Connection to Oracle, Microsoft SqlServer with unixODBC and TDSodbc
HelloI'm working on a requirement to connect from Oracle 11 g DB for Microsoft SQL Server 2008. After serching for the options available on the web I found the follwing link
Connectivity ODBC - http://www.dbapool.com/Articles/06280701.html using UNIX ODBC and FreeTDS
I have configured everying as stated in the article, but I'm stuck to test the connection.
After a few days work, I am able to do successful isql connection but my earpiece and tns behave odd.
I configured and started the listener called mstest but when I started it says it does not support all served
Here's my listener.ora
MSTEST =

(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=xxxxx.xxx.xxxx.com) (PORT = 1523))
)

(SID_NAME = mstest)
(PROGRAM = dg4odbc)-> I changed to dg4odbc hsodbc program since in the 11.2.0.2
)
)
Summary of endpoints listening...
(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp)(HOST=xxxx.xxx.xxx.com) (PORT = 1523)))
The listener supports no services
The command completed successfully
any help is very appreciated.
Thank you

Steve,
The configuration files look all right, but can do you that there is at least a space at the beginning of each line except the first in each case.
They lost when you paste in the thread, but please check.
You can also view the listener log to see if this gives errors or messages about why he has no services?
Kind regards

How to connect to Oracle 12 c with SQLPLUS 6i
Hi people:
I have people who still need to use the client of 6i SQLPlus. They were able to connect to our previous database (11g R2) ok. People who use more recent versions of SQLPlus can connect ok to the Oracle 12 c database that we use.
Does anyone know what setting (and how) I want to change the database Oracle 12 c to allow access to an earlier version of SQLPlus?
Thank you
Matthew
I have people who still need to use the client of 6i SQLPlus.
6i is not the version of the Client, but the forms & reports one, the version of the Client is 8.0.6, too old to be used with the database of 12 c.
See MOS Client / Server interoperability Support Matrix for Oracle Versions (Doc ID 207303.1)
BTW, I tried with a client 9i, and I've got ORA-28040: no authentication protocol matching error, as mentioned in the document and 8.0.6 is even two older versions.

11.1.1.4 JDeveloper do not connect to Oracle Database 10g with heavy customer
Hello
I was using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3 which connect Oracle Database 10 g with Driver oci8 dependencies instantclient-basic-win32 - 11.1.0.7.0.
Currently, I have improved toJDeveloper 11.1.1.4 and now her send me the connection failed with the Driver oci8 instantclient-basic-win32 - 11.1.0.7.0 and instantclient-basic-win32 - 11.2.0.1.0.
Test message failed: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CConnection.getLibraryVersionNumber () I
Please help how I can solve it.
Kind regards
ShakurFirst of all, to avoid the UnsatisfiedLinkError you must make sure that the path to the shared library (.dll/.so) is included in your PATH environment variable.
Secondly, no it does not change the JDev behavior.

How you connect to a Microsoft Web with Acrobat Mac sharing?
When connecting to a Web with a MAC sharing, acrobat does not credential and displays 'permission is required for this network service.
How do you get acrobat for entry of credentials? It works from a windows box.
We've thought of it. It is necessary to connect via safari first, remember Keychain, the value, and then you can connect via acrobat.

Suite of Oracle e-Business with OAM and IWA
Hello
We are about to implement a sso project to the following prescriptions.
When users try to access the E-Business Suite, their windows logon is automatically recognized by OAM and they are authenticated by ad of them on target AD systems accounts.
We plan to design as follows.
1. users to connect on their machines and access to the eBusiness suite, you will be provided to link.
2. this link redirects users to an IIS server that is on a separate machine that E-Business suite. WebGate and IWA is installed on the IIS server that allows to recognize the windows of the user connection and authenticates the user through OAM.
3. after a successful authentication accesses the request without entering passwords.
The question is whether this application is possible without oSSO side eBusiness suite. And do we need IIS to work as a proxy reverse to the way multi redirect? I couldn't exactly find a best practice for this scenario.
Any help will be appreciated a lot!
Thank you
ECEI don't see how you would be able to integrate OAM with EBS, unless you have the oSSO (assuming of course that you are not on the bleeding edge, by 975182.1).
We run the same configuration and installation in politics OAM redirects. We plant the roots of specific context for each application, then use the OAM strategy to redirect. (for example, http://iwa-server/ebs redirects to https://ebs-server)
Rule single authorisation for each redirection, then a unique 'policy' in the 'Stratégies' tab for each redirection. Each strategy corresponds to the respective authorization rule.

Performance problems on Oracle 11 G with Windows 2008 64 bit.
Hello world
I noticed that our database is going bad and low every week. My server has 16 GB of RAM and 10 GB are dedicated to the database Oracle, it is a 11.2.0.1 with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 64 bit. I would like to know according to the values of the movement following you guys recommend to adjust in the init.ora:
ORCL.__db_cache_size = 5402263552
ORCL.__java_pool_size = 33554432
ORCL.__large_pool_size = 33554432
ORCL.__pga_aggregate_target = 3657433088
ORCL.__sga_target = 6878658560
ORCL.__shared_io_pool_size = 0
ORCL.__shared_pool_size = 1308622848
ORCL.__streams_pool_size = 33554432
* .memory_target = 10511974400
* .open_cursors = 5000
* .optimizer_mode = "RULE".
* runoff = 300
According to the target memory on how values can be increased the process, pga_agregate_target, etc.
We also have problems with the bug Bug 9593134 "connection to Oracle 11 g are slow and can take anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes." there is a difficulty on linux by removing dns names on this subject, but someone has experience on windows platforms?
Thanks to all and sorry for my English.
Kind regards.
Arturo.Concerning the long connection times, have you tried to use the network (such as Wireshark) packet capture software to determine that the client computer when a connection attempt is initiated?
The Oracle database time can help the model statistics and wait events extensive system you diagnose performance problems related to poor (you should not only look at the statistics, but rather capture the current values, wait a while, statistics capture again and compare the evolution of the values of the statistics). A statspack report may also help - but a trace 10046 to level 8 or 12 is more appropriate if you are able to identify a few sessions that have performance problems.
I claim not just blindly changing the settings, even if I'm curious about:
* Why the session level setting OPEN_CURSORS is set to 5000 - you expect a single session to hold cursors open 5,000?
* Why do you use the obsolete RULE based optimizer?
* Why the MEMORY_TARGET parameter is used when the target SGA_TARGET and PGA_AGGREGATE are specified?Charles Hooper

Daniel,
The problem is that you are using the ODBC Postgres driver for the HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME parameter, but this must be an ODBC driver manager and not the driver ODBC Psotgres.
Go to the.Click the 'Download' and follow the instructions to download the 2.3.1 pilot and make libraries and programs.
Once this is done, then use the driver as parameter HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME Manager, for example-
HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME =/home/odbc64/unixODBC/2.3.1/lib/libodbc.so
Depending on where you install it.
Kind regards

I have looked up on the forums of Oracle errors and could not do any help anywhere.
Can someone kindly help where I'm wrong?
Thank you
RAM.
You have activated the gateway trace level 255 (HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 255) which includes also ODBC calls but there is no reference in your file odbc.ini to trace odbc library and it seems that the trace ODBC lib is not found in the ODBC driver manager lib directory.
Test without bridge tracing turned on (just remove the parameter HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 255).
In addition, I recommend to add to your gateway init file:
HS_FDS_FETCH_ROWS = 1 (as the iSeries ODBC is not supported in bulk pick)
and
HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2

Connection from Oracle to DB2 LUW and Asian data insertion/selection.
Hello
I have configured the connectivity between Oracle and DB2 LUW, using DG40DBC but my requirement is to see the characters Asian (Chinese, Japanese, etc). Then, when I select the data through DB DB2 link I get of the question marks (?). We need to change the settings in the configuration files to support this language?
Any help is very appreciated!
Thank you
Steve.Isql instruction is not able to display characters unicode is partly justified. In my (Linux with LANG value UTF8) env it displays Chinese and Japanese characters.
You can also try to use the unicode equivalent to "isql" called "iusql. In addition, please provide the character set of your DB2 database.
Published by: kgronau on January 16, 2012 06:31
Also DG4ODBC displays correctly using your ODBC from above and these DG4ODBC settings:
HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME =/home/odbc64/unixODBC/2.3/lib/libodbc.so
HS_NLS_NCHAR = UCS2
HS_LANGUAGE = AMERICAN_AMERICA. AL32UTF8For a DB2 database using this character set parameter:
Database code page = 1208
Database of codeset = UTF - 8 -

Your router provides firewall protection, so the need is not the same
as if you had no a router. There are some who say you need to no.
all firewall software.But my opinion is that you would be a lot safer if you have run a
router software, and since there is little reason not to, I
recommend that you do.Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP
I agree.
@OP Windows XP (SP2 and above), Vista, 7 and 8 all have active firewall software by default.
There is no need of any 3rd party firewall.
Some users like running programs such as ZoneAlarm because it warns him from the processes that use the network, and then there is the possibility to deny/allow it on the spot, or deny/allow forever. There may be slight discomfort in the installation, but once it's for all your programs, and then it really can work in silent mode.
Microsoft Firewall simply leave everything default, but they can be configured manually to block anything outgoing or incoming.

Microsoft Office Access Runtime and Data Connectivity 2007 Service Pak 2 will not update
Today, I upgraded my Vista Ultimate Edition of Windows 7 Ultimate and checking the updates it listed 10 important updates. I went back in and there was still the major update 1 "Microsoft Office Access Runtime and Data Connectivity 2007 Service Pak 2 (SP2) who refuses to update which results in an error. I tried several times with the same error that results. Any suggestions as to why?
The update could not update with no error code, just says 'update failed." However after that restart and check the view of the update the update again must have occurred because it is no longer returns in search of updates. Thanks for responding to my problem
