connection and installation of router

From the beginning, when I bought the years WRT54G the CD never worked there. I had to call tech support to guide me through the phone (he admitted that I could not install with CD). Now when I crashed and lost or corrupted settings in my computer (XP) and there is no guarantee of more I have to use the manual installation to reinstall. My question relates to the stage where I'm supposed to 'renew' ip address of my computer by using the command function. If I go into the command to change this ip address, which affect the dsl service my ISP gives me, as well as internet access or programs will not install on my computer? Why should I change the ip address of the computer?

Eureka! You are a genius scrooge. Thank you! Your suggestions worked, and I write this response on my wireless computer. Why is - what the Linksys utility (s) cannot take into account these parameters?

More dare I say, opening a session on this forum is always a roundabout confused circle compared to any other forum, in that I never recorded.  For example, if I wanted to reply to your message I think advising me in my email, what is the direct procedure to connect and answer without having to do a search after error messages telling me I do not exist, the message has been deleted, or I'm not authenticated etc. ?

Thanks again

    I have a Toshiba laptop 64 bit running Windows 10 Home, 8 GB, 1 t hard drive.

Router is a Samsung phone using Android because it was the only router that I could find which would take the wireless signal.

I live very pastoral, no neighbours for miles, so I never saw the need for a password on my router.

Now, some people are installs in less than 400 feet from me, and I think they're piggybacking on my Wifi because my access speed has slowed considerably since they moved in.

So I decided to change the password of the router, unfortunately, I can not put in any password I want.  It gives me the opportunity to have a predefined password.  So I changed the name of the router I could do without problem.

My computer very quickly without any problem, however, my printer which worked great for a year with the old router name does not connect on the new name of the router.

    Here is what I tried:

I had hoped he would ask me for a new name / password, but it did not.

Then I plugged a cable between the printer and the laptop in the hopes that it would produce a different kind of results.  It has not changed anything.  There is no screen menu on what that be like this on the printer.

I pressed the wireless button that has the flashing blue light and nothing happened.

I pressed the button, don't know what it is, but it has a white light, and nothing happened.

I went on the HP site and followed the instructions but he just said do not connect the cable until told to do so.  So I disconnected everything, lights out and turned back on and still no connection and no invite to plug whatever it is.

Y at - it everywhere where I have being a novice could get instructions on how to get this working?

I appreciate any help you can give me.  Thank you.

  • Can someone help me to establish a wireless connection with an Android Cruz Tablet and a Linksys router?

I have a Linksys WRT54G2 V1 and received a Velocity Cruz T301 and cannot figure out how to configure this wireless, I don't have the cd or the manual that is supposed to come with her. Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I've got Linksys plugged into my desktop ok, but when I try to access the installation page that says let him the empty user name and use admin as password should it take me to the installation site. That is not the case, that is to say invalid.

Tablet turns on fine and shows different connections wireless with little locks on them. The 1st time I tried to set up a connection, he showed with others, but it has a lock on it and wants to know the password. He used the name of my computer not the Linksys.

My computer is hooked on one of the 4 ports and says that I have excellent connections. There is a Linksys right below that, but he said connection is bad. It is not locked, but is not strong enough to get even on the tablet of the Cruz connection.

Now I know why I've always had wired connections, cause it makes me crazy. If anyone can help I'd be very happy. If only I could get across to the top of page the things would be very different, I'm sure, but it is just let me access it. I tried 3 different browsers. My computer Windows Vista on a Dell vostro 220 desktop is connected to the Linksys router and works fine.

But don't know about the card installed in this unit wireless network. It s a 2200BG Intel wlan card and if you will look on other assignments, there are many questions about this wlan card.
Usually the wlan card driver update will solve some problem of connectivity and also turning off the power save mode in the properties of the wlan card.

  • When I try to connect to the wireless router, it asks you the password I put it and he then asked again and will not accept the password. all other computers (without windows 7) connect correctly.

My new computer has windows 7 when I try to connect it to my router it ask the password, then he asks the network password I put in the same password and it does not accept it. I spent ove an hour on the phone with a very helpful and confused expert to the Virgin. He tells me that the password only I need to communicate with the router is the main. We tried a lot of things all very technical and finally he gave up. Other computers with vista on connect very well with no problems at all.

The network is fine and all the settings are fine. Occasionally, it connects via a home network but then it stops. When I try to communicate with the printer wireless signal stops and starts.

I don't hold much hope of a response that experts were left very confused by this first abandoned after 45 minutes and the second lastered over an hour are totally flumaxed and blame windows 7

But everyone told me that windows 7 was supposed to be the best

With respect to the sharing of printer (s), microsoft has a utility called 'Print Migrator'

    Hello

    Maybe this can help.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Homegroup = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Network of home or work = fundamentally similar (and better) to the previous Working Group sharing methods which allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

To get best results connect to each computer system screen and set all the computers to be on a bearing the same name of Working Group , while each computer has its own unique name.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_name.jpg

Make sure that the software firewall, AV, or other security components allow free local traffic on all network computers. If you use the 3rd group of security, firewall native Vista/XP must be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please Note that some 3rd party software firewall/AV/security costumes continue to block aspects of the Local traffic even it they are off (off).
If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic.

If you end up with the 3rd party software uninstalled or disabled, make sure that Windows native firewall is active .

    -----------------

Network Win 7 with another version of Windows as a work network (works very well if all computers are Win 7 also).

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

    -------------

If you have permission and security issues with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/permission-security.jpg

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

    * Note . All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account onall computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users. It is available to avoid the need to configure permission for each on its own, it does not mean all those who feel that they would like to connect.

  • Cannot access Internet even if the router USB adapter Wireless G made the connection and

Hello, I recently bought a Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with SpeedBooster model WUSB54GSC to go with my Wireless-G Broadband Router model WRT54G2 and I can't access the internet.  The laptop tells me I am connected and that force is Excellent, but when I open my browser, I can't access any site at all. When I try to add the laptop to my network magic on my computer, it tells me that it cannot connect with the laptop.  My Nintendo Wii and Itouch work perfectly with the router so I think it's my browser settings, but I can't understand it.  Thank you!

Hey, thanks for trying to help out.  It turns out that my firewall did not allow the laptop to access the internet.  I made a few adjustments on my firewall settings and it all worked out great.

  • ASUS Infinity wifi connects to the WRT54G Router and network, but not the internet

I have a WRT54G work throughout our House. It has 4 ports for wired ethernet and multiple wireless connections works without any problem. Currently my Droid phone, Tablet iPad and 2 laptops to connect and move to the internet via a wireless connection.

Today, I bought a new Asus TF700T Infinity tablet.  I can so he can connect to the router, see the network and the router can see the Tablet Infinity (assigns an IP address), but no internet access.

I need some ideas here, or suggestions as to what tools I can use to see where the traffic of the Tablet is blocked.  The newspaper on the router shows me nothing. I guess there is a port blocked by the router, but no idea those who.

Tried reset hard and a firmware upgrade does not.  In fact the latest firmware upgrade (4.21.5) watered the entire network, so I started 4.21.1

Maybe it's not a router issue maybe that's the problem with the Tablet? Can ping you the ip address assigned to the ipad? You can also try t o assign a static settings on your tablet. If these things still do not work, you may need to contact asus support.

No matter what patches I try, I still, I get a message error "settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network. This default laptopp local only access point. Fix regedit for broadcast and Fixit file downloaded here have not solved the problem. Have you tried to push the direct connection button on the router, change the network connections settings... everything. Nothing works. Help, please! The user of this laptop is uber frustrated. I don't know what else to do.

Geek Squad - use if you do not want necessarily fixed it - but you like overspending for no reason.

    Sounds like a bad driver/software.

What is the wireless network device in the system in question (I hope that something like Intel...?)

Is the latest software and drivers from the manufacturer of the device (don't not relying on Microsoft)?

May need to remove all network components, reset it and install the latest drivers - and if you think Geek Squad would do that...  They could - if you get a child who loves really networking of their own things at home - but the odds are against it.

  • Intermittent connections and router suggestions

    Hi all.

I have problems with my connections sporadically connect and disconnect each time I turn on my Playstation 3. I have all ports forwarded and to be, but I'll always have these problems.

    Here is my current setup:

    Router WRT54G

    Wireless:

2 notebooks, 1 pc, Nintendo wii and a Nintendo DS to occaisonally

    Wired:

    1 PC, 1 Xbox 360, 1 Playstation 3

I even put my PS3 on a demilitarized zone and it did not help.

What should I do to stop the disconnect, and if it requires a better router, which would you recommend?

    Reduce the MTU

    Connect to http://192.168.1.1

Leave the user name and password - admin

    Change MTU - Manual

    Change the size of 1365

    Click on save settings.
