Creating Windows DVD stops working
I rely heavily on Microsoft DVD Maker, as I created it and burned more than 300 DVDs. Only until sometime last week (29 March - 3 April) an automatic update from Microsoft has prompted the download and installation and is the SP2. After downloading, it prompted a message before installing indicating "little of your programs will stop working." He never said what program and I don't think criticism main programs closing, installation, I continued. And, since my Windows DVD Maker is unusable.
Yesterday, I restored my computer to standard manufactured. During the installation of the Microsoft Vista operating system, without choice, I had to install with course Microsoft Updates, including service pack #2. Needless to say that the problem still exists. Apparently, Microsoft needs to release a patch for this problem as a result of its updates.

Creating Windows DVD won't finish burning
From: pafos
Problem - DVD burned with Windows DVD maker not fianalize Amend will be will not play back on normal household players
After spending a considerable amount of time and money (on blank media) trying to produce a DVD that will play on my Panasonic player normal, that I gave up. If you Google this problem there are a lot of people out there with the same problem then why not can it be 'fixed' once and for all by SM.
I tried to burn a slideshow of photo from Windows Live Photo Gallery, but she is spit out the disc at the end of 98.8%. R DVD plays perfectly on the PC but not the standalone player.
I even tried to change the types of burners and media, but they all gave the same problem. The disc is not finalized.
I can burn the DVD with the third-party software and these play fine, even, if I use XP pro, all is well so it's down to Vista I'm afraid. I have the latest version of Vista sp1 and all the drivers etc are up to date.
In view of the foregoing can recommend a decent software that will burn DVD properly with Vista AND produce photo jpeg slide shows?
Thanks in advance for any help

Aero in Windows has stopped working
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 2. Aero in Windows has stopped working. When this happened once before going to the control panel > change the color scheme and selected Windows Aero, but now this option is not listed. Checked the help and as advised checked my screen resolution and I saw 32-bit color, the verified value Advanced Configuration monitor and I saw this refresh rate is 60 Hz. Then forums got advice to run sfc/scannow and it came back and told me to Resource Protection Windows did not find any breach of integrity. Finally, taking advice to check that the graphics card by going to Device Manager but no device had anything by them which suggests that they do not work.

Hello
1. have you made changes on the computer recently?
Method 1.
Let us scan SFC and check that it prevents this error to occur.
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file.
To do this, follow these steps:
a. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
b. type the following command and press ENTER:
sfc/scannow
The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.
More information on SFC scan found in this document:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833
Method 2.
a. also, you can try again user account if the problem is resolved.
Create a user account
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/create-a-user-accountb. If the problem does not occur in the new account user set your user account damaged. The steps to fix the corrupt user account are given below.
Fix a corrupted user profile.

Backup Microsoft Windows has stopped working
I use an external hard drive to back up my files. The old backup files have been removed. Now when I try to back up my files, I get the message to create a new full backup. When I go into the settings and try to create a new full backup I get the message "backup of microsoft windows has stopped working".
The CheckDisk does not resolve the issue. However, I have solved my problem: create a new full backup on a disk separate trip then copied these files on my external hard drive, retried the backup by using the external hard drive and it succeeded. Everything should be OK now.

Windows Update stopped working.
I have the 64 bit version of Windows 7 SP1 installed on my laptop [Dell Studio 1747 with processor i7 4 GB RAM & 750 GB hard drive. Windows Update stopped working on my machine. All updates through April 19, 2016 have been installed. I already did the following:
(1) installed the previous images dating back to several months
(2) only run WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab to get error # 0 x 80070005 several times
(3) race reset Win Update.bat unsuccessfully
(4) run MicrosoftEasyFix20179.mini.diagcab without success
(5) I tried install subinacl.msi and runs the recommended Reset.cmd file
(6) installed WindowsUpdateAgent-7, 6 - x 64 .exe
All the latter were applied as suggested on the Microsoft Support Website. None of these maneuvers in addition to the various applications of my antiviral software and malware, brought any resolution of the problem. I would appreciate any suggestion short of a new facility, because I can't seem to find anywhere, all the new boards.
I don't know what worked, but Windows Update started to update itself again. What I don't have, though, was to limit the number of updates, I got the update at some point, less than 30. I read a post at one point noted that a large number of updates may increase the risk of errors of download and installation. I had some mistakes on the first download, but those corrected when I download tracking the rest of the updates. I do not wish that Microsoft would create a repair or update protocol independent site, because it seems that this is not an uncommon problem.

I've recently upgraded to a Windows 10 laptop and have had problems with iCloud. I can't access the photos at all - old hard drive Windows 7 accesses as before, except all my original photos (not Photostream - in folders) seem to have been deleted but it is now downloading Photostream when I activated my new laptop, but only back until June 2015. I'm trying to burn a DVD with Windows DVD maker. It is the fourth I've done and the previous ones were all OK.I can't burn the DVD, I tried both types of disc and made about 10 attempts today.
When I try to burn it starts OK then I get about 34% and get an error messageI had two different error messages, it says "cannot create the DVD error unspecified.". "
The other says "cannot create DVD catastrophic failure"As Akuma wrote, it can be a problem creating Windows DVD and has nothing to do with the functionality of optical disc drive. It is good to check the updates.

Have you tried to restore the operating system from the recovery CD?If this isn't the case, then do it. The whole HARD drive will be formatted and the recovery CD to install the image of Toshiba which contains the OS, driver, utility and software tools extra.
