Create the Recovery Plan

Hello

I install SRM for the first time. It is with the 1.0 1.0.1 update 1 Patch 3 (build 154949) is installed. I have the software installed and configured. The reproduction of painting works and SRA can communicate with the hardware. My VMs are on the LUN replcated. I have implemented the Protection Group and you can see the dummy VMs on the remote site of the network and the correct resource pool. Everything is good so far...

Of course, the next step is to implement a Recovery Plan. When I run the wizard, I stop at step 2, there is no group of Protection listed for me to choose. What I'm negliecting to do! I don't see the error messages, which leads me to believe that miss me a step somewhere I followed the Administrator's guide.

TIA,

Julian.

Even if you create a protection group using the vCenter and SRM server on the side of your protection, you create a recovery plan in the vCenter Server where it will be executed.  If you need to connect to the Server vCenter site recovery to create a recovery plan for your production VMs - looks like you might be connected to the protection Server vCenter Server-side.

When you try to create a plan for relief on your protection server side, SRM believes you want to retrieve the virtual machines that run normally on the remote site.

  • After execution of the recovery plan, the Test is greyed out

I missed successfully test on 2 virtual machines running the recovery as part of our POC plan.  I have powered down VMS protected and recovery, initiated a resynchronization on the volume of SnapMirror and intend to continue to use the same recovery plan for additional tests.  However, the Test option for the recovery plan is dimmed (Run option is still available).  What I need to remove the stimulus plan and recreate a whenever I run a Run and not a Test?  It is a chore because I need to re-add the customizations (messages, orders), update priorities and so on.  I use SRM v4.1.1.

    Hello

You need to re - create groups of Protection that is pushed. Stimulus plans do not need to be re-created, but you will need to reconfigure to include recreated protection groups. All customizations related to virtual machines (priorities, orders, customizations) must be configured again.

It was a case in the 4.x versions, don't think that changed in 5.0.

    I posted this already in another thread, but I can repeat it;

I noticed that not all DVDs are compatible and sometimes it of not possible to burn the recovery due to the problem of DVD DVDs.
I put t know what DVD discs you use, but I had a good experience with TDK DVD-R.

So my advice is simple; Try different DVD from different manufacturers

  • Recovery disk for a T130: Re-create the recovery disk

    Hello

I own a Toshiba T130, white model that comes with Windows 7 x 64, 4 GB of RAM and a DVD player. I recently tried to install a Linux operating system through a process that is automated via a network installation (Shoemaker), which has actually wiped clean the hard drive before installing the system, contrary to my intention at first actually install it on a separate partition, along side windows!

It happens that (day 1, after having bought the laptop), I have already saved/stored the folder of HARD disk recovery (integer) initially placed on a second partition in Windows 7, on an external USB hard drive, but did not have a DVD or USB recovery media as it is recommended. The content of the file is as follows:

    + HDDRecovery
    + ODDFiles
    | + Start
    | + EFI
    | + HDDPREP
    | + HTMPREP
    | + Sources
    | + Tools
    + OriSetenv
    + Swing
    | 10347XSP.swm
    | 10347XSP2.swm
    | 10347XSP3.swm
    | 1034...
    | 10347XSP8.swm

I think that these files are what is needed to create a recovery media and I have a need to restore my computer to its original state and recreate my Windows 7 environment. After all, it is here where I get my work.

So, you guys don't know if I can build a support of restoring these files? If so, what is the procedure?

    Thank you very much
    Waiting for your response.

As far as I know is now too late for the creation of recovery disks. If I remember well in s manuals is clearly described that you can install OS using only two procedures: using installation of recovery of HARD drive or using created the recovery DVDs (connected external USB optical disc drive).

I'm 99.9% sure that the installation of the external HARD disk is not possible.

What kind of DVD that you use to create a Toshiba Recovery disk? I have tried Verbatim DVD-R and TDK DVD-R and never had a problem with these discs. A friend tried DVD + R and he couldn t create a recovery disk. After he tried DVD-R and everything was fine but I do not know why this happened.

I want to know how I can or if I need to create a recovery disk that will reset the machine to its original state.
The information gives instuctions on how to proceed for the Vista machines, but not for XP.

I know that I can recover from the hidden partition, but where this is not possible, I wish I could get CD or DVD.
There is a recovery CD included product that says only: "MS Windows XP" so I guess that it does not include drivers or Toshiba Software?

    Hello

You have preinstalled software Toshiba TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator?

    Please check this box.
Using the TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator you can create the recovery disk.

But if your laptop was already pre-installed with Windows XP and then a Recovery CD or DVD must be included.

Have you checked all of the items in the box?

    Hello:

You can try this and see if it works...

Use the product key (if you can still read all 25 characters of the product key for W7) on your PC case to install the operating system provided with your PC.

Here is the direct link to the Digital River Microsoft W7 x 64 Home Premium SP1 ISO file.

    http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-24209. ISO Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 English

Make sure you get the entire file to download.  Sometimes, he reports full download, but you don't have the file xx GB 3. any.

Then use either your option of the ISO to burn to the DVD burning program to burn the file on a DVD so that it is bootable.

Burn at the lowest speed as possible.

Or, use this tool to transfer the file to a Flash DRIVE 4 GB or a DVD.  This tool will also support bootable.

Then go to the support page of your PC to get the driver and software you need.

  • Create the recovery disk

I have a pavilion dv6 Windows 7 and he needs a reconstruction. It doesn't have a D: partion but I wanted to play it safe and to create the recovery disk set in case there was a problem with the drive D. I bought some Maxell dvd + R disc but are not accepted by this utility.

According to the utility I use either + r or - R disc, why did he not accept

    Thanks for any constructive help

Get your product number by pressing Fn + ESC key or check the Service tag on the bottom, may be under the battery.

Go to 'Support & drivers' at the top of this page. Enter your product number. After you enter the PN, click Next, then choose the software & Drivers. On the next page use the menu drop down to select your (probably Windows 7 64-bit) operating system. A list will fill with the drivers. Recovery media should be listed as an option to purchase, if you live in the United States / CA. usually around $17.

If a recovery media is not listed, use the link that I posted above to get the phone number. Often if you support your software fails to create the set they send a free of charge.

I can't refresh PC or create the recovery disk. He keeps going with error message "Cannot find the necessary files" and tells me to insert the recovery media. Hello

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I'll certainly try and help you in the matter of fixing.

To help you to propose measures to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1. Why are you trying to cool off the computer?

2 are you facing problems with Windows 8?

    3. how many accounts is configured in the computer?

You can scan the file system (CFS) auditor. This will replace the corrupted Windows files.

    Follow these steps:

    (a) start the desktop view.

    (b) open the command prompt, right-click in the left corner when the windowappears, and select prompt (admin).

    (c) type the following command and press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

You can also try to create a new user account and check if the problem persists.

If the problem persists, you will need the DVD to perform repair installation of Windows 8. If you download the installation of Windows 8 files, check your emails, there should be a link to download an ISO file. Download and burn the file to a DVD.

The DVD to perform the repair.

Hope this information was helpful and let us know if you need more assistance. We will be happy to help you.
