Dell Dimension 5150 do not start LED logo on 123 + progress bar is stuck at 5% no beeps

My old Dell Dimension 5150 has sometimes suffered from crashes during startup for quite awhile, but it now appears permanent.

The symptom is the logo dell appears, but the startup progress bar stops at 5%, diagnosis LED 1,2 & 3 are stable on, power light is green fixed, no beeps, no response to the keys.

In the past disconnecting the cable for 5 minutes, which gives all the internal connectors a re-allocation of places, you try to start again seemed to do the trick, but no more.

Any suggestions where to look?

No such thing as PC2 4300 except for sellers who are less honest.

PC2 4200 is too slow

PC2 5300 5 5 5 12 works fine. Suppliers must match for speed and the CASE.

Blockages can be feed if it isn't certified EPS12v PFC.

Minimum recommended is CS750M Corsair.

Supplies are not units of 12 v x watts.

You need 150W on the 3.3v 5v Rails and 15-20w on the + 5VSB rail.

RAM RAM may NOT BE ECC or buffered or Registerd HIGH density AMD.  Must be LOW DENSITY INTEL Compatible ram.

RAM cannot BE QUADRI ROWS can operate 2R and 1R, but you can NOT MIX the ranks.  They must all be single or dual rank.

    Hello Bev,

The rest green power light on, no blinking, no beeps. I had no problem until last night after that I removed the hard drive and reinstalled.

How can I remove the memory modules?

    Thanks :)

    NetFanatic123

For the removal and reinstallation of the RAM, details are HERE NOTE from the ADMIN: broken link has been removed from this post by Dell >

A hint: make sure that the modules are filled into the slots and the clips are in the notches.

While the case is open, check that all the power cable and the data are correctly connected to the drive and the motherboard, by removing and reconnecting them.

Why the hard disk has been deleted and reinstalled, was this HD replacement, or what?

  • Dell Dimension 4600 does not start after upgrading CPU

    Hello

First of all, I tried to send this last night but received a message on my post approval by moderator? Not yet been approved but seen other people have posted with success more recently. Do not know what is happening.

In any case, put his hand on a 3.4 Ghz HT P4 Northwood 512 Kb 800 Mhz FSB for £10 on Ebay to upgrade my mother enough old Dimension 4600 which has a 2.8 Ghz P4 512 KB 533 FSB inside... However, when I install it the computer does not light and shows just a light amber. The readers and fans still spin but there is no display. The computer works normally when I put the old one back in.

I think somehow it is a power supply problem as the new processor uses 20w more energy than the old 2.8 Ghz one. Someone at - it ideas? Just trying to figure if I bought a bad CPU, so I can return.

    Thank you

    Andrew,

It is not a power supply problem, it's incompatible, or a bad processor problem.

The first models of 4600 will take up to 3.0 GHz and models later, 3.2 GHz to 3.4 GHz, but this does not offer much of a sudden boost on the 3.0 GHz

Motherboard Dell P/N F4491 will support up to 3.4 Ghz Northwood leaving Prescott

  • Dell Dimension 9150 will not start, turns 2, 3

    Hi all

I moved to Italy and handed the dip switch at the rear of the server to 230v.  The computer starts beeping sound and light indication of storage 3 and 4 is stable.   The monitor does not work and I get a warning on the screen there is no signal.  I hope someone can shed some light?  I'm not a computer guru, but I can try to work the steps to make it work because there a lot of personal things in what I would like to have access.   Thank you

Well speak of the devil, I moved the Ram in slot 1, since it was not positioned in slot 1, but 4 and now the dell is starting up and works FINE... which is great!  I am a woman with a bit of left brain!

My dell optiplex 740 will not start.  The screen is black, once it displays the Dell logo.  It does not say that the computer is in mode 'sleep'.

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. You receive an error message?

    Method 1

See the articles below and check if it helps.

Computer stops responding with a black screen when you start Windows XP

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/318027

    Method 2

I suggest that you start the computer in the last good known Configuration mode and safe mode, post back with the result.

    Method 3

If the computer can boot in any mode, then I suggest that you perform the clean boot procedure and check if it helps.

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

  • Dell Dimension 5150 - WinXP error 0 x 00000024 STOP

I wrote this email to someone, however, received no response, so am using Microsoft Answers.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanyou,

    Anil

    Dear Dan,

First of all, my name is Anil and I found your E-mail address when searching about my problem on some Forums.

Last night, my computer was working fine. Really flawless. I use a Dell Dimension 5150 running Windows XP.

However, when booting this morning, I received the error STOP 0 x 00000024 and with something to do with CHDSK / F.

I couldn't do anything, like when I tried to boot my PC in safe, I got the same blue screen with the error.

Therefore, after reseaching, I found two possible solutions.

The first is to use the WinXP disc, however, my PC came with Windows XP already installed, I therefore had no disc.

The second, I found the Forum even where I found your Email address, is to use a program called Bart PE Builder.

I used Labtop this and this to burn the program to a CD.

I only have a cause for concern, and it is, I have about 30GBs of value of music on my computer that I would be afraid to lose.

My question is, if I run PE Builder from Bart, my music will be lost?

And that goes for other files and documents on my computer (anything illegal, don't worry; (P)

    Thank you

    Anil

Looks like Bart's not see anything except himself and that might be because it takes the controller drivers that are added. The easy way to find out is to add drivers to the image of your Bart controller and then start with this new CD. IIRC, he must put the drivers in a certain directory. Site Web de Bart, user forums or Google will tell you how. I don't use often Bart (preferring Knoppix) so know not glib. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Dell Dimension 5150 won t boot

Hey guys! My Dell Dimension 5150/510 running Windows XP Home Edition SP3 won't boot for some reason any. Whenever I press the power button the power button just blinks and won't turn on. Please help as soon as POSSIBLE. Thank you! If you can do it in a video or BIC please :(

    md5diablo

All that, suggest a power failure, first replace the PSU with a unit of work that is 'known', to see if that makes a difference.

5150/E510 systems don't use exclusive Dell power supplies, you can install a generic ATX power supplies with either a power connector 24 pin or 20 + 4 pin main motherboard.

Like the 5150/E510 has a rear panel open, a diet with or without the on/off switch can be used and can be purchased in most local computer stores or online.

Need a power supply with two SATA power connectors.

  • Stuck on Start Up Apple screen logo with 50% progress bar, tried everything. Help, please!

Hello world. I'd appreciate it really all the advice that you can offer me to help me fix my laptop. I have a mid-2010 Pro 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo Macbook running OS X Yosemite. A year ago, he started trolling a lot, so replaced the HDD with a Samsung 850 EVO 120 GB SSD internal 2.5 inch SATA III. He works much better since.

A few days ago, I bought a Google Chromecast and had set up with my MBP. Subsequently, he began trolling and I noticed there are apps in the Launchpad, that I had never downloaded (reader of Google, Gmail, Youtube, etc.). I could not remove these applications or drag them to the trash. Concerned, I decided to back up my files on a USB key and re - install the OS X.

However, during the priming of the MBP, it is stuck on the Apple logo screen, with the bar never go beyond 50%. (Photo: http://postimg.org/image/66qh6x633/)

    What I tried:

    PHASE 1 (Before reformatting)

-Safe Mode: Button power button and shift held down. Hit or miss, worked 1-2 times, but when I reboot, is again stuck at the Apple logo.

-Reinstall OS X: CMD + R; After 15-20 minutes get to OS X utility screen; Reinstalled OS X Yosemite; 7 hours to reinstall - but when the mbp restarts to complete the installation, it is stuck at the Apple logo again.

-Reformatting: CMD + R; 15-20 minutes get to OS X utility screen (several reboots to work); Select repair for all discs/drives (Samsung SSD, HD Recovery). Exit said that both are very good; Select clear to HD recovery. When this was done, I tried to reinstall OS X Yosemite, but the MBP shuts down suddenly. When I turned on it again, it is returned to be stuck on the loading screen Apple logo. Attempt to restart after 15 +, but same result every time.

    PHASE 2 (After reformatting).

-Power-> CMD + R = blocked screen Apple logo with 50% progress bar

-Power-> Option = shows 2 player and free Wi - Fi area (Pic: http://postimg.org/image/58qi2j1vl/); Have you tried all the combinations, but regardless, always gets stuck at the screen of the Apple logo to 50% complete, after an hour, I suddenly hear ' to use English as the main language... ". ", but the screen is still stuck. I left it on 36 hours once and nothing has changed

-Power-> Shift = error (Pic: http://postimg.org/image/tahklsvy1/); Keep restarting or shows some other error (Pic: http://postimg.org/image/thstc6b59/) and restart. Never crosses.

    Tried other things:

-Reset PRAM: When restarting MBP, is stuck at the Apple logo screen, 50% progress bar

-Reset SMC: Stuck on the Apple logo screen for a long time and then the screen turns off, but the laptop is still on. When I press Caps Lock, the indicator light lights up. Also, after some time, I again hear "to use English as...". "even if the screen is off. No matter what I press, it does not wake up to the screen.

    Note:

-The bottom of the laptop feels hot (maybe), but I do not hear the drive in motion.

I am trying to save my mbp because I can't get a new one for a few months. Any advice/help is greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!!!

P.S.: I only am not too computer savvy, please use everyday words words/non-tech, when possible, thank you!

Remove the SSD and install it in a closed Chamber.  Connect it to the MBP via USB.  It will start?

    Ciao.

my system does not start upwards - don't stop progression blue bar that goes round and round.  I can boot into safe mode and safe mode with networking mode.

    Hello

As you are able to boot to the desktop in Mode safe, it means that the third-party application prevents the computer from starting in normal mode. To check you can configure the computer to clean start State and then try to boot into normal mode and check what is happening. To set up its own start-up follow the link below.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If the problem does not continues when the computer is in the clean start State follow the steps listed to identify which application is causing the problem.

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Dimension 8400 will not start up cd or dvd drive

    Hello

I have a Dimension 8400 that refuses to boot from the CD or dvd drive. In the bios, tried to move 'Onboard or USB CD-ROM Drive' to the first position in the boot sequence. Also, I tried pressing "f12" during startup to access the start menu. • Dimension 8200 does not start

I have a Dimension 8200, which has not been used for more than a year.  I was going to reformat the hard drive to remove all personal data, and then give it to my daughter's school.  However, it will not start.  The Dell page comes and the BIOS white bar at the bottom of this page fills slowly, but then nothing happens for about a minute.  Meanwhile, the power button is green, and the ABCD diagnostic lights are green-orange to orange-green.  Then after about a minute or two, a page of message arrives.    At this point, the diagnostic lights are Green-Green-Green-orange, and the power button is always green. Among other writings is the assertion that the 1 primary and secondary hard drives is not found.  It says also "failure keyboard,' even if I used this fairly reliable keyboard with other computers. But it does not seem that the keyboard doesn't have - I do nothing doing on the keyboard has an impact on the computer.

I checked the optical drive opens and closes when I push the button on the front, but I have not tried to use the player, because the computer is completely non-functional.  I looked through the forum of ideas of things to try.  According to this research, I checked the power supply provides the correct voltage.  I disconnected and reconnected then the two IDE cables, and I also removed and replaced the RAM sticks, as well as two sticks of continuity.  But still nothing!

Any ideas, or should I just trash?
