CQ61-313US startup HP alert battery, main internal battery (601)
I have a CQ61-313US at startup I get HP battery alert, storage capacity of the main internal battery (601) low, remember to change - and it gives the website of HP.
I don't have CMOS issues that retaining the date/time.
My extended warranty company suggested I do the system recovery and if I still had the same error code, there may be something else wrong with my computer because I don't have CMOS issues. They show Compaq error code 601 being something with the drivers of the computer itself, not a battery problem.
So, when you're looking for batteries for my computer in the HP site - I just find the external battery bar - not an internal battery.
I did a complete system restore, still getting error... Help!
Hello
Yes, that's correct. Although the error seems to suggest the CMOS battery, it is in fact the battery located under your laptop.
Kind regards

Error message at startup time primary starter battery internal Battery (601).
What is the CMOS battery? A forum q / said they have a CR-2032 battery.
Is it the same thing for my laptop? & How to install it please?
Thank you
Hello
No, the message is a bit misleading, in fact the main battery. You must check the battery and replace if necessary. For the second question: Yes, BUT normally it is in a 'bag', in many cases, you need to replace the entire 'bag '.
Update: for your machine, it's not in a bag. Please see following page 4-46 of the Manual:
http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c02641840.PDF
(Manual tells you how to replace too).

601 error code is a bit misleading because it refers in fact to your main battery of notebooks - not the RTC cell on the system board.

Main internal battery (601)
My labtop windows 7 starts with this error message, primary (internal battery) 601. This means that I need to replace the main battery or there is another battery internally? Thank you all.
George yawHello
The 601 error refers to the main battery of your specifications and indicates the storage capacity fell below 25% of the original value.

This error is a bit confusing. At first glance it seems to refer to the CMOS/RTC battery but actually refers to the main battery to the laptop. Even if the computer indicates that the battery is at 100%, it would be a good idea to check that it is in working condition. I think that it is a good first step, because although it doesn't show 100% charge, you say the laptop does not work unless it is on current alternative. This paper addresses the issue further.
As indicated in the document, the HP Battery Check will be performed to determine if the battery is faulty.
To perform battery check do the following and display the result.
- Unplug the power cord and turn the computer off.
- Press on the button / stop to turn on the computer.
- Press the ESC key immediately seeing the HP or Compaq logo screen.
- The Start menu appears.
- Press F2 to select F2 System Diagnostics .
- Select battery Test in the list of diagnostic tests.
- Connect the power supply cable.
- Click Start Test Battery on the battery Test page.
If your battery fails this test, it will need to be replaced. To get a spare battery, you will have to contact HP Support. If you are in the USA / Canada you can call to the 1-800-474-6836. If you are located outside of this area, you will need to go to the HP support site and after selecting your country, search for "Customer Support" in the lower right corner to get contact information for your region.
I hope this helps!

Pavilion 13-b080sa: main (internal) battery HP Pavillion 13-b080sa
Whenever I start my laptop, I get an alert of battery (601).
I tried to perform the battery check, but that doesn't seem to work. It does not get one plus far only 1%, 2 minutes left. By pressing the ESC key to stop checking the battery does not either.
When I plug in the charger, the phone says: plugged in, not charging, which means that I can't use my laptop without charger anymore, which is really annoying.
I should also mention that my laptop is less than a year.
I hope that someone could tell me how to solve this problem. Also, if I need a new battery, where can I get one?
Hello
You are welcome.
Online checking is not always reliable, and if you know that the machine should be still under warranty, my best advice would be to call HP for this problem. Looking at the model number I guess you may have in the United Kingdom - if that is correct, the telephone numbers are on the following link.

15 u-010dx 360 touch screen: battery internal error: 601 on laptop HP 15-u010dx 360
My phone receives an error page indicating: internal error battery 601, will need to be replaced.
I had the laptop for less than a year and would like to know if this would be covered by a warranty of any kind, or how do I do to get this problem?
Thank you!Hello
The 601 error is actually a bit misleading - it refers to your main notebook lithium-ion and not the cell RTC (cmos) on the system board, as it seems to suggest. It usually begins to appear when the battery capacity when fell below 25% of its original value. Further details on this on the next Document in HP.
http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01443470
The battery will be covered under the same term as your laptop, so just contact HP and will make replace - if necessary, you can check the status of your warranty here.
If you live in the United States, contact HP here.
If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

Hello, I have HP Pavilion laptop g6 for 2.5 years and I started getting a message on Primary (internal) battery 601 stating that is is low capacity and will need to be replaced. Please, can tell me I still use it without problems when it is plugged. If not, then how to replace it. Thank you
Hello
Just to clarify, the 601 error relates to your main battery of notebooks (not the RTC cell on the system board).
If you are satisfied with the machine running on full power, there is no problem with that and you can just remove the battery.
If you do not want to replace the battery at a certain time, you can order a new through HP parts store or (and), just google the full model number of your laptop dv7 series including the battery of the term.
Kind regards

HP Pavilion dv7-1245 ca battery internal error 601. How can I change the battery
Hello
My laptop is a Pavilion dv7-1245.
It shuts down its own, and after a few minutes, she lights up and displays this error message when starting:
HP battery alert-
... your internal battery needs to be replaced...
Internal battery (601)
Sometimes, I need to start my car.
I bought it two years ago. I just program the hard drive a week ago, causing the original one crashed badly.
Could you please tell me what specific battery should I buy?
I read in another post for the Pavilion dv6 you just need to keep it pluged to replace intyernal battery like in a flaslight. Is it OK for my model?
I would also like to know if the problem to cut down on its own, it is linked with the battery warning or if it is another question.
Please notify. I use my laptop to work ar House, and I can't afford to buy a new one now.
Thanks in advance
Soledad

HP CQ61-313US posible memory upgrade configurations?
I have this laptop: HP CQ61-313US (with Windows7 64 bit) (card mother AMD = SKU: 577064-001)
Origin this model laptop has 3 GB (1 GB x 1 + 2 x 1 GB) memory DDR2 800 MHz PC2 6400 S.
Now, I would like to upgrade memory a little bit, and according to the specifications (manual booklet to print and pdf) it is (recommended?, recommended?, applicable only?) configurations of memory upgrade - here's the Manual:
2 SODIMM slots
Customer-accessible/extendable
PC2-6400, 800 MHz, DDR2
Supports dual-channel memory
Supports up to 8 GB of RAM, in the following configurations:
8192 MB (4096 × 2)
4096 MB (2048 × 2)
3072 MB (2 048 × 1 + 1024 × 1)
2048 MB (2 048 × 1).
2048 MB (1024 × 2)
1024 MB (1024 × 1).
As you can see only 6 GB isn't on the list, which is incomprehensible to me, particularly because you can combine 1 GB x 1 + 2 GB x 1 to get 3 GB, but not 2 x 1 + 4 x 1 for 6 GB GB GB as I would like.
So basically my question should be: is it possible to install 6 GB memory 2 GB x 1 + 4 GB x 1 on this motherboard despite the fact that it is not mentioned in the manual configuration?
If YES, then what configuration would be better: 6 GB (2 GB x 1 + 4 x 1 GB) or 4 GB (2 GB x 2)?
You are the very welcome.
I agree entirely with you suggestion.

Compaq Presario CQ61-313US: replacement of the CPU Compaq Presario CQ61-313US
I have a laptop Compaq Presario CQ61-313US VM367UA #ABA that I am refurbishing and it must have replaced CPU. It comes stock with a CPU AMD Anthlon II M300 and I wonder if I can replace it with a CPU AMD Anthlon II M340 since they are the two socket S1, 35W TDP and they were released at the same time, so I think that the firmware should support two processors. I build that several desktop computers and laptops repaired but I traded not portable CPU oout before any info would be appreciated.
I would say that you were right, because I have worked with several CQ61 CQ61 - 415st comes with this CPU.

4 keys does not work after water spilled on Presario CQ61-313US
After that a small amount of water is spilled on the keyboard Presario CQ61-313US 3 keys, E, D and C don't work at all. Tried spraying with air; no luck. Tried a shot of cleaning electronic; It still does not. I'm careful to try any more electronic vacuum, as it can dissolve the plastic. I found the manual online at the removal of the keyboard but... is this really the only solution?
Unfortunately Yes, he must disassemble the keyboard, let it dry or clean out then he try again. No software or drivers can help. I'm sorry.
Your computer is still under warranty? you have this protection against accidental damage? Chances are you have to pay for the service and which is about $400. Do it yourself and at the end of the day, maybe buy a replacement keyboard at a lower price.

Note before HP I've owned computers Dell laptops and desktops for many years and never had any failure like that. I am disappointed with battery the power and durability of the HP extermely machines.

HP Mini 311 - HP battery alert - main (internal) (601) - error at startup
I have a HP Mini 311-1037NR (the product number is VBM262UA #ABA). My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.
When I start my HP Mini 311, I get the following message:
HP battery alert
The system has detected the following battery storage capacity is very low. For optimal performance, this battery will need to be replaced.
Battery (internal) (601)
ENTER - continue starting
So my questions are:
First of all, what exactly is the problem here? After that I Googled, it would seem that the problem is NOT my external battery, but my battery. Which battery is need of replacement? Has it a name?
Second, is there a user guide out there that could help me with the process of replacing that someone can provide a link, or least send me the page that helps me? Is there a YouTube video (even better)?
Third, what exactly is the part number of the battery that needs replacement and exactly where can I get this (how much $$ it cost)? This issue is important because I can be able to know how to replace the battery, but without the possibility to buy a replacement battery, I'm still dead in the water.
Fourth, my HP Mini 311 dies just when I unplug the unit. A remedy for the above question will remedy this issue? I really enjoy using my little HP Mini's, I prefer to be able to use it without a power cord.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Tim
Hi Tim,.
No problem and it is certainly wise to check a response.
I would say that you posted your question to the correct Board. It is generally preferable just post once on the relevant map. I agree that the term "internal" causes unnecessary confusion.
Here is a link to your & Maintenance Guide.
Yes, I am sure that the 601 error code refers to the main battery of your laptops (602 is a failure code for machines that have a secondary storage unit). Interestingly, there is no code generated for an RTC battery fault - error or one in the diagnostic test built for her, than the usual symptom of the system clock reset after each stop.
There is also a document from HP about alerts on the following link starter battery.
