Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

  • Windows Defender won't start on Vista; Can 0x800705b4 & 0x800106ba errors, anyone help?

    Hello

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate Pro and Windows Defender worked fine until Verizon has install me it is Backup Assistant. Now I can't get Windows Defender to start. I received an error 0x800705b4 initially, but now just keep we get an error 0x800106ba whenever I try to start. I went to the Internet for a solution and this is the one that I thought might work:

Tom McC: "I had the same problem. Fixed by going to the control of the Control Panel-administrative tools - services - select Windows Defender-right click for proprietesent - choose boot options, and select automatic. To restart and no problems since. »

But when I open the Control Panel, I had no options, said Tom McC. Not to mention that under Vista, this is:

    1. open the control panel

    2. open system & maintenance

    3. open administrative tools

However, once there, there's no option to choose Windows Defender or ONE of my startup programs. Furthermore, when I tried of all this that I made right click has a drop down menu that says:

1 Explorer (which showed only the administrative programs/apps tools)

    2. open (which showed programs administrative tools in the tree of the C drive)

3 Win - Zip (which allows me to files in the administration tools, or those that it contains zip)

4 News (which allows me to create a new folder or briefcase in administrative tools)

It is part of the vista operating system

read this information on the Defender:

  • Windows Defender won't turn on code 0x800705b4

It is a Windows 7. Not sure if the Defender has never worked, it comes a new old computer to 1 MB... I can uninstall it & how, and reinstall?

    Windows Defender - 0x800705b4.

If you have the following AV, antivirus, programs installed, close your Windows Defender. Purpose of these AVs have their own advocates. 2 defenders on the same machine will create conflicts.
Bottom line: it is normal if you have installed following AVS.
List of AVs which will stop Windows Defender:
    Norton
    McAfee
    AVG
    Microsoft Security Essentials

If you don't have AV programs above, here's how to restart Windows Defender:

Start button > in the search box, typeServices > press the Enter key > scroll to find Windows Defender, click on it >...
topic status , it must be said... Has begun
under Startup Type, it must be said... Automatic
If it does not say that, right click on Windows Defender > click Properties >
in Startup Type, click on the pointer to the right and select automatic
to the service status, click Start
    Click OK when finished.

  • Windows Defender won't start does not automatically, it's because I use AVG anti-virus software?

I recently downloaded the free version of AVG v.9, which seems to work very well. However Windows Defender no longer seems work fine, normally this is an error message saying that it does not work and I have to manually start even if I set it to start automatically. Sometimes it does not start at all.  Is it a problem because I use AVG and I have to run Windows defender, while running AVG?

    I got appreciatte all boards.

    Thanks J.

AVG and defender in the face of a conflict between them.

  • Satellite Pro 2100 won't start at all - LED flash

My SP2100 began to have feeding problems and now won't start at all. The AC adapter green LED is lit, that are relevant lights on the body of the laptop (although the "battery charge" light always orange these days). When I try the switch on, startup begins (in fact succeeded on occasion until this morning), however the battery indicator and the adapter lights are flashing, and everything stops again.

On the rare occasions when I'll be past this stage, lights blinking, and the system soon shuts down again with a screen message "low battery." Until this morning, he would sometimes settle, the computer remained on, and the lights showed a State of equilibrium as usual.

Initially I thought that the problem was of course the battery or the AC adapter, but now I'm starting to think that it is with internal PSU of the laptop (although I suspect the battery is probably tour after all this part of loading and unloading).

    Any ideas?

    Hello

I think you're right. Flashing LEDS are a sign that hardware is defective.
I can't say what exactly is the problem, this should be verified by a technicain.
On the other side I don't know if it's worth to repair such an old machine.

  • Qosmio G20 - won't start, error ATA #1

I have a G20-102. Today I opened my flash drive and files all showed them as shortcuts. I tried to connect to Firefox 4 and a warning from AVG threat came pointing to C:\windows\system32\mssrv32.exe (Tr/Crypt.xpack.Gen3) as a Protection of identity. I opted for the "Move to vault" option and asked to restart

Now my pc won't start - I get the Qosmio screen, ATA error #1 (CD player has been removed) and then the screen "rolls" - looks like random pixels flashing on the screen. I'm trying to start safe mode, but F5, F8 or any Fkey is not doing

To make things worse, the CD rom has been removed, faulty, so I can't boot from another device. I don't have a USb in the BIOS, only FDD option which I did not

    Help, please

    Hey,.

To me, it looks like a serious hardware malfunction

You could try to load the default settings in the BIOS. Enter in the BIOS, and then press the F9 key to load defaults. Then save & exit the BIOS and try to start again.

The HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS? If so I try a recovery disk Toshiba recovery installation and check if the problem is hardware or software partners.

    Hi Mustafa,

In the BIOS settings, you should have an option called "Memory of UMA", which should show that 64 MB. This is the memory allocated to your graphics card and is main part of RAM of the laptop.

If you choose this item it should display the options available in 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB and 128 MB. use the arrow keys to change from 64 MB to 128 MB., then save settings and exit. On re - start your available RAM will be reduced by the additional 64 MB, which will be reserved for your graphics card.

  • New Satellite P300 won't start.

I hope you can give me some advice. This week, I bought a new Toshiba P300 GU with Vista Home Premium. It worked fine for about 3 days, but now it won't start at all.

    Symptoms:

    * - Some LED lights blink for a second, then they stop again.
    * - No fan or drive noise.
I tried to remove the battery and power cables and left the computer for a day before trying again. There is no difference except for a few plus-lumieres LED flashes for a second, the first time I try to start the computer. The next time I try, only a few lights flash again.

After I discovered the startup problem I noticed that food is quite noisy. I also noticed that the machine has a small mark RENS in the plastic in the upper left above the screen. (Looks like a defect of manufacturing error or transport) You hardly notice the 1 cm small inconsistency in the plastic, but it doesn't look like a normal scratch.

As I thought that food could be the cause of the problems because of the strange sounds, I brought the maschine to a PC technician today. He tested the food and said it was working normally, but he also said that this should not seem like that. He did not open the laptop, to not cause trouble about the Toshiba warranty.

I bought the computer to the Denmark I wanted a Danish keyboard. However, I live in Portugal, where I use the computer. Where is the PC now.

Do you recommend that I contact an ASP to the Portugal to fix the PC or do you propose I have return the PC to the merchant at the Denmark?

The ASP will be able to exchange the screen and power supply that are not in the State, they must be good obviously both?

    Thanks for the tips!

    Hello

First of all I must say I never had problems after 3 days of my new Toshiba laptop but these things happen and no manufacturing activity is perfect.

In addition, I agree with you. I would bring the laptop to an ASP because it seems that this motherboard is defective but I do not know Mr. it's only my personal opinion, and therefore the laptop should be checked by a technician for laptop.

As far as I know that the laptop is covered by 1 year international warranty and so I would contact the ASP in your country. Ask them if they can fix your computer laptop and if not, you must communicate with other ASP where you bought the laptop.
I think this is the best solution because they can tell you what to do exactly.

Good luck and I m sure that your laptop will be repaired as soon as possible.

    Welcome them

  • Windows Defender does not start... have webroot

I get the window to the windows defender, but I think webroot won't start... I would like to have the defender of windows as a back up but cannot get it to start...

    Hi DBrosius,

These two are spyware software products (except if you have the version of Webroot AV).  Many programs closed AV Defender since running both at the same time can cause conflicts, freezes, crashes and other problems and also to prevent each product to perform as well as he can and that instead of increasing the protection you are actually decreases the protection.  This would happen with MSE, Norton, McAfee, Avast, Avira, AVG and many others.  Check with the technical support of Webroot to see if their product (whatever one you bought) also turns off defender.  If so, you should not try to replace and run Defender in any case or you will get into trouble at some point.

If you have the version which only works for spyware, then you understand that neither product you defends against viruses, worms, Trojans and many other forms of malicious software out there and need to install an AV like MSE ASAP program if you have not already another such program (and if so (, it may be this program that blocks the Defender and not Webroot).

In short, if you install MSE you complete protection and it will be disabled Defender and Webroot will be either redundant or, if it is running in real time or is a product of the VA, will have to be uninstalled as using the appropriate to clear leftover removal tool may leave behind.  This is my recommendation for you - but the decision is yours.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

This backup after pressing F11 is a HP backup option, not a Microsoft option.

I suggest that you contact HP or ask their Support Forums.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/

It's the normal advice I'd give to record data; but we have no idea of the State of your hard drive.

    Saving your files:

You can remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive USB enclosure > plug it into another computer > and try to read and copy your data in this way.

Or, you can download Knoppix > make a bootdisk to > start your system with it (IF your material is all work) > and copy your data from the hard drive like that.

  • Windows Defender does not start automatically now.

Since last week, Windows Defender will automatically start.  He has always done in the past.  It shows to the extent permitted in the list in the Windows Explorer startup programs and also listed as automatic in the section of the computer management services.  I opened a few days ago to check the updates, and I got a little window that says "Windows Defender is disabled" and it had a link to activate it, I clicked, and it did turn on.  Because of this, whenever I turn on my laptop, I check Windows Defender and of course, she is still not and I have to turn it on manually.  I also have McAfee Security Suite, Spybot Search & Destroy and Microsoft Security Essentials, Ad Aware, Malware Bytes.  More McAfee is the only one that I pay.  But I had all these programs installed to the Windows Defender stopped automatically starting.  I don't have the error messages and have never know on this subject if I did not check for updates once.  I am running Vista Home Basic 32-bit with SP2.

    Restore point:

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
