Decommissioning of JDE version

Hi all.

I just installed the latest version (6.0) on Eclipse, and it works fine, developed my app, works well on the BB Simulator.

Now I want to run the application on my BB device, which sits on the platform version 4.2.x,

My question is: How can I change the BlackBerry Java SDK 6 fom to version 4.2.x on my project using eclipse, I find much on the Internet, downloaded many files and nothing so far.

Thks

Welcome to the forums.

As far as I know, there is no Eclipse JDE for OS levels over 4.5.  If you want to develop for 4.2.1 you need to compile it using the standalone version of the JDE.  It is a 'legacy' tool and is now well hidden, but I think you will find it here:

http://us.blackberry.com/developers/javaappdev/devtools.jsp.  You will need to download the 4.2.1 to develop to 4.2.1 version or an earlier version.

If not, what would you say your 4.2.1 upgrade 4.5 device and then develop in Eclipse?

  • Device = BlackBerry software? Blackberry JDE version?

Hey there everyone, I'm rather new in java programming on blackberry, and I feel like there is a mistake of very basic communication between me and my program.

I am writing a small program to my blackberry a short work for me, but I don't know if it'll work on my older curve blackberry.

I use Netbeans 6.8 and added the Blackberry JDE 6.0.0 as a custom Java ME platform.  So my question is:

How can I make sure that the classes and methods of the JDE 6.0.0 will work on my long-since-updated Blackberry 8330 m, which has a software system 4.5.0.186 (Platform 3.2.0.59).  Is there something in the classes and methods that would make me look out?  I should rather check all my imports and the method calls against http://www.blackberry.com/developers/docs/4.5.0api/index.html ?

Indeed, how can ensure me that I can use with BB, which are even older?

the JDE version must be equal to or lower than the version of the BB OS. If for example on a device running 4.5.0, you can use 4.5.0, JDE 4.3.0 4.2.1 etc., descendant of the version of the device

Looking forward to reply to the developers/RIM on that.

That is a good question and is asked everyday. Is there really no answer that solves all these problems.

As a general rule, you build your application on version base the more COMP that suports your application requriements. I recommend 4.2.1 as a good 'base' build, applications developed on this level will run on just about everything that is currently shipped today.

For different sizes and screen resolutions, we have developed our own class of theme and the theme factory serving the correct resource based on the current device context.

For the Touch vs Trackball question, abstract GUI components and serve them upward in a GUI factory method. Within the factory method, we use the preprocessor to avoid creating dependencies on the API that does not exist in the no touch devcies. The plant serves up the correct (or any other) class for the device.

The downside of this is that we have many distributions of our applications (. 42,.47, etc.). However, we maintain a single source using this methodology tree. It works for us.

    Others have different methods... ymmv

  • Best JDE Version to use

Hi, I am looking to build applications for any specific real user community.  My goal is to collect the JDE who meets the following criteria:

-Support 'most' out there (curve & new if possible) blackberry phones.

-Takes advantage of improvements in the API for location based services & TCP/HTTP connections.

-Take advantage of any improvement in the new user interface which makes it easier 'slick' user interfaces.

I've done a few blackberry 4.2 development and APIs for LBS and TCP seemed still need a good amount of device-specific code, so if the newer versions of the API that make it simpler I'd be happy to use a version more recent, although it reduces my audience a little.

Any advice on this topic are appreciated.

IMHO, 4.2.1 is your best bet for a basic version. It will cover you up to 4.6 with a build.

I worry too much on this subject "slick" - it is not a whole lot of "slick" in BB UI no matter what version you use.

For GPS and HTTP, it is not that you are missing at least in later versions.

  • I could develop Java Application for Blackberry device software version 5.0 to 6.0 JDE

    Hi, expert,

I saw this line of the ' BlackBerry Java Development Environment - 4.7.0 - fundamentals Guide'.

    It is said:

    ===============================

With each major version of the BlackBerry Device Software and the FMV of BlackBerry, Research In Motion includes the
corresponding Java API and version of the BlackBerry® Java® development environment. The version of the BlackBerry device
Software determines the version of the BlackBerry® integrated development environment that you can use to develop
applications. For example, RIM released BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0 and BlackBerry JDE version 4.0 in even
time. BlackBerry JDE version 4.0 supports APIs that were introduced in BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0
    and BlackBerry JVM version 4.0.

The applications that you create by using BlackBerry JDE Version 4.0 only work on BlackBerry devices
running BlackBerry Device Software version 4.0 or later.

    =========================

The last sentence talking about version 4.0 of JDE. I think that would mean that I could not develop a java application on JDE 6.0 for Blackberry 5.0 version of the software, even if I do not use any new API to 6.0. However, it seems to me that it is a useless limitation. Could someone throw some lights on it?

I'm going to agree with superdirt here.

I have the 5.0 OS update of applications work well on OS 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 of the OS OS phones.  I try not to recompile for levels of the OS, if I can, and so far I've been perfectly safe with OS 5.0 running on the later levels of the operating system.  So you should be able to get away with just using OS 5.0.

Not that it is important for you, but I just thought I documents some historical information about level changes.  .

As far as I know it 2 change cod in the file format, one to the 4.0 OS and the other in OS 4.2.  Therefore, if you want to run anything in OS 6.0 or above, it must be compiled in OS 4.2 or higher.  Again, I have applications compiled to OS 4.2 running on OS 6.0, without no problem devices.

There have been changes to the API - the result is that the code that works in OS xx does not work in OS yy where yy is after xx.  I hit a few of them and have so far managed to rework the code so that it works very well on both levels of the operating system.  In general it is things that I do wrong anyway, as the older operating systems (from memory) are not as strict on when the event Thread must be used.

The problem with OS 4.7 compatibility is an impact and to get more of this, for devices touch screen only, I compile using OS 4.7.  If an application that uses only the functionality that was available in the OS 4.2, I compile on OS 4.2 for non touch screen phones and OS 4.7 for touchscreen phones.  And everything works fine.

    I hope this helps.

  • How do I use a different version of the BlackBerry JDE?

    Hello

I installed BlackBerry JDE version 4.5 to 6.0.

How can I find out the current version used to Eclipse?

I also try to change using the JDE follosing version this article, http://www.blackberry.com/knowledgecenterpublic/livelink.exe/fetch/2000/348583/800901/How_To_-_Confi...

But there is no such ide.bat under the directory.

    Thank you.

Under your project directory, there is a JRE System Library. Right-click on it and select Properties. After that, I think you know what to do.

    I hope this helps.

  • Registration of an application in several versions JDE

Basically, the situation is I develop an application that needs to support several versions of BB OS with a few changes in the code for the 4.7 + OS versions so I can't build and sign just to a JDE.  I already have the COD file for the new version of project signed by the JDE 4.7 and which works very well to register and download the cod on the device.  Now, I want to sign the older code base in the JDE 4.2 on the same computer.  I didn't think there was any way I could use the same signature keys since its technically a different cod of the file even if it is the same, so I bought another game.  I actually like 5 JDE versions installed on this computer to test different simulators, if Im not sure how the signing tool decides which version to open the files with the ITUC.  When I double click on one of the keys to the new it says the usual 'private key could not be found would you like to create a new key pair.  It somehow he seeks the JDE 4.2.0\bin which is be the JDE I want to use, but I'm not sure how she won just one, perhaps because it was the last installed?  Anyway, I click 'Yes' and nothing happens.  I can't get an any of them to go beyond this dialog box.  Is there some conflicts that he doesn't know what JDE to launch to create the key pair with?  How can I get different files COD, signed different d on the same computer?

You can sign any number of cod files using a signing key.  And it doesn't matter what signing tool you use.

I have an icon on my desktop that starts the signing tool, I just navigate to the directory that contains the cod I want to sign and treat them regardless of what JDE, I used to create them.

  • Implement Oracle BI Publisher for JDE E812 with tools version 8.96.4

At the present time we do not use Oracle BI Publisher with JDE. Now, we must improve our relationship with BI Publisher.
To implement BI Publisher, let me know the following
    1. where should I start? Can you give us the link to document?
    2. how much will I pay?
    3. about how long it will take?
I just saw the document ID 789074.1 .
    Please see the details
I use JDE E812 with release of 8.96.40 tools

    Hi Rauf,
BI Publisher is in the stack of your application, you don't need to pay for it (the on-Board of jde version).

    For 8.96 only:

Download the JK14530 of 8.12 appropriate ESUs
Follow the instructions in the XML editor for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne guide

Once the BEEP (or in this old tr "XMLP") is up and running you need very little time to build your model.

    Kind regards.

  • Signature tool does not not on JDE 4.2

    Hello

I JDE Version 4.2 and 4.5 JDE Version installed. Sign tool only works on JDE 4.5.

He used to work on JDE 4.2 as well.

How can I sign the work tool for the two d?

    Thank you

It would be useful to know what measures you take, and what are the mistakes, if any, that you see.

The key database format changed with JDE 4.3, so if you have copied your GIS files of 4.5 to 4.2 and then tried to sign with the 4.2 SignatureTool that can fail.  You should just use the SignatureTool provided with 4.5 to do everything what your signature.

If it is not to describe your environment then please provide additional information.

  • JDE Simulator error "reload software: 552".

Hi, I use Blackberry JDE version 4.7 with Simulator 4.6.0.150 bold 9000. Everything works fine an hour ago.

It just started to show "reload software: 552" all of a sudden. He have no importance how to start the simulater, JDE debuger, or simply run the Simulator booth along.

There is a solution to a real device for this error message, but what it means for a Simulator?

    Thanks for your help.

    Chimera

If you run your 4.7 on a "BOLD" device software, you run the risk of "bricking" of the device, then do not.

The JDE 4.7 has only a simulator of the storm, because the storm is the only device which manages 4.7 OS.

If you want to target the "BOLD", then use the 4.6 JDE or more LOW (no more).

  • Simulating the different devices in the JDE

    Hello..

Currently with my JDE 4.6 it only allows me to simulate a storm and the 8900. I want to simulate my app on a few different devices (to see how it looks and feels more small/more large screens). I was just wondering how to install of new simulators for my JDE and where can I get them out?

I'm new on this and any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thank you

Devices come usually with of the JDE. You can download new devices by downloading the new JDE versions. You can then run the emulator from the command line and choose to install the application in the menu. Point of the dialog in the JAD/COD that you created and it will be installed in the emulator. Of course, you can simply use the new JDE to build and run your project but if you try to maintain compatibility with a version of the OS, but testing on the new devices, which tends to work ok.

    Thank you

Note:-only change in my m/c's IP has changed, I don't think that's the problem.

can anyone help me please with this problem.

    Thanks in advance

  • Selection of Blackberry Version of the JDK for a Business Application

I currently have the intention to develop the first Java based on the request of our managers in my company, so I asked

our team of Directors of Blackberry to give some information to our BES and compiled that

information of a PivotTable. Should I choose the JDK version 4.2.0? What is your opinion?

    Any help is appreciated.

    hhessel

    The Table looks like this:

    There is a simple rule.

JDE version is equal to the version of the API of the RIM which is equal to the version of the device software.

If you are using JDE 4.2.0 application will work (should work) for all devices with the software version of the device equal or superior to 4.2.0

But this app will not work on devices with software older than 4.2.0 device for example 4.1.0

JDE 4.2.0 is a good choice, unless the Director-general has a device with os 4.1.0

  • PopupScreen of application on JDE 4.5

I would like to develop for JDE 4.5.

When a user clicks a button in my application, the application makes an HTTP connection and it may take a while.  I would like to show you a GIF file I already created, however, I won't completely push a new screen to the display, but just a small popup image stack.  I know it can be done with the class PopupScreen for JDE 4.6 or higher, but I wonder how it can be done on JDE 4.5?

Why don't you use PopupScreen on 4.5? This class is available on all JDE versions I know.
