  A1084... assuming it works... could probably be used for AirPlay, but the A1084 calls this AirTunes.

  The A1084 is at least 9 years old, probably older and the average useful life of an AirPort Express is about 3-4 years. It is amazing the A1084 to work at all, but school drop-outs you see now with the Express indicates that it is heading for the South, he may not be around much longer.

  Like many people here, I have a combination of features b/g, n and ca.  I want to make sure my end of 2013 iMac connects optimally via ac.  It is in the line of fire of the new router in 25', so it should be in a good location, if all goes well.

  My question is if I have to just put up an SSID and let devices their own switching group; or experienced here people recommend a SSID separated for the strip of the 5 GHz for ac and n devices?

  Start with normal default values.

  That is to say the band permutation is left to the Mac and SSID is the same on both bands.

  On the first screen of the wizard, it tells me that my device is not configured (I agree)

  Then I ask him to set up a wireless network.

  When I get to the network selection page, both my network AND my network of comments (that I let my neighbor use) are on the list with the full signal strength.

  When I click on my network and then continue, the HP installation wizard hangs and I have to stop, he.

  When I click on my guest and then network continue, I get the message that my network is not within reach.  (FYI, the printer is 10 feet from the router).

  I tried to power on/off the printer, the router and the computer at all different stages of the process with no luck.

  My radio is set to the most compatible choice

  'Use wide channels' and "Create a closed network" is unchecked

  I'm happy to try the "Add client in the network" thing I've seen on other posts, but I don't think that I have a front panel of the printer where I can start the "WPS" (don't know what it is) process.   If I do, it is not obvious and not in the HP manual.

  My ISP is Comcast (cable internet).

  I'd really, really grateful for the help!  Please let me know what I forgot to include information, and I will be happy to provide it.

  I found something on Google that says wireless devices should be filled, by disabling the Wlan partition.  I don't know what that means.   Another article said I could name the SSID separately and connect the printer to the 2.4 Ghz band.  Even when I don't know what that means.    Can you help me?  I do not know the printer Canon MG 5720 I bought does not work and I need to just throw it out.  I want to not to make another mistake.

  On your Mac...

  Open Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility

  Click on the image of The AirPort Extreme

  Click Edit in the window that appears

  

  Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the next window

  Click on the button Options Wireless at the bottom of the next window

  Click to enter a check mark in the name of 5 GHz box

  Click Update at the bottom right of the next window and give the airport a minute full for restart

  The name of your normal wireless network is now a 2.4 GHz signal only.  The other wireless network has "5 GHz" appended to the name, so it's 5 GHz network

  Connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz network

  The name of '5 GHz' added now is the network of 5 GHz. connect devices in this band for a faster connection.

  Just to close this debate; unfortunaely the quick response has not responded to the problem. BestBuy has suggested that I try a composed of derivation of a shot and 2 containers. Finally, I got the system works 'after' discovery that the enormous power brick disliked the new arrangement of power when I replaced the old computer with the desire. I had to replace an adapter 3 - wat and consolidate the brick. A lot of noise to get her old system to work but now I have the choice of speakers or headphones driven by a hold on a HDMI monitor.   I just upgraded my router to the extreme of Apple Air Port and cannot figure out how to connect the printer to the router.  I do not have the CD that came with the printer and can't find where to download the HP software.  The printer is recognized on computers (Mac OS 10.9.2) goal will not display because it is "not connected" to the network.   Before, I just used the WPS option on the printer and pushed the button on the router.  Since this is not an option more, I keep looking, but does not know where to put the PIN either.  Help, please!

  Thanks for the reply.  I called Apple support and they walked me through the steps of adding a printer WPS to extreme Air Port (Airport basestations Menu utility (top), then select Add a WPS printer and then have it search for printer or enter the PIN).  He missed by looking at the menu at the top of the AirPort Utility where the Menu Option of base station is... But I can't believe how it was difficult to try to find a solution to the HP Web site for that!  Looks like it would be a simple soultion to the list.

  I guess your printer takes only supported a parallel port and uses the parallel cable, but you do not find these ports on the Satellite. Am I wrong?

  Well, my old printer DeskJet 840C uses the same cable that your and I had the same problem with my newest Satellite phone. My old laptop supports the parallel port.

  However, I just bought a USB-> parallel port adapter and it works. But I recommend to test the adapter first because not all working correctly.
