  Oracle protects you. Please review ARCHIVELOG and NOARCHIVELOG mode.

  When you take the database offline in NOARCHIVELOG mode:

  (1) the file is offline

  (2) the RCS in which you took the database offline will be is more to be in the online redo logs

  (3) at this point, you need to perform a media recovery to enable again the file online (ie. restore the database)

  So you can see why you shouldn't do that.

  The DROP Offline command does not actually remove the data file. It removes the control file file details and updates the offline data file. It can be used for purposes of recovery or when you actually plan on deleting data files.

  Control of the database was working fine and the DB was working fine.
  
  I had to change IP address of the server and the name of the server.
  
  Now, when I click on the control of the database it fails. (the page will not open)
  
  Are there files in the database that I need to change?

  We have about 50 databases we manage. These databases have some alerts that send emails if storage space is less than 80 percent threashold levels.
  
  However, we have no alert if the database is down or if the earpiece is down. Most of the databases is on sun solaris or AIX running oracle 9i or oracle 10G.
  
  I'm going to the source code of scripts already in place. can someone direct me
  on how we can control if the database is in place and running and whether or not the given listener is running?

  I stopped the recovery based on standby and began copy (copy of the os) the existing files pending at the 2nd backup server. But I didn't keep the (mounted) existing standby database into begin backup mode. Is this right?

  I have Oracle 10 g installed on a Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition with Internet Explorer 9 and when I try a blank page directly from the server to open the database control appears with no information on it, so that the page never the page of connection to be able to enter my credentials and be able to manage my database.

  PL see the links above - 10.2.0.3 is not certified on Win 2008 - you must install the 10.2.0.4 patch - then things may or may not work as expected with 10.2.0.3.

  If it is a business-critical system, then it would be strongly advised to buy support. If it is for personal learning, install 11 GR 2 version of the database

  Don't have you set up your alerts in setup > methods of notification?

  (1) connection OEM as Sysman, go to--> methods of Notification settings and configure your server for outgoing (SMTP) mail and the test.
  2) go to--> General preferences, configure your e-mail addresses and test.
  3) go to target--> databases--> select one of the database
  (4) search for "metric and policy link settings ' and click on this link
  (5) close to the end of the Page you can see "space Tablespace used (%) "Metric.
  Default value for the warning is 85% and critical is 97%. You can change these valuse according to your needs.
  6) go to preferences--> rules
  (7) check the 'availability of the database and critical States' existing rules
  You can change this rule, or you can create like. Under 'Metrics' tab, find "Tablespace space used (%) "metric.
  Change this WOG and "States of gravity for which you want to receive a notification, select" as critical or warning.
  (8) under the label of "Methods", select this checkbox "send me a message. Then you will receive emails to email the sysman user identification.
  (9) prior to this step, you assume to have valid annex to the sysman users if not set schedules.

  Is it possible to put the database in archive log mode before you shut down the database, and when the database stops and starts, the database should automatically be in log mode archive?
  
  because we cannot stop the database in the days of the week and we have system restart the weekend and we are not here this day here. So is there a way to set the database in the log archiving across the memory so that each restart of the database, it should start automatically in log mode archive.
