CPU fan stops spinning after reaching 75 OC on HP Pavilion dv6-6169er

My HP Pavilion dv6-6169er (Core i5 2410M and AMD 6770 M) overheating in games or other heavy duty applications. The fan works fine until the temperature reaches 75 OC. After that it shuts down completely. The only way to get new spin is to stop the laptop and wait for it to cool down. If I try to turn it on before he gets cool I get a right system fan error after bios initializes.

This laptop is 1 year old and my warranty has expired, so I'd appreciate any help.

I thought it was dust or something like that so I disassembled the computer. But it was quite clean inside (good job HP actually!). The only thing I have not tried, it replaces the thermal interface.

Someone at - it had similar problems? It seems that the fan stops turning due to overheat (can't imagine anything more stupid). Thanks for any help in advance!

Good job...

BIOS HP has been "dumbed down" - some of these typical options, we can if expect to see in a BIOS are not available.  We can speculate on the reasons.

Time of development of the system: replace all what you can without breaking something else.

If you are going to take seriously on parts snatching (continued), make sure you have a backup of the complete picture.  The Windows backup and restore program that will do it for you.  The version of Windows 7 is pretty good; I have an image still fails.  You can depend on the recovery disc for the recovery of the OS, even if these can be a little less reliable (in MY opinion) AND, of course, we must make them in the first place - so many people think that these things AFTER the fact.  The smile.  I am ex - IT... I think that the best backups.

Here is a complete backup solution that has recently caught my attention - little of these things done because for some reason, they always fall into disgrace (failure at work, difficult, complicated, cost money, irritating, stranger, not Linux...).  You could take a look and see if it looks like something interesting.  For Windows / Linux.

Redo backup - recovery - Bare Metal Restore

===================================================================================

If you can get a cooler under this area, you might be able to shatter the CPU spent 50% until you can get things repaired... The typical cost of these things is something between US $20 and more.  Think in the range of US $50, one who possesses a fan with variable speed, one On / Off switch and some level of craftsmanship that will last longer than necessary so that the shipping box to take to the recycling bin.  For so much money, you can even get two fans - number of fans is NOT important as the quality, placement of fan and quality, building product, and you think of the overall unit - looks, weight, size, material, feel.  It's not rocket science - just expect to see a BUNCH of refrigerators on the market and expect to spend a few minutes by selecting one you like.  The smile.

I appreciate the comments - and others will, too.  "A picture is worth" and all that.  Many people have problems similar to this one - Visual AIDS are useful.

Good luck!

  • How can I return the volume bar display after reimagee the laptop? HP Pavilion dv6 2120sl

    Hello

I just got back my cell phone after being reimagee Windows.

There are above the keyboard volume and tabs of wi - fi, wi - fi works very well, if I turn it off it changes the color red. However not in the same goes for the volume (it's always white) and also before the reimage whenever I put the volume there was little box on the screen showing how I changed the volume... Now, still works, but I want this little box back what seemed before. How can I do?

I installed HP MediaSmart together - and restarted the laptop after her, but always without success.

    I have a 64-bit Windows 7 installation.

    Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you.

Hello mmirjam, welcome to the Forums of HP.

It seems that your lack of 'volume bar' since having your laptop reimagee. I will try to help you with this.

Start using this document from Microsoft: how the icons appear in the notification area of change.

He should be able to guide to check settings, to see if this has been changed.

If this does not work, then try to update the audio drivers: HP Pavilion dv6-2120sl Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers.

  • Satellite M30X-129: CPU fan runs constantly after new XP Pro re - install

I just installed a new Samsung 120 GB drive in my M30X-129, an upgrade of the 60 GB IBM drive with what it was originally provided.

Tried ghost XP Home installation of the old drive to the new - but it didn't work for some reason, installation, attached to a page with the "Windows XP" logo on it...

So, I installed XP Pro with SP2 from scratch on the new drive.

After having done that, I then installed the Toshiba and utils drivers listed for your laptop:

    NES http://UK.Computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK&mode=allMachi & action = search & teddProduct = 555

The problem I have is that the fan runs at full speed all the time - this isn't the case with the old installation of XP (was rare for it to come on at all when slowed down in the office - running full bore 100% of the time)

Research by and try a few suggestions:

-J' installed the common Utils from Toshiba
-J' installed the Toshieba power management - and set the fan speed to ' Silent' has ', but that doesn't seem to have any effect.

Any suggestions? for example. where I get the latest versions of the applications?

The noise of the fan slowly leads me to the top of the wall...

    Ben.

    Hello Ben

If you have installed your own OS and Toshiba designed drivers, tools and utilities, I assume that this problem cannot be software. I'm really not 100% sure why the fan always runs at full speed but Satellite M30X is around 2 years and I guess it's time to clean up. The second thing can be your new HARD drive.
It is also possible that new HARD drive produce more heat and sensors to register it and don t stop the cooling fan.

I recommend you to professionally cleaned the unit and remove any dust inside the unit. I'm pretty sure that cooling fan does not work at all times.

Also try to put the laptop into a slightly higher position (if possible at the back) and on this brand more interspace between the bureau and the cooling grill fan in the lower corner of your laptop.

Hi guys can all help to repair my Toshiba Equium A100 - 02 k model, it stops automatically every 15 minutes by overheating.
It started after me using compressed air to clean my laptop. I don't know why something went wrong on the inside when I used compressed air to clean near the fan at the bottom of my laptop.

could someone suggest me wat I can do in this situation, should I open the laptop and change the fan or is it possible.
If I have to open so please let me know how to do this.

    Thanks and greetings

    Hello!

I think that this question can be easily answered: the fan must be exchanged if it s does not.

Of course you can do it by yourself, but disassemble the laptop is a bit tricky and you have to remove a lot of screws and parts. I put t know if you have enough experience to this
If this isn't the case, you can contact the nearest authorized service provider. Technicians can do for you and on the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:

  • Satellite A300 - 1-3 - question on CPU Fan

I have a Toshiba Satellite A300 - 1 3, recently I had problems with my laptop in which the laptop suddenly stops working, when I checked the forum, I was advised to clean the cooling system, which I did and all is now ok; recently, I noticed that CPU fan stops momentarily, then back to work, is this correct?

If this is not the case, what should I do, should I replace the CPU fan? Or what?

As far as I know CPU fun is running automatically and it will run when this is necessary so that the fan behavior is nothing unusual.

If your laptop works well and, after cleaning, you didn t notice any more close I think that everything is OK.

  • Satellite Pro L40 PSL4BE starts no - HDD + CPU fan is not

    Hello

    I own a Satellite Pro L40 - 17F (PSL4BE-00R005EN).
I've been running the system on the current for a while now.
I decided to remove the battery to avoid damage.
Last night, I accidentally pulled the addapter at the back of the laptop. Since then; the machine won't start.

I noticed that the HARD drive was not making the usual noises. Then I realized was not the CPU fan is spinning.
Nothing appears on the screen, not even the start menu.

The only things that do not seem to work are the DVD player & power light!
I had the back of the machine off; I didn't see any obvious reason for the problem.

I'm looking for a second opinion on what is happening with it, and if it can be fixed without having to buy a new motherboard.

    Thank you. Dan.

Hmm. possibly, there is nothing wrong with your motherboard.
Try this common workaround that has helped me in such cases.

Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Leave the laptop for about 30 min and after this short break, put the battery in the laptop and connects to the AC adapter.

This short procedure helped me to sort a similar g and strange question.

I hope that you will succeed if you please post some results.

  • 850 - 009na M1Z34EA #ABU: CPU fan for the 850-009na feel like Phoenix does not turn down after the power - on self test unless the BIOS is entered

    Hello

I have posted responses to other posts on this topic, but thought I'd start a new thread to gather my conclusions. I'm sorry for a trial

This PC is virtually brand new (only a few weeks now) and otherwise perform exceptionally.

Basically, if the machine is disconnected from the power grid (i.e. the power is off at the plug or the power cord removed), when the machine is supplied then the CPU fan turns over 2000 rpm and stays there. All the other PC that I do this too, but the fan will slow down after turning upward. I know that this is done as part of the POST to check that the fan is running.

If I go into any installation of seed, start-up or BIOS for example (i.e. by pressing ESC or F10 etc.), the fan will slow down immediately up to 700 rpm. It will stay like that until the next time the machine is started against the cold. If I shut down the PC - watch or stop - but do not cut the power supply, then the next time the machine is started, the fan is still about 700 rpm. It is not to turn up to 2 k + RPM when lit.

As soon as I unplug, then the next time the PC boots, it will turn to the top and I have to repeat steps - off, boot, enter the BIOS, exit and continue. It is something to do with the cold start.

Note that I don't have to do anything in the start menu - I for example go to the BIOS settings, exit without saving the changes, and the fan will still slow. It's going in the boot sector that slows down the fan.

When the PC started out-of-the-box, I opted for the upgrade to Windows 10 during installation. I have read in various places that people had experienced after the upgrade, so I reset the machine to factory settings (Win 8.1) and have not upgraded, but the problem persisted. However convinces me that Windows 10 has been removed completely, as when I went to restore the backup image (i.e. dating back to what I had before the factory reset) there are references to 10 Windows (for example, it says 'Continue to Windows 10' as well as various food options). I do not understand UEFI so I don't know if that was involved.

I tried to change the power plan options "Processor power management-> cooling system strategy" on the liabilities side, but no joy there.

I think that the fan and sensors work, based on the findings below. These readings of temp and fan are taken from AIDA64

After starting cold (current was cut, without entering the BIOS), machine runs dry without load

Exactly the same thing--starting in cold, but go in the BIOS, do nothing and continue. Once again, no load

This is after power off and resarting, but to let the PC network

After the above, I used Prime95 to put the CPU support (use of 95-100%), and after an hour, the readings are:

Note that even so, the fan was not particularly strong, but it's at 2222 rpm as in the first reading.

If I play at 4K (the whole point of the PC ) the CPU so far got very warm, the GPU is but his fan turns up as planned.

In conclusion, it seems that the POST has a problem because it does not slow down the fan after the test.

I can live with let the machine always plugged into the sector (for example, most of the time) and I guess that's what most people do, but I would like to know what the problem is (for example if it's really something 10 Windows, or a bug in the BIOS/UEFI)

    Thank you very much!

    John

Explain you a lot of people who maybe have returned their system immediately because of this? Others might judge normal sound. Not irritable average is not coming here to complain. Others might judge her so little. They simply don't like. You will never convince me that is not a BIOS problem. As the problem resolves itself when you enter manually each time. It can be reproduced every time.

  • Tecra A9 - after CPU fan upgrade works constantly at full power

    Hi all

I have 3 Tecra A9 notebook that came with a Core2Duo T7100 clocked at 1.8 Ghz with 2 MB of Cache. Updated every 3 to a T7700 clocked at 2.4 Ghz with 4 MB of Cache. According to Intel, these two processors TDP is 35W. Books don't get really hot and not hot. The CPU FAN starts right full power after the display of the BIOS with the Toshiba Logo screen. Under Bios Version 2.1 on all 3 systems, having the same behavior on all 3 systems. CPU properly recognized under Windows XP, Win7, and Win10. Is it possible to get the adjusted to normal CPU fan? The system isn t is hotter than upgrading the CPU, just for some reason any BIOS has now decided the fan must operate at full power. I even traded one of the CPU Fans with that of a Tecra A10 notebook but had the same effect as with the original fan. Having no idea what I could do. I hope for your help!

    Best regards

I think that needs calibration to be performed to configure the table of fan speed.
Toshiba Service Center to do this.
