Hello

-What is the security software and firewall program you use?
-Are you having the same problem if you try to connect to the router via a cable?
-You are aware of any changes made on the computer before this problem?

Method 1: Temporarily disable firewall and third-party software on the computer for a test.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off
Note: You should not turn off Windows Firewall unless you have another firewall is enabled. Turning off Windows Firewall may make your computer (and your network, if you have one) more vulnerable to damage caused by worms or hackers.
Disable the anti-virus software and try to install the updates.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Clean Boot Mode
I suggest to maintain the computer in clean boot mode and check if the problem persists.
A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After the troubleshooting steps, see step 7 in binding boot is a way of putting your computer to normal startup mode.

Method 3: If the problem persists, I suggest you run the hotfix mentioned below link and check if that helps.
You cannot connect to a wireless network on a Windows Vista-based computer

Hope this information helps.

  • Vista will not connect to Netgear WPA/WPA2 wireless router

HP Presario laptop with Vista Home Premium. Added Service packs 1 & 2 in a timely and all upgrades of MS Vista through 8/11. Laptop does not work on the wireless network using a new Netgear N300 router with WPA/WPA2-PSK security.  Roommate has Windows 7 on his laptop and connects very well. I thought that these Service packs were supposed to solve the problem of Vista-WPA? My laptop connects fine with the router if I use an Ethernet cable directly between the laptop and the router. NetGear argues that it is a matter of MS Vista. I missed a special fix?  Any suggestions?

  • Modem/wireless router with USB port

    Welcome to the HP Forum!

Qwest is wrong. There are a number of manufacturers that make routers wireless with USB ports. This is a new trend.

D - Link makes this one. Unfortunately, it has been abandoned. Linksys makes this one.

Belkin makes one in this video.

  • New S10 could not connect to the Netgear WGR641v8 wireless router

    All,

Really frustrated with the nine s10 that I received this afternoon. All my other laptops are able to connect to the router Netgear wireless fine but this one. I could connect the s10 of unsecured networks of neighbors very well, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem. More compatibility issue with built in network card wireless Broadcom and Netgear chipset. I was able to connect to the local network with thin cable.

Anyone have any better ideas? I updated latest firmware for the router. I think also got the latest version of the driver for the adapter. Where is the problem? I tried setting secured or unsecured (no password) for the router, no luck. I'm scratching my head right now.

This is the first time ever, I have a new laptop failed on me. I contacted the customer service and the guy had no idea.

    Anyway, thanks in advance.

The WGR641v8 has enabled ' Access List' (it limits the devices that can connect to only those network manually allow)?

I have a Netgear DG834G or something like and a S12 (I think it was the same as the S10 (but not sure) WiFi adapter), once I'd added it is MAC to my list of access routers, I was able to connect without any problem (actually I use said WiFi connection right now).

[edit] Also, check what encryption protocol you should use and what windows uses - he can't pick up the correct one to use and if the connection is a fail for this reason. [/ edit]

  • Why can't I access the modem 192.168.1.1 when connected to the wireless router?

I'm unable to access my DSL Modem 6100 Westell using 192.168.1.1 when connected to the Netgear WNDR3400 wireless router. I can access it, however, when I connect directly to the ethernet port on the computer without going through the router. I've set up according to the instructions. Is it possible to correct the problem?

This isn't a problem.  This is the standard behavior.  You are connected to the side LAN of the router that is isolated from the side WAN (uplink).  This is the mode of operation of routers.

  • NB300 will not connect to my wireless router

    Can someone help me please?

I have an old week NB300 laptop computer that has a built in Atheros AR9285 wireless network adapter.
I have problems connecting to my D-Link wireless router/AP.

None of my other wireless products have connection problems, and it is only this laptop that won't.
I have reset the modem/router, I unplugged the adapter wireless in Device Manager and updated drivers.

We can see broadcasting and all other my neighbours routers, but just used to connect.

    Any suggestions out there?

    Hello

You mean NB300 can see your WLan and other WLan in the neighborhood, but cannot connect?

This would mean that the WLan is enabled correctly because the WiFi network around you are visible
In any case, check if you have enabled the WLAN using the FN + F8 key.

In addition, you should go to the properties of the wireless network and need to check the TCP/IP protocol. Disable the IPV6 Protocol and use only IP v4

In the properties of the TCP/IP Protocol, you should check if all options are set to automatic.
MAC address filtering, no encryption, encryption password must be checked as well!

By the way; Here you will find the latest Wlan drivers:

    Finally a resolution...

I tried running an ePrint of New York telephone, and it worked, but still no luck wirelessly from the PC printing.

He said that the WiFi was indeed working.  So, I did a search for new firmware and found that there was one in April of this year (2016).  Downloaded and took a chance on install.  To my amazement, it is actually installed on the printer without any connection "connected".  Who told me that there is an existing wireless link.

Once the install is complete firmware, I tried to print a worksheet Excel from the PC, and it actually printed!  I have to assume there was something in the formware upgrade which allowed the router from LinkSys (WRT1900AC) to communicate fully and to work with the PC.  The router was published in 2014, so maybe it was.

In any event, everything is in fully working again.

Man y thanks to all who have shared their data entry.  I hope this could help someone with a similar problem in the future.

    Thanks again!

    Mark
