Connections SCB 68

Dear Sir

I use NI PCI 6281 as well as the SCB-68. I want to collect data from a sensor that has a BNC connector. My SCB-68 has no BNC ports and I can connect only wires. What should I do? If I remove the BNC of the sensor wire Plug and connect the leads to naked to the SCB-68 sensor while it will be OK? or it will be the effect on the measurement?

Kind regards

Urfee

You can get a little more noise through the connection block than you would if you had a direct BNC connection on data acquisition.  But it shouldn't be enough to matter.  I just cut the end out of the BNC cable to connect the signal and ground in the terminal block.

But if you are really worried about it OR there some DAQ cards with BNC connection.  I haven't looked in a while, but they tend to be on the high end.

    Dear nor Forum,.

I have a chassis NI SMU-1078, with embended OR PXIe8135 controller. One of the slot is busy with a PXI-6225. I for a long time successfully using 1 connection SCB-68 block a with the PXI-6225. Now, I need another channel to analog output on top of OD uses two that I am current. I plugged another SCB-68 connector Panel at the PXI6225, but I could not see analog outputs on this second bedroom. I could not see more channels to DAQmx AO create channel VI

The PXI-6225 has only 2 analog outputs.  The second connector only has analog inputs.

If you need more than output analog, you can take a look at the SMU-6738, which includes 32 analog outputs.

  • How do you install resistances for channels 8-31 voltage divider in scb - 68?

I use an analog output card, NI 6723 and I need to ease the tensions between the connector of channel 8-31.  Is it possible to install to these channels voltage divider resistors in a block of connection scb-68?  The manual I have shows, it is possible, but it doesn't seem to be enough positions in the box for 24 pairs of resistors.

I found a newer version of the online manual.  It seems that 2 channels AO can be conditioned in this way.  Thank you.

  • readings of Veristand instruments with a remote system

I'm new to the National Instruments and Veristand material and I'm trying to use an instrument with Veristand to see if I can get readings of this instrument. I use a PC with Windows Vista and I am connected via a network to a PXI-8108 controller in a PXI-1050 chasiss chassis. The instrument is just a thermocouple which I use to become familiar with everything. The thermocouple is connected and the connection SCB-68 block which is connected to a PXI-6221 multifunction data acquisition in the chassis. I am able to create a task in MAX under remote system and everything seems to work. What I want to do is to get the readings in Veristand, and I don't know if I need to create a custom device that is related to the acquisition of data somehow, or if there is another way to do it. I created the DAQ hardware in the system Explorer, but I see no way to link the real DAQ hardware on the remote system. I wonder if anyone can help with this.

    All advice is appreciated.

    Thank you

You can read the value of your thermocouple directly from VeriStand channel, but the process is different than using MAX.

In the system Explorer, add your DAQ hardware that is wired to your SCB-68. Make sure that you specify the same name (i.e. ' Dev1'), which is the make up something, you also that you have imported the peripheral canal which hangs to the thermocouple (i.e. "ai0"). There is no way in System Explorer to specify that this channel should be scaling of thermocouple. VeriStand initially served this string value value brute power. However, you can set the limit high and low for this channel to something small as +/-1V, since thermocouples have very small readings.

You add the balance to your system separately after the deployment of the system definition, you have created the target of RT. For this to connect to the target using the workspace and select the tool to the workspace on the Tools menu called channel scaling and Calibration Manager.

In this dialog box, you will see your TV listed DAQ. Navigate in the dialog box assign an appropriate scale of thermocouple to your channel. Once this is done, the target will remember the scale for this channel until what crush you.

I would like to know how it goes...

  • PCIe-6320 sees no encoder

I'm putting in place the PCIe-6320 with two rotary encoders for measuring position.

I wired to the top of my encoder (double quadrature with A, B, Z, V + and Gnd son) to my DAQ PCIe-6320 through a block of connection SCB-68. I used the source of external power supply for the encoder so all I am connected, it was channels A, B and Z I checked my wiring. Counter 0 uses 37, 45 and 3 pins.

When I connect it, there are a few problems: measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), I go to the counter function test and it does not register. Using a multimeter, when the encoder is not connected I get some sort of output of three strings. But once I connect it to data acquisition, I get nothing.

The works of automatic test in the MAX software and calibration seems to go successfully.

What could be the problem here? Is it possible that data acquisition is broken, even if it passes the self test?

I think I know what is happening. The outputs are open collector, then you may need to pull up resistors. See page 9 (page 7 in characters) in the pdf file:

    http://www.ctiautomation.NET/PDF/ACCU-coder/ACCU-coder-installation-wiring-Guide.PDF

Since you are using an external power supply, instead of the end of the resistance of your + VCC (6 volts in your case) you will need to connect it to the output + 5 which is probably available on your data acquisition card. This will ensure that the output does not exceed levels TTL (5V). You then bind the town or the mass of your power of 6V to digital DRM to your data acquisition card.

DAQmx are pilots and vi for the material. If you have MAX, you can check presence and version of data acquisition in the software listing in MAX.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to configure a lab overlooking tubular heat exchanger to get data

    HiI

In our undergraduate engineering chemical labboratory we want to configure our DAq with lab VIEW tubular heat exchanger to get information on the temperature (flow cold fluid warms up), (the steam pressure on the side of the hull of the heat exchanger) and flow (water warms up).

Can anyone suggest thermocouples, pressure transducers, and flow meters to stay between the heat exchanger and the acquisition of data?

P.S. the heat exchanger is already equipped with a pressure gauge, thermometers and a rotameter, but we do not know how to connect these devices to data acquisition

Looks like you have enough information to choose appropriate sensors, you just need to do the research. I start looking into Omega catalogue, or give them a call - they are generally useful. I can't take the time to spec parts for you - it would be a lot of time on another project. Most pressure sensors put a signal 4-20mA or 0 - 5V, that is which you can read through an analog input on a data acquisition; measure a 4-20mA signal requires a resistance to convert voltage. Most NI DAQ boards can read a thermocouple on an analog input, but make sure that your hardware is supported reading thermocouples. For an accurate reading, use a device that has the compensation of cold welding integrated - for example, the block connection SCB-68 - and for more accurate measurements, get a Board specifically designed to measure the temperature.

For measurement of the flow, a standard, simple solution is an orifice plate. You put a transducer for differential pressure across it, seek the appropriate equations and use them to calculate the flow rate given the density of the fluid (which you will be able to calculate from the pressure and the temperature, since the steam tables are widely available). Other differential pressure devices are available as well - at a previous job, we used a double cone of McCrometer. If you call them, they spec for you - but get an approximate cost first to make sure it's in your budget.

  • 24V switch signal detection

    Hi all

I have a PXI-1052 chassis with (among others) the following modules:

    PXI-6289 with a block of connection SCB-68.

    -Switch SCXI-1161 module.

    What do I want?

I want to be able to spend the solenoid valves that operate on the 24 VDC.

With the SCXI-1161 module, I can move this solenoid but I want more!

I also want to detect if the solenoid really works (if there is a loop of 24 VDC or not).

My intention was to use the PXI-6289 with SCB-68 (or SCB-100) to detect this signal.

    The problem.

I have the switching market part but I can't get work in loop control.

I'm testing with a 5V-10mA signal to see if I can get the job of 6289, but I don't seem to be able to create a stable signal.

The next step is whether the SCB-68 is able to manage 24Vdc.

    Solution?

    Yes please ;-)

    With sincere friendships.

    Jeroen Kluft

Okay it looks like a testbed for solenoids...

Here are a few patterns to drive a FET with a DO for your application, the first (left) looks good, IRF840 ago about 0.84 Ohm RDSon (most successful) and is good for the 5-8 a (cold!) and can go up to 500 v (DC) (how do you turn it off voltage surge?)  RC - Snubber or free running diode?) The FET has already a diode of implementation.

What measure? voltage current and supply to solenoid?  Accuracy required?

Analyze the current solenoid to reduce blood lights?   (you can detect the variation of the magnetic flux in the current flow to detect a non-acting solenoid (due to undervoltage)

And there are also SSRs (solid status relay) with galvanic, capable barrier for AC and DC, as well as some current LEM (also with galvanic isolation) sensors and industrial 'standard signal tranformers' (also with galvanic isolation), you can build a robust test bench, all controlled by your 6289...   for the 230VAC

  • How to generate two different analog signals in two different screws

I use a card PCIe-6321 and a block of connection SCB-68. As it has two analog outputs, I use one of these outputs in a Vi to generate a square wave, and the other in an another VI to generate a sinusoidal output waveform. Each VI perfectly work separately, but if I run one then the other, the other sends no signal. Because I don't want to merge the two screws (it is more convenient to use them separately), how can I find out so that they work together (sometimes).

Of course, independent maps with timing motors, controlled by the works of independent screws.

  • Temperature measurement and the CJC using thermocouples on a USB - 6229 BNC

    Hello

I'm trying to get the measurements of temperature using type K thermocouples on the box nor usb-6229 BNC. SignalExpress software doesn't let me choose 'Built In' to the Source of the CJC. So, I must select 'Constant', which means that I then have to follow the evolution of the temperature during the day with a separate meter and adjust the value of CJC accordingly to maintain an accurate reading. Is there a way around that to avoid having to monitor the room temperature at the junction?

    Thanks in advance

    Mike

    Hi Mike,.

It seems that you have managed to find a solution for you have this problem, which is great news.

However, for future use, if you had bought the 6229 with massive ending (rather than the interface BNC) then you might have interfaced unit with a block of connection SCB-68 (see link)

    http://sine.NI.com/NIPs/CDs/view/p/lang/en/NID/1180

The SCB-68 has a CYC source built-in, so you might have used in conjunction with 6229 (mass layoffs).

A bit of in the way, but I thought you may be interested.

    Best wishes to you all

    Thank you

    Hi all

Ben is correct.  RDA is no longer supported in DAQmx.  We have another way to use DAQmx with a remote system.  It is use DAQmx with an OPC server or simply by shared network variables.  There is a section of the base of knowledge here that should help you get started.  You should also take a look at the developer section area here.  The basic idea is that you can use a variable shared within labVIEW that is bound to a variable shared on your networked machine.  In this way, you can write and read values from a task DAQmx.  Look at the instructions in the above two items and let me know if you have any questions.

  • Thermocouple reading (w / Source built-in CJC) only works on the random strings of CBS

I'm using LabVIEW 8.2.1, a card PCI-6255 and a block of connection SCB-68. I have a Type K thermocouple with a calibrator thermocouple which I'm trying to measure. It is the problem, first, using the attached VI, I tried to read this TC with AI0. Whenever I have use AI0 I get error saying THAT integrated CSF is not available. When I use another channel, this error disappears. The second problem, when I use a different channel than the AI0, I am only able to read Treasury on random channels correctly. For example, it works on AI13 to AI15. For channels that does NOT work, I am able to see the correct voltage thanks to MAX, but DID read TC VI not for any reason any gives an accurate reading.

Nobody knows why, I wouldn't be able to use AI0, and why I only use certain channels for this TC? This is absolutely insane and I tried swapping the CBS, the map of the DAC and cables. I also reinstalled drivers and LabVIEW.

Please help this is driving me crazy!

  • Find the time to intersampling between two channels AI USB 6251

    Hello

I want to know how late it is between two-channel sampling of HAVE in a USB-6251 (term mass) used in conjunction with a block of connection SCB - 68 (Labview 8.5, Windows XP).  I realize that there's only an ADC and simultaneous acquisition is not available.  The specs are listed as follows:

    Sampling frequency:

    Maximum: 1.25 MECH. / s single channel;  1,00 multi-channel MECH. / s (aggregate)

    Minimum configuration: no minimum

Timing accuracy: 50 ppm of sampling frequency

    Temporal resolution: 50 ns

We know of a way to understand this point other than by experimentation?

  • How to connect signals Ni SCB - 264 X

We bought PXI switch 2532 with TB-2641. We also have
bought burst of SCB-264 X. I have a question about the signal
connections. SCB-264 X is supplied with only the connections of signals (C0, C1
etc). But what of the ground for each signal. How to connect the
    mass of each signal signal.

    Thank you

    Kitenge

    Hi Kitenge,

    The connection TB-2641 block creates a configuration of matrix 8 x 64 1-wire for the NI PXI-2532.

1 - wire configurations are typically used for single-ended signals: when he shared there or return a common ground.  In these configurations, the constant signal line is usually wired externally (not changed).

If a part of your application requires switching differential signals (2-wire), you can use an additional column for tracking on the ground of each signal.  Similarly, additional lines are required.

If all your application passes only signals from 2 threads, then the TB-2643 or TB-2644 may be more appropriate than the TB-2641.

    The connection TB-2643 block creates a matrix 4 x 64 2 wires.

    The connection TB-2644 block creates a 8 x 32 2-wire matrix.

    I hope this helps!

  • connection PCI-6035E and SCB - 68 and controls a laser to turn

I connected the SCB-68 with a 15 pin cable and connected to a laser. Computer, I plugged PCI-6035E Council to the SCB-68 to control a Laser to turn on and off in a LabVIEW program. I have connected PIN # 6, 7, 14 of SCB - 68-connector cable 15 pin and I plugged the card PCI-6035E to SCB - 68. My program does not turn on the laser.

    Try:

    1. check the cable connections tight of the cable to the DAQ and SCB-68 card.

    2. If I remember correctly, there are switches in the CBS-86 case that has implemented the configuration based on your data acquisition card and your needs. Make sure they are set correctly.

    3. If you have a meter, check that your DAQ card is out the voltage at the terminals of the SCB-68.

    4. position the vi that you use.

I went through the guides provided, but I have a few questions.

    (1) how exactly work the switches?

    (2) what is the need to provide + 5v to the part of conditioning of signals? (As for signal conditoning, we use some resistors and capacitors)

    (3) where do we always connect us our signal? It is always the terminals screw or is it depends on the requirement of signal conditioning?

    (4) if we use a conditioning of signals, which are input terminals? And what con terminals signals reaching data acquisition?

    Hey,.

the Circuit diagram is shown to these PDF on page 82-83. (SCB-68 68-pin shielded connector manual user Block)

The sensor you want to use is never connect with the Terminal screw,

The switches have the following functions:
