Connection of ARD of Time Machine settings

My main computer has failed yesterday and came out for repair.

I downloaded ARD on my MacBook Pro, but do not have the connection string information to connect to the computers of my client (on the main computer). I have the Time Machine backup but could not find the connection string information.

I have replaced/Library/Application Support / Apple / Remote Desktop, /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteManagement.plist and /Library/Preferences/com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist with the Time Machine backup and rebooted the laptop.

I do not have my connection strings. Where is the connection string information stored?

Hi tijoev,

Don't know what version of ARD that you use.

-Latest versions of ARD have parameters stored in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.RemoteDesktop

-Restore everything in this backup TM folder and restart.

Unfortunately, Apple does not provide repairs or even for the time Capsule repair parts.  If the Capsule is still under warranty, Apple will replace the device for you. Or, if you have AppleCare implemented one of your Mac and the Capsule is less than 3 years, Apple will also replace the device for you.

There are 5 different versions of the time Capsule, so if your device is not covered by warranty or the AppleCare, whether or not repairs might be possible will depend on what model you have and how old the device that can be.

You have the "tower" version of time Capsule-shaped, or the old version 'flat' or 'square '?

If you have the old version of flat, square, look on the bottom of the unit for the model number. It starts with an "A" followed four digits.

  • Backup and restore with MacPro and Pegasus using Time Machine

    Hello

I have more than one mac mini, and Mac Pro.  I have external Pegasus 12 TB and two external hard drives of 4 TB.

Im trying to back up all servers in those storage unit.

I can see them in every window of servers as being selectable but I get an error of error OSSTATUS 2

It was suggested to connect all readers behind the time machine backup, but it has not been that reliable.

Do you have a suggestion of how to back up each server Pegasus 12 TB and 4 TB two external disks?

I can't wait to hear your thoughts

    Joe

From a given computer, you can back up all drives connected locally to this Time Machine backup drive.

The backup drive Time Machine for a particular computer can be a locally attached disk, a drive attached to a "Tall" Time Capsule or a network drive 'shared' by another Mac on your network. The Time Machine backup disk cannot be a NAS drive, because the restoration of these discs is not completely reliable.

The space required for the proper functioning of Time Machine is at least two times greater than the amount to save, and 2.5 to 3 times more is recommended.

Make sure your TC has no ID configuration inside apple. There is a bug at the moment that Apple introduced recently.

I highly recommend a clean installation with short names etc.

    Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

    The installer the TC.

Then redo the configuration of the computer that you want to use for TM using Airport utility.

    1. the use of very short names... NO APPLE RECOMMENDED names. Without the space and pure alphanumeric characters.

for example TCgen5 for the base station and the name of the TCwifi wireless.

If the wireless is still an issue defined wireless names like TC24ghz and assigned the 5 GHz other name... for example. TC5ghz

    2. use all passwords also consistent with 1. but maybe a little longer. IE 8 and 20 characters of mixed cases and numbers... no alphanumeric non-caracteres.

** 3. If the TC is router, you can ignore this point. It is only a problem when the TC is bridged.

If ensure that the TC is always the same IP address... you will need to do this on the main router using a dhcp reservation... or a bit more complex setup by using the static IP address in the TC.

Ignore this point if you don't understand it... after the return if you drop questions.

    4. be sure that IPv6 is set correctly in the computer. IE link-local only for ethernet or wireless depending on whether you are using. Car is not good enough.

  • Peripheral USB take two tests at work and does not start with Time Machine drive connected

I have a 2015 mid Macbook Pro 15 "work (so I can't afford to take this service for a period of days). My specs are:

I am running the latest version of El Capitan, 10.11.4.

My problem is that USB devices - such as Logitech USB headsets, USB sticks, external hard drives, etc. - always and I always say, require two plugins to be detected by the system. It doesn't work the first time. I always have to connect once, remove it and plug it in again.

In addition, if I try to boot the system with my Time Machine/external USB HD drive, it won't start at all. Only if I reboot without all the devices connected it boot successfully.

My questions are: is it a software or a hardware problem? And someone saw this before? I think it's a hardware problem, although the last notes of patch involve the last update of OS may have addressed a similar issue with audio devices. (This would affect my Logitech USB headset no doubt, but it did not help). If it is a hardware problem that requires a fix of the motherboard, I can't do it, since the new it's a working machine that I can't part with for a long period of time, unless SHE is willing to trade me a machine on-site. It does not affect other most operation every day except that I need to plug devices twice, all the time.

    Thank you, everyone.

Just did a transfer from MAC to MAC using Thunderbolt cable - everything is good!  Then, I wanted to make sure that the new Mac can access Time Machine backup file on the network file server.

Old MAC - running El Capitan 10.11.3 - TM full backup to the network Central of Seagate drive is successful.

New Mounting successful MAC - running El Capitan 10.11.4 - Time machine disk Seagate file

. Name of the new Mac is slightly different because of the collision of network host names

Various attempts to select the reader appear to succeed but the backup information (Date of last backup) are not displayed.

Entering Time Machine will display the finders stacked, but it will timeout to 30 seconds, saying: he cannot connect to the backup file.

  • Time Machine backup to external drive connected to the TimeCapsule

I have a 3 TB TimeCapsule, that contains the my iMac TimeMachine backup. So far so good.

Now, I would like to connect an external drive to the TimeCapsule via the USB port to allow access to this drive of my iMac as well as other computers on my network. I would like to than the external to include in my Time Machine backup drive. Is it possible - by accepting that the backup of obviously only runs when the Mac is on? If this isn't the case, other methods of backup to an external drive, connected to the TimeCapsule, may be recommended?

You can do it. Time Machine it will support up to a separate folder on your backup disk. Don't forget to remove it from the exclusions list in Time Machine preferences. I don't know if others cannot see the drive connected to your computer is turned off. They may be able to mount the drive on their computer as you do on yours. Try it because I could be wrong on this matter.

Hi, I recently "lost" my MacBook Pro because of water damage.  Fortunately, I've been using time Machine\Capsule and I have a MacBook Pro that is connected to the same network/device.  I need to restore a few files in the backup TM of the computer 'lost' on computer 'work '.  I was able to 'Browse' the other TM backup (click the icon TM plus the button 'Alt').  The Web browsing is extremely slow (took about an hour to break down / find the file on the network).  However, I tried to copy the file and I get errors of the alias.   Please advise me on what I am doing wrong.

  • Time Machine won't see drive connected to Airport Extreme

I have a MacBook Pro 2009 (5,5), El Capitan running. I just replaced the HD with an SSD. The OWC kit, I bought came with a USB for my old HD box. I want to use this drive as my Time Machine as my old drive to WD firewire crapped out. The old MBP disk is inside OS X extended (journaled) formatting and goes up as a network drive in my finder when it is connected to my Airport Extreme. Time Machine won't see unless it is connected directly to the USB port on the MPB.

The first thought that comes to mind here is to make sure that you have the latest version of 'tour' of the AirPort Extreme, which officially supports Time Machine backups on a drive to the USB port of the device.

    Is this the case?

All the old 'flat' or 'square' of the AirPort Extreme versions don't support officially the backups Time Machine on a drive to the USB port on the device... even though we used to see messages from time to time users who claimed that it worked for them... at least for a while before he didn t.

  • Disk utility does not not what Time Machine backup connected / file Vault question?

    Hi all

    I'm on Mac OSX El Capitan 10.11.3 (15 d 21) on a Macbook Pro 8.2 (early 2011)

Previously, when File Vault was not activated I've been able to backup on my external drive for Time Machine (1 TB store Transcend jet) and the drive was visible when opening disk utility no problem...

Now since I have encrypted my first Macintosh HD using File Vault, my disk utility program will not load when my Time Machine (unencrypted) external backup disk is connected, and I can not back up by using the application Time Machine (the player is simply not visible).

When my external drive for Time Machine is not connected, my disk utility opens very well and I can see my Macintosh HD all external USB drives.

I tried to re-boot, I tried to disconnect all external devices, I tried to connect the Time Machine drive with two USB ports and I tried to open the first disk utility, and then connect the external drive for Time Machine without success.

Anyone else have experience with this problem or something similar? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much!

  • Can't the connection time machine to my airport extreme

Initially we have only got a PC and got the AirPort Extreme Wi - Fi.  We now have a Mac and I can get the WiFi to work with the extreme but I can't get the backup part to work.  I don't know if it's because we already have a network in place or not, but when I enter Time Machine my Time Capsule is not appear:

I need to create a new network?  I'm just very confused and would appreciate your help.

The names which assigns Apple can become confused. For example...

Time Machine is a Mac software that is used to back up data on the Mac on another hard drive.

A Time Capsule is material... specifically, it is a router wireless ( AirPort Extreme) that has a built in hard drive that can be used as a destination for the backup.

The AirPort Extreme is material... specifically, it's a wireless router only... but a hard drive can be added to a USB port on a new version of the AirPort Extreme to create a destination for the backups. If you do not have the new AirPort Extreme... (it has the shape of a tower)... you must have a separate USB hard drive connected to the AirPort Extreme, if you want to save the files on your Mac.

Thus, in order to go in the right direction at the beginning, should first confirm if you have an AirPort Extreme... who's a router only... or if you have a Time Capsule... who's an AirPort Extreme with a built-in hard drive.

On your Mac, open Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility

Hold down the option key when you double click on the image to your Apple device

The model you have will be displayed

  • Using Time Machine with connection once a week

I would like to connect an external drive once a week, have Time Machine make an incremental backup and store the drive off-site. Would this work?

This will work... assuming that you perform a full backup of the Mac on the first pass, but you must be prepared for backups take significantly longer than normal because Time Machine will have to catch up on the value of one week of changes to your Mac whenever it backs up "gradually."

  • How to set up Time Machine via a HARD drive connected to the USB port on the router?

    Hi all

I have an Arris Touchstone Data Gateway DG1670A/TW for my internet / wireless which was provided by my ISP.  There is a USB port at the back of the router and I was wondering if I could connect an external HARD drive to save the two Macbook Pro that I have in my house through Time Machine wireless?  If Yes, could someone provide me the details regarding how to set this up properly?

I too, was thinking about making a 4 TB HARD drive - 2 and wanted to partition so that half of it would work for Time Machine and the other half I would be able to store photos that I take on my digital SLR and are in Lightroom.  Could this be a problem at all? I partition? or Time Machine just to use the available space and delete older backups to make room for additional photos?

Thanks in advance for any help.

A device third-party network attached storage (NAS) or a router is unsuitable for use with Time Machine.

Apple has published a specification for network devices that works with Time Machine. No third party provider, AFAIK, does meet this specification.

Apple does not endorse any device third-party network for use with Time Machine. See this support article.

Network backup, use as destination an Apple Time Capsule or an external storage device connected to another Mac or a 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only 802.11ac base stations support time Machine, not older model.

  • Time Capsule connected via Ethernet and put in place as an extension to my Airport Extreme Base Station wireless.  'Disc' Time Machine use?

If my Time Capsule is connected by ethernet to my Mac, Time Machine uses this connection or the wireless connection?

It depends on the order of connection of your Mac. If your Mac has been defined first connect using Ethernet if an Ethernet connection is present, then the Mac will save over Ethernet, even if the WiFi is enabled on the Mac.

However, if your Mac has WiFi to connect first and WiFi is on... then the Mac connects using WiFi, even if an Ethernet connection exists.

To see the binding command or service so that your Mac is using...

Open the preferences system (gear on the dock icon)

    Open network

Click on the gear at the bottom of the list of connection icon

    Click the Set Service command

If you want to make sure that your Mac will always connect to Ethernet first, even if WiFi is turned on... then you want to make sure that Ethernet appears at the top of the service order.  If this isn't the case, drag it to the top. Click OK, and then click apply at the bottom right of the window.

Another simple method to ensure that the backups will be produce by Ethernet is simply disable WiFi on Mac and let up to that you unplug the Ethernet cable, date at which you would be back on WiFi
