Configuration of the DRS and CVS!

Hi all

I have 2 IBM (M4 Systemx3650 IBM, Intel® Xeon® CPU E5 - 2620 V2 2.10 GHz, 12 processors * 2,099 GHz) hosts.

one DELL number (PowerEdgeR730, Intel® Xeon® CPU E5 - 2630 V3 @ 2.40 GHz, 16 processors * 2,399 GHz) host with much more kit license vmWARE. configured in a single cluster and all ARMY 3 are under the same group.

Problem 1: attempt to activation of DRS, get error because I'm not allowed to activate DRS for license and DELL host must be updated to the same.

"Problem 2: attempt to activate CVSIntel® Ivy Bridge ' generation is not tenable for host DELL and Intel®"Haswell"generation is not tenable to accumulated both IBM hosts.

If someone could suggest an easy way to overcome it / what step should I take to solve it.

So now the problem is simple, since you do not have a problem of compatibility really :-) Since vCenter VM is started in one of the hosts, you must perform this procedure: VMware KB: VCA allowing on a cluster when vCenter Server is running in a virtual machine

The VCA level for the new cluster must be Ivy Bridge.

  • Change the PowerCLI Script to use the DRS and DRS storage

    Hello

I have a PowerCLI script that specifies a host and a data store to create a new virtual machine, which has served us well. Now we have activated the DRS and DRS storage and I wonder what to change in order to take advantage of these features. Are there commands to specify a cluster and the cluster data store and let the DRS to decide the initial investment for a new virtual machine? At the moment we put all hosts and the warehouses of data as variables and use them in the line below.

    Thank you.

    $newVM = New-VM-name $NewVMname - VM $TemplateName Datastore - $datastore - VMHost $vHost - confirm: $false - location $myName

    You set a Datastorecluster?

If Yes, then you can replace the value of parameter data with the datastorecluster object store.

Replacing a VMHost with a cluster is not taken in charge I'm afraid.

But you can use something like this

    New-VM-name TestVM Datastore - DSC - ResourcePool (Get-Cluster-name mycluster |) Get - Resourcepool - name of resources)

This will automatically select the VMHost.

The virtual machine appears in the root of the cluster.

DSC is the name of a datastorecluster in the cluster mycluster

  • Exclude the participant to the DRS and HA VM

    Hello

I am running a cluster 7 nodes with ESX 3.5 and Virtual Center 2.5, the HA and DRS (automated) are activated.

Is it possible to configure a specific VM to not participate in the DRS or HA migration?

    Thank you

    Steve

    Hey,.

If you change the settings for the cluster, you will be able to define the attributes of the HYALURONIC ACID DRS by VM.

  • Problem blackBerry Smartphones with the configuration of the internet and the mail (from France)

    Hey x)

I just got my Blackberry yesterday (I'm of the France) with Universal Mobile - Bouygues Telecome, package blocked for BlackBerry.

In this "package", I have SMS/mms, internet and unlimited emails.

But I can't go to the internet, its does not work and when I'm trying to configure the email option in "advanced option", I don't have any kind of confirmation message.

I tried the site but I got this error message:

    "Failed to create the account:

Please register for this device and make sure that the URL of the web site current corresponds to
one provided by your wireless service provider.
    To register:

    1. in the list of applications on your device, click on Options, or click Advanced Options.

    2. click on Advanced Options > host Routing Table.

    3. click on the Menu button, then click on register now.

If the error persists, contact your wireless service provider. »

And so, as I said, I've done this manipulation, but I don't have a confirmation when I put "host routing table.

And in the configuration of the e-mail, I have just the professional thing.

    Can you help me please?

    Hello

From what you describe, you will have to do exactly what it is say you - contact your service provider. Something is not right with your setup of BIS... and they control it.

    Good luck!

  • Configuration of the DRS

I have 2 gates with leaves of 4 HP running VMware vSphere 4.1 update 1 in each basket. 8 guests are in a cluster DRS with level "fully automated". Currently the DRS will move VMS between hosts of potentially exploitable resources. For most of my virtual machines, that is what I want. However, I have 3 VM who were queuing to not pass one grid to another. Can run on any of the 4 hosts in the basket, they should not move to 4 guests in another basket. How can I set DRS to attach a virtual computer to a host group?

You can create a rule for that DRS.  Here are the steps.

Change the settings for the DRS cluster and then:
    (1) on the DRS Group Manager screen to create a new host DRS group with the hosts running on the virtual machine and a new group of DRS VM containing virtual machines.
    (2) on the screen of rules create Virtual Machines a new rule host.  Select the VM group and the host and the option "must run on hosts in a group.

  • Configuration of the slots and targeters on cluster scenarios

    Hello!

I build aplications with standalone indicator through the runAssembler tool to run on a cluster. I have a problem with the scenarios, the slots and targeters. In the servers built with standalone indicator, these components do not work. The strategy updating active file is a shared virtual file system where single server updates the file system and all other servers must read, atg, epub, file, ConfigFileSystem tip to this virtual file system shared in all the autonomous production servers, but they can't get the components.

Example: ScenarioManager only lists my scripts even that they exist in the shared file system.

So here is my question, how to configure stand-alone servers to read a single file system common scenarios, the slots and targeters?

    Thanks in advance.

The cluster, you must configure your server in the scenario editor, must be configured one by ATG Server (Server ATG is basically you set to the production server, the value of the server publshing...) One server on server ATG together must be the editor of server, which will be responsible for loading the .sec go ConfigFileSystem and fill the same as tables dss_xref, ProfileAdapterRepository use and ScenarioManager this repository.

After that, don't forget to set up your master/slave deployment, if your have more than one machine, chose a ConfiFileSystem to be your master on each machine and others must be slave, them, CA deployment agent you configure deploy one master to receive ConfigFileSystem.

  • Add a configuration to the library and templates - IP address keeping

Good morning community which is more useful...

I have a few virtual machines in the workspace that I need to add to the library and then create templates while keeping the IP address. The people of my app team made install them and will have to spend a lot of time to reconfigure their applications if the IP address must be changed. These virtual machines are enclosed and in a closed network so no problems with conflicts of IP. End users (below people app) then connect via LM as opposed to RDP.

Thanks in advance for taking a reading.

    Jessie

You seem to have described exactly what did the library.  You also say you want to have certain VM from the templates become configuration that would have a static IP address, once brought in a workspace configuration?

  • Please advice on the Configuration of the network and possibilities.

    Hello

I have a small office at home (me, my wife and 2 employees) and I need to improve my network. It's simply not up to the task.

    Which must be supported:

    • 5 PC desktop
    • 2 notebooks private
    • 2 network printers
    • XBOX
    • NAS
    • Many mobile devices
    • ADSL internet connection
    • Connection internet optical fiber (glass)
    • System network audio (Sonos)

Right now I use a combination of routers/switches of different brands, and I want to spend it again all devices, all from a brand. That's what I want to do:

    • A wired router to handle the traffic internet ADSL and fiber
    • Several access points wireless (1 device with multiple SSID) or multiple devices: a client, a desk, one for home, one for...
    • Home network of offices on a separate subnet from the network
    • Router must be able to act as an OpenVPN client and tunnel specific IP addresses / ports LAN from the intranet to the VPN service provider (it of to hide my IP address, mainly for private use, not for torrenting, right to privacy)
    • Currently, there is no need to be able to Dáil from outside the office, this could change in the future

I was thinking to buy the following:

    • LRT224
    • 2 * LAPAC1750 (since the home + office is large enough)

I reuse a switch 8 ports business grade, no need to replace it.

    My setup is as follows:

ADSL Modem (bridge mode)-\ /-LAPAC1750 for office and clients (2 SSID)

    > - LRT224 -

    Fiber connection-/ |       \--LAPAC1750 for House- + - OpenVPN connection

    |                                |

Switch 8 ports (company) + - direct connection

After reading the manual for both devices, I think that the wireless access points are more then adequate for the task. However, I have my doubts about the LRT224. Yes, it has dual WAN, so perfect for the routing of traffic ADSL or fiber. But the OpenVPN part is not what I need. I need something that is offered by the tomato/DD-WRT flashes for all-in-one routers: OpenVPN client build-in and able to route specific traffic through the VPN tunnel.

My question is: is this, I want to install, possible with devices metntioned, including a tunnel (via AirVPN) OpenVPN implementation to route the traffic/specific devices through, and multiple wireless access points.

I hope some of you can help me here. I won't buy an all-in-one wireless router, since a problem with these devices lies between offten, and I like the look and feel of Linksys devices.

    Thanks in advance.

    With sincere friendships.

    Sjoerd

Edit: fixed formatting and some typo

LRT routers don't tunnel VPN vendors like the Open Source router firmwares.

  • Configuration of the DMZ and USER-BASE10

    Hello

I've been using System DMZ1 variables... 3 and USER-ADDRS1... 5 to identify the different networks. However, I was wondering, what is the difference between the DMZ and USER-BASE10? It is in the name, or they are used in different ways by some aspects of the software?

    Kind regards

    Matt

There is no difference. They are purely just names. The sensorApp just treats them as variables that can be used to specify filters.

  • Should we the DRS and VMotion for tolerance fault? Small cluster host 3

    Hello

I'm slightly confused on some information coming from two different directions. We are in the stages of buying a package of Vsphere Essentials Plus and intend to build a 3 host with shared storage cluster. VSphere essentials plus the package comes with HA which, from my understanding, fail over automatically and restart the virtual machine on the available server. In case of server failure Vmotion or DRS provides something more than HA.

We are told that VMOTION & DRS moves virtual machine of FAILURE to an available server without restarting the virtual machine. I don't know how that's possible, but I wanted to check first with the community.

VSPHERE 4 ESSENTIALS PLUS seems ideal for small host deployments 3 @ $2 600 however, that same lic. for the regular VSPHERE enterprise is $2 800 per CPU that @ 6CPUS is more than $17 K.  Then why should we spend $17 K for business verus a $2 600 essentials more lic for such a small deployment?

    Thank you

    CA

Yes, this is a new feature. http://www.VMware.com/products/fault-tolerance/

It may work on the existing links, but it is recommended to have dedicated interface for FT.

  • Configuration of the cards and CPU

I create a virtual machine, install Linux, then stopping. Using PowerCLI how can I set the CPU to have two cores per socket (either when creating the VM or after stop - or is very well)?

I also remove the NETWORK card that is used to set up and create two new NETWORK cards. If I do not fill the MAC addresses, will be ESXi automatically generate the MAC address during the first use of the virtual machine?  (The virtual machine will be exported and used on different computers.)

    Thank you

Take a look on Re: powercli command to add a CPU processor cores?

  • Create the DRS group for guests in 2 groups

Because of the Microsoft SQL license by the basic model, we need to create groups of DRS for our SQL servers. We have 8 guests, but need to run the SQL VMs on host 2

We are in the process of migrating to ESX 4.0 to ESXi5.5. We already have the server vCenter 5.5

We do not have the configuration of ESXi 5.5 hosts yet, so we need to create the DRS groups on the host of 4.0. MS will not wait for us to migrate first.

We have two clusters (2 external data center). Each with 4 servers esx 4.0. Simple question:

DRS group cannot be created in a cluster? Can I create DRS groups at the level of the data center. Use a host in Cluster1 and a second in cluster2.

    Thank you

DRS group cannot be created in a cluster? Can I create DRS groups at the level of the data center. Use a host in Cluster1 and a second in cluster2.

DRS groups cannot be created in a single cluster and not those of clusters. Nothing else would make no sense in any case. DRS groups are to be limited by the DRS and DRS automatic migrations is only a process of entire cluster in the first place. So what would be the point of a single 'group DRS' through consolidation?

But of course, you can create two distinct groups of DRS 2 separate clusters.

  • VMware DRS and VMware HA

I'm allowed to use VMware DRS and HA but I'm not familiar with what exactly they can do for me and how they might relate to Vmotion.  I turned on my 2 hosts of vmotion, but I guess my virtual machines do not automatically move from one host to another one grave host fails, until it is completely configured.   Could someone give me a quick description and point me in the right direction on how I can use?

I have licenses for the company for the full suite of vsphere.

    DRS - distributed Service Resouces

This process will recommend to move a virtual machine for performance reasons.  This can be set to automatically move virtual machine.  We have defined it this way and it works very well.  VM move on their own see and at night.

    HA - high availability

If a host goes down, this service starts the VM who have been on this subject, to another host automatically.  The virtual machine will be turned off unexpectedly well.

    FT - fault tolerance

This feature is introduced in ESX4 and keep a copy running on another host.  If the primary host fails, the other takes over with no downtime.  It is currently limited to VM with one vCPU however.

DRS and HA are configured in the properties of a Cluster.  If you do not have a cluster, right-click on a datacenter in VC and create a cluster.  Move the hosts in the cluster.  Drag and drop works fine.  Right-click on the cluster, and then select both.  Once activated, you can configure the DRS and HA.
