  You can reset the brushes and then. Delete all others via the Preset Manager, but some of them remained there under the brush Panel.

  You can replace all of the Brush tool, but all can be removed under the Preset/brush Panel.

• Pen & pencil brush Style to lose after one line

  Feeling frustrated, there may be a setting I'm missing.

  I put a brush style (charcoal, pencil, etc.), and when I use the Brush tool keeps the style of brush, BUT when I use the pen tool or a pencil, it resets to zero after each line so I re - select style brush for my desired effect. It is not effective. (Sad face)

  Go to the appearance Panel (Menu: window > appearance). Click the top right for the context menu. Deselect "New Art has basic appearance".

  width profiles can not be combined with calligraphy brushes. I guess that's your problem. You must define a basic stroke in order to apply a width profile. But then you must use the pencil, not the tool Brush tool.

  Preset animations are the way to go. I have a library of more than 200 that I created to speed to the top of my work. Learn how to create them and use them by typing "create a preset" in the search help field in the upper right corner of the AE and dig through the resources you will find.   This is a long-standing bug. The style is hard coded, apparently, for the tool framework so normal selected object never styles are applied when you place or no drawing a frame.

  There is an undocumented feature added in CS4 (and it has always worked until CS6 - did not check in more recent versions) which resolves this problem partly.   I know it seems a bit of a head-scratcher, but I think you might be put-remembering/mistaken as to see them... Watercolor brushes are not available in the sketch on the iPad 2, 3 or 4.
