Definition of idleness/inactivity in power options

I use the AV scan Scheduler integrated AV Avast to organize scans from 05:00.  But they seem to only start when I wake the computer from sleep mode, even if the analysis is set to wake up the laptop at 05:00.  The solution on the forum users is to analyze during screen saver.  However, I want to power options as the machine goes to sleep after 15 minutes.  Pointing the pointer over the field 15 minutes specification shows that sleep comes after 15 minutes of * idle *.  However, when I search help for power options, the explanation is that intelligence comes after 15 minutes of * idle *.  To run, they mean the same thing, but I wonder if this inactivity/idle is defined in a way that the Avast scan activity can continue beyond the leadup 15 minutes in standby mode.  It boils down to how XP idleness/inactivity is set.  If a scan process is 25 to 45% CPU consumption, but there is no user interaction, considered this idleness?  If so, Eve will kick in well before the analysis ends.

Thank you.

FrankyMacky salvation,

If Avast behaves like the Task Scheduler in terms of recognition when the computer is idle or not this article can help to explain how of inactivity is defined by Windows:

http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa383561 (v = vs. 85) .aspx

I recommend contacting Avast to check the functioning of their program with Windows when the computer is idle or not.

Hope the helps of information. Please post back and we do know.

  • Moto G4 - push notifications to stop functioning when the phone is idle / inactive

    Hello!

I have a very annoying problem with my G4 bike purchased in the UK.

    Problem:

My push notification comes to app and gmail to stop working when the phone is idle / inactive.

When I use any application or when I put just the phone side push notifications work fine. They appear on the lock screen and beep.

After a few minutes of not using the phone, the message to stop the spread. The sender indicates that a tick and the Moto G4 does not show notifications of type push until the phone is activated and unlocked. It is very annoying, because I already missed several attempts to call. This problem occurs with the Wifi or data plan. It is not a What'sApp of settings as it works very well for a while.

Text messages and phone calls work well, just a data plan seems to go off when idling and never come back until unlocked (even then it takes a while). WiFi seems somehow to maintain a connection.

    I tried:

    • change What settings the sApp
    • disconnection/connection gmail account
    • remove the operating system of the device cache
    • disable the whats of ap battery saving options and all services appear to be relevant
    • WiFi seems somehow to keep the phone, but only data stops immediately, sending fn when idle
    • Restart in safe mode-> the same problem with meeting places. WiFi seems to work, data plan do not when idling

Is this a known issue? Everyone knows the problem? To me, it seems that the camera seems to move from the internet and do not reactivate until this that unlocked.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated,

    Thank you!

It seems to work now after clicking: 'Reset the settings App' in the top menu right in "parameters - apps-> gear-> battery optimization"!

I haven't seen this solution anywhere else. I did the reset done only because I tried to disable optimization for almost all applications gradually. Without success, I clicked on 'Reset the settings App' and suddenly push notification for all work! Yes!

  • I can't control the sleep display option - display decreasing intensity 5 minutes despite Power Options

    I have a HP Pavilion dv7, running Win 7 Professional SP1 x 64. It was purchased in 2010.

The display dims (goes to dark blue, not black, the desktop is not visible) after 5 minutes of inactivity.

The cover of the computer is open, pc is connected, nothing else is running.

I have power Options (Control Panel--> equipment) and its--> power for trendy Options value

HP recommended and I have edited the plan to these settings:

    • The brightness... 20 minutes
    • Turn off the display... 45 minutes
    • Put the computer to sleep... 1 hour

I put these time abnormally high just to see if the system will follow this plan, and it's not.

Which bothers me more that gradation display after 5 minutes.

Are there other system options that replace power options?

Please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Your blue gradation display can show it's a flavor of screen running.

Check it out and set it to none.

  • NB200 122 - loading using the battery power options

    Dear all

I recently bought a Toshiba NB 200-122 Mini Netbook, I tried to use all the power options (full power)... always shows 15% battery (charge) even if I kept it charging for a day in hibernation mode... (when connected to the power unit).

Other laptops would be fully load 100% when it is connected to the unit of power for one day...

Why the netbook battery is slow or not clean load?...
Or other options with her... Or having to drain the battery completely and use it...

Could someone suggest me some advice about this...

    Thank you

    regards Sarah

    Hi Sarah,.

I agree with the user above. You should try a BIOS update you can find the Toshiba site. Before applying it, close all programs running also your antivirus and firewall and make sure that you are logged on as administrator.

In the worst case you battery is damaged or some cells in it. You can get a spare to an authorized service provider.

  • Satellite P10 804: Toshiba Power Options - how to disable Hibernation

    Model SP10 - 804

How to turn off the Hibernation feature?

The 'Enable Hibernation' box is checked and grayed out so I can't uncheck it!
I don't use this feature and would like to delete the hiberfil.sys file that is beyond 1 GB.

I understand that by disabling the hibernation, this file should remove. I read about it here:
    http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/Hiberfil-sys-XP.html

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I presume that the Toshiba Power saver utility has been installed on your system.
In this case, the windows own power options are disabled and the TPS control the hibernation and the day before.

You can switch to the mode of power window in Control Panel-> power options control.
Here, you have to choose to another scheme of power as the Toshiba power saver.
Otherwise, you can remove the GST from the system!

However, in my opinion the hiberfil.sys has no bad influence on the system and it is really not necessary to delete that file.
On my system, the file size was never 1 GB.

  • Sleep icon does not appear in the power options

I just closed the lid of my Lenovo ThinkPad T460s only once but since then I can't see "sleep" icon under options of 'power' to the main screen. How can I see the icon of sleep again?

    Hello

The reason why sleep does not appear in the power options is your Intel graphics card.

Please try to disable Intel graphics in the Device Manager and turn it back on.

If it still shows yellow bang, try to download the latest Intel graphics driver from Lenovo site.

    I hope this information helps.

  • lost hibernation startup command menu, why can't find it in the power options and enable the Hibernate?

tried the right click, properties, screensaver, power office and cannot find a way to afford to hibernate again. When I try the "turn Hibernate power" listed in the left hand blue, he takes me in power options, but said that I can choose to quit, sleep or do nothing. don't Hibernate tho.

    Hi Twyla,

Start with this article: http://www.ehow.com/how_7591373_add-hibernate-shutdown-options.html.  If this is not the case, then discover the many other links and references on that page and I'm sure you'll find something that covers the problem.

    Good luck!

  • Power options in the control panel are empty - can't do anything.

Recently, I noticed that the Power Options in the control panel is empty.  I can't create something or do something there.  Could something in Services.msc have disabled this?  Nowhere part that I should look at?  I cannot stop, restart, or put it to sleep.  Also when I start the computer (once using the hardware Reset button on the computer case) he does not remember my user name.  He asks me every time.  There is no password.  I just press ENTER after entering my user name.

So I found the magic formula to use the command run and it resets everything back to normal.  Can't find it now but if you google it you can find.  You want to reset the Power Options in the control panel.

His time, I have contributed something here!  I'm always ask questions and rarely give all the answers.  :)

  • Aspire 5742 not allowing changes to power options

I'm changing Power Options to never sleep or Hibernate, but as far as I have to change the settings is not to do it.  I have upgraded to Windows 10.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you

    Felicity

    Hi Felicity,

I make a few assumptions, but you can go into advanced settings and turn off some other things like putting to sleep HARD drive. From there on, make sure that both your battery and plugged on options are set correctly.

Finally, maybe a screenshot of the issue would help others contribute more to your question.

    Thank you

  • Unable to use power options icon of in Control Panel (xp)

My friend has an Acer laptop running on Windows XP. However, after clicking on the 'power options' icon in the Control Panel, it does nothing. That's happened? I can manually download and reinstall something rather than having to perform a system restore? My friend was not aware that this icon does not work and therefore doesn't know how long it has been like that.

    Hello Azam K,.

My apologies for my delay in responding but I've been away for a few days. Thank you for the feedback. However, so far I have not need make your suggestions because I managed to find a download on the Acer site for an Acer ePower Management application which seems to be what the power options icon was eager point to (I hope that makes sense?). The original Acer ePower Management software seems to be on the laptop but has been altered.

Once again, thanks a lot for your feedback.

    Kind regards
