Defective power adapter?

I've had my laptop for a year or so now, working fine until recently. I noticed that my adapter has begun to make a sort of pulsating squeal noise, now it does not power the laptop at all, no lights, nothing. All I get is an annoying squeal.

I unplugged the laptop to see if it was the power adapter or the laptop and he continued to scream so I can exclude the laptop. Is this to say that I need a new adapter or could the card be defective? I tried different outlets with the same result.

Has anyone else had these issues?
Any help is appreciated,

See you soon

Ray

Maybe the power adapter is dead and you need a new.
But understand that it very difficult to tell exactly what evil without any control of the laptop
In any case try to plug a compatible AC adapter and check if the laptop turns on.

Good luck

  • My Satellite goes into battery mode despite being connected to the power adapter

Y at - there anyone out there who can help me, please!

I bought a Satellite a couple of years ago which worked well for a while - however, it has started to overheat a lot and kept stop without reason. After many searches on the net, I discovered that the fans were very likely blocked with dust? After you clean the laptop worked like a dream and as a Bunny happy I was!

However, now a new problem has been its ugly reappearance - for some weird reason the laptop suddenly, without warning, past in dominant mode of battery despite being connected to the power adapter? He refuses to "acknowledge" that the adapter is plugged drains the battery quickly and then stops?

I tried once more looking for an answer and it seems that I am not alone in suffering from this problem? I read that it is perhaps a bad connection between the adapter and the motherboard, but it would be expensive to fix? Others have said to try a new adapter, but I tried from another laptop and it still happens? I hesitate to implement local repair because sometimes, this problem may occur after half an hour and other times, that won't happen for hours and hours and it is difficult to explain the problem?

There seems to be no rhyme or reason, but to crazy me on a regular basis!

    HI Deb,

It is a common problem and can have several causes. The most common are a common defective soldering on the motherboard (where the socket is attached) and it can also be caused by a bad connection between the AC plug (at the end of the cable) and the socket on the laptop.

Unfortunately, the standard response from most repairers is just to replace the motherboard, probably because it's faster for them and produced more revenue that comes to fix the connection.

I solved this problem on my SA30 by pinching the cable ca to the back of my laptop in order to prevent any movement or tension on the connector. Unfortunately this will not help if the socket is already damaged, but it can reduce the incidence of the problem to occur.

    Kind regards

  • Hello, I receive a message telling me that my AC power adapter type cannot be accepted.

A few days ago, I started having a power warning message when I turn on my laptop. It is said that the AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Beacause it my battery will not charge. But it's the power adapter that came with it and I have used for so long that I got the machine. Do not know what is happening.

I guess that the laptop works on AC power only but always?

If you remove the battery from the laptop work?   If yes then I suspect the battery does not have rather than the power adapter.
If it will not work without the battery then I would suspect that the adapter is faulty/defective.
Don't let not the battery-even if it is the problem.

  • A Magsafe 85w power adapter would be detrimental to my MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010)

    Hi all!

    I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).

Well, after years of abuse, the thinner rope (which connects to the Macbook) began to tear. I tried to drag an above shrink wrap to fix and make it last a little longer, but now I find myself stirring the rope around so he can start loading.

in any case, I found a company after-market on Amazon called Supsun making (link below) and recently purchased a. He said that going to work with my Macbook, but I think not even check what power mine use and after he woke up, I found out mine originally a 60w.

Will this hurt Magsafe Supsun 85w power adapter my mid 2010 13-inch Macbook in anyway?

I thank you for all your comments!

I, personally, look at the price difference and ask myself I'd be sad if I saved money and things did not work well.

  • Does someone have a MagSafe 2 power adapter whose serial number is located inside the space where the two pins?

    Hi guys!

I want to know if the power adapter of MagSafe2 that I just bought is genuine or counterfeit.

I bought a MagSafe2 power adapter that has its serial number located inside the space where the two pins. Its model # is A1424. All the power MagSafe adapters I've seen always have serial number located under the round metal head big (I guess it's called head male or female?). Please see photo for reference.

If any of you have or had any Apple Store, can you let me know?

    Thank you!

My 85 Magsafe is exactly identical to your image.   It was 'inside the box' with a new MBP computer.

    Thank you

    Laptop Toshiba computers use a 19 V or 15 V adapter.
You must first check the specifications of your laptop before connecting an AC adapter.
But I would always use AC adapter provided with the laptop or an original part recommended by Toshiba

First, it is important to know that there is another interface "6 to 8 pins" which is a feature of power-for - motherboard power ... you don't want that, sure, and connectors plastic is having different shapes.  You can see that he has 4 yellow wires (usually the supply wires) and would not have the sequence of correct wiring of a PCIe 6 to 8 pins supplementary power converter:

I don't know the show, too, is not what you want.  This looks like an 8 pin to two adapter 6 pins.  You want a 6-pin to 8 pin adapter.  Is attached another picture of the nVidia type tells you to do.  If you look at the hyperlink at the top of this post you will find the wiring of 6 pins on 8 wire and for your project, you will probably want to follow the advice of nVidia for best results.  There is power to the ground and 'sense' son to all be correctly connected to the adapter.

There is also some PCIe additional adapters that allow you to convert several sheets supply 4 son "molex" grouping in a single 6-pin PCIe or connector 8.  It is best to not do this if you have a power with official ones built in.  Your the fact, and to check the manual, it looks like your top rated power supply has 3 of these auxiliary PCIe power cords (G1, G2 and G3 will be printed on the side of the end of your 3 card).  On the other hand, offer reduced rated power of the Z820 has only 2 additional PCIe (auxiliary) cords supplied by it.

I don't know if you are forced to use a good 6-8 converter or could if away with plug 6 pin right in the correct position on the plug 8 pins of your videocard directly, according to article of the hyperlink.  I, personally, would get an adapter.

EDIT: Here is a picture of two ends of what is supposed to be a PCIe 6-pin supplementary power adapter PCIe 8 pins.  The first and third power pins 6 pins are officially DC 12v (some references have each of the first 3 pins being 12vDC) and subsequently, the rest are supposed to be a 'sense' or earthed.  When I look at the plug 8-pole end wiring I do not see a ground wire or ground jumper coming to pin 8.  I would not recommend it, unless I'm wrong about his son:

The power adapter light flashes in orange and I can't turn on my laptop. It seems to blink 7 times and then 1 time before a long pause. Any ideas on how to get the laptop on again?

Your laptop has a hardware failure, and it sends the hex code. This code can be read by technicians and they will know what is the problem.
I can't say for sure, but I guess that there must be a problem with electronic control gear.

    The warranty is still valid?

  • Satellite C870 - 11G - AC power adapter compatibility question

    I have a C870 - 11G.

It uses power adapter part no PA3917U-1ACA, who recently became damaged when someone tripping over the cable and it bends the end that connects to the laptop.

I used to have a Toshiba C660D-10W a few years ago and the power for this laptop adapter you still, even part no PA3714E-1AC3,.

Does anyone know if this is compatible with my C870?
It seems to fit but I wanted to try it incase it damage the battery or something.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

On the first picture you can see the values:
    * 19V * (v) * 3.42A* (Ampere)
On the second picture, you can find the same values.

If two adapters providing the same volt Ampere and should be compatible.

    Hi all

I recently lost the charger of my Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-16F.

    It provides the output DC 19V - 3, 42A

My father also has a Toshiba Satellite, model A300 1RF

    Supplies of its DC 19V - 4, 74A Chargers

I don't know if I can use the charger of my father for my computer, like I don't know
If it is just the current or excessive current it can cause damage.

Can someone give me the answer to that?, thank you very much in advance!

    Hello

You can use another adapter 19V.
The value of the Volt is very important. You can ONLY use the power adapter that supports the 19V
The ampere is too important, but it may be a little different.

Your original adapter supports 3.42 Ampère and other 4.74. It's a little higher but not really relevant.
