Copying files to a DVD disc

Hi, I tried to copy/paste a XL (Office 2010 on Windows 7) file to a DVD disc. Without success. The 'Paste' option on the right button of the mouse was swept away.

I tried also to drag the file on the disk, without success.

Finally, I saved the file on the DVD drive, in which the virtual disk has been inserted, and it worked like a dream.

DVD-RAM has been formatted in my computer for UDF 2.01.

You'll appreciate suggestions how copy and paste or make drag a file on the DVD RAM disk.

Thank you, Joseph.

OK, J Guz,

I've made a little progress: first method all no 1 and 2 that you suggested did not help. I did not apply the method 3, as I fear this will mess up program and security updates.

What I found is that I can drag-and - drop or copy and paste a file, If it was previously recorded for example in 'MY documents'.

As far as I'm concernrd, it is a reasonable solution.

I could drag-and - drop or copy and paste files not saved on a DVD RAM drive in my computer XP Pro SP3 previous probably because I had a program InCD is installed as part of NERO burning program.

The following link provides a nice explanation:

http://www.pcbuyerbeware.co.UK/ComputerProblems/CD-DVD-Blu-ray-drive-problems/drag-and-drop-files-to-recordable-rewritable-CDs-DVDs-Blu-ray-discs.htm

Thanks again, Joseph.

  • DSA files: I can't watch avd files from a dvd disc. How can I do this?

I can't look at avd files from a dvd disc. How can I do this

DSA files are 7 BACK.  I spent nearly 45 minutes looking for any program that would read this type of file and could happen to any (see below - it may as well have been none).  I don't know the reason, you can't look at AVD files from a DVD disc is because he has not installed software capable of reading this file type.  None of the major software look at programs to support this type of file and I could not even find a 3rd party single program (freeware, demo, shareware or ware) that claims to be able to read this type of file (and I spent more than 45 minutes, looking in all the obvious places: www.download.com,www.tucows.com, Bing and Google). I could also find no program which converts the AVD files into a format readable by standard viewers.

Well, this is not quite correct.  I found the folllowing: http://media-geek.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_details&Itemid=142&gid=160 but I do not qualify to become a member (and doubt do you either) and the program is not in the home page of the manufacturer list (which means maybe he is no longer available or taken in charge) and it does not say what operating systems it is compatible with (so I don't know if this works with Vista even if we could get at the point of download it which I doubt somehow).  I'm not even sure that it is applicable for the DVD you have.

Indeed, if it was already possible with earlier versions of Windows or Windows software, I do not think it is no longer possible.

You can search by yourself and I wish you success.

    Good luck!

  • Get error when MPEG copy files on a DVD

trying to copy video MPEG files to external hard drive on a DVD, error message "Windows has encountered a problem, try to copy files," I used to be able to do that!

Just to add to the answer of John.

Mpegs dvd copying will result in MPEG to dvd as data disc.  They will play on a computer, but not in a dvd player and tv.

You need create a dvd-video disc to make it playable on a dvd player.

This will be one of the options that you get from the dvd you choose to use burning software.

I tried several types of disc but am find me suddenly unable to write / copy files on a DVD or a CD. I use a HP with XP desktop computer. This problem started last night. When I put in a disk, it reads. I clicked on properties, then go to AutoPlay. I choose, for example, a content type - I'll click on say, mixed content, and ok. Everything I do or choose here, it will not save. I hit the Restore Defaults and it does nothing. In Windows Explorer, instead of inscription on the list DVD + RW and whateer in car, it displays an image of a disc with the date and the E drive.

  • copy of the files on a DVD and share it with other computers

I "sent" file of my blank DVD. I chose "mastered" to achieve a closed DVD. I then answer 'Yes' to create another disk? Which failed. I tried to put my first drive back in test it. Instead of going on the DVD, he went to a folder on my C: drive and gave a message of "ready to burn files to disc" message. I opened the DVD in Windows Explorer, and of course, he directed me to a folder on my C: drive. ALL I WANT TO DO IS COPY FILES TO A DVD. I have NOTHING else to this function in Windows. I want to be able to write files to a disc and then PLAY these files successfully, later.

    Burn a CD or DVD

If your computer is equipped with a CD or DVD burner, you can copy files to a recordable disc. This process is called burning a disc. By default, Windows Burns discs in the active file system format, but you can also choose to burn discs in ISO image format.

Choose the size of the ISO image when you need a highly compatible disc that will play in computers with an older version of Windows or in devices such as CD and DVD players that can play video files and music digital. • DVD / disc not recognized Equium A100

I recently bought a laptop with Vista installed Equium. On my old pc (Windows XP Home edition), I supported a large number of pictures and files on a DVD disc with nero, when I try to load these on my laptop the drive is not recognized.

I have a lot of files on the other DVD, these are also not recognized, I would like to transfer these files on my laptop. Can anyone help this?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

As you have probably not known, not all CD or DVD is compatible with each drive.
This means that sometimes the medium cannot be recognized and the Player cannot read or write on CD or DVD.

In my knowledge in the manual, you should find a list of compatible DVD and CD.

PS: I use the TDK CD and DVD TDK. I m very satisfied

  • 'File name' error too long when you copy a folder to a DVD disc

When I copy a folder that contains a large number of files on an external hard drive, I have no problem, but if I try to copy the same folder to a DVD disc, I get a message indicating that a file name is too long.  My first question is why do I get the message for DVD and not the external hard drive?  My second question is: How can I generate a list of files in my folder that have too long names? My second question is already other post on the forum, but there was no answer.  Is it because it is not possible to generate such a list?

    Thank you

It depends on what is called the 'file system '. File systems are how files are stored on a disk. Many of them have limits on how long the total file path can be. DVD and external hard drives use different file systems.

If you want a list of all the files in a folder, open a command prompt. Type this in:

    CD "C:\path\to\folder".

and press ENTER. Replace path\to\folder with the path of the file in your file that you want to check to make sure this filepath is in quotes!

    Now type:

    dir /s > 'output.txt '.

and press ENTER. This will tell the guest to make a list of all the files in this folder and in each subfolder, and then store in a text file. This will allow you to view the list and I hope to find the long file names. Once you have found the long file name, go to that file, and then change the name.

Here is an example of the above commands. Let's say I have a folder named "foo" in the My Documents folder. I first type:

    CD "C:\Users\Entegy\Documents\foo".

and press ENTER. Now, I want the list of files to be placed on my desk. Then I type:

    dir /s > "C:\Users\Entegy\Desktop\filelist.txt."

And voila, I have a list of all the content of foo on my desktop files. Just make sure that your path ends with .txt and you'll be fine. And don't forget to put quotes around filepaths!

  • Why can't copy files to DVD + R... not recognized

Hello..  I am trying to copy the files on a dvd + r disc, but the drive is not recognized. HWiNFO32 among others assure me my dvd drive can play & read...

CD - R, CD - RW, DVD-R, DVD - RW, DVD + R, DVD + RW, DVD + R DL.  Any advice would be welcome. I am running XP Pro SP3 with all available updates.

You must install and use a third-party software like ImgBurn to write data on DVD.

    Hey derizz,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.

If you cannot copy files normally, try to copy guest rather using Xcopy command.

    1. click on start, principally made programs, click Accessories and then right-click on command prompt, click Run as administrator.
    2. type the following command line and press ENTER. In the command line, drive is the letter of the CD drive or DVD drive.

    xcopy drive:-*. * /s > c:\test1

See if that helps to successfully copied the files on your hard drive.
