Delete the database on Windows

Hello

Could you please provide steps or relevant link to remove the Oracle database in the Windows platform?

Oracle - 11.2.0.3.0

OS - Windows 2003 32-bit

Kind regards

Bala

In fact, I wouldn't use these steps. The main reason is that the DROP DATABASE command will not remove this annoying service. Instead, I would check the database is running, and then use the DBCA Wizard to delete the database. Not only this delete the database for you, it will be also make you the Windows registry (and therefore service) are supported properly.

See you soon,.

I'm on Windows 8 and tried to remove an artist from my Windows Media Player library. It does not work it just did nothing. Instead, I deleted the file from my music folder, but the artist remains in my library and now does not play the file.

    How can I fix it?
Is there someway to prevent that from happening again with other music files?

    Hey Tapper,

I suggest you to clear the database of Windows Media Player and see if the problem still occurs.

    To do:

    a. press the Windows key + R and type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

    b. Select all files in the folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

Note You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    d. restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. press the Windows key + R and type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoftand then click OK.

    b. Select the Media Player folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

    c. restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    I hope this helps.

  • Y at - it an easy way to delete the duplicate in Windows Media Player... or should I put at ease and do it manually?

I use iTunes and another person decided I want QuickTime to be my default player... I uninstalled who and now I have duplicates of music/video/photo everywhere! It's an invasion!

    Hi K.J.Kirt,

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:

    (a) output Windows Media Player.

    (b) click Start, click run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

(c), select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    (d) restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Method 2: If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    (a) output Windows Media Player.

    (b) click Start, click run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoftand then click OK.

    (c) select the folder Media Player and then click on Delete on the file menu.

    (d) restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Method 3: When you move digital media files on the computer, the file name and file path information remain unchanged in the library. Then when you select a file to play to its new location, a new entry is created in the library if you select the automatically add to the library when played. As a result, the library can quickly contain a large number of entries, duplicate or invalid.

To prevent music files to be automatically added to the library:

    (a) in the Player Windows Media, on the Tools menu, click Options.

    (b) in the Player tab, clear the checkbox Add music files to library when played .

Now, when you play music on your computer or Internet files, the file will not be added automatically to the library.

    SQL > startup nomount;
    RMAN > set dbid = 7898909
    RMAN > recover automatic backup controlfile;

    And then the problems begin.
because the controlfile contains the former locations of tablespaces (linux).
I try with set newname for data file does not work because old tablespaces are not there.
If I try to backup the controlfile to find and change the locations, it still does not because I don't have the files of data in place.

In short; How to restore and recover the database from a backup of linux on windows?

    Hello

Rman backups are not portable between operating system platforms.
You must use the convert command.
Please follow the link which explains the controls and the procedure below.

  • Cannot delete the partition with windows xp a clean installation

    Hello
Thanks in advance for any help.
I'm doing a clean install of windows xp pro. When I get to the screen to delete the partition by pressing the d nothing happens. I'm sure start out of the cd. First attempt to do a fresh install. Any help would be appreciated

    Hi rlsajs,

Is it a custom computer or pre-built as a HP, Dell, etc. ?
Is your USB keyboard? If so, you may need to enable "bios powered" usb in the BIOS of your computer.
By default, many computers are set to "Operating System" controlled USB which means that your keyboard does not work entirely until Windows has started, and you need it to work before Windows started as you go through the Setup for a new installation.
Hope this helps and answer back with questions. If you need help getting into the BIOS of your system you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer.
BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can resolved e. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
  • Delete the old folder windows out of a secondary hard drive

    Hi all!

what I try to do is to remove the old windows folder on my previous hard drive, I have upgraded to a ssd, and she eats 30gigs all space

so I have a C: drive with the current installation of windows,

and an E: drive for programs and others,

    what I tried

    * "takeown /f E:/r" in an elevated command prompt

but still, I can't delete the folder, it will start to panic

change permissions to the (not to do the right thing)

I'm not particularly to wipe the hard disk, because then I have to re - download to almost 500 GB of games steam/origin

One thing you can do if you can not do the work for something like this in Windows is to download a Linux Live CD and boot from that. When you start in the Live CD, you can delete the folder.

If you follow this way you won't have to reinstall your right boot OS into something else for a moment.

Check out Knoppix is one of the most popular Linux Live CD for those starting with Linux and Live CD here is a link to their download page:

Help of any kind is welcome!

    Hi avi_yach,

The files are not deleted on uninstall.

You can try and set up a CodeModuleListener or add an application which will remove your files once your original application has been uninstall.

  • CANNOT DELETE the LARGE FILE - Windows Explorer hangs

    Windows 8

I made a very large pdf by mistake (14 GB) and now I can't do anything with it. Can not open, delete, move...

I tried to delete the entire folder where it is located, but also that Windows Explorer crashes.
I checked the disk for errors, and everything is OK.
I tried to permanently delete without moving to the trash, as I understand it the trash can sometimes accept very large files. I can highlight the file, but as soon as I click the button remove Ribbon, or right-click, or try to do something with it, Windows Explorer crashes again.
I have rather a small disc on this machine SSD, and I need this space to the rear...
Can't think of anything else to try...
    Best regards, K

Try to remove the file from a command prompt. You can shift right click a folder to see an option "open command window here", which will automatically open the command prompt in the appropriate folder. There is also an "open command prompt here" option on the file menu. If necessary, you can simply open a command prompt and use the cd command to go to the appropriate folder. (.. leave a folder, / to go to the root). Note that the led, remove and erase commands don't send files to trash either.

Another thing you can try is crushing the PDF file. Type something in a program that is able to save to PDF and try to save it on this PDF. Please tell me if you receive errors overwhelming, because they can help to find out what is the problem. If you have any program capable of PDF, simply typing things into Notepad and overwrite the PDF file with it. (in the Save in drop-down menu, you can select "all files")

The entry in NTFS, indicating the presence of this 14 GB file is maybe damaged. The disc may have recorded the location of the bad file, or the 14 GB file may not even be there. You can plan to run the chkdsk utility. It flows better in an administrator command prompt. If you are prompted to do so, you should probably run chkdsk /f. I don't know what the side effects might arise from running chkdsk on an SSD, so proceed at your own risk. (I tried to do a search, and all that I could find is that nothing else than / f should not be run on an SSD)

  • Is it possible to install several facilities of the database on Windows?

    Hello world

I have a Windows Server 2008 with Oracle 11 g R2 (11.2.0.3, Standard, 64 - bit) database. I need to install an additional database (11.2.0.3, Standard, 64 - bit) for tests on the same server. These tests are patches of database, which will first be applied to the new database before applying these fixes on the existing database, in order to assess potential problems after having patched.

I'm used to install, configure and manage databases Oracle as a stand alone, RAC or physical standby via the DataGuard since 9i - as long as I'm in a UN * x / linux environment (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CEntOs, Oracle Enterprise Linux, etc.). Implementation of multiple instances in a single or multiple homes has never been a problem for me so far.

I already searched google, oracle.com and other related proceedings. But I have found no results on the installation of two or more homes to Oracle under Windows. I found the guidelines on copying / cloning an instance in a new home, but if I remember correctly, it is intended for copying / cloning on other servers and not on the same server. Given that the existing database is installed on Windows, I'm afraid I can damage the existing installation to rerun the configuration wizard, change the registry values for Windows, and the database running as a service.

Is it possible to have several houses of the same Oracle database, with even the version, edition, and the archiecture (11.2.0.3, Standard, 64 - bit)?

If so, how can I get it?

    Best regards

    Crazy bytes

You can run the Setup utility again and specify a different Oracle home. In fact, the installer can provide a different name automatically for you. It's been a while since I've done it, so I'm a little fuzzy on the details. How the two facilities are managed by different registry settings, such as ORACLE_HOME0 and ORACLE_HOME1.

Another caveat is that when the management of these cases, make sure you start the utilities for each database to its respective home. So, in the menu start, you choose tell SQL * menu Dbhome1 more to manage a single instance and SQL * in the menu of dbhome2 to manage the other instance. It's so environment variables get ready properly before the application starts.

  • delete the file in windows 8.1

I can't delete pdf files in Windows Explorer 8.1.  It keeps telling me that it is used in another program that is not.  I tried to go to the Task Manager and stop all the Adobe programs running, but then return to Explorer and get the same result.  Very frustrating.  I guess when you click on the name of the file to delete, the Adobe viewer comes down automatically on the right side and begins to get a glimpse of this file in Explorer.  It is a gap specific Adobe and very frustrating.  Does anyone have a solution?  Be more appreciated.

    Hi Godhelpus,

Try turning off the preview pane and try to delete this file again.

If this does not work, restart the process explorer.exe from the Task Manager and try to delete this file.

Please come back if the problem persists.

  • How do I delete the database and backup of the ASM

    Hi all

    OEL 5.7

We have a host for restore purposes.
Run us monthly or quarterly operations to verify that I am able to restore a subset data in the given duration or for other purposes of restoration.
I have an automated script to clone the database, but the database Clone to remove former base ASM before starting this process. I want to delete only the database files and keep the configuration (for example oratab/network/ocr and so on).

Question: There is an easy way to delete these files without logging on ASM or using DBCA?

Yes, there is a simple way. Use the DROP DATABASE command.

Use the DROP DATABASE command to remove the database target and, if RMAN is connected to a recovery catalog, unregister it. RMAN removes all the data files, online redo logs and control belonging to the target database files. By default, RMAN prompts.

Put this command in your script before clone your database:

    RMAN> CONNECT TARGET SYS@test1

    RMAN> STARTUP FORCE MOUNT
    RMAN> SQL 'ALTER SYSTEM ENABLE RESTRICTED SESSION';
    RMAN> DROP DATABASE INCLUDING BACKUPS NOPROMPT;
