cRIO PTP time sync: 35 second offset?

Hello

I'm new to the PTP Protocol, and I'm trying to synchronize the date and time between the 2 CompactRIOs and a GPS (a Tekron TTM 01-E) clock.

The PTP network comms work correctly: I can put 3 devices as master and the other 2 will follow his time. Especially, when I push the Philippe clock to be a slave, he will ignore the GPS value and track the value of cRIO.

However, regardless of which device is the master the cRIOs times will always be 35 s ~ before the time of Philippe. The 2 cRIOs will always be the same time.

Why could this be? How can I get rid of this shift?

I don't know whether a problem with cRIO generic PTP config or config. I've attached a screenshot of 2 desks if it provides clues. Any guidance/insight will be appreciated!

35 seconds corresponds to the current offset between time scales TAI and UTC. PTP usually use the time scale TAI, but not always. What is your device Philippe configured to report the time UTC when the master?

    If this is true NTP synchronization is a big correction of the date-time on the boot. After starting, it adjusts the processor clock to account for drift.  The algorithm has tolerance of error, but if you exceed this tolerance (i.e. If you're too far out of sync) it will stop trying to set the CPU clock to synchronize. Calling the Set Date & Time VI typically causes the clock to go beyond the tolerance of error algorithm. Is there a tolerance of error on the large correction also? I'm not able to get my system to sync on startup, so if the controller resets to zero, I'm wasting my time. Will there be a VI to query the server sntp in initialization and time setting here?

    If for some reason, I get to work with NIST but not on our servers. So, I am dealing with our network again. Thanks for the help.

  • Can I make a backup of my time on a second external drive capsule

    It is perhaps an exaggeration, but as I have a Seagate external drive, I thought it wise to make a second backup. Is there a procedure that I can set up to automatically duplicate what I save on my TC.

    I run a 27 inch mid 2011 iMac with the last OS of El Capitan. I use my Time capsule using the airport on 12 hours automatic backup.

    Can I make a backup of my time on a second external drive Capsule

    Yes, you can... but the procedure will not "auto".  Connect the hard drive to the USB port on the Time Capsule and use the Archives in the utility AirPort.

    This copies everything on the Time Capsule on the USB.

    Upside down... you have a copy of all of your backups on the Time Capsule. Downside... you must check manually... and... f there are problems with the backups on the Time Capsule, these same questions will be copied on the USB.

    IF... connect you the player to the USB port on the Time Capsule, rather using the manual function Archive... you don't have the opportunity to have Time Machine backup automatically at a time Capsule of time and the USB on the Time Capsule.  Time Machine automatically alternates backups from one disk to another.

    Even better, more reliable and much faster would be to connect the USB directly to your Mac and have Time Machine automatically backup the disk in addition to the time Capsule.

    There are other options of backup as well, but they would not be using Time Machine.

  • I have a problem with IBM Lotus Symphony - the program crashing several times every 5 seconds

    Original thread - I have a problem with IBM Lotus Symphony.  I am trying to edit a document, and I can't get any task done without the program crashing several times every 5 seconds.  What can I do to fix this?

    The program crashes every 5 seconds.  I started having this problem last night, but I didn't even know that first of all, there was a problem until today.

    Hello

    You receive an error message/code when you edit a document in IBM Lotus Symphony?

    I suggest to put the computer in a clean boot state and then try to open the program and check if it helps.
    Note: when you perform a clean boot, you may temporarily lose some functionality. When you start the computer as usual, the function returns. However, you may receive the error message, or you can experience the original behavior.
    How to solve the problem by running the clean boot in Windows 7:

    Note: once you have completed troubleshooting, perform the steps in the step 7: to reset the computer as usual.
    If the problem persists please contact the IBM Lotus Symphony support for assistance. See the link below.

  • loop 2 times in 15 seconds and on the third leg of the loop at 14 seconds

    Although I posted there is no answer 3 weeks ill try again. I need to work because how flash was killed a few weeks ago, that it's important enough.

    I found code that loops the banner I did 3 times and stops and I need a loop of 3 times and then stop before the last image. Here is the code that I have on the last image

    {if(!sym.) Loop)}

    SYM. Loop = 1;

    }

    SYM. Loop += 1;

    If (sym.loop < = 3) {}

    SYM. Play (0);

    }

    at 15 seconds (the last image in the banner), it works correctly in loop and by stopping on the 3rd loop. but when I try to move this code to 14 seconds and replace sym.play(1000) (0) by sym.play(1000) () and 15 seconds, I sym.play(1000) (0) loop it just forever.

    The reason why I need to play 14 seconds to 15 seconds before it goes to frame 1, it is that I the bland all the black banner before it goes to frame 1 so that it is a transition smoothly instead of a jump abrupt the last frame of the first. and of course I can't have the end of the banner on the 3rd loop in a black frame.

    So what I want, it's for the banner to loop 2 times in 15 seconds and stop the final loop at 14 seconds.

    put this to 14 seconds

    If (sym. Loop == 3) {}

    SYM. Stop();

    }

    I succumbed to send, any ideas?

    Thank you

    Hi Jim,.

    I have install time on another cRIO, and similarly, I was not able to use the IP address of time.windows.com (207.46.197.39) you used in your ini file. I was however able to change the IP address to the previous (132.163.4.103) and it worked correctly.

    I'll file a bug report on the time server Microsoft, to better understand why that might happen, but could post you as well as the 132.163.4.103 address can make it through your firewall?

    I'll also try to track down a cRIO-9022 and test your image; I'll let you know if I run into trouble.

  • Expired the incorrect time format the seconds

    Hello

    The attached VI maintains channels of the passage of time and I'm having a problem with the format in the second section. It gives me 3 digits and not properly counting the seconds.

    I would have only 2 digits for the seconds and the County properly under the name of 01, 02... 09, 10, 11... 59 (second section).

    Could someone suggest a change to the attached VI?

    Thank you

    FRN

    The reason that you do not see the correct number, it is that the value that you get out of the final Quotient function & rest isn't seconds and miliseconds.

    Add one more Quotient & rest with a 1000 as y. Then take the floor(x/y) your seconds.

    Luis,

    Here are the two methods for timing your code that I described in my last post. The top then loop uses a shift for you register say how long (ms) takes of each iteration of the loop. The structure of the bottom flat sequence will measure how much time (ms) a section of code takes to run.
