Windows Update stopped working.

I have the 64 bit version of Windows 7 SP1 installed on my laptop [Dell Studio 1747 with processor i7 4 GB RAM & 750 GB hard drive.  Windows Update stopped working on my machine.  All updates through April 19, 2016 have been installed.  I already did the following:

(1) installed the previous images dating back to several months

(2) only run WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab to get error # 0 x 80070005 several times

(3) race reset Win Update.bat unsuccessfully

(4) run MicrosoftEasyFix20179.mini.diagcab without success

(5) I tried install subinacl.msi and runs the recommended Reset.cmd file

(6) installed WindowsUpdateAgent-7, 6 - x 64 .exe

All the latter were applied as suggested on the Microsoft Support Website.  None of these maneuvers in addition to the various applications of my antiviral software and malware, brought any resolution of the problem.  I would appreciate any suggestion short of a new facility, because I can't seem to find anywhere, all the new boards.

I don't know what worked, but Windows Update started to update itself again.  What I don't have, though, was to limit the number of updates, I got the update at some point, less than 30.  I read a post at one point noted that a large number of updates may increase the risk of errors of download and installation.  I had some mistakes on the first download, but those corrected when I download tracking the rest of the updates.  I do not wish that Microsoft would create a repair or update protocol independent site, because it seems that this is not an uncommon problem.

  • Windows Update stopped working on Vista (Ultimate). Error code is 80070005. Difficulty?

When I go to Windows Update and click on ' Check for updates ', the display shows "Windows could not search for new updates", than he has ever been a check for updates and have never been installed, but the latter is false, as I received it regularly until recently. Of course the possibility to connect to the updates server was lost. A part of the Vista operating system is damaged? Recently, I uninstalled McAfee and installed Norton Internet Security.  Installation of Norton were possibly affecting the ability to receive automatic updates?  What is the solution?

I also get a message that I am not currently connected to any network, but I am actually connected to my home wireless network.  This message seems to have surfaced at same time as issue updates resurfaced.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

I'm about out of ideas here. Since running the removal of McAfee and then tool reset Windows Update did not solve the problem, this leaves us with only two choices in my humble OPINION:

    1. one or more of the measures of protection in real time from NIS are intefering (assuming that NIS installed & working properly); or...

    2. you see the effects of a hijackware infection.

OPTION A: Contact the Support of Norton (Symantec).

OPTION B: Carried out a thorough for hijackware.

    Otherwise...

    1. see if you can download/run the MSRT tool manually: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not analysis FAST!  You may need to download the MSRT on an uninfected machine and then transfer the MRT. EXE to the infected machine and the rename it, for example, SCAN. EXE, before being able to execute it!

    2. run this online scan (in Safe Mode with networking, if necessary):

    http://OneCare.live.com/site/en-us/Center/whatsnew.htm

    3. now after the required logs in an appropriate forum for assistance by an expert in the field. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!

I can recommend the assistance of experts available in these forums: http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachinesforum/index.php?board=10.0, http://www.spywarewarrior.com/viewforum.php?f=5, http://www.dslreports.com/forum/cleanup, http://www.bluetack.co.uk/forums/index.phpand http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, good reputation and stand-alone computer (that is, not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) repair facility.

Good luck & please keep me on any progress you make.

  • Windows Update stopped working after the reactivation of Vista Ultimate 32 bit

Cloned hard drive bigger and replaced hard drive in your laptop. Everything worked fine until I was invited to reactivate Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit), I did over the phone. Now, Windows Update does not work - service is not active. Is this a known issue? Any suggestions to fix would be appreciated. Ran Malewarebytes, Turned off update automatic and then restarted (suggested in a forum), and tried to fix with installation disc, none of them worked again.

Five other updates have been installed with Windows Update Standalone install (an is not necessary for my system). This a better option than update mode without failure. Windows Update works now again.

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer recently?

    Method 1.
Let us scan SFC and check that it prevents this error to occur.

updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This
