Curious about the CPU upgrade on my u430 ideapad touch?

I was wondering if I can upgrade my CPU. I can even improve it and if so how to choose the right CPU for my laptop.

Looks like he has not nested on the U430 touch, so you can't upgrade:

You can try to use ThrottleStop to coax more performance out of it well.

  • The CPU upgrade failed!

I bought a workstation Z1 base model with the Intel CPU 2120. Remember to update, I later also bought a 3220 Intel processor, which has almost the same features and same chipset.

When I installed the CPU and tried to boot my machine, I received the following:

    (1) light remained stable

    (2) no red LED shone, blinked or even doing a dance

    (3) five short beeps were issued, about one per second

I watched the "HP Z1 maintenance" and Service of Guide (685888-002, LP), but this condition was not covered in the "Codes and diagnosis errors" section on p. 83

Now, you also have a problem with conflicting information. The "HP Z1 Workstation data sheet" (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/pscmisc/vac/us/product_pdfs/Z1_Datasheet.pdf), the list of 'Available processors' clearly indicates the i3-3220 under "processors available.  In fact, it's the datasheet, I used when you decide to upgrade my CPU.

After the failure of the CPU upgrade, I did more research and found other data sheet (Document

    4AA3-9435EEE

( http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=4AA3-9435EEE&doctype=data%20sheet&doclang=EN_G...) which is NOT State of the i3-3220 as a compatible CPU and, in fact, only listed two other Xeon processors as compatible.

After replacing the CPU, my system is now back to normal, but the question (and my pocket) are bugging me. What has gone wrong? Did I waste my money on a HP data sheet?

    Yours sincerely,

    K!

Flushed with success from the BIOS update, I tried to install the i3-3220 CPU again. I also upgraded my RAM 8 GB with no ECC Kingston HyperX sticks I had to hang out. Why not live dangerously, huh?

Worked! The default display to 800 x 600 at initial startup. I went to the driver manager, said Windoze to update the driver, he said he was already up to date thank you much and demanded that I reload. When I rebooted, everything came pink!

    Problem solved!

For Linux users who might come here, you will need to update your BIOS for a Linux compatible one. The list of available updates are here for on the RPM-based distributions:

    http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=5230510&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3DswItem%253Dwk_123577_1&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

It is a CLI utility, in that you can run, as I have said before, a distribution based on RPM or you can use a USB key as normal if you do install this size. If you're stuck with Windoze, the updates to the BIOS page is here:

    http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=5230510&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3DswItem%253Dwk_123048_1&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

Read the Installation Instructions and do not hesitate to use HPQFlash. It works a treat.

THANKS to Dave and Skylarking. After that I have this post, I'll mark it resolved and suggest that my husband buy me a Xeon processor + upgrade RAM for my birthday! Who knows, maybe I'll even take 32 GB!

    Smooches to you all,.

  • Satellite A30 - question about the CPU temperature

    Hi all

I have a Satellite A30 (model name: SA30-151, model number: PSA33E). I had the usual problems with overheating and closing, where I had to clean the radiator.

My question is, how hot the CPU must sit at and what temperature is dangerous?

I installed 'Hardware sensors Monitor' and the average temperature is about 55 c, but I saw it happen at 70 c when I'm pushing it.

I was not able to find something on the net about it and I can't find information on the Toshiba site.

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thanks...

The same temperature is on my Tecra M1. Believe me, there's really no reason to panic.

  • Satellite L40 - question about the CPU temperature

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L40 17 Q with Intel Celeron M CPU.

The usual device temperature is about 60 degrees Celsius. I read that the Tj to this type of processors is 100 degrees Celsius.

So my question is dedicated to the owners of laptops equipped with Intel Celeron M processors and of course for the hardware gurus.
Is the operative temperature of 60 degrees Celsius of normal, and if not how do I decrease.
My laptop is new and I make sure that the air flow openings are not jammed.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello

Don't worry, the CPU temperature. 60 degrees Celsius is certainly within the normal range, and there is no reason to worry about this. On my laptop Tecra, I noticed the temperature CPU about 62 degrees Celsius and drive HARD around 40 degrees Celsius.

  • Recently bought a laptop computer; A few questions about the offer Upgrade to Windows 8

I have a few questions about the Upgrade of Windows 8 offer for new computers.  I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite S855-S5268 of amazon.com, which came with Windows 7 Home Premium.  Toshiba already has a beta version of drivers and utilities for Windows 8 for the S855 on their Web site.

    (1) I bought my laptop in July of this year, and I've not yet registered for 8 Windows Upgrade offer with Microsoft.  Am I still eligible to receive the upgrade, if I sign up soon?
    (2) if I buy the upgrade through this offer, I'll be able to download an ISO file so I can burn the installation media, or do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?
    (3) if I will be able to burn the installation media, I'll be able to erase my hard drive and do a clean install of Windows 8 (which I'd rather do, I have a lot of backups of my data).  I am aware that I would probably need to provide my product key Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM during the new installation, because it is an upgrade and not a full version; This isn't a big deal, because my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM product key is stuck at the bottom of my laptop.
    (4) my current copy of Windows 7 is activated by seeing my BIOS (I have a traditional BIOS, not a UEFI).  If I had to switch to Windows 8 and decide then I'd rather back in Windows 7, for example, a few months later, I'll be able to do that (I burned recovery of Windows 7 with the Toshiba utility disks, which I did), and Windows 7 will continue to activate by seeing my BIOS, even after the installation (and later remove) Windows 8?
    Thank you very much!

Yes, the registration period is between June 2, 2012 to January 31, 2013.
    (2) if I buy the upgrade through this offer, I'll be able to download an ISO file so I can burn the installation media, or do I need to upgrade to Windows 7?

Yes, the Upgrade Wizard of Windows 8 will allow you to create a bootable DVD or you can grab the ESD file and save it.

Yes and there are better ways to reinstall Windows 8 without using the installation disc, you can use the reset and refresh.

These steps will take you through refreshing your PC:

    · Press the Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

    · Click general in the left column

    · Under refresh your PC without affecting your files, click Start

Then follow the instructions that will be provided on-screen to cool your PC.

As long as you have a recovery disk which you should create or use the construction in the recovery partition, Yes, it will self activate.

    Hi all

Since we installed the 10g grid control in Windows 2003 server who and the agent have been upgraded to 10.2.0.5 see below:

The repository db (on the same server) stayed in 10.1.0.4 so we tried to upgrade this db. This is the step we did:

    (1) installed oracle 10.2.0.1 in a new oracle home.
    (2) listener configured in this new database using the port 1522
    (3) Ran pre upgrade util: utlu102i.sql
    (4) Ran oracle dbua new home

Looks like that the upgrade is executed successfully with the exception of the configurations of EM.

    Oracle_Server.log Oracle Workspace Manager successful
    Post PostUpgrade.log successful upgrade
EmConfigUpgrade.log Enterprise Manager Configuration Failed *.
    Generate the successful generateSummary.log summary

    My questions are:

    (1) what does this failure?
    (2) how can I fix this?

Thank you very much for your help in advance,

    Shirley

EM is not configured for this database

Which points to the control of stand-alone database (dbconsole). I'm not so familiar with DBUA, it could be THAT DBUA try to configure default dbconsole. But you have not need of a database repository gridcontrol, still more, such a data base should not have a repository dbconsole. So you can ignore the error message.

He is the agent who speaks with the WHO and the repository database, so you should follow the instructions in the present note metalink inform the agent about the changes:

How to: change the listening Port of the database that contains the repository of grid control

  • Satellite L850-046 - question about the CPU temperature

    Hi Experts,

I bought the Toshiba laptop 9 months ago, but now notice the temperature warms. I check the software Toshiba Health Monitor and the CPU temperature range of 46 to 53%, fan speed 50%-63%.

    Is - this normal readings?

I am now using a desk fan pointing in the vents hoping that additional traffic can maintain better temperatures.

What would be the ideal and the overheating of the readings to look out for.

    Thank you very much

Because cell phone use for 9 months, I recommend you to clean the cooling fans.
The fact is that from time to time the dust and debris that may affect the performance of the cooling fans, and this could lead to a higher temperature.

I clean my fans from time to time using a jet of compressed air.
It helps to get rid of dust and to lower the temperature.

  • Question about the CPU load and memory...

Hello. I'm a South Korea network engineer.

I am facing a problem with the DMP 4400.

I made a web page to publish the DMP 4400, but she loading has been so slow.

I don't know why it slows down, but it may be because of the memory or cpu.

So, I need to check the CPU and the memory usage...

is there anyone know control order CPU and memory?

I searched documents and web site include Cisco, but I couldn't know.

    Jinsung salvation,

This should give you the amount of memory on the device:

It should I think give you the CPU:

  • vCO workflow: create a virtual machine from a model and then ask the user about the CPU, memory size...

    Hi guys,.

I am trying to create a workflow with vCO that can do the job for me:

-Create a virtual machine (or maybe a several virtual machines) from a model (the model is in vCenter, of course)

-L' user who is running the workflow has the thr right to say what he wants for the CPU, the memorysize, the disksize

    Any help?

I found some workflows in the library can seem to do something similar to what I want, but since I'm a beginner I'd rather have your advice

Hello there and welcome to vCenter Orchestrator

Take a look at this series of tutorials to get an idea of how start:

Create a vCO simple self-service VM Provisioning Portal - part 1

Create a vCO simple self-service VM Provisioning Portal - part 2

Create a Simple Self Service VM Provisioning Portal vCO - part 3

The general approach to take would be to determine which of the clone (or clone and customize) workflows adapts to your nearest need (see your customer vCO: workflows\Library\vCenter\Virtual Machine management\Clone\)

Then, create a NEW WORKFLOW that calls this one... after that your clone operation is complete, keep the computer turned off virtual and add feeds of extra work from the library to your new workflow that do things like change the amount of Ram, adds disks, change CPU, etc...

Be sure to watch the videos on http://www.vmwarelearning.com/orchestrator to get a basic understanding of the use of vCO.

  • Already bought an Alienware 14 - curious about the upgrade of the screen

Is it possible to have the monitor on my Alienware 14 updated? I was hoping to increase the resolution of 1366 x 768. I was wondering about getting a slab IPS 300 nits 1080 p set in after seeing an article on the point. I was also wondering on a matte screen vs glossy screen. I use the laptop inside in general.

Now I've noticed a few rasterized textures on my screen and I was hoping to just get a level would lead it up to the same quality as my desktop computer monitor.

So, is it possible to upgrade the monitor after the purchase, ideally through dell, or do I have to use a third party? Secondly, what would be the cost and it would alter the warranty if I by dell (such as differing from the guarantee of original purchase value of the laptop).

I tried Googling, couldn't find much about it. I would really appreciate any information or even advice on what type of monitor to upgrade to.

https://www.LaptopScreen.com/English/model/Dell/Alienware~14/ (if you want to do the upgrade).
I think the number of spare parts and updates is 1-800-357-3355.

  • Need information about the CPU patches

    Hello

Could someone please explain me what CPU patches are. This is a security patch?
Is it mandatory to apply these patches every quarter. And if we apply, will there be a performance related issues?

    Thank you!

The quarterly patch all CPU Oracle application is optional. If your test needs are too high to apply multiple patches per year impractical, then you might just apply each other or even games patch by year. CPU patches are cumulative, so if you apply the most recent you all previous patches.

The above offers you don't need a specific patch provided by one of your patch. You last version Oracle and when you plan to upgrade can also be a deciding factor if needed/wanted to apply a specific processor.

  • I have a question about the ESXi upgrade using Update Manager...

This is probably a stupid question, but I've never played and update ESXi using Update Manager.  We need to update ESXi ESXi 4.1 4.1 servers before vCenter 5.0 U1 from U2 (there is a known issue where the ESXi 4.1 servers receive the GROUP after upgrading vCenter to 5.0 U1).  We used HP ESXi image to install ESXi on our servers for new installations.  This image contains ESXi.1 U2 as well as the drivers of HP and CIM.

    4.1_U2_Oct_2011_ESXi_HD - USB-SDImgeInstlr_Z7550 - 00241.iso

Can this same image HP ESXi 4.1 U2 that we used to install to new ESXi servers, be used to upgrade our 4.1 4.1 U2 ESXi servers using the Update Manager?  Or, upgrade package should be used for the upgrade?  Also, if an upgrade package must be used, is it OK to use one provided by VMware, or will be losing our HP specific drivers and CIM to do this?

    Thank you

    Hello

You can import custom HP ESXi 4.1 U2 ISO in Update Manager (don't forget to use the latest version of June 2012, available here: https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=HPVM06) and update the hosts with her.

In a second step, you can then import the last custom HP ESXi ISO 5.0 (available here: https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=HPVM09) and update the hosts again with her.

To be on the current ESXi 5.0 patch level you finally apply the latest patches from VMware via the Update Manager.

  • Curious about the quality of the training VMware vs other classes

Maybe this isn't the best place to ask because it is VMware forums, but can anyone offer an objective opinion on the quality of the VMware classes directed against others, such as HP? I intend to take the vSphere 5: installation, Congif and manage 5 day class.

I would assume that VMware instructors would be more informed about their own products, but more competent people are not always the best teachers. Also, there are other factors such as the quality of the installation, access to the laboratories and the precision of the curriculum.  So any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the community - having been a contract for VMware instructor, they hold all the VCI at a very high level, requiring continured and mainat high education on the student investigations comepleted at the end of the class - these investigation are the same if you take the class of VMware or partner VATC like HP or global knowledge.

The VATC infrastructure also must be approved by VMware and is amended periodically to ensure the safe delivery of the material of the class and classes so you should not be concerned aboud the quality of delivery of the course - that being said each delivery of instructors is unique to this instructor and depending on your tatses you might find an instructor who is great While the student sitting next to you think it is a total tool.
