Connected to the domain, cannot access disks shared, including personal drive.

It is a corporate environment. There is a remote desktop that has 6 users. All had access to network drives including their personal record on the network. Today they no longer have access. I checked the research areas DNS and DHCP. The adapter says it is connected to our area, and I can connect to the internet / DESKTOP remote connections to our server works very well.

Any ideas as what would have caused this?

I can see other computers on a network of peer to peer windows XP but cannot access their shared files and the shared printer. The computers are connected by a switch, fixed IP addresses that are correctly configured and point to a DNS server outside the network. When I try to open the icon for one of the computers, he asked for credentials. I try to type the user name for the computer that is sharing the resource and the password. It is the user account whose computer is loged on and belongs to the Administrators group. for example: user name (Computer1\username) password (password). It does not work. If the portion of the machine has activated - Simple file sharing (i.e. it is XP Home or it is XP Pro with Simple (default) file sharing) - while all file sharing connections authenticate as user 'guest '.  It will not matter what username / password you provide, it will attempt to authenticate as 'guest '.  If the guest user has received a password or the guest account is not active, you will experience the symptoms you describe.

If the serving machine running XP Pro and Simple file sharing is disabled, then you should be able to connect by specifying the user as computer\user and the password to connect.  To turn off Simple file sharing:

  • Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access is denied.

    From: Steve

Desperately, I try to print from my laptop Windows Vista Home Premium to a shared printer on my home wireless network.  The shared printer is connected to a XP Home machine.  This machine is wired (via a LAN cable) to the wireless router.  I can 'see' the printer that I want to use but trying to to connect to it. I get the error message "Windows cannot connect to the printer.  Access is denied. "I would be grateful for any help.

    Kind regards.

    -Steve

    From: Alan Morris [MSFT]

Since the XP machine is HOME, I don't think that the permissions dialog box is accessible.

Run the XP network sharing wizard again and see if it affects safety correctly on sharing.

Is the printer you share one that has drivers provided with Windows XP?

In the meantime we will at least get the printer works for you.

Create a local printer on Windows Vista; Creation of a Local Port in the form \\XPMACHINE\Printsharename (this will send the files by using the redirector instead of the RPC service).  Install the Windows Vista driver for the device.

You can print because print$ access is required for printer drivers.

  • Add Printer__ Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access is denied

Laptops have just loaded with Windows 7 Pro on my domain. Try to load printers to a print server. Print server running Windows 2003 R2.

When I log in with a user profile, I go to devices and printers------click Add a printer-network printer select------I see a list of printers on the print server - choose the printer that I want to load------asked if I have confidence in this printer - click install drver------opens window files Coping - green bar moves as if it were loading drivers------then just before you get to the window asking if you want to make a default printer. open window that says - Connect Add Printer (X RED) for printer Windows cannot connect to the printer. Access is denied

Changes to device settings to allow the user load the drivers. Check the security access (everyone has permissions) for this printer on the print server.

Disable UAC control on the laptop. Group Policy has changed restrictions point and print.

But this same user can log on to another computer on the network, which has loaded XP Pro and can load the same printers that are denied with windows 7 pro

As a network administrator, I can log on to laptop computers and load A B and C printers.

So I can log on as a user and then I can load A B and C printers, but as a user I want printer D I get the same message as above.

Thank you in advace for your help

This is the solution I received and seems to work.

You have to go into the local group policy on Windows 7 computers, and not on the server.

    Go to the Group Policy:

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Printers\Point and printing Restrictions ss SET TO OFF

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Printers\Point and printing Restrictions ss SET TO OFF

    Hi MelissaBoltik,

    ·         What is the exact error message?

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Perform a clean boot to see if there is a conflict of software like the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting steps, follow section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start and then click Run.

    (b) type msconfig and click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

Is it possible to enter into the machine without the admin password.

    Here you asked two questions:

    1. How to recover password lost admin: the best way is to use windows recovery or just map the Vm cd to iso image of your OS drive. And making the VM to start from the CD and then installation steps use the OS repair option.

I think that yes the time spent here will u be about even if you use the new virtual machine fresh construction.

When you join a system to a domain, a computer account is created in the domain of the system.  Your server automatically changes the password for this account of computer at set intervals.  What happens is that after you've taken your snapshot your guest has changed his password for the machine account.  Then when go back you to your snapshot your guest tent to use the old password.

To work around this problem, before you take the mark of the snapshot next registry change that turns off the changes of automatic password for the computer account on the domain:

    Hello

I just got a laptop with windows 7 on it and I want to connect to my other PC for it, they are on the same network through a router. the PC can see and access the laptop without asking for a user name and password but the laptop cannot access the PC because it asks me a username and password that I don't know.

If someone could answer this question, it would be great.

    Hello
    Maybe this can help.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

After watching the system manufacturer, you can check the manufacturer of the device an even newer version. (The
