Control of heat Strip

Hi all

I'm new to Labview (hardware and software) and I'm having some problems pertaining to what modules I need.  My goal is to be able to order a thermal Ribbon (voltage: 120 v, temp max 760 degrees Celsius) when the internal temperature of a ship reaches a specific temperature.  I understand that I'll have to get a thermocouple module to bring the temperature to the computer.  What is the best way to control the thermal tape (a source module?  a module as well as a relay module voltage?)

Thank you

Boox

  • Control of heating/cooling (Peltier) in DC (not PWM)

I am trying to set up a system to control heater / cooler Peltier element like this:

    +/-5V @ 1. 25A

With the help of current continuous (through a PID controller), not a PWM.

I am considering using CRIO or PXI platforms.

-The CRIO, I found the motion controller 9505, but I'm not sure I can drive to DC.

-On PXI system, I found this 4110 food, but it seems to be a (crazy) overkill solution for the problem.

I could even include a small amplifier in the output of an AO module, but I wanted to avoid adding external elements to my solution of NOR.

Can anyone advice me on the ebest way to do using CRIO?

I'm sorry for the confusion. What you need for a stand-alone cRIO-system:

    1 cRIO chassis

    2 cRIO controller

    3. analog or a NOR-9505

You can control the NI 9505 - by a PWM signal, you can't drive to a domain controller. If I look at your needs posted, I wouldn't use CompactRIO.

You can use the PXI system. Then you will have an industrial pc with again a output analog credits in combination with an amplifier. If you want a clean system, it will be possible to use the programmable power supply. With the PXI-4110, you have the possibility to combine channels for voltage/current higher (up to 2 MPa). A problem can be speed, please consult the manual if the speed is applicable:

If a system is not a problem, I will go for a compactDAQ, USB or PCI-solution.

  • Do the Satellite P850-30V fan to run more quickly or reduce heat accumulation?

So I've always had a lot of problems with this laptop of heating, and when maintenance of the fixed Bank nothing I assumed it was a feature, not a bug (so to speak). I often use it to play games, but while most of the games to automatically detect high graphics settings, I can't actually run these because of the massive accumulation of heat.

If I put the machine in power saving mode, use a cooling pad and transform the graphics for the smaller settings, I can usually run things (even if they are slow and ugly), so even if it was a discomfort I treated just with her.

However, when today I was installing an update of the BIOS, I noticed that the fan ran faster that I never saw before, that irritated me a bit because it runs more slowly even when the computer is about to overheat.

Since then it can clearly go fast that the problem is obviously not an accumulation of dust.
The only options for control of heat are those in power options, that are totally unnecessary. Is there something wrong with my computer, I'm missing something in terms of fan control or I was just a sucker for the purchase of this company in the first place?

    > The only options for control of heat are those in power options, that are totally unnecessary
Windows power options are not useless
Is that you can control the CPU as well as the method of cooling performance.

Here is a very detailed explanation of each option
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD12017W0001R01.htm

I recommend you to check the CPU power management area and change the State of the processor Maximum max 85%
Also the cooling method should be set to 'active '.

In any case, to avoid the high temperature of the GPU, you also use the Toshiba page graphics cards drivers because these drivers are modified and released for mobile use

  • control of hysteresis (bang bang) for thermostat in cDAQ

I would like to implement a closed-loop ON / OFF control with bang-bang control (hysteresis), as the ambient temperature. The loop could use NI9219 (cDAQ) unit to measure the temperature of the room feedback signal and use NI9401 (cDAQ) device such as a digital camera out of control (c). The output of control lights heater if the room is too cold (17 degrees) or OFF If the room is too hot (23 degrees). Hysteresis determines when the heating element turns on or STOP. For example, if the hysteresis is set to 5 and the temperature of 21 degrees, the unit starts at 17 degrees and OFF at 23 degrees.

  • guidance inertia temperature control

    Dear people,

I would ask for advice from experienced people in control theory.

Recently, I'm working on a very interesting device, it is called inertial guidance vacuum calorimeter (there is a type of isothermal calorimeter). I'm doing a new LabView program for this camera, and I try to increase its stability/accuracy as much as I can. This calorimeter can measure heat sample level micro-watt powers. The principle of measurement is the following (see attached diagram):

We want to measure the heat flowing from the outside door-sample, this is done via Peltier (thermoelectric sensor) sensor. To obtain valid data, temperature must be very precisely constant everywhere in the calorimeter (isothermal method). The inner parts of the calorimeter thermally protected against ambient temperature with blank shields and high radiation. Double room empty closed circulates water through a heat exchanger, the heat reservoir.

For thermal stability, there are 3 loops controlled:

1 control loop. : this controls using PID, (method of classic platinum resistance 4W) constant water temperature

2 control loop. : this is the first step to stabilize the temperature of the inner part, PID loop classic platinum resistance and drives a pump to Peltier heat between the support and the "base". This can achieve only a constancy of temperature around 0.1 mK.

3 control loop. : when the ultimate stability is reached with the control loop 2, it is off, and his conduct of the current production constant value. Now the loop3 begins, and that's the tricky part: there is a cylindrical copper heavy 'inertial mass' with high calorific value (much higher then the base) standing on the base. Because it has a high calorific, even temperature fluctuations very tiny in the performance of temperature-controlled database a measurable voltage in the thermoelectric sensor between inertial mass and the base. This value is measured by the meter nanovoltage (Keithley). So I use this value to control the heat under the base pumps.  In principle, if there is no heat flowing between inertial mass and the base, we are in thermal equilibrium.

With this concept, it is possible the stability of temperature range well below nanokelvins!

Recently, I play with the control settings, but only using simple PID controls (I have the PID toolkit). The method explained above is a kind of analogy of inertial guidance in mechanical control. I wonder if someone could give me advice or direction how I could further improve the stability of this control. Perhaps some more advanced control system? Feed-forward?

Thank you very much for the advice,

    Kind regards

If I follow correctly, the feedback control loop 3 is measured using the Keithley via GPIB.  And these readings take approximately 0.6 seconds. The control loop cannot work faster than the measurement system (unless you want a lot more unstable!).  Most high precision instruments offer a compromise between resolution and speed.  I took a look at the profile of 2182 and it seems you may have need of any resolution, so accelerate may not be an option.

The approach of bottle neck is probably a good with all that you have done so far.  It will help you to avoid putting too much time into something that won't make much improvement.

Another thought: how noisy/drifty are power supplies/amplifiers driving Peltier devices?  I worked on a system several years ago, where the objective was stability uK ~ 10 and noise and drift in the power circuits were the main limitations.  Most of the engineers designing such devices never think of parts per million or fractions.  Especially with the slow return of nanovoltmeter, drift or noise in the power circuts could be important.  Also look at how the constant output mode that the external loops are open loop constantly.

  • Derived from usage to control signal

I'm trying to control a heating element of the difference between the temperature set by the target user and (absolute) extreme temperature of (set by the user).  I considered stable for cases of first and second derivatives.  From the reading, I came across the idea of PID, but I can't view any work, specific samples to see even if it's where I want to go.  I'm in the planning stage, so I have only a minimal code.  My first step is "Admission temperature Signal" (currently simulated by a wave of sweet sin, just for a sim card).  Second, 'analyze Signal Temp'; Third, 'analyze Temp Derivative (s)'; Fourth, 'combine the signals' (sort of); and finally, "re - analyze (or confirm) Temp Signal."

    Thank you!

  • Aurora R4 and double Asus GTX 670: heating problem

    Nice day

This week, I added a second GTX 670 to my system.

All work fine in the majority of the game.  In heavy load, GPU1 temp can be up to 75 - 80 c and GPU2 until 89 - 91 c.  That's high, but still under the recommended 97 HP max temp  And I never experience any decline in performance.

(idle, both card stay under 40 c)

That said, in some games, like Batman: Arkham City, don't know why, but the GPU2 temp reached 96 C.  It is far too high.

The fact that the 2 cards are very close together and even affect themselves, is a problem.  Also, the map background is so close to the merits of the case (or the power supply I think).

Thus, in this area, a lot of heat.

You guys have ideas on how I could work it to control the heat?  Physically, I can't move cards.

I already changed the profile of fan with the Tweak of Asus utility.  That helped a lot.  More noise, but it doesn't matter.

I'm sure that remove the protective heat and side panel (the door that closes on the GPU) should help, but I don't want that :(

Should I install a cooling of the water? (I'm not familiar with this, and I believe that it can be quite expensive).

    Any thought on this?

I'll post some pictures of the installation tonight (its actually 8h50am here, I'm at work)

It is a problem on this little mATX cases. This is why I suggest that people go to a single card solution. These after-market maps are meant to draw in the air on their front edge and evacuate on their rear edge?

Be sure to bring in enough fresh air to the front case fan PCIe (I use the curve).

Yes, try to remove the hinged lid.

Last resort... Add an another exhaust fan to pull hot air away from cards. If you can get that hot air inside top, it should mix or stand on.

  • Basic question on the monitoring of the slopes

WARNING: I am a logic pro x newbie.

I've set up an audio track:

No matter if the route of entry of surveillance is on or if it is enabled, the sound does not come out when the device is 'play' (i.e. I pressed the play button).

I would like to sound out so that I can practice parts and hear against the main device.  (If I press file rather than play, his fate against the main arrangement.)

I would also like to be able to record a track while another track is simply monitored. I use this during the recording of the complex vocal parts. I like to play the game with a hand on the piano while singing.

I understand there are solutions by always using the button 'record' and then removing the tracks. But this seems like a simple enough features that I think that it is probably a better way.

    Thank you

    Monitoring of entry

If you have an active Audio track only the follow-up entry button and not the record enable button, then you should hear the o of that Channel input Strip regardless you are in play or record Mode.

If you have the record enable button, then the behavior depends on the key 'Auto input Monitoring '. If active (recording ➤ Auto monitoring of entry), then the entry is muted during the recording Mode.

    Play with keyboard

About reading as well as MIDI, while recording audio, you're right, you need to create a workaround and because it is not possible "out of the box.  To play your MIDI keyboard, you must select a software Instrument track. If you have active recording an Audio track for recording, then this software Instrument track is also recorded in the recording Mode.

    Installation program:

Here's a pretty simple tip to have a dedicated software tool Track/Channel Strip which is always "playable (it requires a bit of knowledge of the environment):

    • In the environment, go to the layer 'click & Port '.
    • Create software Instrument Channel Strip and assign it to 255 Inst.
    • Load a Plugin Instrument (i.e. piano) on this channel strip
    • Drag an extra cable from the existing output of the object of "Entry Notes" to that Channel Strip object
    • (Optional) You can create a button object to control the Mute button of this channel strip. You can put this button on a separate layer of environment, make it a floating window and place convenient anywhere on your screen. You can even assign a button on your external MIDI keyboard to control this button so that you can play it "along keyboard' on and outside.

    What you have done:

    • Any incoming MIDI signal is now sent "parallel" to this software Instrument Channel Strip (255).
    • If you have created a track for this channel strip, you can have displayed it in the mixer (or you select the button display the mixer 'All')
    • When you play your external MIDI keyboard, it will be routed to the Channel Strip and you can set the controls on that strip of Chanel
    • Whenever you need to hear this channel strip, just mute it.
    • Your external MIDI keyboard will still be routed to any selected track in the track area and its MIDI signals can be recorded as usual.

    Hi Carmel

First of all the graphics card is a small chip that attaches to the motherboard.
The graphics card has no own cooling system. Only the CPU has a cooling fan.

Toshiba recommends to use the graphic driver Toshiba because the drivers are changed and support an overheating protection. In this case the graphics driver controls the heat produced by the graphics card.
In this case, it s undesirable to overclock the graphics card. If you want to overclock something so do it at your own RISK

  • HP CoolSense missing - please help

    Hello

    I'm running a DV6 - 6156EA laptop computer with Windows 7 64 bit operating system.

A few months ago, I had problems with HP Support Assistant does not work after it was updated.  David PK tried to help me a lot to solve the problem.  However it just wouldn't work, we decided to continue to work with the old version.  It worked well.

I saw there is another update on a so decided to give it a try.  I updated and it worked very well, bingo, I thought sorted.

Then I noticed that my laptop was getting hot and the fans were constantly go, so I went to check HP Coolsense to see what was going on.  To my horror, he was gone, gone, gone.  I spent a good few hours trying in vain to download it and get running but no luck.

Out of desperation I decided to uninstall support assistant and re install the old version again once, I did it and Coolsense was back.  My laptop is back to how it was, fans worked very well and controlled the heat and everything was back to normal.  Then Assistant to support updated itself again and Coolsense went again.  Now the laptop heats up again and fans will inflamed.

Is there a way to get Coolsense back working on my laptop with this latest version of the installed Support Assistant?  Or am I faced with going back to the old Support Assistant and stop update to continue working Coolsense?

Apart from the noise I can't do with laptop computer how hot gets without Coolsense and I not want to go back.

    Help, please...

    Hello
I'm sure after all this time you have solved the problem! But for everyone out there, here is the solution that worked for me.
First, uninstall HP Support Assistant on your computer.
Then, in the start menu, type in Recovery Manager - this will allow you to open the HP Recovery Manager.
    Open the Drivers section.
This will give you a list - click on HP Support Manager and install.
It should then install the version of the Manager of support, which includes CoolSense.
Hope this works for you also.

  • Satellite P100-240 only works with ACPI disabled

    Hello

    I recently bought a second hand P100-240.
For a day, it worked very well, and I tested it with sisoft sandra, 3dmark, many games etc.
All played well, and it was not overheating and really powerful.

Then a day later, he just got started while I was using it. On reboot, it will reach point just sign into windows XP Media Center edition and then cut. Even in safe mode, exaclty the same thing would happen.
I left it for a few hours, in which case it was overheated, but the same thing happened when I retested.

I tried the live cd Knoppix, and initially it would turn off at halfway by starting.
Then I tried to run the Knoppix with a "acpi = off" option and it starts very well!.

Also, I have tried many BACK start-up based utils and these well everything worked.
I tested the disk, the cpu (stress and burn in tests), memory (memtest). All tools ran fine and all tested ok (and the machine does not idle)

I tried to install a copy of windows XP alongside XP MCE, but that on the installation screen lists the existing partitions, and the machine would just power off.

So try the Knoppix ACPI thing, I tried to install Windows XP without ACPI (i.e. a STANDARD pc), and he got through the fine installation. Now, I have a fully functional laptop again and can play all the games etc like before. Everything I have disappeared are ACPI some associates of power options.

Now, what I want to know, is this ACPI issue a collateral or the related issue of the BIOS?

Im running 4.40 BIOS, which is the latest BIOS for the p100-240 (PSPA3E).

Is there a previous BIOS, which is perhaps more stable and will work around this ACPI problem? But the confusion is how all it worked well for a day and a half at the start?

    Any thoughts would be helpful.

    Hello

In my opinion, the laptop is closed due to a higher internal temperature!
The point is that the laptop supports protection against overheating and sensors (ACPI Advanced Configuration and Power Management Interface) who would yell at the bottom of the unit automatically to prevent damage.

You said that this happens all by playing a few games. This heavy application leads to higher heat dissipation and therefore the temperature rises.
I think that you should first check your cooling modules if they are not clogged with dust and debris. A compressed air jet pourrait helps get rid of the dust.

Second, you must use the graphics drivers from Toshiba because such driver was designed for the use of the laptop and controls the heat dissipation the GPU too.

  • Why an asynchronous call would lead to "the VI is not executable. The full development version... »

I built a labview moderately complex program to connect with a new parser that I build.  To briefly describe the application, the main VI is a user interface which, in an initialization step, asynchronously calls a dozen other screws each called VI is a state machine that handles communication with a component specific for my parser, whether heat controllers, regulators debit, NI DAQmx channels, a SQL database, etc..  I use the VFG and/or EI to communicate information between the main VI and each component. The system works well when it passes through NI Labview 2012 SP1 (full development Version).  I build the project successfully, but when I run the construction (on the same development machine), I encounter the "the VI is not executable.  The full development of LabVIEW version is needed to correct errors"message.

My first troubleshooting step that was supposed to isolate the problem.  I removed all the asynchronous calls, rebuilt and the program works without errors (granted, no State machines that handle I/O bundles are running). This gave me the impression that my UI screws are not the problem.

The next step that I took was to create a test project with a simplified user interface to call asynchronously, and control a single component.  The first part, I tried to control a heating unit, and it works perfectly.  I have build it and run without errors or problems.

Thinking that the component should not be a problem, I add the async call for this component in my main VI, to test it.  This works well in the built environment of Labview development, without errors, but alas, I get the same message as the "VI is not executable' when I try to run the build.

I am at a loss on how to make trouble, or it could be the cause of the problem.  Why an asynchronous call to the VI even break the construction of an executable project, but don't cause problems in an executable of side projects?

  • Instrument interfacing in Labview

    Hello

I would like a Luxtron m600 optical fiber probe so that I can use it to receive entries analog signals to control the heating of the samples of the interface.

My obstacle becomes the sensor FOT to contact my office. In MAX, I tried to configure the NI PCI-6229 I use under "Devices and Interfaces" with the probe attached to the block connector with wire bare but couldn't create the task. My understanding is the sensor FOT being a third-party tool, I also need to connect it to one of the serial ports on the computer by using a VISA interactive control. In addition, I also need to download the driver specific to the probe.

I downloaded the mentioned software and managed to obtain data on the temperature of the sensor with the driver. But my goal is to integrate these data at a higher level VI which will use the PID toolkit. Before, I used a USB DAQ Mbps key and had to use the explicit input function DAQ helps acquire signals. But for this application I use assistant DAQ and the Assistant of the Instrument, or is it a different thought process that will allow me to interface with the PCI-6229 FOT sensor lead? I've only been using Labview for a few weeks to get the detailed procedure would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and patience.

I have attached the driver I downloaded for reference.

If you are unsure how to add devices to the connector pane in LabVIEW, you really start the tutorial from LabVIEW. Very basic task which should not take more than 60 seconds.

Throw the instrument if you want to instead use the DAQ card to read the sensor. Makes no difference to me. Always plug your DAQ card for what will be the heating element. Your reading of the temperature is only half of the installation. Since you already have this part done with driver, I don't quite understand why you focus not on the part of output control.
