computer no longer recognizes it has 1394 ports

Hoping someone can help.  I am trying to transfer videos from video camera on my computer, just as I did many times in the past, but for some reason any my a6300f HP Pavillion with Vista SP 2 does not recognize the fact that I have one of my two 1394/Firewire ports.  I've used them in the past to connect this camera, but today, when I plug my camera into the computer does not recognize that it is plugged.  I opened the Device Manager and I have more no Ports IEEE 1394 listed.  What should I do so that the computer will recognize once more that there no two 1394 ports?  And, what would have made "forget" it doesn't have the computer 1394 ports?  Any help is appreciated, of course, can't tell you how frustrated I am!

Michael

Hello

You have restarted to see if they will recognize?

There could be a hardware problem.

/ Settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 as you start then look at the screen - look to see if you have a
setting to enable Firewire 1394 ports.

In the Device Manager - click anywhere in the blank white box - Action - search the hardware changes.

Check with HP, their drivers support and documentation online and ask in the forums of HP.

Possibly updating the BIOS and chipset of low level drivers might help - if those who are available from HP.

    Hello

Sounds like his "stuck" in the current state. Try this: go to control panel, select Device Manager. When this window opens, navigate to the tab for your removable drive (try the category of portable devices), and when you find, right-click on the drive and select turn off first, confirm the deactivation, then right-click again and select uninstall, confirming again. When the device has been turned off and deleted, restart your computer with the drive connected to the USB port in what he normally resides. It recognizes the drive now?

Post your results here and let me know how you fare.

How to make the computer recognize cd/dvd players, while itunes is installed

    Hello

Too many competing products can stretch resources and cause problems. The power below

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

    Brent

    Hi Brent,

You can try to uninstall last updates window who installed or do a system restore to a point before the updates have been installed and then install updates one by one to see which update is causing the problem.

    Method 1:

You can read the following article to remove an update.

    Remove an update

    Method 2:

If you cannot uninstall the updates, then you can try to perform a restore of the system to a prior restore point you have been affected by the issue.

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To run the system restore, you can consult the following link:

    Method 3:
