  My question is this - from what I can find on the web, ESX 3.5 U3 does not support the latest integration modules Backup Exec (pre and post backup scripts etc.). So based on this, using Backup Exec 12.5 with VCB Symantec agent is needed giving you the GUI (no longer need to customize scripts for VM backups).

  Can someone please clarify this?

  The Agent gives you a GUI with VCB integration. You should always install VCB, just not the integration kit. You can always do it the "old school" way. The modules BE did never seem to work 100% anyway and you can the House push something pre and post if you do not want to pay for the agent.

  I think that VMware just stopped creating integration because the older kits kits are relatively stable. I tested with esx3.5u3/vc2.5u4 and have no problem. There is no update for VCB, so there is no update for the kits.

• Is there another solution to integrate NAC Appliance and Active Directory on Windows 2008 64 bit

  I'm trying to integrate a device of the NAC solution in a network where all domian servers and application servers are Windows 2008 64-bit.

  Could someone help me to confirm if Active Directory (AD) on Windows 2008 is not taken in charge and tell me what alternatives exist to authenticate users who consider that it is not possible to make any changes on the server. They will continue to be Windows 2008 64 bit.

  The original idea was to use AD SSO to authenticate users, but I read that it is not supported on Windows 2008 64 bit.

  I'd appreciate any help or suggestions.

  Arturo,

  You can use LDAP. Configure an LDAP authentication provider and have your customers to provide their credentials.

  It will not however a single code access scenario. They would have to enter their credentials again on the NAC agent.

  Support for 64 - bit is on its way and will be out in the new versions soon.

  Theoretically on the 64 bit OS, you can run 32-bit and 64-bit applications. It s downgrade compatible with 32-bit applications.

  But the fact is if pretty old Office 2000 runs on Windows 7. Maybe it works I put t know, but you can install it and send a comment here. It might be interesting for other users too! ;)

  HI: You are not alone. I had this happen on my W7 PC 2. Works well until a week or two ago. Now when you launch the program you get just the message that the program has stopped responding. I don't have a fix. I also tried the program updated without success. I've uninstalled it. You can run the Windows update program which will take care of most of any driver and other updates for your PC. If all goes well, people have reported this problem to HP that will be able to fix it. I wonder if it has to do with the upgrades of windows security or other updates that we received last month.

  I do not understand your question. If the laptop can run Windows Vista, it can probably run Windows 7 too.

  Uninstall the current version of LR, you have it installed, download LR 4.4.1 installer and install it. I don't know what causes your problem with the update, but that a full installer for 4.4.1 can operate without any problems.

  I'm quite puzzeled of Backup Exec 2010 r2 backup of Vsphere 4.1 VM with VM agent. In the image attached data store is thick accrued 1.14 TB LUN on the SAN that has 2 vm. The virtual machine is configured to thin configured as you can see the storage capacity and put in service has about 400 GB discrepancy, but it's only when backups are like BE2010 instant process.   The snapshot files will contain only the changes made to the virtual machine, while the backup is running.  When the backup starts, it takes a snapshot of the virtual machines, this snapshot blocks of virtual disk files 'main '.  New entries on the virtual disks will be written to the snapshot files, that is, they contain only the changes made to the virtual machine.  The backup task is then sure to read the 'core' virtual drives, knowing that they will not change and will be in the State of the virtual machine when the snapshot was taken.  Once the backup is complete, it will "remove" the snapshot, this 'merges' the changes in the files of 'snapshot' for 'main' virtual disk files

  If the 'snapshot' files will be as large as the amount of changes on the virtual disks while the snapshot is in place.  This has nothing to do with the amount of data backed up by Backup Exec as one reads in the virtual disk files 'main '.

  I guess that you expected the files 'snapshot' to increase the amount of data on the virtual disks and for Backup Exec read these files snashot.

  I hope that makes sense.

  Can anyone suggest what is the procedure of backup of a database 10g on windows using Backup exec 12.5? We use the flash recovery area and all the Archives of newspapers, flashback logs and backup games go? The system administrator wants to back up the complete directory of the flash recovery area. Would that be enough? Is that a backup of oracle home is necessary? Is there a required backup settings before saving files when the database is switched on, as put them in backup mode or etc.? All documentation discuss the safeguard measures, and what must be saved will be appreciated. Thank you.

  Fix. File system backups must not include data files, the controlfiles and redologs from the database.

• VCB with Windows 2000 Server before and after! Does not!

  In our configuration (esx3.5, vi2.5 and vcb 1.5) we have problems get the pre post scripts running in Windows 2000 Server. It does not at all pre/start scripts. We need this because we have some strange databases that must be stopped before the snapshot and started after.

  The 2000 machine is fully updated, and the esx servers are updated 4.

  I also tried in a test environment with esx3i fully updated (beyond update 4) and vcb1.1

  Pre-Post controls work perfectly in 2003 (not yet tested in 2008).

  What I tried:

  • Disable-ing the SyncDriver (must be a solution for Server 2000 with Exchange 2000)

  • Place scripts to a location different (C:\WINNT or C:\Windows or C:\Program VMware Tools\backupScripts.d

  • Adding C:\Program VMware Tools\backupScripts.d to the $PATH variable so that the script can be run from anywhere

  • Reinstall the VMWare tools.

  The command I used to get the backup:

  v h vcbMounter.exe *. n u .local \n*-ipaddr:vcbtest. .local - r c:\vcb\vcbtest-full-01 t m nbd fullvm

  I also tried adding the switch "0 q" or "q 1".

  No solutions seem to work. Does anyone have any ideas?
