CQ50-NR215: bad recovery

This Compaq CQ50-NR215 continued to get slower over time. It was purchased at BestBuy and came with (2) "GeekSquad" recovery CD - as opposed to a Microsoft OS disk? The backup of my data, I went with Disk1 - which he said successfully did something with the partition. Second step was installing original software. He won this stage and gave ERROR 1005. After removing the CD, the laptop did not start, indicating that a device in the boot sector was not present.

It so happened that I had a CD of Vista operating system from another computer so I inserted the CD and tried to restart. After asking to fix/install windows (I chose install), he seemed fine. The welcome message appears & says "Prepearing your DESKTOP computer for first use. It starts very well, the user interface appears intact. The problem-

The WLAN light on the laptop which is red when this is turned off/blue when on remains-red & will not turn on. In the Device Manager, I can't find any network card. A section called "Other devices" is highlighted in yellow indicating a question - when you select other devices, a submenu appears, and the following list is present (see photo)

Coprocessor

Ethernet controller

SM Bus controller

Unknown device.

Download section of the HP driver, I downloaded what I thought, it is maybe the chipset suitable for a flash drive, then moved to the computer laptop & installed. Still nothing.

It was suggested that I be able to plug an ethernet straight cable from my router to the laptop and access than average internet - failed, no access.

My first impressions are that the CD I have installed from was designed for an older desktop computer, not having no internal not the software to make use of the wifi.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I can't believe so much is wrong with her, that she needs a few hundred dollars in a computer repair shop - when the value of this cell of aging is certainly lower than that.

You are the very welcome.

Try these drivers for the wireless card and the unknown device...

If three computers laptops hp of my family died in the same week (tbf time my parents had the virus and I have neglected my failing ram). I took them all better buy geek team because I didn't have the time to fix and my parents are under warenty.

All I wanted to do to mine was a complete system restore and wiping, already backed up all my data but my recovery partition has been altered and I don't have a recovery disk, a mistake I'll be sure to never do it again.

After that the best buy had it for a few days, that they informed me that I had to buy the hp recovery discs. I paid extra money for 2 days shipping, obtained records, took the best purchase and waited several days to be told that the discs are bad and I had to ask hp for replacements for the disks, I had no more than a week ago. So today I spent over an hour on the phone by train and failure to have a person to understand and give me a solution to what I thought was a fairly simple problem (everyone I spoke with was nice, but we had a problem with his microphone and I could hardly understand them).

Don't know what should be the next step, but I have been without my computer alone for weeks at this point and I seriously need to work.

    Hi Oniebeme,

    • Exactly when you receive the above errors?

    Step 1

You can run the checker system files (SFC Scan) on your computer and check if it helps you to fix the aid and support question. System File Checker analyzes all immediately protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions. This command may require access to the Windows installation source files. Follow the steps below to scan SFC on your computer.

    one.

Click Start and run, type sfc/scannow, and then click OK.

    b.

Once the scan is complete, restart the computer.
Note You will need the Microsoft Windows installation CD if the scanning utility cannot find the necessary system files.

Access the link below to learn more about Scan SFC.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747

    Step 2

If scan running SFC does not help, you can create a new user account and check if it works fine without error on the user account. If the new user profile on the computer works fine, copy data from the user of the old account to the new.

You can access the link below and follow the steps in the article to create a new user account and copy the data to the new account.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/811151

    Step 3

This behavior can also occur if the computer is infected with the Virus. I would recommend torun a virus online scan.

Access the link below and check if your computer is infected with the virus and delete the same.

    http://safety.live.com

If the steps above do not help, you may need to contact the Champagne and Dell technical support if you can get a Windows XP installation disc.

  • I have the recovery key, but when I try to use it, I said it's the wrong recovery key?

Please can someone give me some tips or advice to help me with this problem is annoying.

As I mentioned I saved my recovery key (RK) because I think it's a great tool, but when I tried to use it for the first time on my brand new computer, I was quickly told - bad recovery key. So I clicked on the "I lost my other device" to get one new/another one? RK, I put the key in the box only to tell the same story again? RK hard. What I'm doing wrong, I can't make heads or tails of it.

    Any suggestions would be grateful...

The link "I lost my other device" to reset the key of the synchronization only works if you have entered the user name and password of an existing synchronization account.

To find your key (must be device with synchronization already install)

    • At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Options
    • Select the Sync Panel.
    • Click on manage the account, then select my recovery key. It will open a window that displays your recovery key.

    To generate a new key

  • P10-304: matter of procedure strange recovery

I'm a technician + certified PC a customer brought the laptop (Satellite P10-304) to me after she had taken this back to the place she bought. They said she needed a new hard drive. I inserted the DVD of recovery for the A60 (is the only recovery DVD she brought with her) and image the laptop when he went at the start would go to loading windows, he would crawl to take 30 minutes to start. Something is happening with the hard disk transfer rate.

I think it's the hard drive controller OR there is some chipset driver not get loaded from the recovery DVD as it's the fake recovery DVDs. I used Windows XP Home OEM CD as well, but the same problem occurred.
    Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Hello

In my opinion, you are trying to recover the device with a bad recovery CD.
As you said you have a recovery for a Toshiba A60 laptop CD and the unit is a Satellite P10-304. These are two different workbooks and to retrieve the device you need exactly the right recovery CD.

I suggest contacting the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. Here, you can order the medium right of recovery.

    Good bye

    Hello

I'm doing a recovery on my G30 and have recovery G30 dvd but when I insert the disc all get them is a message saying - this recovery and applications cd is not configured to work with this machine (laptop).

This cd is for: Qosmio G30... Please use the correct CD recovery and applications.
However my computer is a G30, go figure?
Does anyone know what the deal is?

    Cheers, Thomas

It seems that you are using a bad recovery CD or is not compatible.
Have you used the recovery CD from Toshiba that came with the laptop?

  • 03-EEEE-0000 Recovery Disc Error

Bad recovery disk. I installed an OEM version and everything worked fine.

    Hello

When have you seen this error? He appears during the creation of the recovery disc or during execution of a process of recovery?

  • Tips for fixing of recovery media - X120e

Three attempts at recovery media burning for my X120e plant failed on verification to 70% with an unexpected error (rc = 9). On a cursory inspection, the DL-DVD seems to have completed the burn, but I don't want to not test this theory on my system.  The recover.ini in /recovery/ file lists the OS like WIN732, which does not match the OS for my system CTO. Is this normal? (I wonder if one) I have bad media or b) the wrong recovery partition was loaded on my system. Technical support told me that they cannot help me because my external dvd player is not Lenovo brand. My options seem to be:

    (1) drive buy a DVD external Lenovo (~ $80) and see if it does the trick, if it is not that it should fall under warranty because it is not a third-party player this time.

    (2) order a support Lenovo recovery disk (~ $ 45). This should do the trick.

3 buy another batch of blank DVDs and see if it helps, if not go with 1) or (2).

I'm a little hesitant to order a recovery disc right now, I am more particularly in the market for a larger DVD player. This would particularly be the case if the cause of the error is a bad recovery partition, because I believe that this should fall under warranty.

Any advice on how to proceed? More details can be provided as required.

    Kind regards

    RL

Hi rlpaper, welcome to the forum.

If you happen to have a spare hard drive that you can use for testing, (all data on it will be deleted), you might want to try test disks that you created by using them to install the player?  It is that also a good way to be 100% sure that the discs work.

Another suggestion, and it's my own private theory, you can try using CD - R and DVD - R media + or DL media?

  • dv6768se recovery problem

So, I'm trying to restore my dv6768se.  It was working OK, but I accidentally messed up the registry, and it would not play DVDs.  He played the first chapter and then stops.

I insert the recovery disk 1 and press F11.  I select restore from the disk, and formatting my hd and begins to restore.  It happens to disk 2, and 47%, it crashes with an error 0 x 4001100200001005.  So I hit ok and try again, this time by selecting restore from the hard drive.  It restores all right, but at the start of Vista, it gives me an error that it can't find wmplayersetup.exe.  I hit ok, and the Vista desktop appears.

I click on the Windows button and I see the headers for all folders (CV, interview, accessories, etc.) but all the folders are empty.

Am I right in assuming it's because when I tried to recover discs that he hung up, so the recovery partition has been created ever successfully?

I had to work today and checked.

Of course, it looks like it is working well. I guess it was just a bad recovery disk #2.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Recovered system - invalid product key

I just made a recovery, but it tells me that this product key is not valid. I used the Toshiba disc that came with the computer.
The Basic was originally on, but the recovery disc's premium. Where can I get a key from?

I'm sure that you use a bad recovery media. Each recovery image is suitable for each laptop model and the problem described in your ad can simply not happen.

What model of laptop you have exactly?

  • Satellite A60: lost "in touch with Toshiba' at the beginning upward

I lost the 'In Touch with Toshiba' at the beginning, so do not have the recovery disks. This was because using the diskette bad in the first place - we have three laptops from Toshiba!

Any suggestions? Turn on the computer and now F12 does not work.

As far as I know, if you use a bad recovery media he will not result with any critical damage. Maybe you can install but the OS does not start correctly.

I have to be honest to you and your ad is a bit confusing to me. You can start your laptop as usual? You can enter the BIOS settings? What happen exactly when you press the power button / stop?

  • [Spectrum XT] Encountered issue SMART Check

I just got this new ultrabook, for two weeks in and just yesterday, I started getting lockups and BSODS.

I checked the observer of events 7 and began to notice the newspapers mentioning:

The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not in the expiration time.

Fine, then I googled and found that it is related to intel rapid storage manager. I downloaded the utility of the website of intel (HPSF.exe stopped working, reinstalled and it has not found the related updates for my intel rapid Storage Manager).

Now after the update, the error log is gone, and he has been replaced by something more sinister:

The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block.

This article has appeared many times in the event window and fills constantly that I operate my ultrabook. Well, I reinstalled HP Support Assistant from the Web site and when I run the diagnostic tool, he told me that I had a SMART check the issue, and the player will die soon.

SIGH. It's been only two weeks and I came across THIS? I didn't sign up for this when I paid a thousand dollars for a superior product!

To add salt to the wound my recovery USB media I created did not work and I am doing a service center work recovery media.

I've already opened a ticket with chat online support and advice needed to run the diagnostic level BIOS, same result. Micron SSD is going to die soon.

What could have caused this? I selectively chose a ultrabook with SSD for its robustness, but it ends up being the first media who died on me! I'm certainly NOT happy about it.

I ran a number of other tests of another utility, namely one of them HDDtune and it signals more than 5000 bad sectors. I clicked on stop before he finished. I've seen enough of trying to know the reality of the situation.

The thing starts always quick and the BSOD stopped, but I get freezes from time to time, it started past yesterday.  Everything worked perfectly since I bought it so far! (with the exception of the creation of media USB bad recovery)

FYI, the ultrabook is running more hot that I'm comfortable with (sometimes), especially near the speaker grille. Is this normal? It is quite localized in the grid only.

The problem you are having is very rare. Disc SSD is very sturdy, but like any other electronic component, can go wrong. You have the SSD enlarge as the only storage, or drive combo of the WSSD Accelerator, then on a mechanical hard drive? In the first case, it wouldn't be difficult to detach the acclerator reader in the console of the IRS then replace with a new one and then reconnect this one. If you have an SSD enlarge it will mean replacement.
