi npv' which will show you the CF sessions between your 6100 and N5K - I find where you problem.

All of your SAN connections would travel on the module of Fibre Channel 6100, up to Channel N5K Fiber module, then to your table.  You can always trunk and channel ports SAN your rising FC.  Just to confirm that this is what you did and not using uplink Ethernet to your N5K waiting to work.

Can you provide a diagram or a detail the exact topology (Eth, FC etc)

    Kind regards

    Robert

  • New to virtualization - strategy

Greetings; first of all, my apologies if this is the wrong forum - there is so much!

For the moment, we have about 30 servers, all running on their own physical units.  While we don't are not thinking about moving all over the place, I write a budget plan for the new hardware and licenses, and virtualization is the way I would go.  I will get an expert, if need be, but I really need to have both a possible knowledge before I get to this step. I recently installed a unit with the free edition of vsphere, and it looks decent.

The availability is important (when isn't?), but the cost is an important factor; I think I'm going to need to go with two main strategies and see what they go with - that's what I'm trying to do now.  Sorry for the annoying back-story!  I'm not after a beakful, hand-holding, just a steer in the right direction.  The Essentials Plus package looks like a reasonable option, I am looking at two or three servers, maybe R710s; Here is my understanding of what you would seek to:

    High-availability:

VMotion would be necessary, which means I need NAS, DAS not.  iSCSI is reasonable, but I am concerned somewhat about bandwidth; with 10 GB switches cost so much, I might as well watch a switch of fiber 8 GB like the Brocade 300.  VMotion does not work with local storage, so I would need a few units of SIN (maybe Dell MD3600f) with a couple of connections from each server.  Images of server must replicate to SAR units.

    Cheaper:

DAS (MD1200) connected to each server, so no additional cost on the switches and fiber modules.  Images may be saved on local storage and the server failure, the DAS may be related to one of the other servers and virtual machines run there temporarily.  I may be able to get away with essentials, rather essential more.

    How far is my understanding?

I think that your approach is good, but I don't think to use the DAS (because it will limit so). The Essentials pack + iSCSI seems to be the cheapest you will have (I also had my concerns about Gbit in the past, but I think you should give it a try on this case - 30 VMs should not generate a huge load on the channel gbit, and you always and easily can add an additional path and manually load balance). If you want automatic HA, you need much more, but if you don't mind waking up at night for failover manually your machines in case of distress, yor is good to go.

A detail also: MD1200 is not supported for any version of vSphere, so always check www.vmware.com/go/hcl before you start to think about the material. The md3600i is taken in charge or in FC and iSCSI.

If you need additional information, let us know.

  • Grey raw device mapping

We are implementing vsphere 5. our host machine is HP DL 380 G7 and storage storage IBM DS. We are implementing SAS SAN using HBA cables. There is no iSCSI or fiber module. We want to implement file on vphere server using win Server 2008 R2 SP1. We want to access our data directly from SAN LUN and not vmware data store. Whenever we try to add disks of virtual machines, raw device mapping is gray. If we check in the adapters of storage, we can see available LUNS. I don't add it to the data store. still, it is grayed out. Why? Please help us

    Welcome to the community,

Please read http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1017704 to find out if your storage system supports the RDM and whether it's save to disable the ROW filter. Article is not tagged for ESXi 5.0, but I guess this also applies.

  • can I use both optical and fiber sfp modules?

    Hello

I have 2 stacked 3548 P PowerConnect switches. The top switch got uplink fiber of 1 MM (G1) to another switch in a different building. If the top switch has 1 free uplink port and the lower 2 switch free uplink ports. Recently, we bought 2 servers Poweredge R620 and I would like to connect them to the Gigabit ports. The 'normal' switch ports allow only 100 Mbit/s, so I plan to buy 2 modules SFP 1000Base-T (for copper) to connect to them.

Is this feasible? Can I use G2 on the top switch for SFP 1000Base-1 T? Is this allowed?

    Kind regards

    Erik

Yes, it's quite feasible. The connection will be configurable the same 100 Mbps ports. Here is a link to the part number for the 1000Base-T transceiver.

  • Effect on dark fiber - transceiver module option?

    Hi all

You want to order two WS-C3750X-24 t-S with modules of services C3KX-SM - 10 G in order to apply the effect between two data centers using dark fibre (fiber). Distance between data centers is about 17 Km.

Can I use the GLC-EX-SMD module on the two location?

    Thanks in advance,

Ah, I see - I thought you meant a fiber PAIR - not a single strand.

He's right - the GLC-EX-SMD requires a pair of single-mode duplex fiber. So if you have only a strand that will not work.

The BX type that allows you to use a single strand are compatible to reach the shorter (up to 10 km) application with the 3750-X. 40 km variants are NOT compatible with the X-3750.

  • Can I connect SFP GLC-LH-SMD connector lc single fiber on Cisco 897VA Module?

    Hi all

Please can I connect SFP GLC-LH-SMD connector lc single fiber on Cisco 897VA Module?

    Thanks in advance.

If you have only a single glass fiber then the GLC-LH-SMD = is NOT good

because it is for double connection to a pair of fiber.

You would like more information by your ISP, you will most likely need a GLC-BX-D (RX-TX/1310 nm, 1490 nm) or a GLC-BX-U(1310-nm TX/1490-nm RX)

    See below

1000Base-BX10-D and 1000BASE-BX10-U SFP for bidirectional single fiber Applications

SFP 1000BASE-BX-D and 1000BASE-BX-U, compatible with the IEEE 802.3Ah standard 1000BASE-BX10-D and 1000BASE-BX10-U, carried on in a single strand of SMF standard.

A 1000BASE-BX10-D device is always connected to a device of 1000BASE-BX10-U with one strand of SMF standard with functioning of the chain of transmission, up to 10 km.

The communication on a single strand of fiber is achieved by separating the wavelength of transmission of both devices, as shown in Figure 2: 1000BASE-BX10-D transmits a channel 1490 nm and receives a signal of 1310 nm, while 1000BASE-BX10-U transmits at 1310 nm wavelength and a signal of 1490 nm. As shown, the presence of a separator of multiplexing (WDM) length of wave-division integrated with SFP to split the 1310 nm, 1490 nm light railways.

Figure 4.      Two-way transmission of a single strand of SMF

GLC-BX-D and SFP GLC-BX-U supports also digital Optics (DOM) of the functions of surveillance in accordance with approval of the standard of the industry (MSA) multisource SFF-8472. This feature gives the end user the ability to analyze parameters in real time of the FPS, such as the optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current and transceiver supply voltage.

  • what maximum of support of fiber cable module C3KX-NM - 1 G

3560 x that uses with module C3KX-NM - 1 G, the question is: what is the maximum length of the fiber cable supported? Thank you

This isn't an easy question to answer.

First of all, he should know what kind of FPS uses the client: SH, LH, ZX, ER, etc..

Then, you must take into account the thickness of the cable: OM1, OM2, OM3 OM4.

Go HERE and look at Table 1.

  • HP envy 13 d045tu: module WLAN upgrade

I have 100 Mbps internet fiber to the home, and because this laptop is equipped with Broadcom BCM43142 802.11b/g/n Wireless Network Adapter, I usually get 40-50mbps, which is not allow me to fully use my internet speed because of the wifi n standard.

So I was wondering if this model (d045tu) can be upgraded to a WLAN wifi ac module. And if so, what model is compatible?

    Thank you!!

Yes, your laptop is very recent, so there is no problem with the white list of HP, which existed until about 3 years ago. You can install this alternative WiFi card:

    Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 ac 2 × 2 WiFi + Bluetooth Combo Adapter 793840-005 4.0

You could actually install any wireless card, straight form factor, but the Intel 7265ac HP replacement part is probably the best adapter wireless market in this format.

The part above has a different number of the Part of HP, but is the same device. Part number 793840-005 real is $ 60 per amazon.com and this one is $ 24.

  • Fiber WAN instead of X 1

I have a Sonic N3600 wall.  I have a transfer of the fiber of the ISP.  I have a plugged into the X 14 port SFP.  How can I make cela my WAN default gateway?  Can I configure the port to auto negotiate?

If you have any other interfaces WAN area then, this should be your default WAN gateway. If this isn't your interface box only WAN or that default object reflects not properly go to failover & LB then configure the default LB group and add the X 14 interface at the top of the list. This should indicate that the WAN default gateway.

As for your other question, once you have connected a compatible SFP in port there should be an option under Network > Interfaces configured X 14 then click on the advance tab and it should be set to default AutoDetect. If this isn't the case, then plug the fiber and once that a link status is identified the SonicWALL should make these available options based on those getting returned by the remote terminal.
