Convert vSwitch net management dvSwitch

Hi people,

Great first thanks for all the help I got here before - I now vSphere server configured with 3 authorized hosts, storage of work (including EqualLogic MPIO and HIT). vSpher server works as a guest VM on the host of the first.

Small however network problem. I have a "VM management network" portgroup on vSwitch0 with 2 NICs - identical configuration on all 3 hosts.

VSphere server is linked to it, and it works.

I want to convert a dvSwitch. I think so. Or is it stupid? Partly to ensure HA has on the vSphere vcenter server.

If he's not stupid, how should we do about it on a running system (not critical, do nothing)... Is this a case of pulling on one of the network cards off vSwitch0 and build a dvSwitch, then pass the virtual machine, and then kill vSwitch0 then move the other NETWORK card? That sounds like it could end in tears, superficially...

Same basic question again - that I should (I could) use a dvSwitch for the separate net vMotion? I created a test dvSwitch but I did not see the boxes to make a vMotion network...

The only other switch right now is the vswitch iSCSI and who can stay as a vSwitch because it supports core network only. The VMs that need to access SAN management take a path routed through the net of management.

There is also a public dvSwitch VLAN to present virtual machines to the Internet, but I feel that will be easy.

Thank you very much

Tim

I want to convert a dvSwitch. I think so. Or is it stupid? Partly to ensure HA has on the vSphere vcenter server.

Yes you can but I do not see why vCenter VM cannot be protected by VMware HA in a vSwitch legacy. and Yes, without vCenter your dvSwitch are still functional, but I don't think that you can change your virtual networks for your VM and etc...

If he's not stupid, how should we do about it on a running system (not critical, do nothing)... Is this a case of pulling on one of the network cards off vSwitch0 and build a dvSwitch, then pass the virtual machine, and then kill vSwitch0 then move the other NETWORK card? Yes, you can move it by clicking on the menu button "Migration Virtual Networking", but of course you are require to have a vDS first target.

Same basic question again - that I should (I could) use a dvSwitch for the separate net vMotion? I created a test dvSwitch but I did not see the boxes to make a vMotion network...

I think you can find host-> configuration-> network-> property vDS

    Nowhere I see a 'Tools' menu, or an option 'Service Management' in EM.

  • Question about the definition of SID by using Oracle Net Manager

    Hello

    I'm following the instructions provided in the document Oracle DBA for 2 days.

    Page 8-9, he gives instructions on how to configure net service using Oracle Net Manager names. Following the instructions, I created a new Identification of spare (by selecting the Naming Service and pressing the green button (+)). Using this method, I've created a new descriptor as shown below:
    ONM_ORCL =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Oracle2Day1.john.local)(PORT = 1521))
        )
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVICE_NAME = orcl.john.local)
        )
      )
    Note the use of the "Service-name" field to identify the service.

    Using Enterprise Manager, I created a new descriptor so, but EM has allowed me to use the SID instead of the SERVICE_NAME. The portion of TNSNames.ora created by EM is as shown below:
    ORCL_CREATED =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Oracle2Day1.john.local)(PORT = 1521))
          (LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
        )
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SID = ORCLSID)
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
        )
      )
    Note that this template does not use the "Service-name" field, it uses the "SID" field instead.

    As an exercise, I wanted to use Oracle Net Manager to create a descriptor that uses the SID instead of the SERVICE_NAME, just as I did in EM, but I can't find a way to do it. I be getting the SID of grey field (locked) or various errors.

    The question is: Should what steps I follow in Oracle Net Manager to create a descriptor like the one I created in EM?

    Thank you for your help,

    John.

    John,

    SID's ancient mechanism of the sqlnet. EM allows you to do so by an option button, but all other oracle tools are now using the mechanism of the Service only as the new standard that is used when the client tries to connect to the server. SID asks that the service must be available on this ony node where you try to connect without additional installation as failover, load balancing services in order to provide you with. So I would say you respect the service mechanism only and as far as I know, there is no way to put a SID by using the Oracle networking tools.

    On services, you read this book.,
    http://www.ardentperf.com/pub/services-schneider07.PDF

    This would explain why the concept of Service is better!

  • Net M4110x - Net management and iSCSI. Clarification of the configuration steps. The documentation is at best ambiguous.

    Hi guys,.

    I'm having a lot of trouble to translate what I know PS6000 table to the new M4100x.  Here's what I'm building:

    I want my iSCSI traffic that is completely isolated from all other traffic, and I want to use the CMC network to run the Board.  It must be a simple configuration, but Dell documentation for which is worse than useless.  It confuses and everyone who's read it confuses.  Why is this?

    It seems that I should be able to assign the IP addresses of management using the MCC according to DELL:

    Step 1.  Initialize the storage

    * Once in the CMC right-click on storage open storage gui initialization.

    * Member name: MY_SAN01
    * Member, IP: 192.168.101.10
    * Member gateway: 192.168.101.254
    Group name: MY_SAN
    Group IP address: 192.168.101.11
    Group of Memebersip password: groupadmin
    * Password Admin group: groupadmin

    It sounds simple enough, and when I apply this I guess I will be disconnected my M4110x simply because it currently resides on a separate network (net 2 in the image above).  Now how to set up the IP address of my CMC (net0 in the picture above) network management?

    Step 2.  Set ip management port

    According to the documentation of Dell, I have:

    To set the management port:

    * Open a telnet (ssh) session on a computer or console that has access to the PS-M4110 range. The array must be configured beforehand.

    * Connect the PS-M4110 modules using the following racadm command: racadm Server 15 connect

    * Connect to the PS-M4110 array as grpadmin

    Once I am in:

    Activate the management controller ports using the following commands in the CLI:
    0 > member select MY_SAN01
    1. (array1) > eth select 1
    2. (array1 eth_1) > 10.10.10.17 ipaddress netmask 255.255.255.0
    3. (array1 eth_1) > upward
    4. (array1 eth_1) > exit
    5. (array1) > grpparams
    6. (array1 (grpparams)) > network management-ipaddress 10.10.10.17

    (array1 (grpparams)) > exit

    My interpretation is correct?  Now my questions:

    1. in step 2. SubStep 1 - How can I know what ethernet interface to use?  Step 1 automatically assume eth0?

    2. am I correct in using the same IP address for both step 2 - substep 2 and substep 6?  Or do I have to assign a different IP address for these?  10.10.10.18 maybe.

    3. step 2 - substep 6, it doesn't seem to be that a network mask is that correct?

    4. comparison of the ps6000e - I set up an IP address for each controller (so 2) and then assigned an IP address for the group.  It's 3 IP addresses.  For this M4110, it seems that I have only one controller.  Is this correct?  The specifications make a point that there are 2 controllers.  What happened to the IP address of the controller of the 2nd?

    CLOSE-UPS

    I intend on building a VMware cluster using the algorithm of multiple paths of DELL and I built it to the DSC, but a technician Dell put in place the table initially and have not set up a dedicated management port.  Required configuration routing traffic on the net iSCSI management.  It is not recommended, and I don't want to set up this way.

    Currently, he is a blocking problemand I need to go beyond this ASAP.  I work with a large system integrator in Texas and plan on the order that these systems built this way on their part.  This means that I must be able to explain to them how to proceed.  This issue is standing in the way of progress, and I really hope I can get a satisfactory response from this forum.  Thanks for any helpful answers.

    I think I have the answers to my own questions:

    1. YES.  Step 1 automatically assume eth0.  There are TWO Ethernet interfaces and eth1 is disabled by default, and unless you use step 2 to set the management port this second Ethernet interface is never used.

    2. No. I can't use the same IP address for both lines.  In lower level 6 I need to use a different IP address on the same network 10.10.10.18 would work fine.

    3. YES.  It is correct.  Lower level 6 assumes the network mask that I have included in the point 2.

    4. it's tricky.  There is NO WAY to configure Active/active on these tables.  There are 2 controllers, but one "still asleep," unless the other fails.  Actually, the IP address is assigned to an Abstraction Layer, it maintains.  When fails another controller "awakens" and just starting to accept traffic and it doesn't care what its IP address.

    Another point.  Now that my table is initialized and my interfaces are configured, I need to know what IP address to point my ESXi hosts for their storage.  Use the IP address of the group assigned in step 1.  It is 192.168.101.11 (there is typo in the original post).

  • How have the Linux database server listener listen to the service in the Net of Windows XP Client Manager?

    People,

    Hello. I installed Oracle 11 GR 2 database server in the Oracle Linux 5 operating system.
    All customers (NetCA, DBCA, GROUND Deveoper, sqlplus...) works properly on the database server. The LISTENER_PT853 listener is listening on client tools under Linux successfully.

    I also installed Oracle database Client(SQL Developer, NetMgr, NetCA, sqlplus,...) in Windows XP. So that the client tools to connect to the database on Linux server, the listener in Linux must be tuned to the service in Windows XP.

    In Oracle Linux 5 Server Machine Net Manager:

    Service name: PT853
    Connection type: default database
    "TCP/IP Protocol".
    Host name: 192.168.196.102
    Port: 1521

    Listener: LISTENER_PT853
    Protocol: TCP/IP
    Host: 192.168.196.102
    Port: 1521

    I have test the Service PT853 with "SYS" username and password "SYS." The connection is successful.

    In the Windows XP Client computer, the information in the Net Manager is lower at:

    Service name: PT853_Linux
    Protocol: TCP/IP
    The host of the database Machine name: 192.168.196.102
    Port: 1521

    I test the connection by using "SYS" username and password "SYS" and got this error: ORA - 12514:TNS: listener does not currently of service requested in connect descriptor. There may be an error in the input fields or server may be ready to connect.

    Can I check the status of the listener in Linux Server machine as below:

    [user@localhost bin] $. / lsnrctl status LISTENER_PT853

    Its release: Service PT853 has 1 instance. PT853 of the Forum, State LOAN, has 1 handler for this service.

    Foregoing, we saw the listener in the Linux server machine only to listen to the PT853 service in Linux but not to listen to the service PT853_linux of the Windows XP client computer.

    Windows XP (192.168.196.101) and Linux (192.168.196.102) can ping each other successfully. So that client tools in Windows XP connection in Server database on Linux, the listener in Linux need to listen to on the service in Windows XP first.

    In Net Linux Manager, I add an address more (TCP/IP, 192.168.196.101, PORT 1521) to LISTENER_PT853, but gets the error.

    My question is:

    How have the Linux database server listener listen to the service in the Net of Windows XP Client Manager?

    Thanks in advance.

    UserAL1178M wrote:

    Hi you ave create listener.ora.

    Actually, no he didn't "need to create listner.ora.

    In fact, its problems stem from the fact that it * has * created one instead of letting some things by default.

    I give an example of my environment

    [oracle@home ~] $ cd /home/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/network/admin/

    [oracle@home admin] $ cat listener.ora

    listener.ora # Network Configuration file: /home/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/network/admin/listener.ora

    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

    LISTENER =

    (DESCRIPTION =

    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP (PORT = 1522))(HOST = home.test.al))

    (CONNECT_DATA =

    (SERVER = DEDICATED)

    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl.test.al)

    )

    )

    ADR_BASE_LISTENER = / home/oracle/app/oracle

    [oracle@home admin] $

    Change host, name of service depending on your environment. Your port is 1521.

    Then, first run all the listener and database startup. If you do the opposite, with that you will need to register the service change the order of system registry.

    Let me now if you need another sth

  • Net Vs ODBC connections Manager

    Please can someone help me?

    I use version Oracle 11 2 and I installed the instant (using YES) Client on a computer.

    I also installed the Manager of Net on the Client and creates a service name to connect to a server. When I press the test button, the connection seems to work okay as a success message is returned.

    However, when I create an ODBC DSN using the driver 'instant customer' and press the button test the connection, I get an ORA-12170 TNS: Connect timeout message occurred.

    I can do a tnsping and retirns ok.

    This may be the cause of odbc not to connect net Manager and AMT ping to do?

    My Service name and the name of "Naming Service" are the same (i.e. orcl11).

    Is there an odbc setting somewhere that I need to change?

    I have the firewall turned off on the client and the server.

    You have configured in both houses tnsnames.ora? By default, the houses are unaware of each other, you will need to probably just copy tnsnames.ora to complete customer reception at the home of the Instant Client. Alternatively, make sure at least that they both have the same information in them.

    It will be useful,

  • Question quick bonehead: ESXi management network?

    Hello

    Didn't find it in the docs still... Managing IP network that is configured on the ESXi console:

    Does it become part of any another logical network later, for example the VMotion network - or is it independent?

    I'm trying to find out where to place; so far, I have:

    net iSCSI (private)

    NET vMotion (private)

    NET management (LOM and other things)

    Main DvSwitch (public internet)

    I assumed that the ESXi management IP is purely the hook to vCentre control one or several hosts - in which case, for us, it could logically go on the net public or management of the net, as long as he has a gig connectivity - would it be a reasonable assessment?

    Thank you very much

    Tim

    The net vMotion fit into this net managemnet - or is it physically separate?

    No, vMotion traffic moves the load of the computer virtual from one host to another. This traffic is not encrypted and so - for security reasons - the vMotion network must be a separate private network. Depending on your topology (1 GB, 10 GB), you can consider using cards dedicated for vMotion to provide the necessary bandwidth.

  • Convert VB2005 read routine file for Labview

    Hello everyone,

    I am very NEW to Labview (using Labview 2010) and I am trying to convert a Net in Visual Basic 2005 dot program to format of Labview.

    My question to the group is, I would like to convert the VB code below in Labview.  This is one of the many readings of text file which makes my VB program.

    ' * Read data from frequency of files and convert them to Double *.
    List = 0
    oRead = IO. File.OpenText("C:\TPS_Data\PA_Freq_List.txt")
    All in oRead.Peek <> -1
    LineIn = oRead.ReadLine)
    TFL (List) = LineIn
    TestFreq (List) = Convert.ToDouble (TFL (List))
    List = + 1
    End while
    oRead.Close)

    These files are calibration/offset and rate data for my RF ATE test equipment.  Once the operator selects an amplifier to test, the program loads into memory these specific files in amplifier.  These variables they are whole, double or whatever store them in a table under (ex: TestFreq (0), TestFreq (1), etc.).  Each frequency has its own offset and calibration data which are sent to the test apparatus by each tested frequency.  This line of code is possible, or do I have to find another way to do this?  If so, how to store and retrieve these data at any time during the test.

    I appreciate all of the information provided by this group.  Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards

    Scott

    Greetings smercurio_fc,

    Thank you for your recent reply.

    Between your most recent response and another post that I fell today by searching on google, I was able to accomplish what I wanted to do.  The basic function was to read the text file, which is a list of test frequencies and move a generator of RF signals at each frequency in the list.

    Thanks again for your time.

  • Managed provider support for XmlType

    Any idea when XmlType will be supported by the managed provider?  It is the only thing preventing us from adopting right now.

    Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client.OracleException: Unsupported column datatype

    Malv. link: managed provider support for XmlType (qustion arhived because)

    I use odp.net.managed.121.1.2

    It seems that always xmlType is unsupported. It is work around?

    It seems that you use ODP.NET of ODAC 12 c R2, which does not support XmlType. If you go to ODP.NET in ODAC 12 c R3, you will be able to use XmlType. It is currently supported in this version of managed ODP.NET.

  • Several networks management

    In the environment that I support, I see there are two different vSwitches with management networks. Neither vmkernel is on a real management network (OOB), so I wonder what would be the advantage of having more than one? Both are connected to the same switch upstream.

    I recently added a new host in the cluster, but only added 1 management network (it's on the same subnet as other guests), but when I added it to the cluster, I saw put HA cautioned that he could not reach the other management staff (2nd management network) networks on all hosts.

    One advantage that I see if it's a problem with the particular subnet network type. Seems a bit pointless to me

    Mark

    This is mainly to avoid network isolation situation management in vSphere HA. as you can see, when you added a host more and configured only VMKernel for management, HA started that warns you that there is no redundant heartbeat network.

    and even if it's on the same switches upstream, operating in the same subnet, it gives you link redundancy if there is a failure to VMNIC, a link, or level switch, you'll always have a way to reach the host to manage.

  • Question about the collection of NETWORK adapters for vMotion / VM vSwitch

    Hello

    We use vSphere Enterprise Edition 5.1.

    We also create separate vSwitch for management / vMotion and VM.

    Each vSwitch receives 2 network cards connected to the different switch for redundancy.

    We would like to know is necessary to provide the collection of NETWORK adapters for these vSwitches?  Currently, only enable us NIC Teaming for VM vSwitch only.

    Thank you

    VSwitch vMotion, we have 2 assigned NIC (nic2 and nic6) with 10 VLANS.  NIC2 and nic6 are connected to 2 different physical switches.

    Should I choose

    (1) both are active

    (2) both are assets + grouping of NETWORK cards?

    Question - if there is only 1 VLAN, it seems that NIC Teaming is also not very useful unless we use 2 VLAN (Multi-NIC vMotion).  Is this right?

    If you use Multi-NIC vMotion, there is no need to have two different VLANS, all you need is depending on configuration

    on your vMotion switch, please create two vmkernel port for vMotion with the same VLAN ID, but the grouping of NETWORK cards as below

    vMotion_1 - VLAN ID: 10

    Grouping of NETWORK cards

    vmnic2 - active

    vmnic6 - watch

    vMotion_2 - VLAN ID: 10

    vmnic6 - active

    vmnic2 - watch

  • How to make the Mobile friendly tables or convert

    Hi again! I have an obvious problem with that I think has a very obvious solution that I already know, but I thought I'd come here first in the hopes that I could save time. I've been remodeling an older site to have a newer look and be mobile friendly as well. Some of the pages on this site use tables, I prefer to use the divs because they are easier to change the layout if necessary for phone or tablet. As it is, there are a lot of pages using complex tables, those who have been on the site before I even and resumed the work on this site. So my question... Is it possible to make friendly mobile tables? If not, is there a way to convert rapidly about 150 pages of html to use divs instead of tables outside to manually enter in each page and gradually replace each part of the table?

    Here is the table that I'm trying to make mobile friendly or convert:

    My main reason for this request here is because it would take me a VERY LONG time to go through each page one by one for the tables for divs. Maybe someone here has a solution? As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

    The tables are a great challenge in the propulsion back.  At one point, they stop to resize.  Look at solutions of Bootstrap for sensitive Tables.

  • Management of data access Client pulling the registry instead of Web.config settings

    I have an ASP.NET 4.0 application configured with the managed provider of ODP (32 bit) via the customer install the production. It is configured with the following text in the root web.config file:

    <oracle.manageddataaccess.client>
      <version number="4.121.1.0">
        <settings>
          <setting name="TraceLevel" value="127"/>
          <setting name="TraceOption" value="0"/>
          <setting name="TraceFileLocation" value="c:\temp\odpnet66.trc"/>
        </settings>
        <onsConfig mode="remote"></onsConfig>
      </version>
    </oracle.manageddataaccess.client>

    When I look for the trace file, however, I realize that it is written to a location set to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ORACLE\ODP.NET\4.121.1.0.

    What needs to be done to make the provider read its settings from the web.config file?

    Additional information:

    <system.data>
        <DbProviderFactories>
        <remove invariant="Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client" />
        <add name="ODP.NET, Managed Driver"
             invariant="Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client"
             description="Oracle Data Provider for .NET, Managed Driver"
             type="Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.Client.OracleClientFactory, Oracle.ManagedDataAccess,Version=4.121.1.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342" />
      </DbProviderFactories>
      </system.data>

    You probably ODP.NET, pilot managed, also installed on your machine, if the registry entry, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ORACLE\ODP.NET\4.121.1.0, has been created. This registry entry is not created by managed ODP.NET. Any tracing would flow from the ODP.NET, to use unmanaged driver.

    Some recommendations to try to allow managed ODP.NET tracing:

    (1) value TraceLevel 7 or reduce its value.  Managed and unmanaged trace level values are different. What are managed.

    • TraceLevel: 1 = Public API; 2 = private API; 4 = API/data network. These values can be OR ed. To enable all, set TraceLevel to 7 . Errors will be always drawn.

    (2) set the TraceFileLocation on a directory name, not the file name. Make sure that the location of the directory exists.
