Corrupt Admin transfer of user Standard privileges

The corrupted administrator account it is impossible to connect even with the password so I transferred the files the standard account, but this does not solve the question of access to administrator privileges is there a way I can transfer status admin without access to the Admin account?

Nevermind, I transferred privileges by using the default account

On a Windows 7 computer with one user, is there protection against malware infection higher to win in standard user?

My understanding is that even when you run as administrator, the rights are not high, until you allow UAC elevation, so I wonder if the unelevated admin is essentially the same as the user standard unelevated (again, I speak just from the point of view of the installation of malware).

In my research I found that it is often said that the standard user can make changes that affect its own user account, not the rest of the computer. But when you're the only user, who seems to be irrelevant. I read an article by a Microsoft developer who said he could write the malware which is perfectly happy running completely in a standard user account and return this information to credit card, user names, passwords, etc., for the wicked.

I've got different Win 7 computers running both feel, and it seems that both ask for elevation every so often, the only difference being that the standard user needs to enter a password.

So the question is: is there an advantage to be a standard user, from the point of view to prevent installation of malware (for example, from Drivede or click on a malicious link facilities)?

    Hello, YoVincenzo

    There is no definitive answer.

When UAC is at its highest setting, there is little difference. Assuming that you are the only one with access to the computer, I would say it of mostly personal preference and really depends on what you plan to do on the computer.

The biggest concern would be automated exploits on Web sites and if you visit Web sites that may contain, you can opt for the standard account just be on the safe side.

The UAC settings are a good mix between security and ease-of-use and should be sufficient in most cases.

  • Control Panel - you cannot change user access privileges

Today visited a customer who was a profile error at startup of Windows 7 (Home Premium).

After a lot of unexpected problems, I found that the built-in Administrator account seemed to be missing (!) but I was able to create a user base at the command prompt, by using "net use XXX / add". Tried to add this user to the Administrators group, but it does not (unfortunately, with no error message).

When I started, I could open the Control Panel, but when I tried to change the new user (for an admin), I was invited for an admin password, but the following option to change the user's privileges did NOT appear. Using the basic account for access to the regedit failed (as you know), but he confirmed that there are a couple of profiles on the machine, which has fewer values than the other.

The cat of the user, it turns out that the PC was a buying opportunity, and he had also been in the hands of another, who had attempted a repair (after a failed upgrade). The user doesn't have to believe that the PC had been through Windows updates in the recent past.

Thus, the result is that there are now 2 user ID Windows on the PC, a (Administrator) who gets an error in profile and a second (standard user) that allows to perform basic operations.

I don't check the 'Guest' Windows built-in account, but I'm sure that (from what I've seen in a few hours) that someone in the past had just set a "standard" on the box and then eventually renamed account built-in "Administrator" as the user name.

I don't like leaving my clients with no answered questions weigh on their PC, but this one has me relatively perplexed.

    My questions are:

-is it possible to rename (or otherwise damage) on behalf of the default Windows administrator?

-which might explain why the control panel will not allow you to change the type of the user?

-If the account are accessible on the PC with administrator privileges has become corrupt, is the only viable solution to proceed to re - install Windows?

    Thanks in advance...!

-is it possible to rename (or otherwise damage) on behalf of the default Windows administrator?

-> Why would you damage the default admin account?

-> Rename an account is superficial. You give only the existing account, a nickname, but the name remains behind.

-which might explain why the control panel will not allow you to change the type of the user?

-> With the help of an ordinary user plans to promote some administrator-level accounts is against the principles of security. This would make the concept of "account administrator" without value. You need to be logged under an administrator account to perform administrative actions.

-If the account are accessible on the PC with administrator privileges has become corrupt, is the only viable solution to proceed to re - install Windows?

-> With a used PC, the only viable option is to perform a destructive factory restore to make the machine 'as new '. It would be dangerous to use the PC in its current state. There could be more that a dog has fleas or virus it could be hacked that will create an interesting situation when the user deals with sensitive information (Internet banking, personal correspondence).

  • Corrupt admin account, now I can't do anything.

so this problem started when my computer crashed when I was playing a game so I'll restart my computer, so I get to the login screen and I click on my account sign in ect, but when I do I get this error service user profile service does not have the connection. That account was the only Admin account on my pc so I'm going on my guest account to hope to find a solution, so I watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEyxD6ZG-jI) I get to a point where you rename the profile list things and I can't, I get an error renaming key. After seeing this error I am trying to find a solution for that as well and I see that I must run regedit as admin, but when I do it says that Regedit.exe is not found so I decided to try it this way, I find another where you copy your files from the user to another one and then I try to open my folder of the user of the admin account and I can't use the word of past admin to get in as I type right, I do everything and the dosent work admin. So I try and see if admin password works on aything else and it will not work. I think my sali corrupt admin account with the password pls help as im stuck.

This account is the only admin account on my pc

-> Big mistake. You should always have at least two admin accounts, even you have at least two keys of the House and for the same reason.

It is said that Regedit.exe is not found

-> The file is located in the folder c:\Windows\System32. You see it there?

You copy your files from the user in another

-> Another what? Can be a little more specific?

You should now use your repair Windows CD to start the computer in Windows Repair Mode, and then use the system restore to set Windows in a few days. If you do not have such a CD, ask a friend to burn you through the control panel / backup and restore. It is absolutely essential if you are maintaining your own PC.

  • The user's privileges are not be correct.

Probably about six or seven months ago a few changes have taken place in my system that causes the user's privileges in newly created records files to create one or the other a very low (or nonexistent) level.

My system has two user established ID: default Administrator (1) which has been renamed "bossman") and 2) Gary (determined at the time of installing OS).  Two of these user accounts have (at least they seem to have) full control system privileges.  It seems that all the folder/file access privileges CAN be established by one of these users ID; but the installation program and the simple creation of file/folder inside the ID does not automatically establish these new files/folders with full privilege rights that I expect.  This means that these newly created folders/files should be reviewed on an individual basis to establish all the privileges either of these administrator level users.

I want to take place when a new folder/file is created or a program installed, is that the full control privileges for these two users (at least the user who creates the folder/file or install the program) are assigned privileges of full control to the folder / file (s).

Suggestions on how to fix this annoying privilege setting ommisson would be really appreciated.

I don't really know where to start looking for the solution to this problem.

After re-reading your problem and do a little research and a few tests, I think you have a problem of "legacy".  Normally, creating a new file or folder within a different folder will inherit what appeared folder had permissions.  However, there is a way to disable this legacy.  When inheritance is disabled, then a new file or folder created inside a parent folder will be an amount stripped of access.  This is specified by the parameter "applies to...» "in the ACL Editor.  So all you probably need to do is go to the folder top-level parent and specify that its legacy features apply to the "This folder, subfolders and files" and check the box to "replace all permissions of child object with permissions inheritable of this object.  Change the field "applies to the" to "This folder, subfolders and files" provides future objects will inherit as well.  For a visual look at Figure 10.23 and table 10.18 on pages 634-635 at the following link.  The text also describes the legacy.

    <>http://books.google.com/books?id=8MkwSmOYi6QC&pg=PA631&lpg=PA631&dq=acl+inheritance+windows&source=bl&ots=sMfpk2Mjx-&sig=DoVuadbQYT7j1tciYWz8ol0wWGU&hl=en&sa=X&ei=OSoKUJTmL8qs2gX8qMz5Dw&ved=0CFcQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q&f=false>

I don't have a handy WinXP machine, but it should be substantially the same as on my machine Windows7 tends in that direction:
Right click folder-> properties-> Security-> Advanced (tab)-> change permissions-> Edit and you should see a ' applies to: "box under the name.

This setting is quite hard to find and I congratulate you, at the same time, to find this setting...

I'm under win 8 and plan to buy a new computer with win 8 is installed. Is there a way to transfer my user applications intact without the re - install.

You need to reinstall the desktop applications such as Microsoft Office. But for applications modern purchased through the store Windows, you can easily reinstall those by connecting using your Microsoft Account.

Open the app Store of Windows from the startup screen

    Press Windows + Z

    Click on your applications

Reinstall the applications you have downloaded or bought

Windows 8 to only reinstall your modern applications on up to 5 PCs.

CC of Dreamweaver takes conditional text? Specifically, can I put all of my tech data in a doc of DW and the output of the subsets of data (doc Admin against doc user versus doc Marketing) based on tags or other methods?

I don't have any front-end text editor (such as FrameMaker) or I'd do it here. Dreamweaver can do this without complex workarounds or procedures not supported?

    Thank you very much.

  • Driver manual install - no Internet - user Standard

    Hello

I'm new to this forum simply because after spending some time looking for my answer, I've had no luck whatsoever...  I'll give an explicit example of what I'm trying to accomplish if anyone can understand what it is I'm doing.
Our company has recently designed a product that uses a serial converter USB (MFG FTDI) number.  Through this interface, the customer can view the log files, change configurations, etc...  The customer has asked this question: If an employee has a new laptop (the driver was never installed), he works in a very remote location (no internet connection and Yes, it is typical for our industry), and has a user account standard (without administrator privileges), he or she will be able to install the required driver?
I started to answer this question by creating a standard account on my laptop.  When you try to answer this question, every avenue I pursued leads me to an answer of no. FTDI offers a driver .exe install the application, clicking on it, my computer is brought to its knees, and the only way to recovery is done by 'hard' reset.  I must point out that install .exe that FTDI works well when it run under the admin account.  I tried to do a right click on the device in the Device Manager window that would allow me to point to the drivers, even once, NO luck.  I tried to use the line install command prompts (have the.) INF files) - NO luck.  What really bothers me is that I know that the drivers can be installed as long as there is an internet connection.  I guess that the drivers are placed here: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository...?  I can't drop files of the driver here because this is a protected system file.
Has anyone has fought against a similar problem?  If so, could you point me in the right direction.  I fell like I am in a bind...
PS I know it is a forum for Windows 7, but the goal is to tackle this problem for XP as well.
    Thank you all!

Thanks, Oberwald, for the answer.  At the launch of the pilot, it should run until the end.  There is no need to specify some settings etc...

After re-reading your original post, I came to realize that my first thought would not work in your environment. You're stuck with the standard restriction in Windows 7 where the new drivers can be installed in one of two ways:

    • When you are connected under an administrator account.
    • Through Group Policy.
The second method doesn't seem to be feasible for machines in remote areas.

my administrative ac transferred to standard acre now I have no privileges to add or remove the softwareor programe. He asked me to provide the administrative password. well kindly help me how can I convert my standard user in adminstrater ac ac

    Here you go:

    1. Set your BIOS so that it uses the DVD drive as its primary boot device.
    2. Start the computer with your Windows 7 repair CD.
    3. Press a key when prompted to boot from the DVD.
    4. Select 'PC Repair' in the menu.
    5. Select 'Repair' when prompted.
    6. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
    7. Set Windows to a point before you demoted the admin account.
    8. Plan ahead a little and create, test and document an alternative admin account, same as you have a spare emergency House key. This will save you a lot of trouble.
  • Modification of user passwords / privileges via API

I work with the API user in a custom user Manager utility to perform all the basic operations of an admin of luminaire (create, modify, delete).

Above all, the tool is very simple, but I'm looking to see if anyone else has experienced two elements that are irking me that exist as features of the Engine.EditUserDialog () method.

When you change an existing via the existing method of TS user, you can change the password & privileges without headaches.  However when you use the raw API none of these simple tasks seem trivial.

    (1) when 'I' User.Password, the chain is (naturally) scrambled to prevent casual snooping.  In my view as dialog box * anyway, so not done wrong. However, TS doesn't seem to know if it is powered by the chain on the side 'set' of the equation is already coded and based on my tests, seems to be scrambling twice if no change is made to this field.  Is it possible to implement User.Password which will _not_ force a "scramble"?  (in case I want to put the password to the value it was already?)

Normally, I would just omit the 'set' action if I didn't change the value. But because of other circumstances (see below), I don't have that luxury this time.

    (2) in the API User.Privileges is a property read-only even for administrators.  Is there a work around for this for when an administrator wants to upgrade/downgrade a user access?  It seems to me that the achievable only thing to do is copy the info from the old user object, destroy it and make the new user with the correct privilege container object.  Adjust assignments of UserGroupList is pretty easy, but there is no way to modify an existing user privileges...

    Curious!

    Hi Elaine,.

I think you just need to modify the members of a particular group.

That you have defined a new user Joe Brown as a technician but later, you will need to change to be an operator.

All you do is remove a GroupUser technician members and add operator GroupUser members. You need not resubmit the password.

Get a reference to Engine.UserGroup ("technician")

with this reference, get a picture of the User.Members

Find out where the user is in the table and remove this item

    close the reference User.Members

Get a reference to Engine.UserGroup ("operator")

with this reference, get a picture of the User.Members

Add Joe Brown at the members table.

    close the reference User.Members

Joe Brown will now be an operator and you do not have to change its coordinates.

I noticed that by using the User Manager to see the changes that I could see that Joe Brown had changed groups and it has been removed from a group, but it has not been shown in the new group.saving the user changes and disconnect and connect again the changes where now seen.

Then maybe you need to validate the user to the new group.

    See if that helps

  • Discoverer 10 g Admin - EUL export/import of privileges and security

    Hello

Could someone tell me how a 10g EUL Exim behaves in terms of security and privileges in the following scenario please?

As part of an upgrade, we are heading to Apps mode secuirty and we try to create a new security structure and a privilege based on responsibilities.

In the Test environment (a clone improved the Live environment), we can create new responsibilities, we need and can assign the appropriate security and privileges to each of them (these new responsibilities do not exist in the direct environment).

My understanding is that once the new responsibilities have been created online, we use a copy of the END user license to transfer Test to Live configuration as there is a risk that the id of the new responsibilities created independently in each environment may not correspond to the top.

If we were to export a subset of it or the Test EUL and then import the configuration in Live a) is security included in the export file and import deal solve the liability/user possible incompatibility between the two environments and b) would be the responsibility/user privileges created in Test be carried over into the live environment or import use the privileges of responsibility/user existing live?

I watched the EUL export file and it would seem that the security is present in the file, but I would like confirmation of this and the behavior of importing when there is potentionally a difference in liability between source and target environment id. I have not yet spotted something I associate with privileges in the export EUL still file so I wonder if the privileges are actually moved?

Any help or information about any other 'traps' would be most appreciated.

    Thank you

    Andy

    Hello

The responsibility_key is a field that you specify when the responsibility is established in the E-Business Suite. Once responsibility has been created it cannot be changed and is gray in the form of E - BS.
