Comments on AP541N network

Hello everyone.  I am trying to configure a wireless network of comments that isolates comments from the internal network and the internet access network and have been so far unsuccessful here, I will describe my setup below.

The AP has two Setup wireless networks in this regard, one is the primary network, using the vlan 1 and wpa (which works without any problems), the second is what is supposed to be comments, and using its wifi vlan 5 and no security (on this one I just changed the name of the cisco-scan network)

On the switch (SG-200-50), the AP is on port 8, that is configured as a member of the vlan 5 (marked, unmarked on vlan 1) and 24 port (marked on the vlan 5 marked in the vlan 1) turns to port two on a cisco ASA 5505, port 2 is configured on an interface called DMZ, this interface uses the security level 50 and also uses the vlan 5 for its ports.  on this interface, due to licensing restrictions rather stupid, I can't configure the interface as a trunk, nor can I create another interface and use that one as a trunk, so I'm stuck with the help of the DMZ interface.  I also install a DHCP server to use a different subent internal network flat on the addresses.

Problem is that whenever I connect to the network comments I can't ping the address assigned to the DMZ interface, no matter what I do, or it will give addresses.  If I hang directly to the port on the router with my laptop it works fine, internet access is in place, no access to the internal network and dhcp works perfectly, but if I try to access it through the switch then it does not work.

If I can provide more information please let me know and thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Hello

From my understanding, the problem is with ASA connection with switch. An access on ASA port is connected to the trunk on the switch port. If the marked packets from VLAN 5 will be abandoned about penetration ASA. Here is my suggestion to my laboratory. Connect the ports of two ASA access to ports two access switch with access virtual LANs (VLAN not signposted) matching. Connect to a trunk port on switch with (1UT, 5T) AP541N with two SSIDS. This configuration has worked for me.

Please evaluate the useful ports, while others may find quick answers.

Basically, the 'Comments Networking' function only works with Apple mobile networks. You cannot extend this network with a non-Apple as your TPLink device.

In your case, you would need another time Capsule or AirPort Extreme to extend the network of comments.

  • Comments on EA4500 network

I just installed my EA4500 router and it is deceptively simple. My only question is it shows two available wireless connections: that guaranteed I've implemented and another network of the same name that says 'comments' and is NOT secure. Is there a way to disable either the network unsecured comments or to secure the network of comments? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Thank you! I'll give it a try.

  • E4200 comments via LAN network

I have wireless comments upward and running very well. But I have to also connect to the network to search for the router via one of the ethernet ports. Can I simply specify the LAN-conencted PC a static IP address of 192.168.3.x for access to the network of comments? I guess that there is no feature VLAN...

And better yet, can I set up a DHCP relationship to this port? So that any device plugged into the port will get an IP address on that subnet? (I doubt that... but thought I would ask.)

    Thank you.

Update: peripheral connected LAN will indeed not network access to comments 3.x. best way to do it if you want a segment of network private/comments on your LAN that sharing your internet connection is to 3 routers in a configuration of Y.

    Like this:

    Internet <->RouterA WAN

    RouterA LAN<->WAN-RouterB

    RouterA LAN WAN-RouterC<->

I was able to configure DHCP for all routers. RouterA 192.168.1.0, RouterB 192.168.0.0, RouterC 192.168.2.0. (3.0 is used by the network without comment thread).

Which is nice in this regard, is that you can put all your public stuff (files, printers, internet connection sharing) on RouterA. B and C are behind their firewall for traffic in them is limited to your firewall rules. Nice, put in place. Funny way to do so, but since these aren't quality professional firewalls and routers, it works very well.

  • Comments on E3000 network / password problem

    Hello

I have the E3000, I want to use the comments for a wireless network.  The use of Cisco Connect Add a password to the Guest network. The guest network appears then as open or not secured on laptop and phone.  I renamed my network and changed the master password and nothing seems to help, comments always appears as not secure or open. I tried Cisco cat and they were no help.

Any ideas on how I can get the password works on the network of comments?

    Operating system Windows Vista SP2

    Using Cisco Connect
    Firmware: 1.0.04)is build 6

    Thanks for your help.

    Jay

Assuming that access as a guest E3000 works like that of the E4200 then this is normal.
The network appears as "unsafe", but to actually browse the web (or access other resources that can be activated for the guest network) the user must enter the password for the network invited in their web browser.

    Hello

I have problems performing Global VPN client to work when you connect to our internal network of comments in order to reach our internal LAN Server in order to reach internal resources in a safe manner. I'm not sure what could the settings were necessary in the Sonicwall to achieve?

Our installation is based on the NSA 3600 and I installed a WLAN area in the sonicwall to enable clients to connect to the internet. Traffic in the WLAN area to our internal LAN Server is denied. However, some users would like to be able to use the wireless network in order to achieve internal resources and for that I want to use the Global VPN client. It is even possible to use of an internal network from the point of view Sonicwalls Global VPN client?

The use of the outside Global VPN client works very well

  • Problem comments RV110W wireless network access

    Hi all!

I am facing a problem that was not represent earlier, and I can't solve this...

We have a small business running an apartment as a business next door. To provide access for guests - separated from the SME network, that we have created a wireless network of comments on our CISCO RV110W router which worked well for months. But for more 2 weeks now on the network of comments simply do not accept the password set in the router management console - I tried to change it, but without any proogress, also restarted the router several times - no effect...

Anyone have a suggestion, what happens?

    Details:

Updated firmware to update to the most recent available on CISCO's Web site. (1.2.0.10)

I don't know what to do, but hit my head against the wall...

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Pal, another thought perhaps to factory default from the router then see how it behaves. I see no reason why it work for so long, and then stops working unless perhaps something is damaged in the software.

Were there any configuration changes from when it works and now does not work? Add or remove of anything?

You can try to factory reset the router and see if it works then?

    Hello

I have a problem. I have a 4400 WLC and the meeting I m problem is that when an authetnicates of user to the private network, then tryies to autheticate the guest network, it just stays there, it does nothing. All around, if authenticate you with the network of comments and change the private network, it just sits there. I have showing that the problem is with the authentication, but do not know if I m correct.

Can someone help me? What ifnormation will take to recover from the WLC see there the rub?

I'll get the debug mac addr and repeat the question to see if I get anything for the customer.

I would check if his blocking on obtaining IP address or authentication. Probably try to manually set the IP address if you switch between networks and see if works.

  • No driver in the comments of Vista network adapter

    Hello

New to VMWare Player. I've used this other brand for a while but the VMWare converter struck me as something that I could use to help older Windows 8.1 Migration (mainly because the 8.1, it is very difficult to get data etc. off Vista machines on the new machine).

My first client to try that got a Compaq laptop with a dead motherboard and replaced by a new Acer instead of paying repair the Board.

I placed his HARD drive in an HP computer to run the converter, and a few hours later had a VM work. I copied that into his new machine and installed VMPlayer (6.0.3) and headed for the virtual machine.

Everything works fine except that I can't get the network to work - are not load drivers.

Of course, I installed the VMWare Tools in the virtual machine. And uninstalled. And reinstalled. And repaired.

Vista sees the network cards, but cannot get the drivers for them. All other drivers are gone but not the most appropriate.

Files between the host and the guest shared works better than I can say - some read only those and a read/write.

I tried disabling AV and firewall and do a clean boot (IE no 3rd party programs or services, except those of VMWare) and such other tricks with no luck. Have you tried 'update' with a Wifi USB mounted on the machine, tried to install via lan, tried to setup tools VMware 'drive '. All have failed.

I tried with this for a few days. I wish I could use VMWare as the converter allows to transform their old computer in a virtual machine that is very easy, but if the network does not work then I'll be forced to use something else.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Fine thanks

    David

Add the following options in the .vmx config file. (Not the .vmxf file attached you!)

    ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000".

    Ethernet1.virtualDev = "e1000".

Do it with the stop the virtual machine, do not suspended and closed VMware Player.

  • Comments of print with extreme network and printer HP Envy 4520

Project night and I have people coming. My comments and personal networks are set up. I have an extreme Airpot and a range of printers HP 4520. Is there a way that my guests and I can print from here. Other then to move networks back on my printer? I tell myself that I'm asking here before I ask HP. I seem to get better answers here. Thanks for any idea!

Users connected to the network 'Guest' cannot 'see' all devices in the 'hand' or 'private '.  Only "see you" each other and connect to the Internet.

Same thing for users on the hand, or a private network.

If you want a user on the network to be able to print, then you will need to install a printer wireless network reviews.

If users on the main network and the guest network printing, then you need a printer for each network.

A Dingo workaround solution would be to ask him to send you an email with an attachment that you can print and give back their.

  • I am not able to connect to the main wifi network but can connect to the network of comments.

    Hello

This is something new, I am facing to where I am not able to connect to a main network of airport extreme, but can connect to the network of comments. Guest network works perfectly fine while the main network does not connect to devices in the home. I also found that none of my base stations are visible in the airport utility (I Airpot extreme and Airport Express on the same network). Help, please.

The first step in troubleshooting with this type of problem is to perform a complete network power cycle on your network. If you decide to do...

Power off all the devices on your network... modem, routers, computers, printers, etc... in any order you want.

    Wait a minute

Turn on the modem first and leave a few minutes, he managed by itself

Turn on the next device that is connected to a modem and leaves turn a good minute

Keep turn on devices one by one at a time, one minute apart, until the entire network is back

Recheck the network and report on your results

There is a section in the file boot.sh you can change to get a binding to a specific network adapter

Shutdown all your VMS and narrow VMware Fusion

Open a Terminal window by going to Applications-> utilities-> Terminal

type the following command and press enter

    sudo library/Application\ Support / VMware\ Fusion / boot.sh - stop

type the following command and press enter

    sudo pico library/Application\ Support / VMware\ Fusion / boot.sh

find the section that looks like this

    1. Bridge interface network host 'en0 '.

    #"" $LIBDIR/vmnet-bridge ' d /var/run/vmnet-bridge-vmnet0.pid vmnet0 en0 "

    1. Bridge of the main host network interface (which may change over time).

    "$LIBDIR / vmnet - bridge ' d /var/run/vmnet-bridge-vmnet0.pid vmnet0"

    remove the # line 2

Place a # at the beginning of line 4

  • How to segment a network home security?

My home network consists of an Airport Extreme and two base station Airport Express, run by my Mini OS X Server. I want to my network of the segment so that devices of questionable security (IP webcams, nest thermostat etc.) are separated from my primary devices (computers desktop computers laptops/iOS). I currently use my comments for wireless network, but I want to keep away them from this network as well. I'm curious to know what others have done and what might people for suggestions. I would stay with my Airport gear and maybe just add rather than replace. He's been solid as a rock for me... i realize account it has limits, however.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

To actually segment a network or a business, you want hardware network that takes care of VLAN. Although the function 'Comments Networking' of Apple routers is a form of implementation VLAN, it is very simple.

That being said, if you are serious about this type of network security, you need to change (at least, your 'main' router) to a non-Apple solution that supports the implementation of VLAN.

  • Connect to multiple networks

Greetings. I have a HP 8600 all-in-one. Recently, I replaced an old router with a new router Linksys AC1900. This router is dual-band with 2 ghz and 5 ghz networks as well as a network of customers. All rooms have unique SSID. Is it possible to connect the 8600 to be seen and used by all 3 networks without having to manually change networks? I have the additional option to connect the 8600 in a USB port on the router itself if it would help. Appreciate any thoughts.

    Hi @GQuack

The 2.4 and the 5.0 are the broadcast frequency of the network, they would all have the same SSID (network name). The guest network has a different SSID and is indeed without wire. The problem is, you can't have a connected Ethernet and use wireless, so you can not connect the printer to the guest network.

I put my thinking cap and may have developed a possible work around! Where there is a will there is a way!

Instead of getting a second printer, although the wireless radio is turned off when the Ethernet connection is connected, you can use the direct wireless printers for those who use your network of comments. It's not exactly ideal, but it works. Basically, the printer has its own network, and anyone can connect to it. You can set it up to make it a secure network and give the password, or you can make an unsecured network.

How it would work: those located on the network of comments should be disconnect from the network comments and attached network printers when they want to print something. Yes, not ideal, but it's the only thing I could come up with the connection of a USB cable whenever they want to print, or purchasing a second printer.

  • 4 x WAP4410N VLAN for guest network

    Hi there everyone,

You want to have a problem of my resolved.  I am running 4 x WAP4410N access points configured with one corporate ssid with WPA2 Enterprise authentication that points to a server in network access protection.  What I'm trying to do is to add a second ssid to all my points of access for guests only and cannot connect to the departmental resources/devices.  I think I have to VLAN so that it works correctly.

Four access points in various parts of the building are connected and are wired in different switches SG300.  A port on a SG300-52 in my server room is plugged into a port on my firewall that I would use for DHCP.

What should I do to get this working correctly?  At the time of my comments to test network is not even give an IP address to the devices, which I think is related to the VLAN.

I do not know what ports I leave the identified tag-no, how to configure the VLANs on multiple switches, etc.  Any help would be appreciated.  It was suggested to me that I could use dedicated to guest access separate access points, but I like to keep the amount of access points down to the minimum required.

I think you may have found the problem. I apologize I have not asked if you were on layer 2. I would have thought it.

If they all Layer 3, maybe you could just add a few routes? Switching is not my field stronger.

Personally as needed I just don't sleep 2 and use VLANs
