Connect laptop to home Windows 7 to Windows XP Pro Server

I have a new laptop with Windows 7 home charged thereon.  I have XP Pro on my server and want to connect the laptop.  Remote Desktop will not work.  How can I created this?

Hi Juliana,

·        What version of Windows 7 is installed on your laptop?

To access a computer from another computer, you must first allow remote connections on the computer that you want to access, which must be running one of the following versions of Windows:

·        Windows XP Professional edition

·        Windows Vista Business, Ultimate or Enterprise edition

·        Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise edition.

You can access the link below and follow the steps described in the article for installation with computer XP Remote Desktop connection.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/allow-remote-desktop-connections-from-outside-your-home-network

With remote desktop connection, you can access a computer runningWindows from another computer running Windows that is connected to the same network or to the Internet.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/connect-to-another-computer-using-Remote-Desktop-connection

What types of connections remote desktop should I allow?

I bought a laptop with a windows xp pro, I have the serial number, but I don't have the installation disc. How can I know which version I need? SP3 has not worked... at the moment I am testing SP1

The serial number of the computer has nothing to do with the product key for Windows.

What happened when you tried to install Xp with sp3? If you do not have the original for the computer that you use to install Windows?

You can try to contact the manufacturer of the computer who may be able to provide the recovery disc. The disks are usually under $ 20.

  • Web Cam not working not not on HP laptop after installing Windows 8 Pro disc

Does anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks for the information.  I can't believe that HP would do this to his past clients.

I have 2 laptop computers HP, a Pavilion dv7-3174nr and a Pavilion dv7-4177nr.  Sorry for not mentioning that.  I use Windows 8 Pro at the same time.  I have to reformat one of them to Windows 7 so that I can have a web cam.  A waste of money to have paid for another license of software of Windows 8.  I really want to spend more money on the software (you Cam), in order to use the Web Cam on one.

I will use the information that you gave me.

Thanks a lot for helping me.  I'm sure this information will help other people who do not know the decisions of HP on hardware.

  • Upgrade Windows 7 Home/Windows 10 Pro Dual boot computer CPU

I plan on upgrading my CPU to a core of an I5 Quad model, dual Pentium G630. The card mother won't be replaced as it can accommodate a socket LGA-1155. I can also be tempted to replace my current system with a 250 GB SSD drive. It is a dual-boot computer that used to have two installations of Windows 7: it was OEM that came pre-installed, when the computer was purchased, and the other was a retail version. The OEM version updated to win Pro 8, then Win 8.1.1 and finally Windows 10 Pro.

I would wait for activation or problems that this will be a smooth operation?

If so, what might be the complications?

    Thanks for the tips

  • Acrobat DC cannot find the scanner connected to 10 Home Windows but Windows can

    Hi all

I'm fighting to get DC Acrobat and Photoshop CC to scan from my printer/scanner HP connected via a wireless network.  Acrobat DC reports no scanners found then I have to use a browser for the analysis that works every time.  So my question is which port is DC Acrobat and Photoshop to use so I can check if these ports are blocked by another application.  Many thanks and best wishes,

Have you installed the scanner driver? These applications will not reach out by using a browser.

I upgraded the laptop to a client in Vista business to Windows 7 Professional. He doesn't have a single user account, but a second series of connection icons will appear on the screen of welcome for the user and the other user. How can I get rid of the second series of connection icons and the icon of the user only see that? Picture of the screen can be found at http://gymcan.org/images/IMG_0307.JPG .

Thanks for your help, if necessary.

By using an administrator account, go to the Control Panel, open user accounts. Click on 'Manage another account' at the bottom. Remove users, that you don't want on your computer. Note: Be sure to remove ONLY the users you don't want - if you delete a user, you need, it is not recoverable.

  • Connect two PCs using Windows 7 with a crossover cable

Hi, I used the crossover cable to connect two PCs with Windows 7 pro 64-bit and I did everything right I know, but computers do not display the each other. How can I solve this big problem!

Default gateway cannot be 0.0.0.0. In addition, computers must be able to talk to each other, so the gateway must match the IP address of the other computer. Right now, the installation program is not talking to each other.

    Try this:

    PC 1

    IP: 192.168.2.1

    SUP: 255.255.255.0

    Gateway: 192.168.2.2

    DNS server: 192.168.2.2

    PC 2

    IP: 192.168.2.2

    SUP: 255.255.255.0

    Gateway: 192.168.2.1

    DNS server: 192.168.2.1

  • Pass license MSDN Windows 8 Pro of VM to real PC

    Hello

I've been rate switching PCs of Windows 7 Pro for Windows 8 Pro on a VMware client for some time using a MSDN license key.

I solved all my questions and I am now considering buying a PC of Windows 8.

    My question is:

Can I use the Windows 8 pro license key that I used on the VM client to upgrade a new PC bought with Windows 8 Home Windows 8 Pro?

As long as you unset the virtual machine, you can move the license for the new PC.

Press the Windows key + X

    Click System

    On Windows, click the link:

Get more features with a new edition of Windows

Click on the "I already have a product key link.

Enter your product key and you will be promoted to the Pro.

You will need to reactivate by telephone, because the license was already in use:

    Activation of the phone:

    1. press the Windows key + X , and then click run, and then type: slui.exe 4

    2. then press the ENTER"" key.

    3. Select your "country" in the list.

    4. choose the option "activate phone".

    5. stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    6. explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • Lightroom 4 is compatible with Windows 10 Pro?

    Hello

My new laptop comes with Windows 10 Pro and I don't want to go down to 8.1 Windows.

BTW, according to system requirements (https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/system-requirements.html), Lr 4 is compatible up to Windows 8, not even 8.1.

Anynone tried (successfully ) installation of Lr 4 on W10?

    k.

LR 4 is compatible up to Windows 8, not even 8.1.

This was written before the existence of Windows 10, then of course it is not listed. Very likely, Lightroom 4 work fine on Windows 10.

  • I have problems wireless on my Acer laptop which has Windows Vista. I am able to connect to my school of university network and used to connect to my home network.

original title: Wireless on the Fritz

I have problems wireless on my Acer laptop which has Windows Vista.  I am able to connect to my school of university network and used to connect to my home network (both are networks limited requiring a password or log in).  However, last week my computer stopped connecting to my home network (no one else has this problem with the home network).  I tried to fix the problem, but my computer says that "Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive response from the access point or wireless router."  That said also thatthe connection "(my wireless network)" has been cancelled.  This is perhaps due to a timeout or user action. »

The only different thing I did last week was click option at my University 'connect long-term' instead of 'connect short term' to their wireless network.  Maybe who has messed up my settings?  That's what my University said of his record long term: "students, faculty and staff also have an option to easily record their computer (or other wireless devices), so that it is not necessary to authenticate each day they connect from the network wireless campus, to resources outside the University.»  However, these settings are saved on their network (I can access it online from another computer), so I think it is unlikely that he messed up my settings.

I don't really know what the problem is.  Any ideas as to what I can do?  I don't want to reset my computer everything.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    You can view these methods:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to disable any program of security on your computer and check if it solves the problem.

After reviewing the question you must reactivate the security on your computer program.
Note: Run the computer without antivirus software or firewall is a potential threat to the computer; Be sure to activate security software after completing the troubleshooting steps and after identifying the problem.
    Method 2:
I suggest also allows you to check in SafeMode with network.
    Method 3:
I also suggest you to check the settings of the router firewall.
  • Need to connect to the home network wireless - Windows XP Pro - error with network password - needs to be 40bits or 104 bits...

I have a new laptop at home which has windows xp sp 2 is installed.  I am trying to connect to my wireless network.
    I get the following error;
The network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration.  This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii or 26 hexadecimal characters.

I gave my father a new laptop computer this fall and he gave me one that had given him his friend... I've never worked with XP Pro...

We have several other phones on this account wireless at home.

You try to login with the wrong encryption method and you have this implemented extremely secure wireless network.

Have a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Examples given are for a Linksys router. See the manual of your router or the router mftr's Web site. for the parameters by default if you don't have a Linksys. Open a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and in the address bar type:

http://192.168.1.1 [Enter] (it is default IP address of the router, which varies from router to router then check your manual)

This will bring you to the login screen of the router. The default username is blank and the Linksys default password is "admin" without the quotes. Enter this information. You are now in the configuration of the router utility. Your configuration utility may be slightly different from mine. The first thing to do is to change the default password because * all * known default passwords for different routers.

Click the Administration link at the top of the page. Enter your new password. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE. Re-enter the password to confirm it, and then click Save settings at the bottom of the page. The router will reboot and show you the box of connection again. Do not fill in the user name and put it in your new password to enter the configuration utility.

Now, click on the link wireless at the top of the page. Change the network name (SSID) wireless by default to something, you'll recognize. I suggest that my clients not use their surname as the SSID. For example, you might want to name your network wireless network "CastleAnthrax" or similar. ;-)

Click on save settings and when you get the prompt that your changes were successful, click the wireless security link which is just beside the Basic Wireless Settings link (where you changed your SSID). Most computers purchased during the last 4 years have the wireless hardware that will support WPA2-Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK). This is the desired encryption level. If your wireless hardware is older, use WPA. Don't use WEP, because who is easily broken within minutes. So go ahead and set the Security Mode WPA2-Personal. Do this and enter a password. For example, you could use the password ' here be dragons, beware you scurvy dogs! The password is what you enter on all computers that are allowed to connect to the wireless network. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE.

At this point, your router is set up and if the computer that you use to configure the router will normally connect wireless, disconnect the ethernet cable and wireless of the computer should see your new network. Enter the password that you have created (exactly as you wrote it with all capital letters and punctuation) to join the network and start surfing. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Try to configure Windows XP Pro and Vista Home Premium to connect wireless to a field internal.

Hello. I recently graduated from a COMPUTER course that was very intense, but I don't think that it covered all the basics for me quite challenge the MCSA exams. In order for me to do, I bought a bunch of MS Press books covering ISA Server, Server 2003, Exchange, etc. My journey made us buy copies of Server 2003 and XP Professional, so that we can continue to practice at home.

One of the things I wanted to do has been implemented a network in my home, using the software I have (not about to try 2008, although I think that one of the books I ordered comes with a version of a test - but it is in a game for the MSITP exams).

This is how I currently have my network configuration. Currently, everything is wireless. I have 1 spare computer that I use as DC with active driectory.

Currently I have a router D-Link DIR 655 (located in the basement) which acts as a gateway to the internet server and dhcp on my network and WPA2-PSK encryption use.

I have a laptop with Windows XP Pro top (that I gave to my wife - old laptop I have baught strictly for the course, I took), and it is completely wireless. It is located on the ground floor.

I have an office (located on the 2nd floor) using Vista Home Premium 64-bit. It's wireless.

There is also a network of printers laser color next to the router in the basement, connected via an ethernet cable.

On the main floor is also my Wii, which connects wireless.

So, as you can see, it's a mixture of differnet devices connected through my router.  I have the Wii or the printer to connect to the domain specifically. The printer must be accessible to computers on the domain, but the wii should just be able to connect to the internet via the router.

The spare box I have kicking around, I put 2003 on server and install active directory. I will also implement via this network storage server. I would like to put up to control the accounts of users of my wife and myself and that it uses roaming profiles.

This works very well when it connects directly through, but how to configure something like this works wirelessly? I read something on another forum in which is setting up a wireless bootstrap, to authenticate against a Radius Server, and then log in to the domain. However I don't have the money to spend to get ISA Server.  The server will be basically be there just to provide roaming profiles and to store things out of our systems, incase we have problems with one of our computers. We could set up something for our own internal e-mail in the future, but since we live in the same House, it seems rather useless at the moment lol maybe set something in the future to let the other note or purchase or to do list. But for now, just want to configure what initially appears to be a single domain with roaming profiles.

Everyone has tried to do that? Connection of the wireless networks in a field, with a router provides the address and gateway?

    Carlo

  • Windows 7 does not recognize that I am connected to my home wireless network.

I've recently updated my desktop and my laptop at home for Win 7. I'm trying to set up a home network, but on my laptop, I can't change my home network location. Even though my laptop is connected to the internet via my wireless router, Windows don't think that I'm connected to a network. When I click on "connect to a network", it shows that I am connected to my wireless router. When I try to set up a home network on the laptop, it tells me I need to change the network location of the Public at home, but since he did not think that I am connected, it will not allow to do me this.  I searched the internet and worked through it for hours, but can't seem to find a solution to this problem.
