Compatibility with Intel Core I7

Hi all.

I am building a machine that will run Vista 64-bit with memory 12 gig and then what I'll do, if the development or personal will run on virtual machines on external drives. The specifications of my local computer store gives me for equipment includes the following:

  • Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256 KB of memory Cache L2 8 MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor

  • Mushkin 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) 240 - Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

  • MSI X 58 Platinum LGA 1366 Intel X 58 ATX Intel Motherboard

  • XFX PVT94GYALG GeForce 9400 GT 512 MB GDDR2 of 128-bit PCI Express 2.0 x 16 HDCP ready low profile ready card video

I don't see this indicated on the compatibility tables for VMWare Workstation 6.5 and before I got actually to buy the material I want to know if anyone uses the I7 with VMWare Workstation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Guy Davis

The Core i7 processor is fully supported under Workstation 6.5.  Workstation 6.5 allows even use the new EPT of Intel technology for better performance of the virtual machine.

    I don't know about other issues. There are always 'problems' with any upgrade. You weigh against the benefits. I know that you need more RAM. At least 4 GB, maybe more if you can. Don't forget that this system is produced at a time when most of the machines have + 8 GB RAM and when Apple said 'minimum' they really mean it.  I recently inherited a MacBook that has 2 GB of RAM and the Mavericks. When I checked the memory, the use of the system was using 1.95 GB = nothing to run applications!

  • Can I place a Dell OptiPlex 755 with Intel Core 2 Duo in Windows 8 Pro to Windows Pro 8.1?

    Can I place a Dell OptiPlex 755 with Intel Core 2 Duo in Windows 8 Pro to Windows Pro 8.1? I tried several times. I wonder if my computer does not meet the requirements for upgrade. How can I?

    Hello Andrew,.

    Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft community Forums.

    According to the description, you want to upgrade to windows 8 for windows 8.1 on your system.

    As you already use windows 8 on your system, you can try to upgrade to windows 8.1. However, there are some system requirements that are needed to run windows 8.1 correctly on your system. Please see the link below for the topic of system requirements.

    Reference:

    The system configuration required

    Outside the system requirements, you will also need the windows 8.1-compatible drivers. There is a possibility that some devices may not work if the compatible drivers for windows 8.1 are not installed on your system. Driver are manufactured by the manufacturer of the system. It seems that Dell has not made drivers for windows 8.1.

    Refer to the link checking the available drivers for your system.

  • Is there a CS2 for an iMac with Intel core duo processor, 2006?

    I have an imac of 2006 with Intel core duo running on OS 10.6.8 (snow leopard) and I can not install any later operating system on my computer.  Is there a version of Photoshop, I can install it on my computer?  I can buy an unopened, full retail install version CS2, but the specs say that it is only good on a Mac to be able to.  I find no indication than ever, there is a version of Intel - what are my options?

    .. before someone suggests I buy a new computer, I'll put it simply: Yes, I know that my computer is a dinosaur. I can't buy a new computer for the moment.

    Thank you!

    I can buy an unopened, full retail install version CS2, but the specs say that it is only good on a Mac to be able to.  I find no indication than ever, there is a version of Intel - what are my options?

    There is no Intel of CS2 version. It's only PowerPC.

    That said, OS X 10.6.8 can run PowerPC applications but only if Rosetta is installed. Rosetta is not installed by default on Snow Leopard.

    That said, you are only entitled to use the CS2 without activation link above if you already have a CS2 (or earlier version) license.

  • 2560p HP: HP 2560p with Intel Core i5 - 3320M processor upgrade

    I wanted to update my HP 2560p with an Intel Celeron B840 to a processor Intel Core i5 - 3320M. According to Intel, the socket is the same: FCPGA988.

    Updated the BIOS to F62, but when I place the new cell processor tries to start and stops immediately. Then the laptop automatically tries to start a second time and stops again.

    I bought the i5 - 3320M opportunity, so there is the possibility, I bought a broken.

    Is it possible to upgrade the 2560p with an i5 - 3320M? Is it compatible? Was I forgetting something? Or is just broken CPU?

    Not even in theory. You must also consider the motherboard chipset, in your case QM67 Express. It only takes the generation processors 2d and a few eccentric 3rd people but not the i5 - 3320M.

    The Forum is still available for this kind of inquiry before purchasing parts and break the set of screwdrivers.

    Anyone recommend Intel Extreme Tuning Utility on a laptop?

    The visuals Bios Intel would work on this laptop?

    Please answer. Thank you.

    @TapsofOsiris

    The BIOS does not overclocking and design of the product is not tested for changes such as change of voltage or clock speed.

    If the laptop is damaged by, it would not be guaranteed by ch. DO so at YOUR OWN RISK.

    That being said issues like this may not be the best answered by volunteers from HP on this thread. To help you get a better answer, I would say looking at the Forums of Notebook Review.

    Sorry, I couldn't give you the answer you are looking for but hope this information give you more perspective on the dangers to do something like that.

  • How to use Palmsnyc with Intel Core 2 Duo?

    Unsupported systems

    Please note that we provide no support for the use of our software or the synchronization of our devices with:

    64-bit, server Edition or editions of Windows Tablet PC Editions.
    Computers Dual - or multiple CPUs
    Note: This is not the same as a processor dual - or multi - core, which is compatible with Palm Desktop.

    It makes me upset. I can't synchronize my palm with my laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo CPU).

    What can I do?

    If you have installed the software and have not yet synchronized your device and no data was exchanged then I recommend to delete the software on your computer and try again.

    Here are the steps, note that uninstalling differs from a regular uninstall - try the best you can, if you're having a party that your not sure then ignore steps.

    Here are the instructions for XP to uninstall "own."

    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    is happening. You can find your data files by going to C:\Program Files\Palm or
    A Palm. Highlight your Palm Desktop user name and right click and copy.
    Then, go to the desktop of your PC, right-click on a blank spot block and select.

    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove anything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop on your computer. As the folder above, remove the Palm folder. Once this is done, you need to delete some registry keys
    your registry PC operating system.

    Word of warning, go here and removing the wrong thing can cause your PC
    No start, crashing and deleting programs and data. If you feel
    you're not sure of yourself, see if you have a friend who can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them all
    Should be deleted. To keep your current registry settings, we have a backup of the registry.

    On the PC, go to start and run Type "regedit" without the quotes

    Select WORKSTATION, browse to the file--> export. Should appear with a save as
    box. Current place of residence is very well should be in My Documents, or you can change in a location that you will remember. In the file name box, type "Regbackup [todaysdate]" i.e. Regbackup07072008. Then, the most difficult part.

    The best way to ensure that your work with the right key, select the key that is installation quick palm and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are
    make sure you. Say Yes. Do the same for all the keys below.

    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.

    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of the theses reg keys won't be here)
    But if they remove them)

    * Installation quick HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm
    * Transfer of files Robotics\PalmOne HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S.
    * Robotics\Pilot Office of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm

    Then restart your computer

    Then, reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If she asks
    for a user name and you synchronized your device before you put "test" If you "
    no sync before creating a hotsync name.

  • Compatibility with intel 310 X61s mSata

    I read that the X61s is perhaps not compatible with the 310 mSATA from Intel, but were unable to determine whether it is "fixable" with an update of the Bios. I want very much to get an mSATA if it is compatible with this great machine.

    It is not compatible, this compatibility requires the appropriate hardware configuration and not BIOS firmware.

    The first machine to support mSATA is X 220.

  • Portege R500 - compatibility with Intel SSD 320 160 GB

    I installed an Intel 320 160 GB SSD in my Portege R500 (PPR50E).
    However, the BIOS does not detect the new drive. I updated the BIOS to the 1.60WIN version, the most recent that I found, but the drive is still not detected.

    Is there a possible solution? Or I need to take the drive?
    Thanks for any help

    It must be a problem of compatibility so I don't think you can force Portege to recognize this SSD.
    I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about m.

After my password, it showed the circle of activity moving, but then after a minute or two, he went to a black screen with the exception of my mouse cursor.
