Cost of laptop but AC adapter is not recognized

I just bought HP DV6-2157WM out of craigslist and wipe the entire system and did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 x 64. Went to the HP support for this laptop and got all the drivers. Everything works flawlesly except that the laptop does not recognize the AC adapter. I did a hard reset but nothing. I can boot the laptop with only the AC adapter. The lightning bolt light remains on until the battery is fully charged. The light next to the port of ca comes on only after a hard reset, but only for a few seconds. The charger is not an OEM charger but is a Rocketfish rated 5A 15 - 20v 90W universal adapter. I have no idea what to do then all help is appreciated.

Many Chargers now have digital ID embedded in the load voltage which is then identified by your system. Most aftermarket ones do not have this signal so even if it was the same in specs it can not be recognized. This is normally detected by the bios when you first start and is rarely the option ignore the type of power supply enabled. You may need to obtain an oem hp working properly. I'm sorry.

find WiFi driver update on the Toshiba site. will try and install from a cd that this update talks of G which seems to me the minimum required here in our mobile Park that requires WiFi.

Also will try to connect to the library or McDonald's today.

Is there a way re install the software for the USB that comes with the CD of the OS? I also searched on Toshiba, but there is no update for the USB driver.

Last January, I re installed Windows XP on this laptop and at that time there all worked as it should. Now, we're back in the Park and the laptop was not for months and it all started with the USB recognizing one of my memory sticks.

I'm on a computer laptop gateway and my cd player does not work all of a sudden. I can eject and put CD in there and it will hum for awhile, but nothing will happen. I went to Device Manager and it is not yet listed. I read the other topics and the problem is still not resolved, please help. Also, my HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder has not all folders in there, so I can't go to system/etc to delete anything because there is nothing to remove. Thank you for your time

    Hello

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)

  • Satellie Pro A120 - network adapter wireless not recognized by any operating system

    Hello

    I have a satellite Pro A120 (I bought two - it's a long story!)

A month ago, I replaced the battery as life batt had fallen to 30 minutes. As a result, there were major problems with windows and toshiba software compete on power management and the long and short it wasn't that XP needed to be reinstalled.

    3. What is the number of brand and model of the computer?

    4. the issue is not confined with Skype?

It seems to be the problem of equipment, and for extra help, you will need to contact the manufacturer of the computer. If you are comfortable, then you can try the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Turn your laptop off and dispose of the battery in your computer, and then connect the AC adapter directly. Press and hold the power for 10 seconds. It will help you to reset the power settings. Once you are done with the reset, check if the power adapter is detected.

    Method 2:

Try to update the driver for the webcam and check if it helps.
