CPU Maximum frequency never exceeds 31%, even under load.

Windows 7 x 64 runing. Brand new X 220, less than 24 hours old. All windows updates have been applied, etc.

Power settings Windows resource monitor reports that the maximum frequency of the processor is 31%, regardless. I plugged on current alternative and have set the profile for maximum performance. I am running Prime95 on all four cores. No effect.

CPU - ID confirms it, the speed of the CPU to ~ 790 Mhz whatever the load on the CPU of the declaration.

I searched google and the forums and found a thread on the R/L series forum where people have had the cpu, the opposite problem was always running at max frequency: here it seems that their cause was raised by staff. It worries me...

Looks like speedstep does not work in win7x64

Is it just a display issue or is the CPU without limitation correctly?

Thanks for any help.

SOLVED

The adapter using my old thinkpad 90W CA solves the problem. The simultaneous use of the dough and the 60W also solves.

Apparently, my initial forum search wasn't very good, I found a close a few pages on the forums theme that connects to a long debate which essentially suggested these two things.

Thanks, sorry for the pointless post.

  • Serious problem with CPU 'maximum frequency.

    Hello

    I have a problem with my W510.

    I think that this problem has been around since I bought it, or at least for a month or two after I bought it.

    When I plug the power in, or out, it almost always affects maximum frequency of the processor, as seen in the Windows 7 resource monitor, as well as a program called CPU - Z which shows in fact the current speed of the base.

    When things work correctly, the basic speed is slightly more than 3,000 Mhz.

    However, this speed changes whenever I plug the power inside or outside.

    Usually, it changes for the worse when I plug IN power!

    Often, to plug in, the speed drops to about 1 000 Mhz. Then I Plug - and the speed goes back to 3 000 Mhz. Rebranchez_ the - 2 500 Mhz. out Plug - rest on 2 500 Mhz. Plug in French - 1 500 Mhz. out Plug - 2 500 Mhz. Plug in French - 3 000 Mhz. get out - 3,000 Mhz, etc.. Every once in a while, it even drops to 300 Mhz.

    It seems to be arbitrary and random. Sometimes, it takes me 10, 15 and even 20 times connect the power out and back in to run to 3,000 Mhz.

    The machine is new, there is no fan noise, and anyway, the changes are directly correlated to plug and power in and out and that they never occur themselves - is certainly not overheating or something like that.

    Also, I don't think it's a problem with the power itself, as happens to me in different countries and different places, and in any place if I try to re - plug power enough times - it will eventually be resolved (so of course that there is enough power).

    Is there someone who knows this problem? Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    I found that Throttlestop help me with my own problem speedstep. Speed moves much to light use because of speedstep, but when I use a cpu benchmark to load four hearts they set to max speed and do not move. You can give it a try.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite A300-17N - the CPU multiplier does not change under load

    Hello

    I have Toshiba Satellite A300-17N. Yesterday, I noticed that my CPU does not change its multiplier under load.
    I have used programs like premium 95 and Orthos CPU load and programs such as CPU - Z and Everest.

    The multiplier blocked on 6 and do not change its value.
    Under load the multiplier should change its value to 13, but it didn't happen.

    In this case my CPU works on 798 MHz (133 x 6) 1732 MHz (13 x 133) instead.
    I will be grateful for any advice.

    Hey Buddy

    I put t know what you are talking about, and I don t know if you're up-to-date on CPU technology but the laptop was equipped with the Intel Pentium Dual - Core T2370 processor.
    I recommend the Intel page on Intel Dual-Core T2370 properties.

    This processor supports Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology.
    Do you know what it is?

    Here is a short info from the Intel page:

    + Enhanced Intel SpeedStep technology allows the system to dynamically adjust the frequency of voltage and core processor, which can translate into a reduction in average energy and decreases heat production average. +

    I think it should be clear now.

  • ORA-01450: length maximum key (6398) exceeded in 12 c but not 11g

    Using this piece of code in a base of 12 c or 11g with character set AL32UTF8 yields different results:

    CREATE TABLE dunc_test (col_198 VARCHAR2 (198 CHAR), col_200 VARCHAR2 (200 CHAR));

    -Works
    CREATE INDEX ix_dunc_test1 ON dunc_test (NLSSORT (col_198, 'NLS_SORT = BINARY_CI'))

    -Fails in 12 c only
    CREATE INDEX ix_dunc_test2 ON dunc_test (NLSSORT (col_200, 'NLS_SORT = BINARY_CI'))

    Is this a bug in g 11 or 12 c? According to the doco, I suspect 11 g is more lax.

    OK, I found the reason. It is the side effect of activate varchar2 (32 k) (max_string_size = extended).

    The length of the key to a functional index on NLSSORT (for a ranking non - UCA) is calculated as MIN ( * 8 + 10, ).  If max_string_size = standard (11g behavior), maximum BRUTE size is 2000 bytes and an index on NLSSORT key is never longer than 2000 bytes and does never exceed the limits of index key for 4 k and large blocks. If max_string_size = extended (new 12 c), maximum size of RAW is 32767octets. With VARCHAR2 (200 CHAR) in AL32UTF8, the length of the column in bytes is 4 * 200 = 800. According to the formula of the length of the index key, you get 800 * 8 + 10 = 6410. Beyond 6398 bytes maximum indicated in the error message to your 8 tablespace block size k.

    According to the needs, one solution might be to create a tablespace with 32 k block size. The maximum size of key index within this tablespace is 26510 byte (Linux x 64). This gives you the maximum column (26510-10/8) bytes length = 3312 bytes = 828 AL32UTF8 characters.  You cannot index the columns more linguistically if max_string_size = extended.

    Note a difference in the behavior of NLSSORT: 11 g or if max_string_size = standard, if an ordering generated key does not fit in a buffer of size with the formula above, it is truncated silently, giving inaccurate results (indeed, the key to ranking is calculated for a prefix of the string). In 12 c with extended = max_string_size, ' ORA-12742: failed to create the key to ranking "is reported instead. We blocked the ability to create a snack imprecise when keys max_string_size = extended in the future to use the rating feature sensitive with specific mechanisms such as primary key constraints.

    In summary, this is an architectural limitation, not a bug.

  • Maximum frequency of RAM to Satellite C650-1CC

    Hello

    I want to buy RAMs again, but I know Don t, how is the maximum frequency, which can use my cell phone. If he isn´t no need to buy a RAM with frequency with 1600 MHz for example.
    Now there's the Rams with 1066 MHz frequency.

    Thanks for the reply

    Satellite C650-1CC (PSC08E-03H006CZ)

    According to specification for laptop, your laptop can be upgraded up to 4 GB. For the moment, there must be 3 GB inside and one of the modules is 2 GB. Only thing you can do is to get the same second RAM and use 2 x 2 GB. It must be DDR3 1066 MHz (PC3-8500).

    You must use the identical two Rams and you will have only a few compatibility problems.

  • Maximum frequency in resource monitor

    In Task Manager, Performance tab, button resource monitor, which is the "percentage of the maximum frequency" and is related to the Turbo Boost?

    I have a 3.4 GHz quad-core i7 with Windows 7 64 bit.  The percentage of the maximum frequency is usually 103%, but sometimes it's 102 or 101.  I downloaded an Intel program that displays the status of the Turbo Boost.  I had all four cores running, so the Turbo Boost was 3.5.  The Max Freq 103%, and being about 103 percent of the 3.4 3.5, I think that showed the Turbo Boost.  But I ended up some processes, the Turbo Boost has increased, but this percentage is not gone - in fact, he came down.  So, what's the percentage of frequency and is related to the Turbo Boost?

    Hello

    You can not push beyond a certain point and some variance is scheduled. Check with
    Intel, documentation and community support. It's really a hardware problem and
    not directly related to Windows so that you ask the right questions however in the wrong
    places. A person fully familiar with your processor and your hardware can give you

  • VMWare Workstation 10 - jerky and unresponsive under load. [UPDATE: DisplayFusion cause possible] [SOLVED: DisplayFusion parameters]

    I have a problem with some VMWare Workstation customers, which case the mouse and keyboard to the virtual machine stops responding for a second or two under load. The mouse cursor stops, or jerk around the screen, and once past the load will be generally shot in another part of the screen. Similarly, the keyboard will become unresponsive, but when the load goes it will tend to double/triple type characters have been typed during the slow down.

    I use these virtual machines primarily for programming and a good example of the guest being "under load" is when I am compiling; It is a heavy load of CPU and i/o load.

    Two 64-bit Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 comments behave in this way, even if a Windows 2003 R2 plu prompt does not work.

    The virtual machines are configured with 2 GB or 4 GB, which is set to adapt to the host (who has much free). Virtual machines and disks are on one of the the two SSD drives. They are both configured to monitor several. In both cases, there is a virtual primary 60GB, preeallocated and no split disk and a virtual disk of 10 GB, allocated in advance, do not divide and define it as independent.

    I tried a number of settings, including having acceleration 3D on and out, manually replacing the CPU virtualization settings in VMWare and I tried all the following settings (together) and of which none have solved the problem:

    svga.vramSize = 134217728

    mainMem.useNamedFile = "FALSE".

    sched.mem.pshare.Enable = "FALSE".

    prefvmx.useRecommendedLockedMemSize = 'TRUE '.

    mainmem.backing = 'swap '.

    insulation. Tools.Unity.Disable = 'TRUE '.

    If I connect via RDP to these machines, rather than using the workstation console, I do not understand the problem and there is not any particularly notable slowdown in performance

    I had this behavior earlier in 9 work stations, but the upgrade to 10 did not make a difference.

    Someone at - it recommendations for investigating or fixing this problem - it renders useless VMs for software development which is their main purpose?

    Well, it would be good to try to check the memory and hard drive for problems. It could be one of those who has devloped a fault and the origin of the problem. Definitely worth checking them out. Here is a link to help you do test the hardware using a program called ultimate boot cd.

  • dv8315nr falls to battery that plugged while, especially under load

    Have the dv8315nr and keeps it from battery while that hip, especially when the PC is under load, such as games or using the CD player.  The power supply is ok, it has been tested with the other blocks of power and the problem still occurs.  If you disconnect the power from the pc and plug it in again, it (most of the time) is in a State of charge.  I sent to hp under the extended warranty and they sent returns with the diagnosis of "battery was bad, necessary new battery"... and it worked fine until just out of warranty then started again. "."

    I don't think it's the battery, as it happens with or without the battery (of course it dies completely when the power goes down without a battery in).

    Has anyone experienced this and if so, have a method to fix it?  I suspect that there is a hardware problem with the power supply in the laptop.

    Sounds like the beginning of a bad decision. This is the place where you insert the adapter into the laptop. The problem is very common and requires installing a new plug. Fortunately for you, the dv8000 has the power supply as a separate plug-in module... it does not solder just removal and replacement.

    This is an internet ad for a company that performs the repair. I do not pretend you hire but they post photos of the internal workings of the series dv8000 so you can understand what I write you about. The repair work is only moderately difficult; not nearly as bad as if weld was necessary. The part is readily available.

  • 10gr 2 - gathering Stats under load

    Location:
    I have a process of long-term changes, inserts a large amount of data to a small subset of tables. Unfortunately, due to the volume of work, statistics on these tables becomes obsolete while the job runs. Then, the performance degrades considerably and still more missed work.

    Proposed action:
    While monitoring the process, I think about a task that brings together his stats on out-of-date objects in the schema because they become obsolete it means stats being collected on objects while the records are inserted/updated.

    By focusing only on objects whose statistics are out of date by using dbms_stats, the process is much faster than running it on all objects in the schema.

    Question:
    Someone had susccess with the execution of his stats on an object while he was being inserted in? If so, what kind of questions (if any) did you run into?
    I try this with the hope that I can keep the 'fresh' stats while the long job runs. I know that sql gets invalidated when running statistics on an object, but I don't know how "big business ' that is." As testing and monitoring of this important process takes up some resources of manpower and time, I would like to some other opinions before I March off in that direction.

    Thanks in advance.

    Out-of-date statistics option is fine. But I suggest you to collect them just after full load.

    I'm surprised that you were never able to burn an 80 minute audio CD using iTunes.  But whatever it is, it's usually a good idea to keep the playlists to burn an audio CD for several minutes under the indicated maximum.  Less than 70 minutes would be a good idea.
