CPU latency

I'm trying to find a definition of the time of latency (measured in percent) found in the CPU graph options in ESXi 5.0.

The "description of counter" suggests "the percent of the time, the virtual machine cannot run because it is suitor for access to the physical CPU", which sounds very similar to the CPU Ready description that suggests the "percentage of time that the virtual machine was ready, but could not get scheduled to run on the physical processor.

However, in my remarks, the latency of the CPU and CPU Ready move together.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks, Liam.

There are 4 States of CPU. At least according to the white paper of vSphere CPU scheduler 5.1 :-)

Here is my understanding. Correct me if I'm wrong.

4 States above gives 100%.
100% = RUN + READY + % % WAIT CSTP

When adding first, a virtual machine is RUN or in a READY State according to the availability of a physical CPU at the level of the ESX layer.

A virtual machine in the READY State is distributed by the vmkernel CPU scheduler and goes into State of EXECUTION. In the executing State, the virtual machine is served by the hypervisor and can do what it is supposed to do. Latency of loan & CPU CPU are similar
Latency: % of the time the VM cannot run because it's supported for access to the physical processor.
Loan: % of the time that the virtual machine was ready, but could not get scheduled to run on the physical processor. [e1: this is the total of all virtual machines in the ESX]
So it seems that the loan is after the latency time. Latency will go up first, as the favorite NUMA kernel might not be available, ready will follow when it has no basis available to all.

It can be later off planned by vmkernel and enters a State LOAN or COSTOP. Co Stop happening if the virtual machine has > 1 vCPU and one of them is waiting for the other. Waiting happens because ESXi has insufficient physical CPU to serve. That's why you should right the size of the virtual machine. RDY % include % MLMTD, which is VM was ready to run, but has not been scheduled for time CPU due to the limit. You should not use Limit.

The VM has stopped is launched jointly by the suite and enters the READY State, which is ready for use. So ready time does not include the time to stop Co. You need to measure them both.

A virtual machine in the executing State may enter a WAIT state. Normally, it is because he is waiting for a resource and woke up later once the resource is available. It is normally the work of IO, such as waiting for a disc to return control of the table.

When a virtual machine is idle, not to intervene, between WAIT_IDLE, a particular type of the WAIT state. So it's not actually not waiting for what it is. A world of slow motion is awoken whenever it is interrupted.

WAITING also includes % SWPWT, which is CPU waits VMKernel swap memory

    $stat = "cpu.latency.average".

    $esx = get-Cluster-name $Cluster | Get-VMHost

    $CPU_contention = (get-stats - $esx - $stat - Realtime Stat entity - MaxSamples 1 |) Measure-object-propriete value - average). Average

  • Oh, the irony? High DPC latency with idle CPU - gives more stable, more low-latency DPC CPU usage 100%

    Just like in the title,

I tried everything, disabling components, elimination of most of my RAM, update BIOS and loading failsafe and optimized defaults, etc. - and one thing I noticed is that Prime95 running x 64 on all hearts eliminates the peaks high in 1.2.0 DPC latency checker. Audio stuttering, what original research for corrections me, brought me to DPC latency checker.

It's really strange that the 100% CPU usage would cause the DPC latency stabilize (mine hovers around 350-450 microseconds in the full use of the CPU, but in use slowed parameters or moderate apparently something causes a DPC peak at ~ 4100us max).

Let me know if you figured it out!

  • Firepower - High CPU and latency

    Hey

IM under firepower with a 5555 X. The FireSIGHT console to manage using.

When sending one of our internet connected interface through the CPU power of fire leaped up 25-30% on the SAA and the latency rises with 40-150ms.

I need to know what is the cause, Cisco licenses is expensive and I didn't know HW would pose a problem.

The problem is worse when traffic increases. When you reach 600-700mpbs the ASA thus removes the packages.

    Thanx.

You are very lucky if you can push 600-700Mbit/s through the FP module in your X-5555.
With functionality STROKE and IPS, it is evaluated to 450Mbit/s, yet further with the URL and the amp on.

If you need the functionality of the ASA, you should go with either:

    SSP 5585-X 40

  • Stroke of lightning & CPU performance

    Hello world

Sorry if this is a newbie question:

I think to buy an audio interface of stroke of lightning and I saw that the main advantage is lower than firewire/usb latency.

    My question is:

Thunderbolt leads to a performance increase in Logic Pro? Sense that may have multiple channels most plugins etc before overload?

Or is it only the lag time? Is there an increased global buffer size 1024 leading to increased performance or it reaches only a lower latency to the same buffer size?

Only if you are in real time of recording, or output in real time, 16 + channels at the same time, you bolt would have shown no benefit. A USB 3.0 drive will work fine.

Player that improves performance recording and playback in a certain measure. The rest is CPU/GPU/RAM. You won't see LPX better work together while plugging a drive you bolt. Unless you have really huge projects and a mixer 24 channels run all channels for live recording.

    Hello

The CPU temperature depends on the use of the laptop and so it s not easy to say what would be the value of the ideal temperature.

According to this site of specification Intel CPU T5500 CPU temperature could affect up to 100 ° C
    http://processorfinder.Intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL9SQ

But of course the internal CPU for laptop is much lower.
Running common applications temperature could increase to 50-60 ° C

  • Satellite A100-998: Audio of abandonment/glitch when CPU fan starts / stops

Hi, I have had some problems with my streaming audio, as well as the inputs and outputs. I have read several posts on these forums of users who have the same problems, but the positions were closed without a resolution on an appropriate fix. These posts are also more than 1 year.

The problem is that I'm an audio glitch when the cpu fan starts and stops. I updated to the latest version of the bios and installed all the latest audio, display and network drivers. and the problem is still there.

I was my latency of the surveillance system and stop systematically various devices to try to locate the cause, but the problem still persists.

Previous discussions of the forum on this subject suggest we find a solution by changing drivers processor ACPI to standard PC that will, among other undesirable things, keep the fan on constantly elimiating the seeds. I think that this is not an appropriate solution.

As all other forum threads have been closed for more than a year, can anyone help me with a solution to this problem.

    Thank you.

As you know, it is only a user forum and you won't encounter technicians Toshiba here. This is why the solutions posted above was provided by individual users and may be true, but who knows if it would satisfy every user unique is only an idea and suggestion.
I think you should communicate with ASP in your country for a notebook check possibly technicians could provide another solution that would suit everyone

  • Internet latency Internet connection / Intermittent

    Hello

This is the first time using a forum to debug one of my computers. I am ready to provide all the necessary information, but if you need something that special, you may need to tell me step by step what you want. I'll give you more information as soon as I get home.

In any case, here's my problem: I got a new computer that once to the top and runing worked beautifully in my rental house. About 1-2 months after we moved in the street (literally 2 houses down) and once I have configured my computer problems are beginning to be obvious. Latency is horrible when you connect to the internet, my CPU running at 50-90% usage (there is no indication in the task manager that uses the CPU) wermgr.exe revolved constantly until I disabled it (when he was running, he never showed any USGA CPU), my connection with the default values of the router to 10 bits/s, when I force him to 100mps duplex full connectivity fails or the latency increases.

The desktop configuration is the following: 2 computers--> SMC router--> cable modem

1 computer is my wife (a non vista PC) which connects very well with no problems and gets speeds of transfers of 500 members (as is expected of Comcast cable).

What I've done so now trying to solve this problem: Vista will completely to dated, Ad aware of analyses (found nothing), analysis (found nothing), updated antivirus my ethernet card drivers, power manager updated drivers up-to-date, stop system of windows error reporting, tried new cables ethernet, reset the router, Manager of tasks of montiored for actiivity file unusual (nothing to report) and tried Windows Vista error setting suggestions.

I'll give you more information, but it is to get people thinking about this problem. My computer is an AMD Phenom II x 4 940 Porcessor 3.01 Ghz, 8 GB of ram, NVIDIA Geforce GTX 280, nForce card Ethernet 10/100/1000 and Barricade SMC 7004VBR router.

Currtently online game is impossible and normal surfing of the internet strainingly latent.

Hope someone has some ideas for what to do. I think then try CCleaner or try a factory reset.

To reset the stack TCP/IP go to this article and either click on "Fix it for me" or follow the instructions to fix it yourself:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/299357

    Disable the IP helpdesk:

1 hold the Windows key and type R, type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press enter
    2. scroll down to the IP assistance service, right-click on it and select Properties
    3. in the drop-down list box that says "Automatic" or "Manual", set it to disabled and then click 'apply '.
    4. then click on "Stop" to stop the service from running in the current session
    5. click on OK to exit the dialog box

    Disable IPv6:
Try to uninstall IPv6 on all interfaces, the removal of virtual cards of IPv6 and reset the TCP/IP stack. To remove the IPv6, go to the properties for each network adapter, and deselect the check box next to the Protocol "Internet Protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6), which will turn off, or select it and click on uninstall, which withdraw power off the computer.» Then go into Device Manager and remove any 4to6 adapters, adapters miniport WUN or tunnel adapters.

NOTE: You should do this for each network connection.

    Disable the DHCP Broadcast Flag:

    Link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233
Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
322756 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/ ) how to back up and restore the registry in Windows

Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or some non-Microsoft DHCP servers
To resolve this issue, disable the DHCP BROADCAST flag in Windows Vista. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\ {GUID}
This registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the card network that is connected to the network.
On the Edit menu, point to new, and then click DWORD (32-bit) value.
In the new area #1, type DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle and press ENTER.
Right-click DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, then click on modify.
In the value data box, type 1 and then click OK.
    Close the registry editor.
By setting this registry key to 1, Windows Vista's trying to get an IP address using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets. If that fails, he will try to obtain an IP address without using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets.

The only program that I'm aware of that currently relies on IPv6 is the new Windows meeting space. The first 2 changes will cause this program is not to work - but all of your normal (IPv4) connections will leave unaffected. If it causes problems that you can't overcome, simply go back to the original settings.

    To clear the DNS cache:
Click Start, type cmd in the search box, and then click cmd in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
Once at the command prompt, type ipconfig/flushdns

great that you have found my guide on phpcs.com :)

The HECI.sys driver is part of the Intel(r) Management Engine Interface, so update, please.

For the usbport question, remove the USB external hard drive and update the driver of the motherboard.

Also install the Sp2, you always use the Sp1.

    Best regards

  • Windows 7 sound crackling while playing music and do something ELSE who chews CPU.

    The problem:

OK, the problem is when playing audio I have meet a crackling if ANY operation requiring the use of the CPU, as minimal as is. For example, when using Media Player or MediaMonkey if as I scroll through my 10,000 songs while playing a song, the music starts to Crackle terribly and only becomes worse if I do something requires more juice for example opening a program or even Firefox. In addition, when you watch videos online, YouTube for example, I hear the crackling unless that maximize the video to full screen. Even if doing nothing just by watching the video, it will play not clearly without be maximized to full screen.

    Corrections have already tried:

Of course, the first thing I did was uninstall and re-install the drivers. Then make sure that they were more current and compatible Win7. Then, I tried to disable all processes except for those organized by Microsoft. Then, I tried to disable the network adapter. Then I downloaded a latency checker and it ran. It stings whenever I do everything that uses the CPU so this basically just confirmed what I already knew that it is some kind of problem with the memory or the CPU during audio playback usage. Finally, I bought a new Creative Live sound card that is compatible Win7 and abandoned the Realtek edge. Still having the same problem.

    My specs:

    Windows Ultimate 7 32 bit 7600 build

Creative SoundBlaster Live 24-bit sound card

    2 GB of Ram

Pentium Dual Core 2.2 ghz processor

I know that my system is not too far above the minimum requirements, but everything worked perfectly with Vista and it takes care of everything including the games important enough such as WOW and C & C without any problem whatsoever, including sound problems. As I said, it is only a problem when listening to audio and trying to do something ELSE. Tried everything. Will be eternally grateful for any help!

    PROBLEM SOLVED!

After months of trying to get this problem resolved I finally thought to it today. I found a YouTube video about hardware acceleration that made me think that this cannot be an audio problem at all; and it was not. The problem was that my graphics card is not good enough to deal with the high demand for Win7 Aero. Although the GeForce 7300 THE I use runs the Aero settings and allow me to play the current games that require directx 9 or higher, either the card or my PC (or a combination of the two) has not enough umph to run Aero themes and still provide a smooth audio playback using other features that require system resources. It also fixed my problems with YouTube and other online videos choppy playback while not in mode full-screen! So, thank you all for the useful suggestions that finally led me to the source of my problem!

    Best regards

    Tony
