Hello Muggsy68,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Sorry, you have a problem with that?  If you are using Microsoft Windows XP, please see the link below, also I added a step to try to correct.

http://www.Microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/reader.mspx?DG=Microsoft.public.WindowsXP.General

Have you tried to connect to your computer in Mode safe?  If you can I would try to perform a restore of the system to a point in time before that happens.

  • Computer does not start, all I get is a black screen

I use family Vista premium and everything worked right up until the other day. My computer froze and I stopped it to restart. After the reboot, it gave me the ability to start windows normally or in safe mode. I selected at startup of windows. After that, I got was a black screen. The computer is still running, I can hear the fans and the ligts are on.

I have been looking for a solution to this problem and would really like to fix it myself. I tried all the options menu-f, but all I get is the black screen. Vista came pre installed on my computer, so I don't have the cd/dvd of Vista.

Please help me if you can.

    Hello

May I ask what computer do you have?
Why you n t post this important information?

You can start in safe mode? Maybe a driver or a virus has something confused upward in the Windows registry and the computer can start t more correctly.

In the worst case, you must reinstall Windows using Toshiba recovery disc. :(

  • My computer cannot fully start with recent Windows 7 update (details inside)

Shortly after starting my computer brand new for the first time, an update of Windows was necessary for my computer.

There was a large number of items to be updated on my computer, making a total of about 350 MB to download, more than 150 additional MB for optional upgrades such as my graphics Nvidia GTX 260 update and something else driver.

After downloading this and asked to restart my computer, I restarted. And then, when I started, instead of display the login screen, it was written (I have a version in French of Windows 7 Home Premium) "configuration of the preparation of Windows" feel, in a direct translation, that the computer is «preparing the Windows configuration» I thought that this generally follow the update to a Windows 7 computer, and so I waited...

    And waited...

    And waited...

After one and a half hours, I thought that my computer froze or simply ignored the task to "prepare the Windows configuration" and had done nothing. So, I manually closed and restarted the computer.

And the same screen popped up again. I waited an hour until I've restarted once more. And, after half an hour, I finally turned off my system.

If there is any useful information, about 36 updates important which comprised a total of 150 MB for a total of about 350 MB, more the two additional updates being a graphics card update driver and something else, which were both there. Download of the updates went surprisingly fast - in 7 minutes about, half-gigabyte update was finished, although there were three errors of update, more as Office 2007 and plugins support, which I didn't. I went ahead and rebooted.

Is it normal to wait so long for a computer to boot after you download an update? and a half hours? More another time and yet another half hour? 3 hours?

Thanks to anyone who can answer/help me with this! I just got this computer!

Never mind! I finally managed to cancel the update and to redownload and reinstall them successfully!

  • Computer won't start and the screen is weird looking

After the maid left today, I noticed my computer screen on my DELL PC running Windows XP HOME Edition (service pack 2 or 3 - I don't know) seemed strange. The pixels have been weird in several areas of the screen and the cursor froze.  I tried to turn off the computer, but it will turn off, then I disconnected and finally had to hold the power switch on the CPU for a few seconds to turn it off.  When I tried to turn it back on again, it showed Windows startup to the top of page - but the screen still seemed weird - kind of out of touch.  The computer does not start.  It's just a black screen with a cursor in the middle of the screen is frozen and the mouse does not move.  I tried to push the F-8 when starting Windows screen came. He took me to a different boot options menu, but always with the print-screen out of phase. I tried a few startup options, but it just brought me back to the Windows boot screen with the logo being shifted - sort of split and strange looking.  Is it possible that my maid has done something to the computer, wiping down? Is it possible to fix this? It's never happened before. Can someone PLEASE?  Thank you

    Hi Goldie309,

I suggest that you reset the default monitor settings using the buttons available on the computer screen and check if that helps.

You can also connect another monitor to the computer to check if the monitor is defective.

  • Computer will not start normally, in safe mode or from the recovery disk - stays on the Green loading bar of microsoft

I got to my computer today and there was a blue screen with white writing about him say a word on the internal discharge. Then later in the day, the computer froze, after a while the screen went black with just the cursor on the screen. I restarted the computer and now it just does not start. In normal mode it gets as far as the loading screen Windows with the movement of green bar but stays on it indefinitely. If I try to start in safe mode it gets as much as crcdisk.sys and then crashes, and if I try to boot from the Vista recovery disc, it also only gets the windows loading green bar and stay on it. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • My computer froze including keyboard.

I downloaded software that works for a different language for an (additional) external key board. When it asked me to reboot I did but my computer froze after and none of the buttons respond. I was able to open the computer and the connection but after that, I'm stuck. I couldn't uninstall or restore. Computer Windows XP and Dell.

    Hello

    1. what happens if you unplug the external keyboard and then try to boot to the desktop?

    2. you receive an error message when you try to start the computer with the keyboard connected?

    3. using an external wireless or wired keyboard?

    4. what operating system is installed on the computer?

I suggest that you remove the external keyboard and then try to boot to the desktop.

  • Computer does not start after the screen of the bios, Compaq Presario SR1023WM

Ok. Trying to fix a friend's computer and seem to have met a strange barrier.

Problem: The computer does not start after the bios screen.

Details: When you turn on the computer, the compaq logo with intel inside is and has the < F1 Setup > and < F10 System Recovery > options listed as well.  And that's it as far as the computer becomes.  After that the computer just locked up, no work of buttons on the keyboard lights keyboard ect ect.  I tried the puree on the F1 key, as soon as I turn on the computer and I can handle so he can say * entering setup * but it freezes again after this point.  I already tried to eliminate the possible sources of the problem, removed all expansion cards, HDD and Dvd Rom module only disconnected, only memory (256 MB ddr 2700), power, vga and keyboard connected.  Ive also used the jumper on the motherboard to clear the cmos, hoping that would solve the problem without success.  I tried using a different memory stick and different memory as well...  Tried to use both a ps2 and a usb keyboard... Ive even tried pulling the rider for the protection of the bios password (even if she did not have a password on it, just try everything I can think of).

The installed bios version is 3.1, and that's all that I know on the computer at this point, except that the website tells me to him.

I'm basically at a loss on this one, so if someone feels scroll line-by-line of their brains on this one, I'd be very happy.

I have a pretty strong understanding of computer repair, so feel free to give me something to try.

  • Computer does not start

My computer does not start and it will not Mode without failure. I run the Memory Diagnostic test and it shows I have a hardware problem. I also tried to restore my computer to an earlier time, but it showed an error. I have 1 GB or RAM and recently she continues to change from 512 MB to 1 023 MB. Help, please.

    1 GB OF RAM
INTEL CORE 2 DUO 2.43 GHz (I'm not sure)

    OPERATING SYSTEM: WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE

It seems that the memory must be replaced.  While you're at it, maybe get over 1 GB.  Windows 7 will run on it, but not well.  If the PC came with Windows Ultimate edition, it was more than likely 4 GB or more.

  • Compaq 6200 PRO MT: Makes the computer does not start after upgrade CPU

I have the HP Compaq 6200 PRO PC of MT 615114-001 motherboard and processor Intel Celeron CPU (LGA 1155). After I changed the CPU for Intel Core i5 (LGA 1155) computer does not start. He begins a minute (less than one second) and stops again. No beeps. After you have installed the Celeron back everything works fine. i5 CPU is brand new. What can be?

In my previous post, I explained the reason it has not worked, and listed the CPU that will work.

HP tests CPU in the laboratory and publishes a list of processors that will work in a notebook.

Notebook motherboard BIOS has a list of processors that will work. If it is installed, which is not encoded as OK in the BIOS ROM file, then this will not work.

Processors published (in the maintenance guide & Service for your nttebook series model) are available in models that can be deilvered in State CTO (configured to order).
