  • VMware-cmd persistent / not persistent does not work in vsphere / esx4?

    Hello

We have a problem with the definition of a State of non-persistent disk with a script - something that we used to be able to do with ESX 3.5

On ESX 3.5, this used to work:

    # vmware - cmd XPROUTER.vmx scsi0:0.mode independent-no persistent setconfig

On ESX 4.0, the statement runs as follows and does not return anything - that is:

    # vmware - cmd XPROUTER.vmx scsi0:0.mode independent-no persistent setconfig

    #

Neither does not change the .vmx or the State of SCSI0.0 in the GUI.

Also, if I try to edit the .vmx with text editor line.

    scsi0:0.mode = persistent "independent-no.

The change does not appear in the GUI configuration...

Looking at vmware-cmd reference V-sphere, it seems that the order to setconfig is gone?

What method can be used to assign a disk of the machine non-persistent / persistent command-line on ESX 4.0?

    Thanks in advance!

That's right, which was removed from vSphere, I think that it might have been some curiosities and items in the past with the command and perhaps removed all together. Technically, the vmware-cmd is an obsolete utility. You'll probably want to take a look at using vCLI or PowerCLI to reconfigure your VM to fire the drive persistent or not persistent.

You can take a look at the vSphere SDK for Perl, there are a variety of scripts that allow for the wide range of operations against your vCenter, the host and the VM (s): http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/viperltoolkit/viperl40/doc/vsperl_util_index.html. That would be of interest is vmreconfig.pl http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/viperltoolkit/viperl40/doc/vmreconfig.html , you will find that you will be able to update your disc mode.

  • VMware fusion 3 - adjustment to comments does not work with Windows Server 2008

I use 3 Fusion with existing image from Fusion 2.x on Windows Server 2008. After the upgrade to Fusiion 3 (I upgraded VMware tools (I've also tried their uninstall and reinstall) too) the guest operating system does not change the resolution when resizing the window. It does not change the resolution if/when I goes into full screen mode. I have an 'exclamation' mark in Device Manager and it says that "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) ». I tried with and without 3D acceleration enabled.

WS2008 is where I spend most of my time in fusion, I hope that this can be solved somehow (a config directive file or something perhaps?)?

    Thank you

    Miha.

He had a similar position and the problem is specific to the version of the virtual machine virtual material.

Can upgrade you your VM hardware version? (Fusion UI have probably an option present as 'version Upgrade VM HW'... cannot check now but 90% sure about that.)

    Thank you.

  • Customization of comments does not not on Windows 2003 SP2 64-bit

    Hello

I have a server ESX 3.5 with Center Virtual Server 2.5 aned Labmanager 3.0.1.

    Nadine

    You are missing something:

    C:\sysprep\i386\$OEM$

This file should be present in the directory SYSPREP on the Lab Manager, if not, then something is missing.  I believe that Lab Manager that creates during Setup, but you can do ths following

First of all, we need to make a folder path that looks like this

    sysprep\Win2k3_64\i386\$ OEM$

In the oem folder, make a txt file named:

    Cmdlines.txt

Open the file and just put this in it:

    \[Commands]

    'TAG_RUN_CUSTOMIZATION_EXE '.

This should replicate to have the correct file:

    C:\Program VMware Lab Manager\Tools\CustomizeGuest\Windows\Sysprep\Win2k3_64\i386\$OEM$\cmdlines.txt

(Note that your way this may differ on the Lab Manager server)

Once this is done, you will need to rebuild the sysprep packages before deploying again.

Note, you will need to each sysprep folder path too.

    Kind regards

  • Jabber comments does not work with Expressway 8.7.2

    Hello

the last Highway requires Diffie-Hellman keys at least 1024 bits in size.

Unfortunately comments Jabber always uses 768bits as the 'server Temp key' on tomcat. This is why you cannot use Jabber comments (any version; I tried 10.6.9 and 10.6.10) with Expressway 8.7.2.

I also checked the Tomcat settings and there is the appropriate setting in/opt/cisco/jabber/conf/mss-sip-stack-properties (which, I guess that's the relevant file):

    # 2048-bit support for the Diffie-Hellman key ephemeral
    jdk.tls.ephemeralDHKeySize = 2048

Unfortunately, this does not work, or at least the results are not as expected.

Try to connect with openssl (openssl s_client-connect : 5061) shows:

    -snip-

The server public key is 4096 bit

    -snip-

Expressway present "key too small dh" in the log file and the 'TLS negotiation failure' when checking the status of the area.

It works perfectly with Expressway 8.6.1 (have not tried far 8.7.1).

Log files / dumps / snapshots are available on request, but I think the problem is pretty clear and I hope that it will be easy to solve.

    Thank you and best regards

  • vRO 7 does not appear in vSphere Web Client

    Hello everyone,

I deployed a new vRO device 7 brilliant in my lab. I've added the vCenter for vRO config instance and registers the extension vRO. I can see in the CROWD that the vRO is registered. vRO uses the 'vSphere' authentication mode and the user of Web Client vSphere is a member of the Group Admin vRO (in my ad domain global group). But unfortunately the VRO will not appear on the Web client.

  • Why does not turn VMware Workstation in a less than authorized VMware Workstation OS prompt, if not supported?

    Hey

IM wondering why isn't VMware Workstation must be installed and running (with virtual machines) on a guest operating system in VMware Workstation... I understand if it is not supported (such as it is running a virtual machine on a virtual machine that could be run on another virtual machine... you get the point), but at least allow him...

When you try to turn on a virtual computer, we check the existence of the backdoor in a process that runs at CPL 3 and IOPL 0 VMware.  If we find the VMware backdoor, we refuse to let turn on the nested VM.  The vmx.allowNested configuration option to bypass this check.  However, if you have restricted the backdoor to the guest code that runs with IOPL > = CPL (using the option monitor_control.restrict_backdoor to the external virtual machine), then we can't find the door VMware backdoor, and we let you turn the nested in any case virtual machine.  Thus, if the external virtual machine is set up correctly, you don't need the vmx.allowNested option.

In future versions, we can also check to see if you are running under some other hypervisor that announces its presence through pieces of CPUID feature.  If so, we will refuse to turn on the nested VM.  In this case, you will need the vmx.allowNested option to circumvent these controls.

  • 'Question by default comments' does not apply to all the quiz presenter 7.0.7

I read a manual adobe note that:

"Note: . " If you change the default label, feedback from the issue of the messages also change for questions that have already been created '

And that's just for Presenter 7.0.

But when I change 'Default Labels' in presenter 7.0.7, only Question button labels apply to all quizzes during the message Question not. The effect will run only the tests that I create after a change of information in "default question Feedback." Perhaps this is mistake of presenter 7.0.7?

Please tell me if anyone has these experiences.

It was something that happened in 7.0.0 to 7.0.2 (I think). Then the product has been updated with day/fixed to keep the feedback boxes that they were after the slide has been created. It was then that you were able to customize the rear power, and not to lose the customization during the change of the default label (or anything else in the Quiz Manager also).

So you see only not the feedback change in 7.0.7, I think is the correct functionality.

No, it's a bug with the first comment on a new page. We have the seller to work on it. It takes longer than expected to fix, however.

  • Compaction VMDK from VMware 11 does not work

    Hello
I try VMware Workstation 11 before I used 10.04, so my host systems is 14.04 Ubuntu 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit, so I install the new Version of VMware 11 on both systems and after I used the days of view I like to compact a witch Guest OS was a 14.10 Ubuntu 64-bit I user sudo dd if = \u003d/dev/zero of / 0 bit bs = # 20971520 bs = 20 m
in the guest operating system free unused disk space, and then delete the file 0bits with sudo rm /0bits.
powerd off power the virtual computer and go to Options / hard drive and use the Compact function after 5 seconds, it said the disk was compacted successfully, but when I look on the size always has been and will be 65GB so it does nothing!

So I check a cuople of things to ensure that it is not not the file system itself (I mean the real hard disk bad sectors) but that's all is ok no case found and something else works very well.
So I uninstall the 11 VMware and reinstall the Version 10.04 and compaction again this VMDK and after do with Vmware 10.04 size is only 3.6 GB so in my Point I think theres a problem with VMware 11.

Can we reproduce here or got the same problems?

Furthermore, I also try to compact the disk on the host Windows 7 with VMware 11 and 10 and this is the same problem vmware 11 dose does not but vmware 10 compact very well.

Here are some data on the system I'm working on:

(I also try to reduce the VMDK on an Ext4 Partition and it doesn't!) Only with the VMware Version 10.04 it Compact always the VMDK)

So in this case can you help me or tell me what im doing wrong?

    I had the same problem.

My VMDK is also more and more everyday and can't be shrunk in VMware 11.

    I found a temporal solution.

Executes command (my guest OS is ubuntu 14.04) below

    # "0" in all unused area filling

    Cat/dev/zero > filling

    Sync

    filling of RM

    # run vmware operating system tool, invited

    # in my case, it must be installed in/usr/bin /.

    # I have set location in my root "/", any region will be shrunk as much

    sudo disc vmware-toolbox-cmd shrinkonly /.

    He worked at my side.

You can try this way temporally.

    Good luck

  • Blackberry Simulator does not

My Stimulator works does not in vmware player...

    It's my system configuration:

    win xp proff 2002

    Intel (r) Pentium (r) D CPU 2.80 GHZ.

    1 GB of RAM

I think that your PC is too slow for Simulator. Must virtualiztion of material (or at least graphics acceleration) and up to 2 GB of RAM. Without this Simulator is unusable.

  • SRM 5.1 does not detect the existing unit of vSphere 5.1 independent replication

Installation guide 5.1 SRM said that RS can operate the vSphere replication stand-alone version:

" If you installed the stand-alone version of vSphere replication 5.1 then installRS 5.1, all existing twinning and replicas are immediately accessible thanks to the SRM user interface"

    http://pubs.VMware.com/SRM-51/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.VMware.SRM.install_config.doc%2FGUID-E8859207-0D9D-414e-8A2A-CEAC0FCA76A3.html

However, MRS. 5.1 does not detect it.  When I go to the page of replication vSphere in SRM, it seems that if no VR device has been deployed, as if she still wants deploy me them to SRM.

How do you get SRM 5.1 to detect the existing VR device and all of its repetitions?  Thank you.

    Hi Mike,.

SRM 5.1 requires a separate VRMS and VRS. If you deploy VR 5.1 5.1 SRM and do not use an existing independent RV unit, you always deploy a single device (which contains a VRMS and a VRS) which is ready to use without any additional configuration. MRS allows you to deploy one or more additional VRS for load balancing purposes, but it is completely optional.

So, normally, it shouldn't matter if you have installed VR 5.1 as stand-alone unit or if you have installed since SRM 5.1. For all purposes, that's exactly the same device. Have you tried you are looking for RV in vSphere Web Client rather than in MRS. interface? If vSphere replication does not appear in the Web Client, then it could be that the VR device is is not registered with vCenter Server or RV service does not, which could be due to a network problem.

If RV is displayed in the Web Client vSphere then VR runs correctly and the problem is indeed with the connection with MRS.

    Thank you
