Computers lose internet a

So, yesterday, the PC of my wife decided to stop working online, I could always go to Google and activley looking for things but not then open results without an error page.

While they were inspecting the connection the ipv6 connection was OK, but the ipv4 connection wasn't there. The diagnosis of network tool reset the wireless adapter and returned the error "2 wireless network connection is not a valid IP configuration.

I dropped yesterday and decided to use my PC today to deepen, to mine turning on exactly the same problem is now there, although it was working fine yesterday.

I checked the windows update log and that you can see at least 10 updates have been installed last night, trying to roll by using System Restore, I get the catastrophic error message.

Do know that if it is to be noted, but computers have had problems recently install updates to windows, the same updates would be installed over and over again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello

Please contact Microsoft Community.

According to your description, I understand that you are facing problems with your computers and can not connect to internet. In addition to this can not get a valid IP address also. The question might be if there is a corruption of parameters. If the system is connected to the router, but the computer has not been assigned a valid IP address, so you can not actually in the Internet.

  1. You have any other device works fine on the same network?
  2. You are using a wired or wireless connection to connect to the internet?

First of all, I suggest that power you cycle the Modem. Power cycle is a miraculous cure for many home network problems. Power Cycling is the process of stopping and turning on the networking of devices (Wireless Router / Modem).

If the problem persists, try the steps below and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

Method 1 :

Computer distance sometimes inappropriate or obstructions or interference with some home devices can cause the wireless connection to drop. Move your PC closer to the router or access point. If the PC is portable, try moving to determine the range of the wireless signal and the best place to use your PC.

If you can no longer close to the access point or router, consider buying and installing an external antenna for your wireless network card improve its reception. Check the documentation provided with your wireless network card to see if you can install an additional antenna.

Method 2:

If the problem persists, try of release and renew your computer's IP address:

  1. Go to Start, click all programs and open the Accessories.
  2. Right-click on command prompt in the list programs, and then select run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click OK.
  3. In the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
    enough ipconfig and press ENTER.
  4. Then type ipconfig / renew and press ENTER.
  5. Type Exit and press ENTER.

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

Kind regards

  • WRT160N LOSES INTERNET CONNECTIVITY

I have a wrt160n connected to a Motorola ATT DSL Modem.I only have intermittent internet connectivity. He worked awhile then lose internet connectivity on my XP computer plugged directly on the router, as well as on my laptop vista home wireless. I worked twice with the Linksys support and followed their suggestions of reconfiguration, but the problem persists. The modem ip address is 192.168.1.254. Linksys said to change the default address of the router to 10.10.1.1... I did, but it didn't fix it. Some of the messages on the forum said to change it to 192.168.2.1. I tried and still intermitttent only connectivity. I can bypass the router and go directly to xp destop and it runs rock solid, so the problem is somewhere in the settings of the router. I'm about to renounce it and sell it on ebay and buy an ATT modem/router combo. The Ant is my last resort. Another thing, I downloaded and installed the latest version of the firmware 2.0.02 11.

I'm under the router with DHCP. I use my own SSID with personal WPA2, AES encryption. Linksys support had me change the standard channel to 2,452 GHZ and disable any filtering of the internet. Now, I use an IP from 192.168.2.1.

I am courious to see if anyone has had this router to work on a DSL ATT modem. Also, anyone have any suggestions on where I go from here?

    Thank you

If you have version V2 of this router, you can downgrade the firmware.  See here:

    Brian,

This could be a setting in your profile (or power saving wireless mode) power setting?

I had problems where an update (from HP, not Windows) changed (my) default settings for power profiles.

Can you restore back a few days or a date prior to the problem? This would test if the a software update changed something...

  • How can I remove the "crumbs" of an uninstalled spyware that brought me to lose internet connectivity?

This problem is not specific to Vista. Last year, I bought a new laptop of Dell Studio with XP SP3 installed. Everything worked very well; but was my former spyware removal software is more of his work. I could tell my internet experience slowed but the program did not come with any spyware/malware to remove. So, I went back to a program that I used about 5 years that seems to work for us: Stopzilla. I could tell immediately something was wrong, because while the program seems to work fine while I was online, when I tried to use it to search for existing infections stagnant 1% fine and would never go any further.

I tried an uninstall. The function of "uninstall a program" Windows would not be set up Stopzilla for uninstall. Of course, I was in trouble. Used another 3rd part of the program of cleaning of registry problems, etc., but it also uninstalled programs. Apparently, not good enough. I then did a "search" for all the files/folder (hidden or not) that had attached to it Stopzilla and remove results. Still nothing.

As I've studied how to remedy this problem, I found many references to lose internet connectivity wireless due to the remains of these types of programs related to system functions.

I did all the basics: checked the connection itself, checked my network settings, check the configuration of the router, ping the ip address, renew the ip address, checked the DNS server address, etc, etc.  Even gone beyond that and used the ip address 'reinstall' difficulty and even tried track things directly through the registry. Nothing. Still unable to connect to the internet using ANY browser and can only use it locally.

I am about to take the computer to a PC clinic but really won't be without the phone for days because of a major project deadline.  Is there anything I can do to get my wireless connection working again?

    Thank you - gstrumberger

STOPzilla says on its site that its compatible with win98 through win 7, which could lead me to suspect its validity, and since you were unable to uninstall it, well...
I suppose you have a restore point for a period prior to installation?
And if not how comfortable you are with the registry change?

  • lose internet connection after some time

I connect to the internet through a router.  I'll be online for a while and then I will lose my internet connection. Resolve what I have to go to the task bar, click on the Internet icon (it is said that I am still connected, but I'm not), disconnect and reconnect.  From this point, I can pick up right where I left navigation.  I don't have to reopen a new browser.

How can I solve this in all the time so this doesn't continue to happen?  My ISP says that there is no problem at their end.

I connect to the internet through a router.

Then, how the router connect to the Internet?   For example if you use a modem with PPP dial-up there is a kind of effect of idle time-out.   Then, so check with your ISP all you must check with your router diagnostics to see if it is what is happening.   Your symptom is certainly independent of your browser, but can also be independent of your link (LAN) and OS (unknown).

  • Lose internet connect during sleep

Each computer or laptop I've owned kept his internet connection when it is entered in the mode 'sleep'.  When I woke up the computers I always had the internet always there.

When I bought my new Acer Veriton X4620G a year or two ago the first thing I noticed was that whenever I wake the computer from sleep mode after that I left it for a while, his internet connection would be gone.  This would force me to click on the internet icon in the taskbar to log in again.  This issue has continued to this day.

Can someone tell me how I can get my Acer Veriton to keep its connection to the internet when it starts in mode 'sleep'?  It's Aussie a nuisance having to click on the network icon and wait that he reconnect every time.  No cell phones my wife or my own laptop or any othe computer I've had that.

Why is - what happens with my Veriton?

    Thank you.

The only thing that works for me leaving my e-mail client and my browser open.  When I wake the computer from sleep mode after an absence of the connection is still there.

  • PC running XP will lose internet connection after inactivity

I leave my PC on 24 hours two days a week because of an automatic backup. C a day, drive D the next. Twice recently, I came home and found my connection Internet is down in itself. Any other apps turned at the time when that happened. Using the tool to disconnect, then reconnect it did not work. Restart caused the PC to hang during startup, just after that I see the screen that gives me an option on what kind of shoe I want and the blue screen is the background of the Windows login box. I get to the blue screen and that's it. Have to completely stop the PC and then the boot works as well as the automatic connection to the Internet. Here's what I found in the event viewer that wasn't a standard briefing note, but I do not know how to interpret the messages...

You have the latest Service Pack (SP3) installed on the computers?

Even if this error occurs the service DHCP should continue to try to obtain an IP address lease extension until he succeeds, but on your address machines automatic private IP kicks in and you get an APIPA address (evidenced by the address assigned/obtained in the 169.254.xxx.xxx range).  Disable AUTOMATIC private IP addressing and see if things improve.

  • Lose Internet connection after sleep/standby/hibernation Mode

I recently bought a new HP Pavilion Elite e9105z CTO Office and migrated from Win XP to Vista Home Premium x 64, with a NVIDIA nForce 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Controller.  Whenever I come off standby or standby mode, I lose my Internet connection and have to restart my system or run Windows Network Diagnostics to repair the network adapter settings.

I tried several remedies available on Internet; but unfortunately, nothing has resulted in a permanent solution.  I contacted my service provider ISP (Mediacom) wonder if it was / is a problem with the firmware used to my cable modem SBV5220 support (for example, incompatibility with Vista) and they said there is no.  So far, I have:

    1. Reinstalled NIC driver.
    2. Power options controlled and reset with USB CDC.
    3. Apply the update for Windows Vista (default gateway setting is lost) for x 64 systems (KB933872) - response that update does not apply to the system.
    4. Reset the IP configuration via the Cmd line.
    5. Tab power, unchecked the box that shuts down the adapter then power save comes into play.

Access the computer several times a day and having to reset Internet connections became extremely aggravating.  I hope there is a solution.  Thanks in advance for your help.

After several days of frustration, I went into the Manager of devices, unchecked ethernet optional adapter "allow the computer to turn off this device."
This seems to have cleared up the problem, at least until now...
